From my many visits to this area, I knew where 3 of the photos were taken from I was able to work out GZ with GE and the log was quickly found once at GZ. Thanks for the cache
I slowly found the locations for this over two visits to the lake and roughly plotted the final location at home.Tonight I was near by and had a little time to kill so I went to said approx GZ and walked slowly to the right distances to the photos. This had me vaguely near a hint object so I thought I'd start with that one. After making my way indirectly to the hint object I was pretty unconfident with what stood before me... however I found the cache at the very first spot I tried!T F T C smoking.gun.
Checked the cache. We made a note to tell you that some of the pictures have had maintenance and look a bit different. Cheers
We were staying nearby and enjoyed a walk around the lake to find the waypoints today. Two of them have changed from the original photos, and as a result we chose the wrong jetty, but had enough info from the other three to calculate the final coords. A short walk was made later in the afternoon to locate the final, thankfully all was quiet at GZ. Mrs nzk was grateful for the hint to narrow down hiding places, and the cache was found in the second place she looked, about 10m from her calculated coords. Many thanks smoking gun for the multi, a fave from us.
Here for Womad and thought we'd try this multi. It's a beautiful Saturday morning and we biked to all the checkpoints. Took a little wandering trying to figure out what a cabbage tree was. Found it!! TFTC!
Nice challenging multi! Needed some Google on cabbage trees, but got close and searched. Thanks!
I'd attempted this one a year or two ago but wasn't able to find the cache. Since we were parked up here for a couple of nights, I walked around again, this time I was with matagouri, and we worked through it together.His calculations were pretty good and we found the cache straight away.It's great to pick up another of the older caches. Thanks for setting this up. I left an alphabet stone - the letter B
A walk around Lake Rotomanu with rattll spotted the clues, and coordinates were taken. After that, a quick bit of triangulation gave us the final coordinates. A short walk, some fossicking in the undergrowth, and we soon had the cache in hand. All in good condition. Tftc!
Had a little look at this again today and found a likely set of co-ordinates. We had been to the points on the picture previously and came up with the nice dry cache in just the right place
Lots of people, dogs and water toys out enjoying the area today. Tftc

#21037. We had a stroll (some of the way) around Rotomanu, and soon found the cache. TFTC.
Found with StreetWalkerNZ on ANZAC day, our last full day in New Plymouth.
We had done a similar type of multi down south in Kaiapoi when we were newish cachers and remember it well as it caused a lot of grief. I wondered if I could use the wonders of Google to find some of the locations and it didn't take too long to get a couple of them, and a bit longer to track down the location of a third. That gave me enough information to find a probable location and today, the GPSr took us within 15m of a likely hide, and there was the cache. TFTC.

