Logs
Our third and final day of the Mega caching with geofriends from Aus before we go our separate ways. Group consisted of Bluewattle, chamad, Wollaston, Willis007, kolour, Ardom, Gcoven, BenM70, and Snickersallan. Logs were signed as QLD+1.A big thank you to all the cache owners who placed this great amount of caches for our enjoyment and the benefit of the geocaching community.Apologies for the generic logs, as I rarely log them whilst travelling around the countryside and tend to do them once back at home.
Pprime, Fangsoki and I were near the end of our day when we stopped to find this cache. We found the well hidden path into the dark forest and followed the trail to the bridge. Pprime had the cache in hand before I arrived.TFTC Tiffany_and_Co
The Troll (Otago)Dunedin MEGA Monday and day 3 of some great caching with QLD caching buddies! More great caches to be found while exploring the beautiful Dunedin. Signing our logs QLD + 1 to save room, we were pleased to see most of the caches had been recently maintained and enjoyed a great variety of hides and types.A massive thank you to all of the COs for the preparation, placement and maintenance of these caches. Out and about with Willis007 and other members of the group QLD+1 finding solved puzzles and multis plus other targeted caches. Quick find, logbook signed and replaced as found. Nice to see the flowering rhododendrons and a tui. Tftc
In Dunedin for the mega event for the weekend. A nice walk to the gz in a light rain. Found with Mrs hazzer, downsouthinv, annielin and l mrs&mrfraggle. Tftc
Out and about enjoying the gems of our country ??Here enjoying our first ever Mega, in Dunedin. Meeting lots of people, some are familiar. Getting out and discovering new places and putting more smilies ???? on my map.Today we went out in clearer weather to track this one down. Not too slippery underfoot and no troll was disturbed Nice easy PnG and in good condition. TFTC
Second day in Dunedin and the rain overnight continues. After attending the morning event and some essential shopping we braved the weather for some solved puzzles for the Albatross and a few other targeted caches. After an afternoon break, we enjoyed a welcome warm drink and snack at a cafe and decided to pick up a couple of extra caches at the Botanical Gardens. We were definitely wet and drippy so happy to find this one. Tftc
This is the second day of my whirlwind visit to New Zealand - my first time in NZ.Today, I teamed up with barb2e, SmittenGranny, Joolay and Kittykatch. After nearly a day of caching we split up and SmittenGranny, barb2e and I headed for a cafe nearby. As we warmed up, we noticed that we were close to the Botanic Gardens. We dismissed doing the AL as the wind was driving the rain in sheets across the roads, but decided to at least get the two quite old caches and this was the first one. From the first cache - and event - onwards it was rather damp. But this did not dampen our spirits and we made good progress in visiting and signing caches to the north of the bay. It would have been nice to see from all the vistas we went to.It took a while to find the cache - D'oh. But after re-reading the hint it was just there. It was very wet and muddy here, but the call of a NZ Bellbird made up for this. TFTC
Despite the rain, Isopeda, barb2e, Kittykatch, Joolay and I travelled together today and we signed caches that we found either individually or as CCD, Canberra Cachers Dunedin. Our aim was to find as many Unknown caches as possible. We had spent many zoom sessions working together to solve these before we even travelled across the ditch. We found nearly all of them and after signing duties were completed, the caches were replaced as found. Huge thanks to all who contributed to making our visit such a success.
nothing like having to kneel down in muddy ground to find a cache, oh well anything for a smiley
The full Tribe was there today. It was Mrs Tribes first time to be actively looking. What a wonderful location. The log is a little damp and the provided pen has been leaking a little
Went looking for the troll today. Easy to find GZ but no cache to be found. Got right down and a bit muddy to try find it but no luck. Lovely spot with very active bird life with Tui swooping overhead!
Everyone is saying its easy and we looked at the spoilers but still couldnt find it will try again next week with some new eyes
Lots of options to choose from, very quick find after I oriented myself correctly. TFTC!
Damp log, easy find near to my work. Never been to this park before though. TFTC.
