What a cool little spot! We've loved exploring and adventuring while visiting Adelaide for the school hols, and this park was no exception. All the gorgeous native orchids were out and became the highlight of today's walk.

This was a nice and easy multi and we loved the tunnel. I was just short enough to not need to duck! There were plenty of happy froggies around based on their noise but anytime we went close they got too quiet for us to find them haha!

Thanks for the fun cache Smile

Catching up on logging - A bunch of JMelb's family, including ourselves, have travelled over from Melbourne to Adelaide to visit family over here. Today we met up with one branch of the Adelaide Family at this gorgeous National Park and had lunch by the gorgeous little lake (and were swooped by a Magpie, a Kookaburra and a Noisy Miner!!) Despite this we really loved the lake! We set off on this walk and JMelb who is claustrophobic was very happy that she managed to make it through the tunnel, as she could see through to the other side. we collected the info and then returned from whence we came to make a nice easy find.

Finally allowed myself a full day caching but started it off with an unexpected sleep-in. Then started the caching a couple of hours later with an equally unexpected BFE FTF.
After that great start headed south with the bike for a ride around Belair National Park. The main aim were the two new AdLabs but managed to find eight physical caches as well and this was one of them. This one had me stumped for quite a while but finally found it when on way back down to the bike from where I'd been concentrating my search.
Thanks to Freddo for placing this cache for us all to find

This morning I returned to Belair for an early morning walk and to find a few more caches. It was already very warm and warming up quickly so I didn’t stay long.

I approached the start of this one along the track from the west and made a guess at what the required information might be from something I saw. It turned out to be correct and the cache was found without the need for the back-testing scramble through the tunnel.

Thanks Freddo for the cache.

With light rain falling and my energy levels waning i thought, "aaaah what the heck i may as well go for this one now while i'm here"
I descended from above next to the railway, but well away from it on the vehicle track {no trains were seen today, dang!}

Discovered something near GZ that i never knew existed till today [^].
Gathered the info needed from a sign and found myself at GZ signing the log at 11:38 on Thursday 29 October 2020.

Love the outer container, it's a bewdy! No way the log will get wet inside that, then i saw that there was another one inside, after all it is the ADL Hills so rain is of more abundance up here so the protection is warranted [^]
This area is definitely a place to live in harmony, it is awesome Cool

A watershed day in the Adelaide hills for me, three months after dislocating my shoulder here, two months after Covid-19 restrictions first started and one month after being diagnosed with bursitis under my foot.
So I thought I might as well make it a good one: 27 kilometers, 1,000m elevation and 17 stops at caches and waypoints.

This was nice and early in the piece and this cache is one of the oldest in the area. A silly move in hindsight as this cache is really not that suitable for 6’4” cachers….

A late decision geocaching one area to this one around Belair. I messaged gridge98 to see if he was free and interested, and it turned out he was, as he hadn't done the section of Belair that I had proposed. It was a cool area as we saw the waterfall section (completely dry free of water), and we walked down to the echo tunnel. A highlight was seeing a koala just above one of the paths, and he was snoozing away not too concerned at our presence.

A final walk down the hill, and one of the few geocaches I had left in this area. It was somewhat targeted as I needed a multi-cache cache type for today's calendar day. Gridge98 had only found this one a few days beforehand, but I managed to convince him to join me for a walk. The tunnel was pretty cool, and numbers collected to then find the cache accurately. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks Freddo and Thomas for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

17-Feb-20
This morning I decided to go for a walk around Belair collecting some caches since the weather was so nice and wasn’t too hot.

This was a nice and easy multi, the numbers were collected and off to GZ, I went. After a short search the cache was found.

Thanks for the cache

02-Sep-19
We were only out for a bit of a walk and not expecting to do any multi caches, but this turned out to be a nice quick and easy multi. Only a slight backtrack to grab the cache after working out the coordinates.

First day of annual leave (and not on call), so I decided to clean up a few old caches that have been non-yellow for far too long.

Wandered through the cool place on a hot day, and then wandered back. Cache found in the first place I looked, but there were a few other spots searched in between the first and last prod of the correct GZ.

This was the find number 5 of 6 for the afternoon for me, TFTC Freddo and Thomas!

