Time for a cache audit.

Several (MMM) caches have ended up in a degree of disarray, many of which are proving difficult to come up with suitable replacements, and some of which are just prone to muggling or other forms of demise.

So, time for this one to end up archived.

Thanks to all who've logged it, and sorry to all those who missed the chance.

Dak called Saturday morning after giving the area a thorough going over. Cache is gone, and new one will hopefully follow soon.

16-Sep-06
Just formalising the DNF.

I visited this cache today with Queensland cachers HawMorFords. We couldn't find it. I'm always loathe to say a cache is missing, but I'm sure this one has walked.

16-Sep-06
Our first DNF of the day. We enjoyed the first waypoint but after scratching around for a while we concluded this one has gone MIA.

Sunny and 18 but still only a 2 rating. That artwork is so lifelike. Easily found. Thanks Partic.

Not Found @ 08:50

Found the parking spot and had a good idea where the cache was, but on this glorious morning there were too many muggles to consider having a go. I cut my losses and moved on, maybe another day.

Cheers, Murf.

Despite the open spot once your at GZ the cache hide is a great spot as no one will ever walk here, let alone stop.Found at $.00pm ,tnln and then walked over to check out the realistic clothes art work .Thanks to Partic.

We were hot on the heels of Farmers 5...logged this cache at 5pm about an hour later. Drivers probably wondering why I decided to cross the road at this point instead of the pedestrian lights about 50m away. Took the cache down to the beach to examine and go for a walk on the sand to try to dislodge the poo on my shoe that I'd picked up on the previous cache Sad. TNLNSL
Thanks for the cache Smile

05-Jun-06
Interesting art work, and a rather exposed location but breaks in the traffic were regular and the cache was soon in hand. And just as soon back again. T Plane, L Walrus. Thanks Partic.

Sweet... this cache was just outside the function I just went to: Luncheon in the Danish Club, 177 Beaconsfield Pde, where the "Danish Baker from Frankston" comes every 1st Sunday of the month, with a selection of his varieties of Danish pastries, herings, candy etc. This was just what I needed, after having been without salty liquorice and "real" rye bread for 2,5 months Big Grin

The coordinates put me to the close-by light pole in the middle-strip, but I couldn't see any arts from there...?
In: VicUni pen

Found the location of the cache then saw the art work. It was a pretty quiet day today so not too difficult.
TNLNSL
Thanks

24-Mar-06
It was just after sunset as we approach. Couldn't find the artwork - just found the bush intstead. Then we realised that what looked like someone's clothes on the stone wall was the artwork.

08-Mar-06
Interesting sculpture, found this one relatively easily after having dinner at St K. Nice drive back to the accomm. TFTC

05-Mar-06
Found at 10:30am. Lots of muggles jogging, skating, walking nearby but the traffic hazard was removed as the road was blocked off for a triathlon. Tempting to stay for a swim, but had to head off to finish the shopping. An interesting cache & good location on a warm day.
TN Left 50 eurocents
thanks partic

Found fairly easily, and I agree with the notes on potential muggle issues. I stopped nearby for lunch and "borrowed" a power point to recharge the laptop.

I was just rereading my logs for yesterday and, after seeing the photo on the cache page, I now realize what the artwork was Smile. I did see the boots, pants, etc on the wall, but simply thought it was where someone had left their clothes! I must check it out next time I'm in the area Smile. Too bad my pda doesn't have pictures.

Found by Bob at 16:15

Hmmm, I couldn't locate the plaque either - I've had difficulties with others in the series, but I wonder if this one could have gone. Anyway, having failed to locate it, I scanned about for likely bushes on the median strip and, upon checking the only likely candidates, found the cache immediately Smile. I don't think there is too much of a muggle problem - as someone else noted, they're all moving pretty fast when they go past the cache.

Thanks Partic

An incredible cache in an amazing location.

Found at 1.30PM on A trip to South Melbourne no:1.
2nd out of 9 found.

I was not expecting this cache to be where it was. I couldn't find the plauqe, but as soon as I saw the cache I knew it was it, as it is in plain sight. I have logged the cache and put it back the way i found it.

There is not much around here to cover the cache up. I just hope that it will not dissapear. A cache maintainance trip is reccommended.

