Always frustrating to log a DNF, especially when you read the previous logs saying "easy" etc. It's only obvious when you've found it!!

Found both no trouble, except a beat around the rocks. All locked up again. Sorry we didn't have a magnet! T.N. left a garnet. TFTC. The Garnets

Found part one of this cache today, just had the waypoint to go by & no other clues. Next time I'll come more prepared! Great views, it must have been impressive to see the water going over the spillway during the floods..
Thanks for the cache I shall return!

GPS would not settle at both waypoints, wasn't keen looking through the long grass in snake breeding season anyway. Not a very foot friendly area but nice views anyway. Oh well, another DNF.

14-Mar-09
Nice setup!!!
Had to wait quite a while before a wedding photo session at WP1 had finished, but afterall we managed to finish the multi!
Great views at WP2

Cloudy day.. GPS had us climbing all over the place... Still no luck in tracking this one down... Almost ready to throw the GPS into the Dam at this point... *laughs*.. Was good to stop there on the way to Winton though

Found the key container, using the co-ordinates posted by Temingi, but nothing further.
I had two Colorados there neither sharing the same opinion about where the final location was...

DOH!!

The lid to the key container is perished from the heat/sun and is now broken and open to the air.

It could do with a refurbish.

Unless I can find someone to take over maintenance on this one I will disable this cache shortly. Anyone interested?

29-Jul-08
Its still there!Found by Temingi with help from my cousin. We think the south for the Key Cache should be 23degrees 39.119 but agree with the East.Searched for the keycache and gave up .Went to the main cache site and found it !With this added incentive we returned to the Key cache site and after 15 mins were rewarded for our extra effort. So back to main cache and back to replace key.By the way there is only one key in the container.TNLN SL Thanks for the caches.

Tried with a geomate a second and third time to find the key. The cache is fairly easy and exactly on the co-ords., however the key must have gone walk about. been a while since it was last found, is it still in place? The dam looks great with all that water behind it.

After my string of quick finds in the Emerald area yesterday, this one slowed me down a little. I took probably a good half an hour to find the first WP, and probably a similar time to locate the cache itself.

When found, of course, it stood out like the proverbial DB's.

Grabbed the Generic Geocoin that was resident, and swapped a magnet or two.

Found at 0730 hrs.

Find number thirteen for the trip out west and up north.

Cheers

This cache will need some maintenance because the 1st caches lid has cracked and you will probably have have a cup of water in there when it rains.

Thanks,
Camstal

On the way back from Camp Fairbairn so for something to do dropped in Generic Geocoin and swapped magnets.

Thanks,

Was running short of time when I used the Google Earth plugin to transfer this cache and several others to my GPS. Didn't have a printout of the web-page, so I only found the first cache, and didn't have the coordinates for the second. Couldn't figure out what the key was for. Hope to have another go at doing it properly sometime soon.

Did take a couple minutes to find the key. GPS was bouncing around a bit as we approached the main cache but once it had settled down we were right on top and found it easily. We left the Great Smoky Mountain Geo Coin. Thanks for bring us to this cache all the way from the UK. Worth the trip even if the water was a bit low. Why is everyone complaining about the rain?

We were able to do this one with the caravan on the back. Went to the first location, enjoyed the view, found what we were looking for and headed off the find the treasure. Again a nice look and the box was found without any problem. TNLN as we did not have a magnetic item with us. Thanks Skid Lid for bringing us to this area.

27-Apr-07
Hi Everyone,
Found the key but not the petty cash box.

Might try and have another crack finding it in a few weeks!!

Skid Lid, Is there supposed to be 2 keys in the 1st stage cache because there wasn't when we went and nobody was around.

Hopefully more people find this cache Big Grin

Thanks,

Camstal

A good one to finish off on our way back from up north. fairly easy find, with a bit of a track starting to appear at the cache site. Enjoyed the break for smoko at the picnic area. Been a while since we used to come out here for ski racing and ski camping weekends. TFTC. TNLN.

Quick trip out to the Dam to satisfy my geocaching fix and drop of a TB and pick up a Coin. Also a bit stunned to find a TB that wasn't logged (yet?) i think I may have seen this one before (TBKZWV - Goanna???) Taking a wild stab here as I forgot to get the tracking number.

Thanks,

This one really tested our endurance in the forty degree heat, but all in all the cache was an easy one. Found the key without too much trouble then trundled over to the cache which had escellent co-ords. Thanks for the cache guys, but I think we used a bit of water from the dam too.

Found the cache at 8am. I loves your cache so pretty one. Also like multi cache too. Lovely picnic area. What pity the water is very low... Left Geocoin. Thank you for organise the cache and hunt.

10-Oct-06
I had no problems finding the key. The box took a bit of scrambling around till the GPS settled down. The the hard bit, getting the key back. I had to wait quite some time for a muggle to stop enjoying the sunset.

Joe Possum and partner visited Magneto on a fresh morning with brilliant clear skies. The tide was wayout on the water. Easy find for the key but the GPS was diffident about the location of the cache. But a systematic search of the likely spots soon located the cache. Took Platypus magnet and left Rubyvale gemstone magnet. Also took Geocoin. Thanks to Skid Lid for this interesting cache.

17-Jun-06
Nice spot. Would look much better if there was water! Left Safety magnet and took Isle of Man. Also dropped off Geocoin.

26-May-06
First ever cache i found,it won't be the last.

- spent far too long looking for the key, in between not looking suspicious when people turned up, and trying to stay out of sight of the people on the water, (heaps of boats even though the tide was out)...as usual just as I was about to give up - eureka...on to the box - much easier...
Took nothing, Left: you guessed it - a magnet (all about 'its where you are going' - rather appropriate for geocaching I thought)
thanks for the cache...

Found this cache with a couple of friends whilst showing them the sites around the Emerald area. No visit to Emerald would be complete without a visit to the soon to be dried up Fairburn Dam. Would not recommend walking between caches as we did during the middle of the day and having a few Bundy rums down the hatch.

I was accompanied by Jimw83 and 'friend'. Thanks!

Found it!
More when we are back in Germany.

Thanks and best regards,

Thankyou for this cache. Took Mr a while to find the key box (lovely sticker design!), very clever cache though. Holidaying from Melbourne, good cache for our holiday! Great idea, one to use in the future!

Team OrrClan successfully located Magneto on 6 June. A clever multi-cache. Took me a little while at both locations to find the key & then the cache. Both found in good condition. A pretty impressive dam I must say but a pox on the flies! Took fish magnet & left a Rastaman magnet. Also took travel bug Dutch Romeo (the first TB we have encountered!). Will take it to a cache somewhere near a decent size town to try & help it on its way to rendezvous with TB Dutch Juliet in the good old US. Thanks Skid Lid for the enjoyable challenge. Cheers, Team OrrClan

Returning from "Minerva" and decided to drive by and complete cache at night...

No muggles around though heaps of boats on the dam for night-time Surprised

Final cache was somewhat tricky to find when at location due to nightfall and some basic tree cover....Would be easy in daylight hours Big Grin

Took no magnets, however left three small superstrong, rare-earth magnets (Neodymium Iron Boron), used for holding maps to walls etc. For their size they are 5-7 times stronger than the equivalent standard magnets.

Swapped TBs....

Thanks to Skidlid for the cache.....Lex