up in New Plymouth once again and went out with friend to hunt down a few of the remaining caches here that i did not have. I had attempted this one a few months ago but had to abandon the attempt and the day was a little too much for my Mum in law but this time it could be completed and signed off. i took some photos also. i took nothing and left nothing. all was well with the cache thank you for this cache
We did the working out and then headed to the probable spot.Cache soon found and signed the log.Lovely area.TFTC!
We note that the ramp ,seat and building have changed a little bit so check out the photos
We did the sister cache in Auckland back in 2012. Found 2 of the 4 waypoints walking around the lake on the grassy side. There has been some modifications to bot of these, The seat is now missing its top rail and the cabbage tree behind has grown massively. The jetty has had a wooden addition constructed on the bank end. These 2 points ended up being enough to narrow down to a likely spot for the cache which was quickly found using the hint provided. TFTC
Another one we have been meaning to get to for ages - we are here all the time (dog loves to swim here), but I always thought on first look that this would be too difficult for me to figure out. However, now that we have almost exhausted all the traditionals, and many of the multis in New Plymouth and nearby, its time to start taking a second look at the ones we put in the too hard basket when we first started caching (never going to fill those dot days otherwise!). So off it was for a walk with the dog, who had a great time swimming while we stopped to make necessary calculations. GZ found easily, and cache in hand, signed and returned. TFTC
Very cool multi, although I certainly did not run! Enjoyed the walk around the lake so much I decided to walk back around it rather than take a shortcut! Great views also!! TFTC!!
Enjoyed the walk involved in this multi, but when sitting down on the dock to calculate the intersection of circles we were buzzed by far too many non-biting flying irritants. Had to retreat from the water. Better, but still not great. Anyway, we found the cache, in a nice secluded area away from the hordes of campers. Gets a path tag and a favourite.
Day fourteen of Taybeedragon's and my big 3 week circumnavicaching trip around Mt Taranaki, starting from Palmerston North. Today is wandering about New Plymouth. It's Boxing Day! Merry Christmas everyone!!
Highlights:
* 3 weeks, 536 caches
* Mt Taranaki had been removed for washing, which was a bit of a shame. Even after it had been returned we were only allowed to see it for it was less than half an hour a day.
* High percentage of caches with crappy coordinates
* Amazing Pukekura Park
* AMAZING Pukekura Park light show!
* Pukeiti Gardens
* Lots of cache maintenance!
***[======== NZ Mega 2020 ========](http://nzmega.com)***
Planning for the [NZ Mega 2020](http://nzmega.com) event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 23 to 26 October 2020. It's going to be a massive celebration of geocaching:
* 20 years of geocaching worldwide.
* 20 years since New Zealand had the very first geocache hidden outside of USA.
* And it's 2020 - all the 20s!
Talk to your geo-friends and start planning to be part of [this event](https://coord.info/GC87777) - you won't want to miss it!

.Drove into this great area. Then out for a walk to complete capturing the info to get us to GZ.. Another walk to a secluded part of this area to get this one snagged and tagged. Cheers. Popular place today.
Day 14 - Boxing Day, Thursday 26 December. Around New Plymouth again today then started moving north. .
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are spending Christmas exploring Taranaki via geocaching. Its been an amazing 3 week adventure. Rattls BBQ was a great event, meeting many other cachers. But also managed to fit in a few more events, especially New Years Day celebrating the start of 2020. Lots of caches - over 500. Lots of cache maintenance. Lots and lots of kilometers. And lots of amazing places visited along our journey. Mt Taranaki remained elusive for much of our travels and the caches on it at the top. Loved Pukekura Park Night Lights Show and the the Wooden Mechanical toy exhibition at NP Info centre.

Woke up early and watched the RWC final that I'd recorded. It was a very nice morning so after that I decided to spend a couple of hours on this cache. After a pleasant walk around I eventually found all the points and computed the intersection. Off I went to the spot and, as I approached, was pleased to see a two headed cabbage tree at about my target. Soon had the log signed. Thanks, a very enjoyable cache, a FP.

Nice one! I like the idea. Its only the second time that I've done a cache with a task like this. I used the "offline method": I walked around the lake to create waypoints and then used the very useful GCC app http://gcc.eisbehr.de/ (should be available in English, too) to calculate possible coordinates for GZ. It worked on the first attempt, leading me to a spot just 10m away from the cache. Cool thing to do as a little evening walk. TFTC + fav.point!
We solved this one last night while in our camper. We could see a couple of the locations from where we parked and then we used Google Street map to locate another to determine what waypoint it o
Would be out of two. We got a rough idea from that.
After breakfast the next day we went to find while it just started lightly showing. As we got to the area there was a couple of options but from a small type of geotrail we found fast. Signed and returned it back. Quick multi when not many options for caches around this beautiful lake. Thanks for the cache!

