The Soggy cache has been removed for good.

12-Dec-07
I stopped by to pick up the answers of the clue questions yesterday, but unfortunately I hadn't allowed enough time to complete the cache hunt. We were keen to find this cache and retrieve the TB (seeing as this cache has now been placed offline), so tonight we walked our way into the dusk light in our quest - followed by countless mosquitos! The cache was found after a brief search, but unfortunately the container had filled to the brim with water! I'd say it would have suffered the wraith of the flash flood caused by the storms on the 3rd December and drowned. Anyway, we tipped the water out, took the Globetrotter Travel Bug & made a dent in the logbook pulp. Because there was no sunlight to help dry the cache contents, we had no choice but to replace the cache knowing that it was only going to continue deteriorating... TFTC, regards 38degsouth.

02-Dec-07
Unfortunately due to many circumstances I will be disabling all my caches. My work and other committments have not given me the time to check on or maintain my caches neither has it allowed me to complete any caches.

It does not mean I have quit caching all together. I will still do a few from time to time..

Sorry if this inconvieniances anyone. If anybody would like to take over the cache please email me at [email protected]

Yours
Matt B

checked cache all ok

13-Oct-07
Same here, rode past today and although the area has been cleaned up a lot, the cache is right where it belongs and still well hidden. Thanks.

06-Oct-07
Was in the area doing another cache, and had to walk past this one during it, so Testing it out. Its all good and the cache was found with no problems.

Thanks

20-Sep-07
Did not have time to try the cache, But when visting the park for another cache we discovered all the fencing and path works seems completed. This cache should be able to be done again.

20-Sep-07
Ok thanks I will have to check this one out very soon for a re enable

22-Jul-07
The park closed in early late May for path works which were meant to be finished mid June.. then early July... now early August. Grr. Sad

It's a big link in a major bike path (Dandenong Creek) so it's a PITA, not just for the cache.

21-Jul-07
Could not do this one, and I don't think it is possible for a while. The Signs at waypoint one are currently fenced off, and you can not get near them. The construction on the path that has fenced it off looks like it may take a while.

Came past this one yesterday. East Link Roadworks are building a new bike path along hgere. TIll its finished cache has been disabled. I will check the cache once park is re opened.

This was our second visit to this cache. We looked last week and gathered the clues but the maths left us cold. So we took it home and used MS Excel to work it out. Having located a general GZ area we found a shorter way and logged it today at 1300 hrs.

Left sheep to graze.
Took Cairns Yacht Pin.

TFTC xfking.

03-Jan-07
Homeward bound now, this was another one that I had planned to do yesterday but other events took precedence. At GZ, I did the calcs I needed and decided that another mode of attack might be better. In the end, it probably wasn't but I soon had the cache in hand at 16:30.

TNLNSL, noted clue. Thanks xf king.

29-Oct-06
Found 1600hrs Sunday 29th October.

Nice walk on a pleasant day. Four days 'til due date
and GeoMum(to be) and GeoKid(to be) found it.
Had to avoid the muggle Ranger, and some others, but not
a difficult as it could have been.

Took : Pineapple
Left : Cairns Pin

09-Aug-06
Nice walk and the lower track was ok if a little damp. Cache was a NEF - Took butterfly , left Pineapple clip. Interesting about Oppy too. Thanks xf king.

18-Jul-06
Found @ 5:50pm.

It was a race to see if I could grab this cache, the last of the preliminaries for me, before dark. Went the long (and muddy) way to GZ and managed to find the cache just as night fell. Had to use the screen of my GPSr to light the logbook for me. Now its off to find the final cache. TNLN.

16-Jul-06
Found @ 16:50
3rd one of the series today and last one for today. My son had a good time out on his first go at geocaching. A tough one to get with bike muggles. They appear so quick. Job done though.

15-Jul-06
Found on the third attempt. Again the math went awry! Tried it at night but too much "other" activity around the car park to make a night search safe on my own in the dark. However in the daylight it was a nice walk on a wet Saturday afternoon. Took the lower path but the main trail is a better one to follow. Thanks ... 11 to go! Smile

10-Jul-06
Did the clues b ut took a bit of calculating with the hurricane blowing. Finally treked off and did the bird-hide ,and nice track until GZ After a couple of minutes hit the stash and goodie jar.TNLN ,logged at 4.00pm and thanks to xf king.

