ORNITH and I could not find this cache. Neat trail and well used, too. The cows kept a close eye on us, and we on them. That's a big tree that fell over! Must have been quite a storm.

Thanks for the adventure, this is a nice area.

04-Oct-09
Cache site was under a a large Macrocapa tree which has now been felled by strong winds.

26-Sep-09
Tree uprooted and cache container lodged in the mud. I tried to hide it a little but as the tree is no longer standing the original hiding spot no longer exists. Probably worth a visit when you next in the area. Cheers.

26-Sep-09
The tree has been "blown" over and the cache was merely lodged in the mud. Suggest the owner visit this soon or it will be muggled. TFTC TNLNSL

19-Sep-09
Muggles everywhere today walking their dogs and a van of workers spreading gravel so we lingered around a bit but a quick find when we got to GZ. Gotta be careful where you tread and watch out for the cow pats T4TC.

Found it eventually, may need moving if anyone is planning on collecting firewood or tidying up the fallen tree. Been up this way hundreds of times oblivious to this cache, not too hard on a mountain bike. TFTC

06-Sep-09
Mr D&H was on to this one. Said tree has toppled. Cache could do with some maintenance, now rather exposed. Cache moved slightly uphill and covered so not exposed to the elements.
Mrs D&H was hesitant of the udder-less cows, and quit the scene, but Mr and kids stayed and did the business. Some unusual notes left in the book, might want to check this one out.
Took one puzzle and squishy ball, to ease cache. Left one jandal and one keyring

Nice park that we have not been to before. Enjoyed the walk to GZ with a lovely rural outlook. The roots on one side of the hide tree have broken in a storm, and the tree leans slightly. May not last for ever. Thanks for bringing us here.

31-May-09
Nice hiding spot! - Team McMarshall removed Kiwibird Coin (and will have their first go at logging it online - or whatever we need to do with it...) and replaced with a VERY handy shower cap - incase of rainy conditions for next Geocache team...

Found it while my son was out running with franks bunch. Went for a quiet walk, first for a while with the gps, It was in an exposed positon so covered it as best I could. nothing in nothing out. Thanks for the cache.

08-Feb-09
I had parked the car at the bottom carpark and not the one suggested by the owner only because I had been to another nearby cache and then off to a third nearby cache. This entailed quite a blowout of a workout going up the hill. This gave me my weeks exercise all in one go.

Cheers for the cache.

I was in the area planning a new cache, this cache was exposed and totally visible to any passer-by. Re-hid it a little better.

Very nice walk today, sometimes raining, sometimes sunny, we catched sun, yahoo! Nice place for excersise. Thanks a lot, TNLN

09-Oct-08
Found easily and sat and admired the view for a bit. On the way back to the car I was almost stampeded by a herd of rounded up cattle, which was followed by what I thought was a male jogger wearing a tutu, but was just a red lightweight rainjacket tied around his waist. Looked a bit odd.

TNLN, Cheers.

5:20pm (3rd today)

As usual we choose the long route to this one (one day we will get so decent maps! Twisted ) the 'cows' almost put a premature stop to this one with Kathy (not helped by previous log entries for this one [:o)]) After a little assurance and convincing that 'cows' are herbivores and don't eat meat or attack people for fun we ventured forward [^]

Route was well used by joggers and walkers but cache site is sufficiently off the track to avoid attention. Great views! well worth the visit Smile

15-Sep-07
Third for the afternoon, on our way back from dropping people at the airport, what an awesome view back to the west from the car park. Nice easy walk and find .... thanks for showing us this spot and park.

01-Sep-07
After making sure of our caffeine fix we set off on our visit to some of mashnz cache sites. Cattle had left lots of evidence of having been around, but luckily must have wandered off. What a lovely park.

23-Aug-07
Stopped off here after visiting the Deaf Unit at Papatoetoe East School. Lovely area where you can park. Fantastic views!

The cache was relatively easy to get to, but there was a cow nearly sitting on GZ. I'm sure it was actually a Bull, however, as it had sharp horns and a willy. I'm a city kid, but aren't bulls dangerous?