Found it with eva4425, it was getting dark so it was a bit teicky to find but we got it after a bit of searching TYFTC
Haha what a fun find, the name is perfect. TYFTC I'm are you talking about the large gunnera plants? Always fun to find new walking trails!
Proved to be harder than anticipated. The hint helps, but there are other bridges on the track. However, exploring the track was lovely. A place that we have never been. I may come back with time to enjoy the reserve. Thanks for the cache!
A nice area to explore, the cache was well hidden. Need to remember to bring a pen
Wandering around I stumbled upon the gate into this area. What a great find! Cache easily found. I little damp but dry enough to sign. Will definitely be back to enjoy the flowers
Took my keas to find this again as many hadn't heard of geocaching. Unfortunately we could not find it this time
1MinnieMoo and I made our way to this one next.We were met by some very excitable dogs and SPCA workers at the gate. We made our way down to GZ and soon found the prize safe and sound. A lovely little area. TFTC Tiffany_and_Co
13/9/2023 Find #6497
Day 5 of the Fangsoki/1MinnieMoo NZ adventures. We have a few days in Dunedin and today the priority goal was 4 particular old caches, and a few other old caches sprinkled through between.
We parked the car and wandered in down to be greeted at the fence by 2 people from SPCA with apparently “timid puppies” - the lady asked if we had a dog with us and explained about these two. We stood back so as not to worry them as they came through the fence. Well one might have been timid, but the other was full of excitement to say hello!!
Once we’d said hi and bye we headed down to GZ where we made a quick find.
Thanks for the cache Tiffany_and_Co.

Did this one a few weeks ago with the opoho keas. Went back today to put in a travel bug
Removed the nasty plastic bag and it’s contents (new bag installed). Why would someone do that? So gross!
Good find clue made easy but someone has put poo in the bag so be careful couldn't clean it up sorry
Thank you Tiffany. Great hiding place. Some idiot has unfortunately put poo in the bag. Sorry, couldn't clean it up, as didn't have anything to clean it up with. But great overall. Navigater was a little bit off but the hints made it easy. Thank you and good luck to others.
This is my fourth geocaching excursion to **beautiful New Zealand**!
Due to Covid [xx(] I had to wait for 3 long years to again return to my beloved Middle-Earth [xx(].
This time its a road trip enduring for 26 days, covering both North- and South-Island.
Today called for an excursion to downtown Dunedin, as well as Purakanui and Spit Beach .
This geo-treasure contributed to the finds of today. Cool! [^]
What a lovely place, these Rhododendron gardens [^]...
A big thanks to the owners Tiffany_and_Co [:X] for hiding and maintaining this cache [^] - and best regards from Germany !

Beautiful walk!! Easy find. Surroundings are damp but cache is nice and dry. Tftc!
It's been a while since I was in this location - it is a hidden gem and this is a beautiful time of year to see the rhododendrons in flower. I had to take a slight detour to get to the hide location, as the street I initially drove up came to a dead end, but soon ended up very close the GZ. Parked up, walked through the gate, down the path and was soon in the right location. I spotted the cache as I approached, and soon had the log book in hand. Everything was nice and dry inside. Returned the cache as found. TFTC.
A roadie today with Tania, keeping her company on her mission, my job navigating..and nabbing a few caches myself A quick find here tftc
Cache 1022 had decided that while I was on holiday a trip to Dunedin was in order to fill in some missing spots on my “hidden dates” grid, I asked Wombats_4 if she was up for a roadie and she was more than happy to come with this was another to knock off the list so after a sideways stop we ended up at the Rhododendron garden and had a short wander and found some “bridges” from here the cache was quickly spotted and signed then it was on to the next T4TC
Easy find in lovely spot with lots of bird life. The big-leaved plant is an introduced species of Gunnera. It’s invasive and should be removed before it spreads.
GeohoundandI let me get down on my hands and knees to find this one whilst she had a conversation with a piwakawaka.
saw a very cute fantail while flossieteacake was signing the log for this cache. TFTC