Nice walk along track, many muggles out riding and walking.
Took: Nothing
Left: California keyring

15-Jun-06
Had an hour to kill after a pickup from the Airport. Decided to drop in for a stroll. The grass was very wet. Walked to GZ via back track...found the good track at GZ and returned by it. Nice spot. Found @ 8:07am. Plenty of muggles riding through...really had to be on guard. It was very early for me and for the life of me I cant recall what I swapped. I know I did some swap and I also left a Next! Stamp.SL. TFTC

24-May-06
Found at 16:15. Nice walk use to ride along this path and go to the bird hide so look at the birds, Feathered ones that is. Took Dino and Travelin Tu_d TB. Left Ork Warrior.

16-May-06
It wouldn't be the same going caching out East and not doing a Sweet 16. It was a nice walk on a track that wondered all over the place. A few times we were tempted to go off track, but fortunately we didn't (looked very wet!).
The place looked good in the moonlught, I must come back here during the day (with the bike).
Thanks, Robmc.

16-May-06
Found on a very late night caching outing with a few fellow nutcachers. Nice walk in the moonlight.
TNLN apparently but thanks for another one.

16-May-06

TNLN signed log. Thanx XF King....Big Grin

16-May-06
Find 6 of 9 for me, on a night tour with locals Robmc, oenze & chewinprickles. Looks like we all enjoyed our walk in the moonlit park. Finally found a resting place for this odd TB I have been carrying around, swapped it for a US Geocoin (our first!! Big Grin), not really a fair swap but hey ... Wink. Thanks xf king. Cheers 'scargoes

05-May-06
Such a nice place, surrounded by suburbia. Nicely hidden.
Took Mr Moose G travel bug and
dropped off JMCz's 2005 USA Geo coin #2.
Quite a few Muggles. Beware!

Just the cache for a bike ride. A great track in both directions. I took a cow and left 'Mr Moose G' Travel Bug

06-Nov-05
Nice park apart from the electric fields. Still, I go walking here fairly often lately and didn't think to look for the cache until today.

Found it ok. Lots of muggle cyclists riding past due to the nice weather. Damn those weeds are sticky too.

TNLN. Thanks, Hamish.

22-Oct-05
took daughter on the second attempt at this cache.

we redid all the clues and quickly located the cache.

thanks for moving it from the swamp Smile

15-Oct-05
Another great bike path. Found by DBigg and clan (as usual the Mrs is the best finder). Took three items and left three items (three kids).

12-Oct-05

The cache has been replaced, it is now in a different location which is away from the other cache nearby.

Enjoy.

28-Sep-05
Checked on the cache this afternoon after work. The area was very wet and GZ was under 1 foot of water. I made my way across to find that the cache was about 5 cm in the water but inside it was still dry. The magnet was missing again so I will replace the magnet and come back another day to place the cache in a different spot. Further away from another cache nearby.

Sorry to anyone who has tried and found themselves in water.

Matty B

when i ended up ankle deep in muddy water, i figured i wasn't even close...

*sigh*

Found by Roma and Max.
Another day, another stroll in a park. We sure could get to like this.
We filled in the log as required and rehid it's container.
Thanks xf king, we are enjoying finding your caches.

How sad are Robyn and I with this cache, VERY. We searched where the cache was a few times. Took us 20 mins then we found it. Or should I say, I found it. Cache was found at 1535. Thanks for the cache.

09-Jul-05
We were going to park in the southern carpark, except the navigator (Ruth) lost concentration at the crucial moment and we missed the turn-off. After going round the houses (literally) we came in at the northern entry instead...1.2km from WP1. Time: about 16:45. Returned to car for torch. Got to within 300m of WP1 when Ruth realised that her hands were now in her pockets to ward off the cold, hence she was no longer clutching the print-out. Retraced our steps about 600m, found sheets of paper lying in puddles on the track. Time: about sunset. Finally reached WP1. Eventually located cache by torchlight around 18:00, benefiting somewhat from clearly trampled caching track. Walked back to car, hurried off to nearest KFC for restorative hot meal (using privilege card found at another cache).