I had decided to take some time out from my study and head into town to find some geocaches and as I had a solved puzzle nearby, I thought I would attempt this multi as well. I had looked at this several times and kind of new what to do but put it in the too hard basket. But today, I was able to quickly locate some online tools which helped me with solving this, I was fairly confident I knew where at least three of the locations were, it was just the 4th one which was tripping me up and had me in the water.
I managed to get two good intersecting places using the online tools and was able to rule one out pretty quickly, I had a feeling the final would be in the area I thought. I sent a message to a previous finder to confirm my co-ordinates and they were only a couple of numbers off what they had. So I made my way here using her co-ordinates in the end, i rounded a corner and instantly saw the hint object in the area. After I had retrieved the cache and signed the log I had a quick look at the view and then decided to see where my co-ordinates would have put me - amazingly, my co-ordinates put me 3 metres away from the final whereas my friends had me some 30 metres away (but it was the hint object that sold it too me). Cache is in good condition for not being found for over a year, I was also able to find the nearby puzzle which had also not been found in over a year so a great day all round.
A lovely little spot to find a cache in and would not have known about this area otherwise so a fav point awarded.

Yep cache still there but not as many cabbage trees, so changed the hint. Cheers
Up here for a whole as caregiver for Mum. Made a good start using on online tool or two, then headed out to firm. Up my findings. Found all of the way points a couple of days ago, but there were muggles at the seat and couldn't get coords there. Call back home to help out, so did the final calculations at home. A couple of hours 'off' so back today. Honed in on my coords, yes a hint object there, but no cache. Hmm is there more to the clue than I first thought? In the end there wasn't as I moved around a bit and spotted more options. Soon after had the cache in hand.
Thanks for a different type of multi, might use it down south, so a favourite from me.
Thanks for the smilie smoking gun.

Great cache, took us a while to fine the right chair but we got there. TFTC
While we were heading to the park gates to start this multi, we were lucky enough to come across one of the waypoints pictured in the 4 photos. Now the hunt was on to find the other 3. We had lots of fun finding them all - and the cache was located exactly where we thought it would be.
Excellent / well done - and thanks smoking gun for all the work that has gone into setting this up.

16 years ive lived in new plymouth and it not once have i been to this part of the laje didnt even know it was here thats the beauty of geocaching Had great fun solving this one mrs found it first cache in great condition tftc
Found with tracy.g, logging now as I now have my own account. Came here many times with my mum to try and complete this!
This multi has plagued me since the start of summer! Took me a bit to figure out a way to narrow it down with a computer but someone helped me out finally. Then it's taken me 2 visits to find the exact location. Luckily we took our gumboots today as it's very soggy underfoot! So glad to have a smiley finally on this. TFTM
Aiming to get a little more of my caching calender populated plus wanting to knock off a few multistage and mystery caches when time allows. Having worked out the three key spots on a previous lake side visit, I returned with my solution in hand.
At first I was rocking it but after reading the hint, I reevaluated the situation and scouted the area to quickly find the cache location and sign the log.
Cheers Smokey.

Jeeah, after camping that night at the lake, and after a lot of searching in the visinity, i finally could log this one. Now its time for breakfast.

Found at last! Now I am back to almost normal walking, I decided I had to do this cache - it had waited long enough. Lovely spot to spend a few minutes, as I waited for a couple of bikers to disappear into the bushes. TFTC
I did some google-fu before our trip down to New Plymouth, and that, along with some number crunching gave me two possible solutions. Of those one was the more likely so we popped out to have a look and see what we could find. My hunch proved correct and we quickly had the cache in hand. Nicely done multi...TFTC!
a little bit of arm chair puzzle solving using google maps, found after work, lovely spot watching the boats on the lake, TFTC
This cache deserves more visitors. We biked around three WP then did the calculation using GCC. the margin was 12m but with the hint we found the cache in the first place we looked. A great view of Mt Taranaki from here tonight. TFTC.
Good cache. Went better once we looked into the details and realised the coordinates were not directly to the cache. Picked up a trackable to take on another trip.
So much fun! Lovely find! Found with Osbourneroadoddballs. A quick sneak away! Cool as!
Nice evening adventure. New kind of clues which we enjoyed even though no gps and all done old school estimating!
Easy find with Red 6 and our Montana GPSr.
Got it with just two waymarks.
Nice area. A Fav for me.

