This is one of those logs you really don't want to write.... because this has been such a fun cache over the years and it's in a nice spot. But, it looks like the cache has gone. There have been no finds for over a year. Coming past today there were several previous finders in the group. We did our best to find the cache where it used to be and where it might have fallen to or be moved to, but no sign of it.
Spent about 10 minutes with others who had already logged this in the distant past. Hopefully it is still there and someone will manage to find it. It would be a shame if it is gone as it is rather old cache.
This one had us stumped even with jrb5050 and PC Sniff who had found it in the past. We also tried both ways but no luck but a lovely spot on a lovely day.
Found on a wonderful Dunedin's summer day out exploring the many tracks in the Silverstream valley area. luckily no sandflies today, but no eels or moreporks either... TFTC
Fifth find on a nice walk, took a bit of digging, container was soaked so drained water and did what we could to air out the log, still very soggy.
Found by O and T. Very well named cache as we got bitten by heaps of sandflies and saw an eel. No Morepork though. Too early in the day for them!
At last!- and it was such an easy find, today. I can't believe I had so much trouble before.
Log book a bit damp, but could still write on it. thanks Mcroni.

There were a LOT of places that could have hidden a cache so we were pleased to lay our hand on this quite quickly. Found with Aoraki Sheep.
Lots of muggles about but no one was interested in us inspecting the pipe and weir. Found with debsnz
The third time this month on this track, but it's a wee beauty so no problem coming back.
A warm early evening, with plenty of birdsong to be heard but no eels seen.
May have logged this as 2013!

Took a while for sure.
Heard some morepork... I think. Almost started looking so far that we might have came across some eels.

We decided to stop here on the way back from an FTF further up the path. Took quite a long time to locate, so many options!! TFTC!!!
No pipe dream this one.. more like a nightmare. Eventually found the cache still with it's wet log.
This cache took a fair bit of searching to find, a previous log helped and finally I spotted what I was looking for. The log book is rather damp still. There were no sandflies, eels or moreporks today, just a few muggles and their dogs enjoying the great outdoors. Cheers Mcroni for the cache.
I was totally distracted by a previous log saying I just had to climb over logs. While I hunted, scratched, prodded and poked in the bank behind the logs at GZ, Vicki immediately put her hand on the cache which was well hidden on the other side of the hint object. Unfortunately contents have got wet. Dried as best we could with resources available, but log book really is in need of some more extensive TLC. Thanks for placing this cache to tempt people out on this lovely walking track.
Even though one of us had found the cache before, we finally had to call in caching assistant Vicky to help- it took her 2 seconds to find it... Half Ball TB visited.
Again this cache was found with a person who is a boss of the group (so I heard). She went to it straight while we were having difficulty to find it. The log book is damp and all little items looked sad...
Just needed to climb over the logs that are out in front of the cache site and there it was tucked away safe and sound.
Once again, failed to find this cache. Workmen have been clearing willows in the area, operating big machinery, and they have piled up logs in a heap close to GZ, which made it awkward to search effectively.
Was in Dunedin to attended the first ever Mega in New Zealand. Managed to work it out so that I was able to team up with fozzmiester and agcnz and go on an 8 day caching trip around the South Island, this was day 2 of the road trip.
After finding GCPEZT - Whare Park (Otago), this was the next cache that we decided that would go and look for since we were in the area. The walk to GZ was fun and as we making our way towards GZ reading the cache page we noticed that the cache was a bit lonely and hadn't being found for over a year. Well this was going to be interesting and hopefully we will find it. The walk to GZ didnt take as long as we thought that it was going to take, arriving at GZ our trustful companion boxhill, who seems to have a six sense [B)] managed to find the cache very quickly. Maybe we should bring him along on these walks more often.
Glad that we were able to find the cache quickly and we werent eaten alive by the sandflies, sucked to death by the eels nor screeched by the moreporks. Thanks for placing this cache here at this lovely location and for bringing us to this spot, TFTC TNLNSL (5003). Must try and come back here on another trip in the evening to enjoy the night life.

A great location and a very enjoyable walk to a cache which really deserves more visitors. It was very satisfying when boxhill came up with the find after a short search. Hopefully this will put it back on the radar for many people. TFTC
Found as part of an 8 day NZ Mega Event trip. Day 2 - Dunedin and surrounds. Thanks to the owners of the 500 + caches which I had the pleasure to find along the way and which contributed to a very fun trip.