Thanks for the cache from M.B

A very obvious find. Yes retrieving it is tricky, but anyone who saw me was doing 60km an hour! TNLNSL. Thanks

11-Dec-05
Found this one quite easily, but looking nonchalant while retrieving it was rather difficult! Took Fred and Mary TB (heading to Hobart today) and left Rangers Can Do TB.

31-Oct-05
Dropped off Fred & Mary from the Spirit of Travel Bugs lounge where they've been waiting for a trip to Tasmania.
In the mean while, they can cruise around Melbourne a little longer.

Thought that Tommy's Story was more than a suitable location to leave Fred & Mary. The cache is opposite the White House - home of the Melbourne Danish Club.

Since the birth of the heir to the Danish Throne two weeks ago, the club has been partying, and displaying their enthusiasm to all who pass by (see photos).

08-Oct-05
Nice and easy at close to midnight. Loved the "sculpture" that must have taken a lot of skill to make.
TNLNSL
Thanks again.

01-Oct-05
Couldn’t find the artwork. Must be blind. Found the cache though. TNLN. Thanks Partic.

6.15pm
Found by Roma and Max.
We past by this earlier in the day and decided we would come back at dusk. Traffic was still brisk but at least we felt more secure in this light.
Thanks Partic, we look forward to completing this series soon.
Romax.

28-Aug-05
Similar to Harper's Chimney - the muggle activity made this one quite simple with our trio working today (J&T and GeoJo).
Thanks partic. TNLN.

28-Aug-05
Loved the artwork associated with this location - I didn't realise it wasn't real at first! Able to park close by to make an easy retrieval.

13-Aug-05
Found on 13/08/05 @ 1625 AEST. I had passed this cache quite a few times since its inception, but the muggle count was always too high to make an attempt [:o]. Not so on this cool, late-Winter's afternoon Smile.

Cheers Partic

Just a note to say that I picked up Wills Train today and he's on his way to his next country!

08-Aug-05
Red Face The cache was one of the pieces of garbage.

Recon today found the cache out in the open slightly, so I've put it back under the log, and some foilage so that it's not mistaken next time.

06-Aug-05
Found the art. But the busshes look like they have been bush-whacked! I went and stood in the median pretending to take pictures of the water.... but only found garbage. It could certainly be there though, I couldn't put in a real effort with so much ped and car traffic on such a nice day.

25-Jul-05
What a great piece of art work - I wonder how many people have tried to pick it up? Took: Die and Elephant TB, Left: Bracelet and Will's Train TB. Thanks Partic.

With other caches disappearing along here from road garden maintenance, I thought I'd check this one out today.

Left Habbix TB
Took Story Book TB

Found at 9.35am - after several unsuccessful attempts during evening peak hour.
Took Fireman
Left Storybook TB
I never realised this was a sculpture! it looks very real from a distance.

13-Jun-05
Found by Maya and Ray at 12:10PM on 13th of June. This is rather difficult to access in daylight with the restaurant opposite. Can't tell if patrons are watching. Hope we succeeded in being inconspicuous. We took a letter rule and left a ball. Thanks from The Nomads.

11-Jun-05
Lovely sunny day but no trouble loggin! Maybe the showers earlier in the day put the muggles off?

11-Jun-05
Found at 8:18AM, the 10th cache on our all day caching adventure.

One team member though the artwork had been left behind by a homeless man.

Made use of a reflective vest to inspect the area surrounding the cache for safety as well as disguise.

Took 2 Mondo men, left handful of firemen.

3rd cache in Melbourne. Did this very quickly. Nice beach. Wish I had my swimming trunks.

17-Apr-05
Found 15:50, TNLN, thanks Partic.

16-Apr-05
It was a 3 star day today (24 deg). Took a whle to find the artwork. Was in a rush so quickly got the kids to grab the cache and swapped a ball for a Koala.

Thanks again Partic.

Found @ approx. 15:00

Walked right past the "sculpture" before I noticed his footwear and thought "what the?".

Having an eight year old with me at the time certainly helped me with the retreival (and logging) of this one.

Took purple pen
Left "return-a-bowl"

Thanks Partic for more interesting history.