Out with Zork for a morning of caching and munzeeing! This was cool as we got to use some of the other features hidden in our GPS. Found it after getting 2 of the waypoints, but we still completed our walk around the lake. TFTC
Did not see the seat on my walk around the lake but 3 points was enough for my new GPSr. TFTC
Finally got this one after a few unsuccessful attempts over the last couple of years. TFTC
After struggling through the gorse around the wrong tree I nearly gave up. Till I saw the correct tree. TFTC
enjoyed the walk round. Didnt think about finding this one to start off with and missed a few spots. Took a couple off readings at the others and was able to work out the final. Love the lake on a gorgeous day out. Cheers for the fun multi.
An enjoyable drive/Walk Around Rotomanu for us, quickly had a couple of landmarks pinpointed, managed to identify a third. This gave us sufficient info to triangulate the final spot. Many thanks for setting up this fun multi, brought back great memories of "Domain Terrain" and "Spring Geometry", which we completed in Auckland many years ago. A good test of our powers of observation.
think i found the right tree after a walk around the lake, but it was just on dark by the time i did, so have noted it to go back and have a look
Excellent little puzzle. GC exactly where supposed to be. Left Phronimos token & huggie. TFTC
Took a bit of working out. Once you found the four sites it became clearer. Little miss bosses found this one.
2nd time looking for this one. Went with a couple of friends and no-one could locate the cache, although we are sure we were in the right area! Third time lucky maybe? Maybe a check up is in order to see if it's not been taken by muggles?
Sad. Pretty sure we were in the right spot but just couldn't find the blasted thing! Will try again another day!
Enjoyed this one so it gets a favourite point for something a bit different as well as the lovely location. We were camped overnight by the lake, cycled out towards Bell Block along the Coastal Walkway first, locating 2 of the photos as we went and after getting back we walked (not ran ) to locate the other two. I was then surprised to discover my new Garmin GPSMap 62s gave me the ability to triangulate myself to within metres of the cache location so didn't need to plot the waypoints on a map and do it with pencil and paper. The hint completed the find in short order. Lovely location on a mild sunny day with little wind. Cache seemed a little empty so left a plastic rhino. TFTC
Nice afternoon to do this cache. I have not done a multi like this before but found it surprisingly without any trouble. TFTC smoking gun
Found with a bit of help from mum and the big brother cabbage tree was a lot of help
Triangulated this sometime ago and finally got round to looking for it on a family bike ride.
A picnic tea, followed by a walk around the lake. We didn't run as we had a nearly-three-year-old in tow, and besides, we've seen runners and they rarely look happy. Knees took the honours for the find, and left a leather key tag. Took nothing, signed log. Thanks for the cache.

That was a surprise as Co-Ords had me within 3m of the final. lucky I say although the muggle dog wondered why I was more interested in the bush than he was

JDSavannah headed back to my mum's place via Weka St and Peringa Park, so I knocked this one off. Photos have changed over time, but this one has stumped me a couple of times. Lake in full use, one waterskier and a couple of jetskiers out here and plenty of people boozing and barbequing on a lovely Taranaki evening. TFTC
Know this lake very well and not being able to solve this type of cache at its location did the solving before leaving home. Just didnt have enough time to run around the lake but did ensure I ran to the final in keeping with the cache name. Found cache in the first place I looked (so happy with the brain cells remembering the area). Cache was a bit exposed so covered it up again with local camo. TFTMC. Gets a favourite to encourage others to visit this great area.
I said we would be back and we did this time we found it after waiting for a muggles to move on many thanks TFTC
Yep the sign has gone, will replace pic with one of Green concrete block shed, same distance. Thanks.
we spent hours on this one but didnt find the sign with pathway to weka st on it but we did see a different sign that pointed to some other park and weka street we walked the lake twice but lap top only showed 2 photos as well so next time we are back in New plymouth we will return to solve the puzzle Many thanks all the same nad we will return
Plenty of muggles out walking, cycling and zooming around the lake on jet-skis today. Beautiful day for it.
Cache was half full of water. Log book was dry enough though so signed it. Dried everything out as best I could. Perhaps some plumbing tape on the threads for the screw on lid?