As part of a small team consisting of Quasar3671 and Jacko83 we made plans to attack Adelaide for particular caches, this was a fun little multi for something different, after doing what we had to do we made our way to GZ with darkness as cover, it took a little while to find the cache but we got there in the end.
Thanks Freddo for the cache.

10-Jun-17
After an overnight journey to South Australia, I met up with The Tritonz and Jacko83 for a 3 day hiking and yakking caching adventure around Adelaide and its surrounds. During our brief time in this beautiful city, the weather was perfect, the caches we found ranged from easy park and grabs to extreme terrain scrambles, hikes and paddles. Most importantly we had an absolutely amazing time, saw some incredible sites and found some awesome caches.
Thanks Geocacher's of Adelaide!
A nice little multi that took us quite a while to locate at night.
Thanks for the cache.

10-Jun-17
Picked this cache up as part of a 19hour caching day in Adelaide with Quarsar3671 and Tritonz.

Picked this up on dark after failing to retrieve another cache - really cool location.

Thanks for the bonus cache on the travels!

AnyMules and I set out upon a little Mission. Start walking the Yurrebilla Trail and getting the caches along the way. Of course 'along the way' meant a few little detours away from the trail and back again. Cool

Today we are caching in Belair National Park with earthlight and met up with Rod81w later in the day, we had a great time in here and the weather was nice to us today, i could live in harmony if i lived in the park Smile TFTC

Today was out with 3LG who rescued me from looking after my mother in-law for the day.
After 3 weeks I definately needed the break.
We walked and explored many beautiful areas today.
Many had wild flowers in abundance.
Loved walking to this cache and a quick multi solved and found.
A fav point today.
I found 30 caches in total.

Spent the afternoon walking through Belair and decided to go a little out of y way to find this cache. It has been sittng on my to find list for a while now but for some reason I never got around to attempting it. A quick visit to the required sign and a good set of coords was in hand. The gz was a short walk away and upon ariving at the a small search turned up the cache. The log was signed and I was on my way.

Out walking in circles with Purrfect Di, Sebastbat and a muggle callex (Alex),
we even had our geopup Chloe!
Everyone was getting along,
like ebony and ivory in perfect harmony,
so after some scrambling around at GZ we finally found your cache.
A typical Freddo 1* terrain, the wheelchair only got a little bit bogged before it tipped.... Razz

Love this area of Belair National Park and fondly remember going through this tunnel in a high school excursion 30 years ago. Container was impressively watertight. Signed log. Found this cache during a wonderful loop-walk for 14 km around the Adventure Trail - saw waterfalls, kangaroos, emus, koalas, wildflowers and dropped into the Adventure Playground for a hot chocolate too - a great days outing in BNP!

29-May-16
Found by Team Ninja 29/05/16, find number 817.
This was the fourth find during a day of geocaching and rail photography in the Adelaide Hills.
After getting some shots and finding a few geocaches near Lynton I relocated to the Belair National Park to snap a photo of an Eastbound Intermodal Service at one of the tunnels in the park. Big horsepower, long trains, tunnels and the bush, it doesn't get much better then this! Well, it does if you throw a few geocaches in too!
After getting photos of the train I extended the walk to Lower Waterfall and returned to the car via the Echo Tunnel. I swear they made this thing for hobbits. Being blessed not only with good looks but with height made this one a little more challenging but I was glad to attempt it from the right side of the tunnel so I only had to make one pass through.
I love the magnificent gum tree near GZ. Many hiding places near the coordinates but after the GPS honed in I had the cache in hand. Getting it open was the biggest struggle, as it was shut very tight! I eventually got the sucker open and signed the log. TFTC, really enjoyed this one! Very Happy

Great, friendly multi. Cache in good shape. Thanks!

This was a triple pass for us as we made our way up the the track to the lower waterfall and beyond this morning Razz
Got to love a Freddo and Thomas multi like this Big Grin. TNLNSL.
Thanks guys.

Free entry to Belair National Park so we made the most by having a great family day hiking up to the 2 waterfalls. The track was long but the views were fantastic. This was a lovely multi which we were able to do as part of our walk

Cache container replaced with a new double cache container. The new logbook from today's visit will last for a while.