Found at 8:55am. Thirteenth cache of 56 on our quest to claim the Most Cache Finds in Australia in One Day.

Ok. I admit it. The sclupture looked so real, I had to touch it to make sure. I made the lone trip to GZ while the others waited by the side of the road. I searched, waited for traffic, searched, waited for traffic... After 10 minutes I still couln't find so I returned to the others and got "S" to have a go. His parting comment was "Well, if you can't find it, I don't know how I'm going to". He crossed, bent over, and picked it straight up and brought it over. This was followed up with the inevitable "Didn't you look at XXXXXX ?". Well obviously not. Always a moment of mixed emotion. You have the cache but...

Thanks Partic from D,S & H B-A. No swaps made.

Time Elapsed since First Cache - 2 Hours 15 Minutes.

02-Mar-05
The sculpture was interesting, I wonder if they cast from actual articles? That's a very long swim to work, I suspect that it might not have been from there.
Took: small pig, Left: small jet and dice.
Thanks, Robmc.

28-Feb-05
An amazing piece of artwork, definitely not our preferred way of getting to work.
A lot of people around tonight so rather than trying to remove the cache container from it’s hidey=hole we just removed the logbook to do the necessary paperwork then on to the next one in the series

Found by sbalogh53 at 18:00 on 27/2/2005.
This was an easy find although we had to wait for a while several times for the traffic to die down. Retrieving the cache was not a problem due to no muggles, but there were a number of them near the building (kiosk?) and on the footpath opposite the cache when attempting to replace the cache. I had my camera so used the opportunity to take some telephoto shots of the work of art from the median strip while replacing the cache. Cameras are a great decoy in many locations! Big Grin
Took: Keyring
Put: Mondo England 1050

26-Feb-05
found this one while we had a youth group activity, roller blading the forshore path. I was quite surprised at the size of the cache was expecting a smaller container for the location.
TNLN
thanks.

26-Feb-05
Found this one today, love the artwork it looks so real, was trying to find it not realising it was the artwork.

Thanks again Partic

20-Feb-05
Mr.Coffee and the Clan found this cache around 5.20pm.
Very interesting location, at times I thought I was Marshalling at the Grand Prix with all the traffic.
waited for breaks in traffic and had the cache back to the car in a few minuted.
decided to take water ball and left key ring, sachet miosturiser and sticker.
Thanks Partic from Mr.Coffee and the medium strip clan.

18-Feb-05
Found by Mary & David at 1120. Outstanding artwork - that is one that is really appropriate and contributes to the story. Saw it from afar but didn't recognose it for what it was until we dew closer. Took sheep, left mondo doll. Our thanks to Partic.

18-Feb-05
I actually found or at least knew where this was a few days ago but was outmuggled on my previous visit. This time I went out with Goejen initialy to do Feet of Bronze but couldnt get a park anywhere near, so headed out to South melb and Port Melb to clean up that area. Took a row of Ducks and left a fat pen.

The first part of this cache is really quite interesting. I wonder how many people try to walk off with this sculpture.
The marker also told an interesting story. Consider doing that in winter. I think they are a lot tougher that I would be.
Finding the cache was an interesting excersize.
Very exposed indeed, but found it in between teh rushing trucks. Nearly blew the cache away the wind was that strong.
Took stencil , left splash ball.
Thanks Partic. I think the people of yesteryear are a lot hardier than the folks of today (me included).

11-Feb-05
Second of three MMM caches today. This one was harder than I thought it would be. Not because of muggle activity, which was blissfully light, owing to the atypical February weather. It was because I failed to see the cache on the first and second pass. I was starting to think that it might have gone missing already when I spied it at 1155.

I was expecting a micro, because I hadn't read the cache description properly before arriving at GZ, so I didn't have my stamp or cache swaps with me. Consequently, I made no exchange. TFTH.

10-Feb-05
This was the second of two Partic caches that popped up on the net when I arrived home tonight. Like the first I initially failed to find the artwork, but was able to find the cache at just after 11:55pm.

I took the cache back to the footpath to log my find - that's when I discovered the artwork. I liked it, but understood why I missed it first time. Thanks for the cache.
