Visited cache but it needs replacing. Will arrange this with geogourmet soon.
I searched for around 30 minutes and did not find this cache. I found a spot that would have been perfect, but there was nothing but mulch there.
Had no luck with this hide today. Even though the GPSr was a bit erratic, I could get the reading down to 2 metres. Using the hint, I could only spot the one stump and that was empty. Maybe I was just cache blind !! Thanks for the hunt geogourmet [B)]
Found whilst showing some friends kids for the first time. They loved it. Did a couple of swaps. TFTC.
After some nearby overnight camping with Mudbrick and Jacko83 we headed to a couple of caches near the carpark. After taking off our overnight backpacks the stroll to this cache felt like a walk in the park - even if we did take the much longer way around. It's a great location which was very popular today.
Thanks, geogourmet and killerbunnies.
Thanks, geogourmet and killerbunnies.
After an overnight hike with Mudbrick and Pacman we came back to the car, set our bags aside and after a quick rest went to this cache. Took the more scenic circuit and Mudbrick retrieved the hide. Beautiful place for a cache. TFTC today
Out on a day trip caching and 4x4ing with some friends (we took them caching back in Jan and they loved it) but wanted to add some 4x4ing to it as well. Beautiful day for a day out....

We were out for a 4wd trip and to pick up some caches along the way. We absolutely loved this area. We put it on our to camp list for the near future. Thanks for the cache Geogourmet and thanks for showing us this awesome spot.
this was number four on a trip to wombat state forrest. a nice walk along the river had has heading up the hill and onto a small goat track. being a hot summer day i was not looking forward to going of the track, we were a bit puzzled as there was not much suggested by the hint but in the end we found it at what use to be part of the hint. cache is in good condition and has a leg less lizard underneath it.
Fairly short walk from O'Briens where we were camping. Location doesn't quite match the clue but still in an obvious place. Still in good condition even though the last find was months ago. TFTC!
Had a hunt around for this one, and came up empty. Decided we where causing more damage to the environment than we should in trying to find it. Tree cover and cloud cover meant we could not get closer than 16 meters no matter where we walked. One for another day when the GPS wants to play a bit nicer.
What a gorgeous area, this was the first find of the day for me found just before I started on the East river walk is was a dewy misty morning and made you happy to be alive!
O'Brien's Crossing is such a fantastic place. Quiet (even with muggles everywhere) and a great spot for throwing rocks in the water. Found with TheSneakyOne and TheRiddellFive.
Out caching with GeoFiance. As it was the last weekend of the school holidays and the weather was nice there were many muggles around the area. Small scurry up the hill required, a good find. Thanks for the cache.
Out and about with junglejodes and the future son-in-law so she could get more involved in geocaching. We made the future son-in-law scramble up the hill and the log book was duly signed.
Love this part of the world.
Thanks for the cache geogourmet

Found soon after setting out on a Tyronne Thomas overnight walk up and down the Lerderderg River. Quite a hard walk! Thanks geogourmet.
In absolutely the middle of Utopia (that is for campers anyway) is this great little gem.
With only one half of the bananas out camping with friends this one was sort to show others about the sport.
Inside was a softly padded Star Wars Stopwatch that has been left for others as no swaps were available.
This one is an old cache and still in great condition.
I hope that geogourmet still enjoys reading these logs after such a long time as this one in a ripper.
Anyway after this treasure we set off for the Tunnel but only to end up totally lost. Thank god for GPS.

We set off to do the tunnel circuit track and soon discovered that the track hadn't been maintained in years and on the latter half of the track we were bush bashing for real! Any way nothing to do with the cache, which was an easy find even though there was a massive amount of GPS wander today. I think it's the gum tree throwing the co-ords off. Thanks for the cache. Took nothing, left nothing.

This was a nice find on the return trip here.
I walked back along the creek bed to get to GZ.
The find was fairly quick and I sat and watched as some campers packed up the camp below and moved on.
Nice way to finish the morning at the park and I will return soon to calim some more smileys.

I've never been to this part of the world before and was enjoying the drive and the caching through the Lerderderg Forest a lot. O'Brien's crossing was really like a beautiful little oasis in the midst of the dry forest all around - and, on this very beautiful Sunday, it looked as though many others were of the same opinion, as the crossing area must have had 20 or so vehicules parked around about and there were a few tents set up by the river too. I was even held up on my walk to the cache by a group of 5 women who really weren't the bushwalky types and I was forced to dawdle along behind them on the single-file track until they decided to cross the river and continue on the easier side. Once at GZ, I was tricked by something that matched the hint, before checking a little further away and spotting the cache.