Found with agcnz, fozzmiester and Yeetrees, we decided to make a trip up the valley to try and find this cache which had gone a year without being found. Despite a bit of debate as to whether we were taking the best route we were soon at GZ and after a little while looking I spotted it in its well concealed hiding spot. Maybe I was just in the right place at the right time, or maybe I am the “Uber Finder” . TNLN SL TFTC
Found with Boxhill, fozzmiester and Yeetrees, we decided to make a diversion from the nearby MEGA event in the afternoon and hunt for this one as it hadn't been found for over a year. A very pleasant bush walk to get to it and the well-hidden cache was spotted by Boxhill after a short search by us all. The cache is in good order and we were quite surprised that nobody else from the event had attempted to go after it. Just shows how one DNF and a long period without a find puts people off even trying! Signed log, TFTC and for the enjoyable walk and satisfying find.
We hunted around in the embankment near the pipe for a bit but didn't find anything
Great hide - good walk
Cache was a little soaked from weather, dried it out as best i could.

Setting out for a hunt today this was quite a good point for a brief stop and find. This is a lovely area and all the walkways are pretty amazing!

Warning, spoilers included! Found after about 5 minute search. True to description, the cache is NOT right at the coords, but a few meters left of the pipe half-way up the bank. Appears to be in the intended spot, in good condition. TFTC!
Looked for quite a while amongst the undergrowth, found a likely spot but it was empty.
Found it at 15:17on a weekend walk, it's my 795th find.
Yep, sandflies about, much to my wife's annoyance.
TFTC Mcroni!

Attempted this one once before but only managed to get halfway there before the kids had had enough of walking and wanted to go home. Went for a quick run today and was soon there. It certainly is a pretty track and a nice area. Unfortunately I forgot to check the instructions I had read once before in a previous log and didn't have that log in Cachesense. Only vaguely remembered what it was and found the cache after 5 minutes of looking in various places. TFTC!
Nice to be going for a walk for a change rather than picking up roadsides and nice to log this as it was one of only four within ten kms of home coords. Credit goes to PB for turning up the cache
Took a bit of walking and a bit of hunting to get this one but it was certainly worth it.
nice stroll to collect the cache.. didnt take too long finding it either which was pleasing cheers.
nice walk up and back but also very nice place up there. took some time to have a look around after finding the cache.
Family walk to get this one, a bit of poking around and then reading the hint we managed the find. TFTC.
This is the fourth time I have looked for this, and the third in (obviously, ALMOST) the right place.
First time I was a New Boy, and I was looking in the creek, without the print-out.
With more experience I thought it had to be there somewhere, so I persisted. It's there alright.
In the meantime, I have probably walked past here 100 times. My dog knows the area better than most people.
+ Cartoon glasses cleaner (I think)
+ Paper clip
- Cartoon figurine

Enjoyed the walk into this one on a nice fine day. Took a bit of looking but eventually, aha! there it be. Noted the long time since the last visit, cache is fine, all dry inside and patiently awaiting the next finder.
Many thanks.
Many thanks.
Although I must have overlooked it a couple of times it is no longer not visible from any distance - the surrounds are getting a bit of a beating. That pipe must be popular... neat echo too. Lovely day for a wander along the racemans. TFTC!
Straightforward find just before some blackberry picking. Quite a nice spot for a picnic if there has been enough rain too sweep away the stagnant water that sometimes collects here. TFTC.

Had nice morning walk, followed by lucrative blackberrying session just across the weir. You can find potatoes, mint and raspberies here too- no doubt from the raceman's garden. Vicky's father used to tramp in the area, and apparently they used to wake up the raceman's dog as they went past and started it barking. Easy find- there was a trampled motorway straight to the hide. Picked up Sallie the Elephant TB1D1V7 to drop off at Whare Park, but am having trouble logging it.
What a glorious day for a cache hunt and an awesome spot to end up at. Have spent many weekends at the Waiori Scout camp but have never ventured any further. Now we are keen to return on mountain bikes some time.
We were hot on someone's trail according to the log book. Canadian Geo Coin had only just been dropped off when we arrived.
Left Sallie here in the bush.

Hint helped, sure we looked everywhere first time we were here in the summer, lots of mud on the way in and stream was extra cool but a good walk

And there it was! No problem at all, sure I looked there last time too - ah well it's still a lovely spot and nice walk. Thanks for the opportunity to visit again!
I decided to have a second look at this one after reading Gibler's log. Got to GZ, and found the cache well visible and in the open. I didn't even need to look for it! Well, that's certainly not where it was on my previous visit, as I had searched the very spot quite carefully. I tried to re-hide a bit better, but there doesn't seem to be much to hide a box in where I found it.
I enoyed the walk and didn't mind doing it a second time. Thanks for the nice cache.