10-Aug-14
Found It!
We approached this one from "A view for V" so we ended up quite a bit higher up than we needed to be! After making our way down the embankment we found the first part and worked out where GZ was. Got to GZ and found a very wet logbook and a cache with no lid. We replaced the logbook with a new one and placed the cache back upside down. Then just as we got back to the car-park I get a text from Freddo "Replaced Harmony container" which for some reason I read as "Replace Harmony container" and replied with "Already been there - didn't have a container with us". Then I thought "How does he know we're in Belair NP today?". Once I got home I realised my error and that Freddo had been to GZ only 30mins after we were there!

found it but lid lost or broken. Filled with water (including log book - could not write in it)
nice cache swap for the little one

03-Aug-14
I suppose we should take a container and fix it on our next walk

15-May-14
Cute little multi, had never been here before and ended up going through tunnel several times, which was good fun Smile tftc. Cache lid disintegrated and needs attention

15-May-14
Cache lid broken and brittle, cache needs urgent attention!

27-Apr-14
Found it. A fun little cache.
Container lid very broken still. Needs a new container. Log book is full and needs to be replaced also.
Thanks

21-May-13
I wish I had read the previous logs - I had a replacement container in my car 2 km away! Yes I was too lazy to go back and get it Big Grin

Did the maths, walked like I was 100 years old and found the cache. Nice cache with an interesting walk to GZ. TFTC Freddo.

02-May-13
An easy find but cache badly in need of maintenance. Cache lid is non-existent.

28-Jan-13
Cache is badly in need of maintenance. The lid is completely broken (as in virtually non-existant) and logbook is wet and going mouldy. I tried to leave it under shelter, but container needs replacing (or at least have a new lid).
Cheers

06-Jan-13
#1420 - Found this after walking through the tunnel, GPS was a little off, TFTC

05-Jan-13
Just to say that the cracked lid has now perished even more so does not seal. It needs urgent replacement. The previous log book is saturated and so we signed the replacement paper.

05-Jan-13
We enjoyed doing this multi and there were lots of butterflies about on a lovely (not so hot) day. TFTC..

15-Dec-12
Had this one sitting solved for many many months waiting my return to Belair. When I tried to find it, I had no luck so I re-did the calcs only to find I had them wrong (all this time). Fortunately I was only out by 8m so no real dramas, and was able to regain my harmony.

Thanks for the cache, Freddo

08-Oct-12
Big crack in the lid and full of water. I dried it out but it needs urgent attention and replacement of the container, and the log. Thanks for the cache. It would of been great if the container was dry, still a good way of finding the coords, great idea!

08-Oct-12
Found it on a very eventful and fun afternoon. First we parked on sheoak road and walked down to the cache "Falling for the view" After that we walked a number of kilometres passing through lower waterfall and we finally ended up here. Worked out the final coords and found cache easily, took trackable. Everything inside was sopping wet. There were a few cm of water in the cache and the ziplock bag holding the logbook was open so it was holding a few cm of water its self. As I squeezed the logbook water came dripping out from between the pages. Dried everything as best I could and put back inside. As for the logbook, It was unfixable. I zipped it up in it's ziplock bag to protect everything else from it. I left a few sheets of paper in there as a temporary log. I then inspected the cache for any signs of where the water got in, it turns out that there is a huge crack in the lid. Needs urgent attention. TFTC.

I had picked up the torch and decided I would not need it! Razz
I could see just fine however geosquidlet did appreciate the iPhone torch to light his way! Smile He thought this structure was really cool!
Had there not have been a "quick, easy multi" here, we would never have seen the tunnel! Thanks Freddo!
For what is such a "quick neat multi", I ended up calling it quits on this one after 20odd minutes of searching!
Who decides to go caching in the bush in Havi's?!
On a rare 25'c day, I wasn't keen on scratching around any deeper in the undergrowth wearing thongs... Eeek!
I'd looked around in all of the logical places, but I was stumped!
Will try to obtain a hint on this one and return some other time!

Pwned us n00bs.

05-May-12
I walked all the way up from the main gate. When I left the car, it never crossed my mind to bring a torch.

Echo..echo...echo....tunnel...tunnel...tunnel. Great spot, haven't been back here since I was in primary school. Came from the west so got to go through it twice. Co-ords spot on!!

Aaah, the harmony of trains and native scrubland. Awesome. Nice work Freddo.