03-Jul-05
Nice little stroll for this. Stopped off and watched the youngsters play some footy for a while. Once at the location nice easy find only four attempts.

25-Jun-05
Found 11:50, haven't we been here before Surprised

TNLN, thanks xf king.

04-Jun-05
Didn't take long to sort out the clues, then we found it fairly easily. Thanks xf king.

04-Jun-05
We had a bit of a hunt to find this one. Thanks xf king.

16-Apr-05
Mr.Coffee and the Coffee Clan found this cache after a nice walk in the park.
We found the cache easily after looking at four possible locations Wink.
While on our return trip I briefly explained geocahing the two nice officers of the law who were walking along the same track. [^]
TNLN.
Many thanks XF King for the cache, one more clue needed for the final GZ.
Regards Mr.Coffee and the “what is geocacing†Clan.

Found at 15:00 with Shimachic.

Enjoyed a nice BBQ in the park, then set off on the hunt to find the cache. An easy walk and an easy find.

03-Apr-05
Found by Bob and Dan at 14:05

We'd just done "In Vino Veritas" and, having got back to where we'd parked, set out on this one - only to find after getting the 1st wp that we had to repeat most of the track we'd just taken. Never mind, it was good exercise and the wind had blown all the mosquitos away Smile.

Thanks xfking

03-Apr-05
Found at 14:30 after my first visit to Nortons for the day.
An interesting area I had no idea existed. No real mugggles problems in this area however did bump into one guy walking the largest English Mastiff I have ever seen. The dog towered over the Geokids. They could have rode it like a horse.
Good fun. No real problems locating the cache.
Cool

02-Apr-05
after a short walk we had the cache in hand, we'll just have to be tested for radiation then we'll be right. this was a really good spot to hide a cache

02-Apr-05
FOUND 2005.

26-Mar-05
GPS RAN OUT OF POWER WILL RETURN ANOTHER DAY

25-Mar-05
Found this one today at 4.20, nice walk in a reasonable park.

Thanks XF King

23-Mar-05
Fourteenth of 20 finds for the day at 1630. Got the figures, did the maths, and set off. Wrong direction (I think). I did an about face and headed down a little track that took me to a rough vehicular track under the electricity stanchions. The GPSr took me directly to the cache. I grabbed the 'Sweet 16' clue, but took and left nothing else, as there was nothing to take or leave. Smile Thanks for the cache.

14-Mar-05
After my experience with the young snake earlier, I was a bit wary of any long grass.[8)] Still, I decided to take the short cut to this one, and was even more wary at GZ. Found it in quick time after I dodged a jogging muggle. Took the long scenic walk out and realised that I was passing another cache I had found a few months ago. As I was logging my find on my recorder, I realised that I had not collected the clue.Sad So, back I went. Thanks xf king.

Found by sbalogh53 at 12:50 on 10/3/2005.
Found after some long maths calculations and a long walk. But otherwise an easy find. TNLN

On the way back to the car I passed through "a maze of twisty little passages all alike". Lucky I had access to my track on the GPS. Wink

06-Mar-05
A nice easy find, after some mental gymnastics to complete that nasty formula in my head! Thanks XF King.

06-Mar-05
We waited to see if the results would be amended before attempting this cache.
Found first co ordinates, collected clues and had a pleasant stroll to GZ for a very easy find as Thanks Xf king for another in the series

05-Mar-05
Found at 7:00pm. Final of seven on a rainy afternoon. Strike 3 to Xfking. After Strike 1 at "Geodoggie Friendly" and Strike 2 at "Between 2 paths", we came here to fall to yet again the same calculatory fate. We had also printed this one off before the co-ords we repaired. Found WP1 and checked the final location. (Note: There are actually 2 years on this sign and although one does not make sense of the calc, it may pay to note this on the info) After the last couple of wanders, we decrypted the clue straight away but we were still suckered into trying to go the calculated co-ordinates (this time exactly 0.2 of a minute further east than the original calcs said). We went to the most obvious spot from there and took one each but this time it was my turn to find.