Thanks geogourmet - a lovely spot

After parking at the crossing we had a short walk back up the road across the river (dry) and up the hill a bit of a look then found it had to keep a eye out as there were muggles at the creek camping TFTC TNLNSL
A lot of years since I have been here, its still nice, thanks for the cache geogourmet. TNLNSL.
This is the second time I have tried to get this cache. I have updated my GPS and found it, on the last attempt I walked all over the side of the hill.TFTGC.
Students from Noble Park SDS have decided to incorporate Geo-caching with their entire program this week and discovered that they could find a couple of Caches while walking Byers Back Track from O'Briens Crossing back to Blackwood.
Enjoyed the this dicovery before climbing up onto Byers Back Track and home. Cache is in good condition.
Thank you for taking the time to establish this cache.

Took the wrong path at first but soon realised my mistake. Found the cache after many minutes walking around. A tree has fallen over the path so I resorted to the clue. The cache is quite safe but the fallen tree has ruined the hide somewhat. It may need checking. Nice little spot here. Muggles camping close by but were not interested in me. Have been bushwalking around here a while ago - didn't know I was so close to your little treasure. TFTC geogourmet
As per my 'found' log : I think the cache might need a bit of an update. The feature mentioned in the clue has been fallen on, and the cache might be in danger of going it Parks ever make it in here and clean up the track. On the plus side the container is fine and the contents are dry.
I have only recently converted myself from 'non-caching other half' into an actual cacher. If as owner of this cache you don't want me to log this find, please feel free to delete it. I was present at the time my caching partner LouiseAnn signed this log, I hunted and was involved in the signing, I just didn't have my own profile at the time.
walked through boggy ground good fun it took us aaaggggeeeeeeesssssssssssss! I found it before friends but they logged it before me (in logbook) annoying but true tftc !!!!!!!!yayyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After spending a few very pleasant hours fossil hunting with my other half, the nephews and their dad nearby, we all decided pick up a few caches in the local area before heading home. This one was our last find for the day before the weather well and truly closed in, thank fully we were in the car and on the main roads before that happened, I hope all the campers in the area stayed dry!! After a bit of searching we found the cache, but I think it might need a bit of an update. Stumped. Hot day high 30's the river crossing was nice...the stump, well it had me stumped...
Phew! This was hard yakka. We had to go up and over the hill twice in the afternoon heat - the lower half of the loop track was under water. We wandered around a bit with the satellites at GZ, but found it in the end. All dry too! Thanks for the adventure.
A tree has fallen knocking over the stump. Cache was placed in the dirt covered with rocks at the same spot.
Nice spot hidden out of the way....plenty of water in the creek.
Thanks for the cache!

Found on a round trip walk from O'Briens Crossing to the "tunnel" on a cool winters day. Great to see so much water in the river for a change and also made for slippery conditions getting to the cache the way we came from. TNLNSL TFTC
Pleasant walk down the river's edge to this one. And the river was flowing strongly for a change.
After a past DNF, finally came into GZ unobstructed by the naked campers. A nice cache in a great place. Thanks.
On our annual Friends Weekend away, we did the shortest walk we could find before we opened the bar, but of course we went the long way round. Great views, and good fun. TFTC. TNLN.
We had intended to camp near here but opted for the Blackwood caravan park instead. Glad we did as the river is looking pretty manky. Cache is in a great hiding spot - shouldn't be spotted there by accident. TFTC
Found after a little bit of searching and clumbering up the hill. Co-ords where a little out so resorted to the clue and had cache in hand in less than five minutes.

Nice to see water in the river again after a government decision to try to revive this beautiful river, and allow a bit of flow to help it heal.
This was a pleasantly short walk from the crossing afetr finding the 2 caches a LONG way downstream.
A nice sized, well hidden, well stocked container was easily found in the obvious spot.
Has anyone else noticed the rock covering it is the shape of Australia?
Nothing taken or left this time, thanks geogourmet and friends for this cache.

