21:20 Did not have the 'Archive' note so took the 'Alfredon' road from near Castle Point after finding 'Suicide Rock' - thanks again guys!, then 'Route 52' to Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu . Had a fruitless search - obviously but did take a wide-screen format photo (had to really...). Pity it was not there as it would have been #9 of 'the long way home' tour.

Yes - it took us a long time to get there (2+ hours) and yes, the road was extremely boring. I did not realise that there was so much 'nothing but empty paddocks' (as all the sheep were on the bl00dy road) for about 100km... 2 4WDs, 36 rabbits, 4 hares, 1 horse and 2 cows. 17,564 corners (approx) and now I know why I no longer have any desire to drive that way again. But it was fun. One day if I am really bored, I will do it again - towing a caravan? Not!

Racing the failing light failed, so cache hunting was by torchlight. Then starvation drove us to Ekatahuna where we had the best burgers and chips (ever!) at 10:30pm and then onto Hastings where we are currently being held prisoner in the smallest cell of the worst hotel ever! And I think the $59 room is what we paid $70 for! Mind you, we did wake them up after 11pm, so whatever... Cachers Rock!

Yes well what can I add to Gencusters log....a very long road nearly as long as the placename and yes very boring along Route 52, plenty of domesticated wildlife attempting suicide ...This would have been No 9 but sadly we did not know it was archived, I don't think even if I was verrry very bored I will be coming via this route again, there are much better ways to get here....!!! This was a road trip and as such it really asked to be travelled....We can now say been there done that!!!
Thanks for putting a cache here, sadly no log to prove we were here, but the photo says it all...

Desperately wanting to do this cache, but not wanting to waste such a long journey. Is the cache missing?

Travelling with the amazing XenaCommander after the weekend at Waipawa attending the wonderful fun Cold Duck motorcycle rally..... not missing my own bikes one bit (shhhhhh dont tell them)
XC lived in the area as a kid so he is still able to recite this placename from memory... how cool is that Smile
We had great fun hunting despite a DNF... lots of great hidey holes available on both sides of the road.
Hope the cache is not lost but if so please replace it soon, it is a great spot for tourist cachers to hunt.

XC and TechnoKitten were attending the 2007 Cold Duck Motorcycle Rally along with hundreds of other bikers..
After Thunder Run we decided to hunt a local cache and this was closest..
We were a bit worried about the previous DNF but decided to go anyway.
Parked Xena and Argo near sign and took mandatory Pic...
Then the hunt begins... Scrape... Poke... Prod... hmmmm
Try here... Hmmm no.. What is a tree with a long name???
hmmm We had a very good look in all the likely places.. TK using all her expertise too.. and NOTHING!!!!
I don't think it is there any longer and recommend a visit by the owner or post a more direct clue so it is not so vague.
I logged Grindal TB through as she liked the placename.
Hope it gets replaced or if owner wants we can place a container next trip if they are no longer around.
Cheers.
XC

Oh no... This currently rates as our most disappointing geocaching experience - and may well remain so at our age because we will never retunr here.

We last visited this unique spot in 1979 whilst on holiday with our young sons from the UK. On our return this time we decided to pay a return visit and then found there was a cache nearby - brilliant!

Unfortunately, despite a very long search of over an hour we could not find the cache. If we interpreted the clue correctly it is on the other side of the road from the sign (but we tried both sides). Unfortunately there has been a lot of tree-surgery and the area around the big tree has been disturbed and now has large branches laying around it. Maybe the cache has gone or dsturbed, or maybe we were just very unlucky. Whatever.. can we implore the owner not to just leave it on the floor? There are several potentially much safer hidey holes for it very close by. We'll upload some pics when we get back to the UK in a couple of weeks...

Found easily after a nice drive along coastal trial from Karakau Beach. All our toys would not fit in the cache so took nothing. Thanks Carla

Made a major detour to find it but worth it to be to the place with the world longest placename.

to pronounce the name took us longer than finding this cache Wink
Merry X-Mas!

Did bike ride to Wimbleton (no time for tennis) and home again, was going to place TB but found it was only a mirco when I got there, so just wouldn't fit, no matter how much I squashed.

Found with sninja on our way down south. Surprised to see few cachers have ventured out this way.

Having got here by turning off at Waipukurau towards Porangahau (follow the signs closer to the location - you don't go into Porangahau itself, it's just around the corner), you can continue this way to go down Route 52 all the way to Masterton and from there the world; be careful about interpreting your map, as several towns that you might think are on the route that you therefore think you need to turn towards are in fact short distances off it - so examine the AA road signs at the intersections, and stay on route 52 unless you know what you're doing.

It is a fair bit slower (and over 100km longer) than the more inland route normally taken to go south from Waipukurau to Masterton, mainly due to windy roads, but also storm damage to the roads I assume is typical at this time of year - it might well be quicker to go back up instead after hitting this cache.

TNLN, removed some rubbish.

Easy find in the drizzle as we passed by on our way to Herbertville.

Took a little while to find as the GPS was a little way off. Used the clue in the end and found it no problem.