[Well I'm pleased to report the cache is both where I think it should be and bone dry too. It was a tough area to get a good signal for some reason. I actually approached GZ from the top. The co-ords themselves are pretty good. A tip for others: ]hole in bank near obvious object[ explict clue:] 1.5 m below where pipe emerges, 1.5 to left[.TFTC. TNLN]
Had a look for this cache after completing the walk over Powder Hill and the Chalkies. Spent a whole hour looking - very thoroughly - but no luck. Considering that the cache has not been found in one and a half years, and that there has been a major flood since, it's probably gone missing. It would be nice if the cache owner could check and post a note on this page. Thanks for a lovely walk anyways.
We're pretty sure it's missing, had a reasonably good look but no luck.
Considering that the cache hasn't been found since 2005 we think it needs to be replaced.
Cheers,
Wallaceduo

A lovely day for it after popping up to the Chalkies. Gave it a fair go but I'll be back.
Not where expected it, but got there in the end! Beautiful morning, if a bit damp from dew, and shining cuckoo singing and south island robin heard singing from the cache site. No moreporks or eels though, sadly.

Took advantage of the holiday (and the presence of this cache) to explore some of the tracks in this delightful valley. Have been here several times before, usually on the way to somewhere else to do a day's tramping.
Weather had improved over Sunday, but greenery was still wet and cold. Was about to give up when a couple of fantails bobbed into view. Watched their antics for a bit and then decided that they were a good omen so went back for one last look, and there it wasn't, but no, try deeper ..., yes!, there it was.
+ tiger (ex Bethune's gully yesterday. This tiger shopuld be a TB -- it sure has travelled!)
- squeezy lemon.
Went on and did the Raceman's track, looking for a cache spot, but no luck -- good spots had zero coverage; spots with coverage were not compelling.

1122hrs.out for a run and decided to stop for this one, filling in the log and sandflies started zeroing in, + robotic dog(ex Botanical Gardens), - the black spider
A quick find before making a crack at my 100th find tomorrow.. should reduce the stress!
A lovely walk in, in the evening, just before dusk.. my trusty new GPSmap 76S never lost coverage on the way in, but it was pointing us across the stream when we arrived - I decided to ignore that, and have a look at the hint. A short hunt later and it was found.
There weren't many sandflies around.. bothering us at least! But it's definitely a lovely spot. I'll have to come back for a walk again at a later stage.
+ Beetle, and a spider
- Action Scouting TB
Both the Southern Geocoin and Reg the Dunedin Bear visited.

Got there just as it started to rain - adding insult to injury, couldn't locate the cache. After a total drenching time ran short so went home to dry off. Will return some time in the future to have another hunt.
Nice reason for an evening walk. Cleverly hidden cache![:-)]. Didnt notice sandflies until we stopped to fill in the log, then it was time to get moving!!! Cheers Teambee
had no luck with this one, did not want to do to much damage to the plants... some, people turn up, so I left and will try another day...

A well named cache- the sandflies are shocking here! A pleasant walk on a lovely evening. Very sunny here even though most of the city was under a blanket of fog. Nice little hidey-hole. TNLN. Thanks.
Grrr - I thought this was going to be a quick and easy "find" after dinner tonight. It wasn't.
I ran out of time and I thought I heard "Sammy the Strangler" in the bushes.

This was hot, real hot and i'm not talking about the sunbather either! As to The bohemain and NSV. no trade. Thanks
A brand new cache less than 8km from home, and it gets done at lunch time! Oh well... very pleasant walk tonight anyway. No sign of the eel or morepork, but the sandflies were in attendance. Swapped Daffy Duck for the yoyo. Thanks
Glorious sunny day, great walk in the bush, a bit of history thrown in: excellent cache. Can't ask for more really. . And FTF as a bonus ! Did this as a long lunchtime dash with T.B. and H-man, but no swaps sorry. I didn't have my caching gear with me - heck, we only had one GPS between the three of us! Thanks Mcroni, another cache to recommend!
Cheers,
G.

I saw that the cache had been listed before lunch, but I thought it would be considerate to wait until after lunch before searching for it (as I've had the bulk of the FTF's recently ). Cheers, Donovan.
Out with the Geocaching lads for another lunch time wander.
What a fantastic spot on such a splendid day. The cache site was busier than the Octagon on a Friday afternoon what with the ladies walking group and the young lady sun bathing in the grass. Beautiful area and know it well.
Top cache location thanks mcroni.