17-Jun-11
(Formerly DavMal60) Driving along Sheoak Rd and thought, I wonder if you can get to WP1 from here. Decided to give it a go via Wilyawa Track. At the train line I discovered a track leading down to WP1.Smile Got to be lucky sometimes. Tested the echo effect in the tunnel before arriving at GZ. Spent a couple of minutes looking to no avail, so decided to look at a few logs. Went back to 09 and found a set of coords that I found to be spot on. Original coords had me 15m away from GZ. Correct coords are

S35 00.A8A E138 39.B3

Signed log and then the climb back to Sheoak Rd. TFTC Freddo

Ahh Echo Tunnel. Such fun as a kid. Have to duck my head these days. Dodgy phone GPS unhelpful, but a little map work put me in the right spot. TFTC Freddo.

Found during a Caching Day Out in the park - a popular place on Anzac Day.
I lived up here in my younger days. A top place for a kid with a bike back then, and no Park fees.
Used to let fire works of in the Tunnel - Dodge the rocks as we ran out, and yes there was an Echo Big Grin
A nice multi and an easy find using a clue from one of the previous logs.
Thanks for having me revisit this area Freddo Cool

24-Apr-11
Found this one in the late afternoon while in a bike ride with Toddler Tardis. DNF'd this one 9 months ago because we had been looking in the wrong place. 900 caches later Mr Tardis was a little smarter and found it, in the obvious place. How embarrassing that we missed it last time. Two of us loved the tunnel, Mrs Tardis was not so keen. SL. TFTC.

Day 264 of non-stop caching.

22-Apr-11
TFTC! I would agree that it's a bit lower than expected - used the adjusted co-ords that were left in another log and found it easily.

A consolation prize after DNFing WPT B of Yurrebilla Start. You've got that song in my head now.
It's so tempting to hop on a train when they just sit there like that. Knowing my luck I'd probably end up with my legs in Melbourne and my torso in Keswick if I tried to jump aboard!

03-Feb-11
Ah, what a place to live. So much serenity! And a bit cooler than outside, too. It was great fun, riding a bike back and forth with no lights, hunched over like Quasimodo. Still got a grazed shoulder for my efforts, though. TFTC Freddo.

A good multi in a pleasant area of the park. A little back and forth walking and a bit of crouching. The hint helped at the GZ. Thanks Freddo for a nice stroll in the park.

04-Nov-10
Great little hide thank you - ages since I have been down here!

Struggled a bit as I can not find out how to enter manual coordinates on my phone, but it was virtually spot on when I found it through instinct and the hint Smile

We came back to this cache after finding the coordinates earlier today. Nowhere2Bseen was straight to it, a great find, and we happily sat and watched a gaggle of muggles pass by without a glance our way. Took the crowmania travel bug... GO CROWS!!
TFTC, and a lovely walk.

Always love tunnels. Yet another cache that we have walked past blissfully unaware of its existence in years gone by before we discovered geocaching.

Just as an aside for visitors to the park in case you didn't know; if you go to the state flora nursery in the park, you show your entrance receipt to the cashier and you can get the entrance fee from the park deducted from the cost of your purchase. This is for people who say that they only came to the park to go to the nursery, not that they ask, you just hand over your entrance receipt to them.

Took TB

I promised three year old Geo son that we would go in a big long tunnel and this was the cache we'd do it on. He was absolutely stoked when we got to the other side and I worked out the final cords the GPS sent us straight back into the tunnel again. Great fun thanks for the cache!

I made a pretty accurate guess at what the sign would say, but went through the tunnel just to be sure! GPS had me looking a bit further uphill from the final location, as others have mentioned. Left: kaleidoscope, took: mirrorball. Thanks Freddo for the cache.

What a fun little tunnel.
Easier for Cal than the rest of us on the main track. Used the creek on the way back (Doh!).
Coords had us slightly out, but headed back down the hill to the appropriate location. Sandy located but wasn't sticking her hand in.
Grabbed the TBs to move on and Cal grabbed a frog; put in a fish ready to swim in the creek when it flows.

I remember this tunnel from when I was a kid. Was great to come back here. Seems much drier than I remember it though. Like others, I found GZ coordinates a bit out, but stumbled across the correct spot anyway making it an easy find.
Left Butterfly Geocoin to enjoy (or add to??) the harmony of the area.

Thanks for bringing me back here!
