We were up at a camp nearby and the cache was on our hit list.
The cache notes were read and we managed to short cut the multi by reading the sign first before doing donuts at the intersection in Alansee's car.
During a walk around the area on Saturday the GPSr indicated the track we required to go down for cache access. Please note that the main access track is closed by a gate some 600m from the cache access track. You cannot do what Feathertop and Oenze did and drive within spitting distance of the cache.
So, we returned on the Sunday for the cache.
Now, the cache track is somewhat of an obstacle course with pits and logs. Be careful.
We sent our novice cacher Rebecca in to spot and retrieve the cache.
With the cache log written and the cache replaced we headed back to base for lunch with the Shrek TB in hand.
Nice adventure.
Thanks for the cache.

What Riddell said! During the weekend we came across several places where the authorities have had to go to great lengths to discourage those who think they can to anything to the bush. Sad really. A lovely walk in the bush especially on a day like today, thanks.
I have been meaning to do this one for a ages as it has been my closest to home for a while now. Arriving at the crossways the signs were all standing and the info gathered for the drive to WP2. Once again it was plain sailing as we read of the trials of Hume and Hovell and suitably prepared we set off looking for the right place to drive to gz. Suffice to say it took two complete drives down the potholed road before we spotted the massive obstacle course that should defeat all but walkers. It looks like it was constructed by NRE in a tantrum! From there a lovely walk of around 400m to the cache which was quickly found thanks to coords and clues. A great cache to do today. Thanks high rollers. TO celebrate Oenze cut a stack of donuts back at WP1.
Find # 2152 and 13th of the day at 3:38pm. Accompanied by Feathertop on another day out caching. This has been on our to-do list for a while so we decided to try while we were in the area, we did all the sums but had a bit of trouble finding the way in so read a few loggs which helped, on the way out I decided to do a few donuts and had a ball, it was fun watching feathertop hang on for dear life too, TNLN, Signed Log, Thanx High Rollers....
Found at 1.55pm.
A lovely area to visit, The holy sign is now missing, but we assumed the clue and it worked out OK.
As we worked our way to GZ we had lunch in nearby picnic area,
and then drove to within 350m of GZ
NRE have done an excellent job of closing the access track to any form of vehicle - It looked like a scene from a WW1 movie in the trenches.
An obstacle course was followed to within 50m of the cache.
Cache was visible from the right angle, which was just as well as reception was poor, and we had visited a few fern trees before discovering the right one.
We took the geocoin and left Shrek TB - he should feel right at home here.
A pleasant wander in the forest
Thanks

First of ten today, with cachn cousin (first time out for him)
A bit tricky as the first sign is now missing, lucky for us we knew the track name we came in on and worked it out anyway. The track 480 mtr from GZ is now closed and you have to walk the last 480 mtr threw over under and up and down and up and down the forestrys over excited track closure methods. (the gate was open duno whats going on there should be closed)
OUt- Travel bug (will drop off in NSW in a couple of weeks)
In- Sheriff badge, Las Vagas key ring, sticker and tattoo
thanx heaps great cache

Took the long way in from the North and being a bit of a H and H fan figured I could skip the first waypoint. I laughed then when I drove past it anyway. There is some serious work going on here at the start and I think the walk might be a lot longer in the future as the area looks like it is being prepared for harvesting. Reached Waypoint 2 ok and grabbed the required info and set off for GZ. Found GZ road ok and proceeded to climb up and over up and over for the next 300 metres into the cache. Looks like the parks people really didn't want anyone driving down that old road . Cache was located ok when I worked out my mistake and I dropped of a couple of travelers to continue on there way. TFTC
This was quite an anxious trip. I was navigating by GPSr and the quality of track didn't seem to be reflected on my screen. I accidently ended up on a 4WD track and after hitting a bump too hard scratched up the front end of the car. Still, I managed to get the car through. I cut some doughnuts at WPT 1 to get the clues and was on my way. The final walk should not be done in sandals as I did, and watch out for potholes.
I was quite relieved to be back on asphalt near Wallan, will have to get the car looked at tomorrow!
Thanks,
R - B

Another one for the kids to solve. Will let you know when we get the rest. DILEMADA
G'day High Rollers,
We completed your cache today at 1:50pm as the fourth of fifteen on our Hume Highway Zig Zag Adventure. We crossed the Hume for the second time today to reach this cache. Not really knowing where to go here, we followed our noses and made it to WP1 first pop. (All the signs were in place so I will have a word to Mr Prass next time I see him ). The clues let us straight to WP 2 and from there to 400m from WP3. The next track more resembled a steeple chase track than a road. One near GZ, the reception took a great tumble and we wandered aimlessly for about 10 minutes with the distance to the cache sometimes moving up to 40m without us shifting. Thank goodness for your good sense in providing an excellent hint as we would probably still be there otherwise. We really enjoyed our visit to this park. Thanks for our 3rd High Rollers cache.
Kind Regards,
D,H,H & A B-A

Found at 12.35pm GAFF2. I let TomTom guide me to the cache but ended up in a very dead end road - twice! So I took over the controls and found a nice flat gravel track after negotiating quite rugged terrain in c-pprass's Pulsar. Got to the first WPT and had no idea what to do. Couldn't find any obvious "holy signs", so I skipped this WPT and went onto the next WPT. Found the relevant sign and I was off. Got to within a few hundred metres of GZ and at one point could see a fantastic view down south - however just as well that Hume & Hovell didn't get to this point as they would have been dissapointed by the smoggy scene!. Walked down a reclaimed track and found the cache pushed way into its hidey hole. Thanks High Rollers for showing us this spot. tn/ln.
9.15am
Found by Roma and Max.
Having spent a pleasant evening parked on the way in to wpt 1 the fun started. We were unable to completely sort the conundrum at this point but gained sufficient info to guesstimate where our next stop would be. From there we decided to use our motorbike to proceed to GZ, although, as it turned out, the Mazda would have made it comfortably to within 300m of GZ. What a mess those 4wds have made of this last section. We only traversed 200m of this on the bike (registered and no off roading), and decided to walk the rest of the way. This is where the fun really started. We found the container but how on earth were we going to reach it! We believe that animals must be the culprits that are moving it further into its niche. Perhaps on the next maintenance visit something can be jammed in this hidey hole to prevent the container being forced further in. A considerable time later we were successfull and able to make our mark and swap a Mondo Figurine for a Pink (obviously) Brolga.
Thanks High Rollers for this challenging, in more ways than one, experience.