Anyhow, armed with two long sticks I edged closer and the animal casually moved a few meters: enough to get in and out quickly. I discovered that I am very nervous around Cows Twisted

Thanks for a great detour from my day's tasks.

TNLN Signed the log. Thanks again!

Nice day for a walk, not too many other people around, just the joggers. The dogs enjoyed the chance for a bit of a run too. Well hidden, made sure we left it in the same state.

10-Feb-07
What a great park, we had never been to this part of it before. Beautiful, huge trees and hardly a muggle in sight. NG & AG lost interest in searching for the cache and went tree climbing instead. DG and HG found the cache and took out the mini dart board and put in a small bouncy ball. TFTC

04-Feb-07
Lovely views from cache site. Easy find.
Great old trees, obviously a favourite of the stock in this paddock, judging from the large paddies left behind.

29-Jan-07
Found the general area fairly easily given the title, but finding the cache took about 10 mins extra looking. Several muggles around, but with this cache it is easy to take another look at the vista until the coast is clear!
TNLN.

15-Jan-07

15-Jan-07
Thought this might be a quick cache after work. Well no, had to go the long way. A good site anyway. TNLN

08-Jan-07
I loved the site. Not sure if we parked in the right place - but we came through the park past the swimming pool, and the other playground under the pylon. It was great to get out and walk. We were thrilled to find Loonie and have taken him to put in our own geocache as soon as it has been reviewed.
We put in a NZ two-dollar coin as we left our intended item in the car in error!
Thanks.

01-Jan-07
Very quick find in a great piece of land. Almost feels like you are back in the country. TNLNSL

01-Jan-07
Never been to this neck of the woods. Nice park, good oppurtunity to stretch our legs after driving up from Waihi. Waited for a group of muggles to wander past while we were at GZ. Managed to sign log, re-hide and dash back to the car before the rain got us totally wet.
TNLN SL Big Grin Thanks for the cache.

13-Nov-06
Went about the travel bug entry backwards. Dropped off Loonie as per last entry! Please help him get to the Sydney Opera House! Thanks, Canoegals

12-Nov-06
Took a more adventurous way in to find the cache, walked past a few happy cows. This is a beautiful park just minutes from the big city. Awesome. Took nothing, left a Canada Pin, a coloured 25c coin and left Loonie the travel bug that travelled a very long way to get here! TFTC, Canoegals from Winnipeg, Canada

12-Mar-06
Second time we tried to find this spot, excellent place to be hidden, noted in the log book that if you look in southern direction the fourth power pylon is directly above our house. Throw a wave our way and you might get a reply lol. Exchanged braclet for pink panther travel bug wich is traveling north next week for a trip to bay of islands.

Dropped off the Pink Panther travel bug, finally. It has travelled from the wilderness just outside Halifax, Canada. Cunning place to hide the cache.

Easy find. Been here many times and isn't the surrounding landscape changing. Can remember when Totara Park was bounded by farms on this particular side! By the way, they are Macrocapas, not pines!

02-Jan-06
Given this cache is within 1 km of our house it seemed time to find it. Jack (3 years) took Poland Police badge and left a golf ball. Other cachers should watch the area for stinging nettle, it's easily avoidable. Nice spot, thanks Mashnz

01-Jan-06
Owner checked out cache, everything ok.
Happy new year!

12-Oct-05
After a short stroll from the previous find I was forced to shelter here as a rain squall passed through. Quick find on a sortof wet day.

18-Jun-05
After a rain-soaked round at the nearby Otara market, we decided to hell with the weather, we can't come this far south and not do 'Pines'. Yes, that's right, we had a nickname for this cache, as it had been on our to do list for quite some time! The stars had never lined up right for it until today...

So, after having a quick turn in the car at the lookout: "I'm sure it's really pretty when you can see further than 10m..." , we parked on the street and did the few hundred metres to find some rather succulent cow paddies, glistening in the driving rain. No worries finding the cache (look ma, no clue!) and a quick dart back to the car. No, we're not doing anymore caches today. [xx(]

Thanks for the cache!