Thanks Xf From D,S & H B-A. An easy but yet again lucky find for this one. By logic, on the next one were heading 0.15 to the west Smile. Saw two large rainbows on the way back to the car. Much better than a snake.

Dang. I knew something would go astray this morning. I was 2 for 2 xf king caches and as I approached the first waypoint I had a premonition of disaster.
Well, let's not be melodranmatic about it, this wasn't a disaster, a minor frustration and a scary adventure.
Reading the 2nd information board, I came across the information I needed for the year clue, then reading on I found two more years. Oops. Which one do I use.
Plugging various dates into the caclulations (these are not easy when doing them manually, mtultiple times) I decided that the date that was related to the story (rather than one of the others) was the most suitable and headed for GZ.
I've been here before was my thought as I approached GZ, but I was coming in from a different direction. This time I was almost straight line to the cache.
Following the well worn geotrail, I approached the most likely looking spot and started to push back the grasses with my shoes.
Sssssssssssssssss!
I nearly made a mess in my pants.
A snake took off (probably a tiger, but I'm no expert). It looks like he was curled up here soaking warmth from one of the supporting structures that would conduct heat well.
After taking more than a few beaths I spotted the cache and finding a stick, knocked it to where I could get it.
Took nothing , left nothing.
Replacing the cache was a little bit of a heart stopper, but I got it back OK.

A warning to cachers. The ground around here is a boggy and with the warmth that comes down the pilons there may be other snakes in the grasses. Please excerise caution.

03-Mar-05
Have past this place many times when i was working in security, noted the police warning signs on entry.
got to point one got the details and then headed to the shelter near by to sit and work them out. as i sat there someone emerged from the toilets and then sat there watching me, when i left the shelter he got up after me and started to follow me, ducked down an obscure track and soon lost him. found the cache and loged, no snake today. on my return journey this person was just coming out of the obscure track so i kept going straight ahead, looked back and still following me, cut across country and got to the car. just did not feel right. So i think caution needs to be taken in this area. it could be nothing but just did not seem right, why he would come down the same obscure track did not add up.

02-Mar-05
At my last cache, Pprass had given me the updated calculations for this cache, so I was confident of success. I found the answers, did the new calculations, and headed off to GZ. Once there, the cache was quickly located in the second place I looked.

Thanks, xf_king, for the cache and an enjoyable walk around this park.

Aaaarrrgghhh!! I knew it was a bad idea to go caching on such a hot day! With our previous difficulties in two other xf king caches we weren't particularly confident in finding this one easily. Attempted to solve the equation, but the formula was ambiguous and our resulting GZ was a long way off. Again, we went for the clues and searched the nearest structures without success. Not wanting to bake any longer than necessary, we got a hint from pprass and walked over to the next set where the cache was retrieved at our first attempt - only 750m from our GZ! Continued walking along the track past the lake and birdhide - thanks for bringing us here xf king.

Fixed up Eastern Co ords..

Found by Mary & David at 1500. Without the benefit of the corrected coordinates, we had a similar experience to pprass. Made no sense of the sums, so decided to just check out the likely spots. Problem was, there were many such places in view to choose from. Tried the nearer ones with no luck. Not wanting to tramp around this large park for too long on a day with the temperature hovering in the high 30s, we called pprass and determined the general direction we should head for. Trudged off to the likely spots in that direction and, thankfully, found the cache quickly on arrival. We didn't take our own fix at GZ, but the corrected coordinates seem to agree with where we found the cache. Our thanks to xf king.

28-Feb-05
And finally we left the best for last for tonight. We are familiar with this park as some may know, so we thought this would be a good one to finish the night on. Picked up the clues easily and then - and then - and then we simply gave up trying to work out the formula. Maybe our brains were in shut down mode, but we could not make any sense of our answers. However we were not going to let that beat us. We read the cache page for hints, deciphered the additional hint and found the tiny little cache in the second place we looked. What a relief. Thanks xf king, even after all of problems we encountered we were very satisfied with the evenings entertainment. We would really like to know one day where we went wrong though.