Had trouble with the first waypoint but guessed our way through to next and gz.
My gps does not like trees and was all over the place. Lucky for me 4 Men and A Lady’s was working and the cache was soon in hand.
Have to come back to this area in winter with trail bikes.
Had to use a stick to retrieve cache as it was a long way in (animals maybe pushed it in)
Took – lizard
Left – wine glass bubbles
Thanks High Rollers

Found at 1415 on 5 February 2006by 4 Men and a Lady in Convoy with Wine Timers our fifth for the day not bad given our propensity to break up the day with plenty of "Wine Times" (Yum Yum)
Worked out the instructions and walked to GZ and cache in hand after a little bit of manipulating (and the aid of a long stick) at the hiding spot.
We then proceeded back to the serenity of the picnic area to get a dose of two stroke, red wine and 120 decibel dirt bike for afters.
Took: Good Luck Charm
Left: Cork Screw
many Thanks High Rollers

Got as far as the second waypoint, but the GZ location we were being directed to was down a track inaccessible by our vehicle. I suspect we got the maths wrong but couldn't go back and check as we ran out of time to get home for dinner! Will try again soon as we have land nearby. A lovely area.
Found by Mary & David at 1550. As usual, we really enjoyed the historical flavour of this cache. Poor Hovell never seems to get as much recognition as his team mate. Lots of wildflowers and the usual wattle in bloom. A great pity, though, that some irresponsible 4WD owners and trail bike riders have ignored the road closure signs and made a real mess of the track near GZ. A short search located the cache as a few drops of rain fell. Took Australian key ring, left mini tape measure key ring. Plenty of parrots, and even a lyrebird crossed the track about 20m away on the return walk. Our thanks to High Rollers.
Please note: On last cache inspection, we found it had been placed too far inside the cavity to be easily retrieved. Please place the cache back to the exact same spot you found it. Regards High Rollers
Restoration of the below mentioned sign is now complete. Hume & Hovell Hunt is now enabled.
Introduced to geocaching by (KEYMASTER) of High Rollers. This was my first cache and what can I say the second information point, an information board was missing. Keymaster seems to think that the board was taken for restoration for it had numerous bullet holes in it. luckily, Keymaster had the co-ordinates to the cache position in his GPS so he passed it to me and said, There you go!... It took me about 20 minutes to drive to GZ and find the cache. Unfortunately the missing sign took the fun out of this find.

We thought this would be a good cache to do after discovering the demise of Melbourne's 1st.
We were wandering around five ways aimlessly, obviously very suspiciously, trying to figure out what makes a sign "holly", when a big 4WD rocks up carrying none other than Spiders, asking us if we were looking for Hume & Hovell Hunt.
He explained to us that "holly sign" is actually supposed to mean "holy sign". Ooooh. That could have helped. Luckily we had only been standing in the middle of the busy intersection for a few minutes.
Unfortunately he also reported to us that the second waypoint is no more, having been there himself and discovering nothing but the bolts that had previously held the sign in place.
Looks like this cache was rather short-lived, perhaps High Rollers will be able to shed more light on the problem / resurrect the cache, and clarify whether "holly sign" is supposed to be "holy sign".
Two failed caches for the day .. it's not turning out good for us today.

Found at 3:55pm. Headed off from home with the hope of an FTF. The 2WD geomazda was looking a bit worried about the large puddles, so we parked and walked in the 4WD track - taking a short detour to look at the view near the last turn off to GZ. On returning from the view to the turn off, the FTF looked gone as we passed an AWD vehicle with geocaching stickers! Heading to GZ we caught up with said geocacher, who turned out to be Muzza, also on the hunt for a FTF. Jointly approached GZ, and Mrs A happened to be on the right side of the hiding spot to make the find first. Phew - our 7th FTF, by a matter of seconds! Feel a bit guilty for for stopping Muzza from his 98th FTF, but he was still gracious enough to offer us a lift back to the geomazda.

I decided to go for a bit of a drive to this area to pick up three caches, with this one hopefully a FTF. I didn't know what a holly sign was, but found the three signs, not knowing which was supposed to be #1. However, my first guess worked out right, so I was happy about that.
At location 2 there were a number of people camping, with very young kids on micro motorbikes buzzing past over and over again while I was reading the sign. From here, a short drive took me to a very boggy track that I dared not drive down. The GPS said about 300 metres to go so I carefully headed down the track, being careful not to slip in the muddy conditions.
At one stage I saw that I was being followed by a couple of (hopefully) bushwalkers. I reset my GPS and then found that I had gone too far. Upon my return I met my stalkers, Alsume, and we had a chat while we headed into the bush for the cache, where Susan came up with the goods. I took a lizard and left a souvenir keyring.
After logging our find, we headed back to my car. On the way, I came across a matched pair of Travel Bug tags that must belong to the cache owners. (If High Rollers can email me, we can sort out how to return them). My thanks to them for the cache, and showing me a lovely part of the state.
