found at dusk during a thunderstorm Great hide, but container has let water in so some papers were
quite wet. Nice to be involved with Oz family.
quite wet. Nice to be involved with Oz family.
Easy find, replaced cache where found. Kids took the little green car & left the marble.
Coming from the south I went up the wrong access road as was confronted by serious mining action.
A quick U-turn and down the road 200m to the right one and GZ was easy.
Contents of the cache are a bit ratty and unappealling so I raised the bar by leaving $50 wrapped in plastic.

A nice and easy find. I walked up to the viewing area once I signed the log and had a look at some of the expensive trucks that were working down below. Thanks for bringing me here
A view of a mining pit would be nicer but I think this is considered as too dangerous?

Our 4743rd overall find.
A nice quick find on the way to Muswellbrook today. I thought the nearby lookout would overlook some actual workings but all I could see today was the workshops.

Tamykian told us about this cache at work and we decided to go for it this weekend. We just did not realise how far it was from Nelson Bay. Doh
But we got there in the end and where blown away.
Thanks BodySteppingFreak for a great hide. We would never of realised this placed existed.

Very interesting to see what goes on in this neck of the woods. Great machinery and it really dwarfes us by it's sheer size.TFTC
Great spot, I've always wanted to have a better look at what goes in behind the gates of coal mines!
The lid of the container is slightly broken, but the cache contents were safe and dry

Despite heading north via Denman drove the opposite way to claim this one & the Trig. Thoroughly enjoyed the view & all the activity. Can highly recommend this one. Thanks.
I guess I like big toys, as I found this a most pleasing vista to stare at for a while
Should have worn me earplugs though [:o]
A short search of the obvious place revealled no cache.
Surprise surprise
After reading the clue I had better luck at digging up some black gold
TFTC and detour to a spot I wouldn't have got to gawk at otherwise

stopped in to log a trig point, and got to thinking, that that tree over there would make a REALLY good spot for a cache. looked again at my GPS to find that some bodysteppingfreak had alrady put one there!
it is now well worn, left some african keyring and kept a dice.
nice.

This is a very spectacular lookout - and very interesting. Took a snake head a left GC Australian Event Hound. On the way back we drove towards Golden Highway, road was closed due to the last weeks heavy rainfall. But we drove over the bridge anyway - no problems, just some water.. Btw, the lid is broken, may not survive another rainfall.
Looked for it approx 40min. but couldn´t find.
But thanks for bringing me here

tftc, Very hard to open, and it looks as though we wern't the only ones who had found it hard to open, as it was broken at the end, and it was very wet inside.
Stopped in for a cuppa with the crew on the way further north. Met the mother of all GPS units on the trig station.
Thanks for bringing us here.

Easy find on the way to a job in the area. Dried inside the container, as it was wet from the rain. I love the artwork! good job. Took carabiner, left earplugs.
Found this great cache at 2:30pm on a very pleasant sunny day. We Both like looking at the hugh trucks and equipment that the mining industry use. We have driven past on the Highway many times and never once ventured up this road. So it was a good excuse to do so and the added bonus of finding the cache and to look at the view.
Took: Green Bag with pink keycharms in it.
Left: 2 Velcro ties and a green car.
Thanks BodySteppingFreak for the hide.

Found it, hmm different view, interesting to get so close to work area. Some wildlfe close. Put items in new bag and left some loot! Thanks for the drive.
Found this one at 1045hrs. Enjoyed the view of the mine and workshop and watched a few of the big trucks doing their thing. Haven't been out that way since the late 80's, thanks for taking me back there.

I was looking around for someone strong to help me get the lid off. Maybe one of the boys in their big toys ... but they were too busy defacing the landscape. If you've every flown over the valley, you realize how scarred the countryside is. I'm with the locals - ban 'em. I'll just step down from my soapbox now. Took TB. Thanks.
As this is overlooking my work I thought I'd drop in for another cache check for the owner. Dropped a mining Travel Bug while here too. Cache is still there, though hid is more exposed than it used to be; crack in lid still seems OK. Left some earplugs also.
Was quite surprised to find a dedicated viewing area for a mine?! Interesting look though. TNLN. TFTC.
Definitley a lookout with a difference.
Found easily - love the colourful container. The lid looks as though it has been chipped in an attempt to get it off though it should still keep the contents safe and dry.
Thanks for the cache BSF!

Found the cache at 3pm. Very interest to see "BIG toys" WOW!! Great spot!!! No swap except took TB. Thank you for organise the cache and hunt.
3rd of our local night mission hunt, got here about 9:30pm. SarahDazz found it first after I foolishly pointed out the most likely place to find according to the hint.
Nice view even at night if mines are your thing.
Dropped Folding Floridian Traveler Travel Bug, took nothing.

Found this one with only minimal searching, and then this was only because i was doing it with out the GPSr.
Cache contents a little damp, and container had been slightly damaged around the opening.
love the art work BSF.
Took CITO module left some stikers
the locals were very busy today with their black rocks.

With the caravan in tow we tried to find the right entry point for this cache. Had some trouble and ended up on an unauthorized road. We looked a bit conspicuous and were pulled over by a security person for the mine. Said we were trying to get to a lookout which he knew about so he got us permission to continue on the road with him as our escort. After he left us we went looking for the cache and we couldn't find it. Looked everywhere around and in the tree we thought it would be in but to no avail. Oh well that's the way it goes sometimes. Thanks guys.
Unarchiving cache.
Cache returned.
This one has a terrain rating of 1, which indicates it is wheelchair accessible although the logs suggest that may not be correct. Before you enable it, would you mind checking the terrain rating and updating if necessary.
thanks

After a couple of false starts with no closed signs and private property, we worked out that mapsource doesn't take into account mining companies changing roads etc. We eventually we found a road that took us in the right direction.
A quick look around and we found the cache. The lid has been broken although it still seems to be doing the job. We added a small silica gel packet to the log book bag just to see if it can keep the moisture away.
TNLN Thanks for the interesting location. Spent some time at the lookout, not much happening down below. A big dump truck and a landcruiser passed on the road below which put things into perspective.

Interesting location. Nice stop on the way to Newcastle. Grabbed the "Star Gazer" TB hoping to send it north in a couple of weeks. Cache slightly damp, but it was raining fairly consistently.
Well hidden, walked around and around GZ at least a dozen times before delving deeper. Interesting spot, how many mines have there own lookout?
Left some triple j stickers and Stare Gazer TB, Took lock out padlock.

As I said the cache was very wet so I put the log in a snap lock bag after trying to dry it then I stuffed the end with Maccas napkins to soak up and further leakage. Took Multi Tool (because I could not get it back in and left a CITO kit) the view was interesting if different. More interesting is this place being provided in the first place someone at head office must have thought it provided “an atmosphere of transparency to the operation to put the community at ease†.

After running around being a Rat-in-a-maze (GCMN50), we continued further north to find another BSF virgin.
After discovering that the mapping software I was using didn't think most of the minor roads out this way just didn't exist, we decided to act a little 'lemming' like, and pick the first road go in roughly the right direction.
Watching the arrow swing the right way, and the numbers counting down proved it to be the right road after all.
I always look in the most obvious spot first (especially considering BSF's prediliction for trees), but found I needed to go a few a few steps further in my investigations. Little Miss Rat was thrilled to find this cache, cleverly hidden with it's 'party-camo' paintjob. She decided on the sleepmask, and we left a pliers tool, UFO stickers and the ever-present carabiner.
Thanks for the fun. We took note of the interesting cap contents, ready for the next in the series to appear.