After our ten k walk down the river to find the two new caches it was time for lunch at O'Brien's Crossing before wandering up the river to find this cache. No skinny dippers today in fact did not see another soul. Nice area for a cache with plenty of room across the river for camping and BBQing. Thanks for placing this cache.
Popped in Beetle Bailey TB for a visit.

Trying out my new GPS. It was a bit of a climb to get to the cache - must get some good walking shoes.maybe with some crampons! Beautiful reflections in the water along the way and a great BBQ area. Thanks killerbunnies. TNLN.
DNF for this one, under slightly amusing circumstances...
On walking to gz from Obriens Crossing, i can accross some skinny dippers in the pool just below the creek... when they saw me the screamed... and (with their little white butts following them) ran to their tents to collect their clothes, After which they went back to swimming with appropriate clothing. They kept on watching me and i felt somewhat uncomfortable sitting on the hill above their swimming hole given that which had just happened... so thought i would leave this one untill next time. I am in the area frequently so hopefully wont be too long until i return.
Cheers

To think all the times we have enjoyed this spot and never knew there were caches hidden nearby.
Our third and final cache for the day. We did the tunnel circuit walk and failed to find the foot track back from Amblers Lane so were walking along the river bed back to O'Briens crossing. We scaled a cliff to try and regain the track succesfully and weren't too worried about the cache but more concerned about locating the track. Once we regained the track we plugged in the waypoint to find that we were less than 10m from GZ. What a suprise. A quick retrieval and we were on our way back to the car. Nice spot, NINO SL TFTC
Nice cache, although i'll like ti when we have to walk further to get to it. Had lots of fun exploring the old mines around the area as well.

I have walked this track numerous times and never get sick of it. Thanks for the excuse to visit it again, even if it was only for a brief outing. Nice hide in a beautiful, if at times somewhat overused area. Last time I was here, there was a mob of hippies camped nearby, bashing drums and assorted other percussive instruments, including my car door. Not quite what one needs as one nears the end of a 2 day walk and a beautiful, quiet night's camping further downstream. But I guess it takes all types. TNLN. Many thanks.
Were all set to find this cache when a band of 4wd's turned up right near GZ for lunch, will have to have another go at this one, next time not around lunch time

An almost found today. All quiet in the busy car park. Campers setup and grogging along nearby (workmates on a "team building" exercise they told me. I hope they clean up properly) Nice walk along the stream. The water is crystal clear....hmmm any trout nearby I wonder. Hop the stones across the creek. What's this.....smoke just around the bend! Campfire ! And two campers all set up not 40M from GZ in direct sight. So close ! Next time for sure. Thanks.

A lovely walk to the cache today. No-one was close by thought there were a few campers within earshot. Would have been peaceful if the dirt bike riders had nicked off.

Eighth of Twelve cache finds for the day, the cache was found at 12:10. This was a great spot and I enjoyed the walk to GZ along the river. Thanks geogourmet for the cache.
Found today by Mr Emu & Demon Boy @ 12.30 p.m. GAFF1. A great area that we had never visited before - this turned out to be an interesting cache for a number of reasons. First, we saw our first snake for the year - lying in the middle of the road about 10km east of here. No cause for alarm, but made us keep our eyes peeled while walking over the rocks as we made our way along the river to the cache. Second, a female camper on the other side of the river was making the most of a quiet weekday to "get back to nature", while she and her boyfriend sat near their campfire. Once again, no cause for alarm, but the 9-year-old Demon Boy was advised to pay particularly close attention to the GPS, while Mr Emu continued to watch the track for snakes. Definitely something that hasn't happened before when we've been caching!
This was a really lovely area to have a cache - well done to Geogourmet and killerbunnies for your choice of location. Thanks for the cache!

A lovely spot indeed. I have camped here before, some years back. Rained buckets at the time! Today was lovely though. Nice warm sunshine, gentle breeze, just about perfect.
Didn't think the GPS woulde be much help in this deep gully but it wasn't far off at all. No swaps cos Geojen couldn't get up the last little pinch. She is getting on I suppose.
Thanks very much.

Had 2 previous DNA's (Did Not Attempt) on this one during other visits to Lerderderg, due to campers nearby.

I was trying for three caches in the area, but the road to the other two was closed, and I didn't have time to walk to them. However, this one was accessible and, after a short but enjoyable walk, I landed in the area of GZ. The GPS wandered up, down, and all around for about 5 minutes before it finally led me to the cache.
