The container is wrecked and everything inside was wet. We added a new sheet of paper to sign but the whole thing needs to be replaced.
Found as Nicnax with MazzyMay. She had started this one previously but we finished it off today and went for a walk to find the cache. Very pleasant area for a wander. The cache unfortunately was in poor condition, we dried out the plastic bag as best we could and put a new sheet of paper in. TFTC
Found as NicNax with SciFiRulz, making the most of a beautiful day. I had this solved for a very long time but eventually had the space to go looking. Very impressed with the area. Stunning. TFTC
I have lived in the area for 7 years and never never know about this. AMAZING! loved the place, loved the history. Well done!!!
Cache needs a little TLC .... broken lid and needs new log.

Find #1159 for me. I'd gathered the necessary clues on previous visits to Ballarat. Despite the wet weather today (which seems to be accompanying me on most of my Sunday visits to Ballarat), I made my way to GZ for a quick find. As GeoYogster before me noted, the container has a broken lid with one of the clips missing. The contents, however, were reasonably dry despite the rain and I was able to find a spare space on the log-sheet to add my name. This was a great area Smegheads, so thanks for bringing me here today and thanks for the cache!
Found this little fella today with a broken lid and full of water, all needs replacing.
Good day to get out and start the next season. Found the waypoints and made made my way to the final with the family. What an excellent little swamp I didnt know existed and I'm sure the multitude of sing frogs agree it's very quiet.
Gee I made this one harder than it was meant to be. However after only thinking that there was one level or set of coordinates to decipher I realised that I had more. Then on the second trip out I can finally get the elusive smiley!
Previously found with Dawsi007 but left the signing of log until a day when i could take geodaughter out caching because she likes finding the 'treasures'. Unfortunately this Cache is in poor condition and has water from previous rainfall in it so contents are damaged. Couldn't sign log either because log and pen were wet. Photo taken instead. NTNL.
This is just around tne corner from where my son lives so I have been meaning for a while to complete it. Glad i made the time today, it was a beautiful day making for a lovely walk.
Found a damaged container, and had to sign a wet log.

I was hoping to get a bonus traditional cache on the way to GZ but it was disabled. The cache is in poor condition but the log is holding up brilliantly. Thanks for the cache Smegheads.
Finally managed to stop at the first point when muggle nan needed to stop here, so just couldn't resist gathering the required information and off we went, thanks so much for this amazing multi, so much interesting information and a beautiful area to visit, has been many many many years since we were last here, it really has improved. TFTC
Solved first waypoint easily but stumbled on the second as didn't read questions properly. Oops. Once I'd plugged in coordinates I saw my error and soon fixed. Cache was found easily and enjoyed the walk listening to the birds and insects chirping. I noticed that Container is broken and will need new log soon too. Tftc. oh no starting to be eaten by mossies. Better scram.
Found this one with geodad, got hit in the face with a branch on the way in Ouch!!. Tftc
Well a few days in Ballarat has nearly turned into a fortnight.
Indeed a very intesting Multi.
Thanks for sharing with us.
Thanks for feeding our GeoAddiction.

Cache zombified.
Gathered the information needed at wp 1 & 2. Quickly had the cache in hand and log signed. Left some extra swaps for the kids. Cache in good order.

You're right we never never did know but now we do, thanks for sharing another piece of interesting history with the caching world and with us today
A nice lesson in local history on a pleasant Sunday afternoon drive thanks for the great multi!
Yuille never know and I didn't know about this spot. I really enjoyed working through the steps and the final location.
Decided I will have to come back to show Tag-along this great spot.

Back in Ballarat this afternoon and took the opportunity to grab some caches before heading home. I never knew about this area before today. Great spot for a cache. Thanks Smegheads for the multi & for bringing me to this spot.
Found today on a sunny caching afternoon in Ballarat with son Lazyade. We had been wanting to do this multi for a while as it has a touch of personal significance to us. Chook's great great grandfather was a jockey for William Crosse Yuille, and rode the horse Flying Buck to win the first Australian Champion Sweepstakes in 1859, which became the Melbourne Cup the following year, at what became Flemington Racecourse. We have followed the history of WC Yuille's journeys of settlement across Ballarat and Western Victoria. So it was very special for us to be brought here, and has to be a favourite from us simply for this. Enjoyed the walk around here. TFTC Smegheads.

Been wanting to find this one for a while. Tried to complete a few days ago but the numbers didnt seem right. Went back and got the same results, then I slowed down ans re-read the questions properly and yaaaa we found it. TFTC
Finally completed this cache that we started weeks ago. WP1 and WP2 were done together but we needed more time to come back for this find. Such a lovely spot that most locals don't know about and I only discovered it due to geocaching. Thanks for bringing me and the geokids (aged 3 & 5) here.
Great multi, after a couple of false starts at waypoint 2 I finally got some coordinates that worked. We made our way to gz and the council mowers were mowing the area so we walked on with the geomutt. When we returned they had gone so we soon had the log signed. Thanks Smegheads.
This was an enjoyable cache that highlighted the interesting history of the area. It was great to visit the locations and GZ was an excellent choice. We really enjoyed the walk and today the weather was perfect for it.
Thanks to Smegheads for the cache.

Found this afternoon in the company of several caching groups. It was a nice little stroll to GZ to make the find. Thanks for the hide Smegheads.
Thanks for the cache, cool multi. Found this afternoon with Glanville Girls, Nettie1234, Motndarg, Rehfisch Clan, The Lookabouts, McLookers and some caching newbies. Cache in great condition, thanks Smegheads.
Found this multi this afternoon after school with Glanville Girls, Tomstache, Nettie1234, Motndarg, Rehfisch Clan, The Lookabouts and some newby cachers. The history of this area is very interesting, yet another aspect of Sebastopol we new little about. The walk to the cache was very pretty in the afternoon, meeting a bike riding family along the way. Thanks for bringing us to this area Smegheads, we stayed a little longer and had a picnic afternoon tea too.
Caching today with geo friends. Nice walk to cache , must come back here again and do a longer walk . Enjoyed a picnic avo tea afterwards. Thanks Smegheads for bringing us here.
Our Wednesday GeoGroup expedition, had never been to this part of Ballarat before and thoroughly enjoyed it, thanks for the hide Smegheads
Found with Mum and Dad while we were going for a walk.
Dad remembered that there was a cache somewhere around here and found it straight away. Not bad for 7 years later. There needs to be a new logbook and we didn't have anything with us sorry as we weren't planning on geocaching.

Interesting piece of history and enjoyable multi. After correction on my final coordinates following a talk with Phetlern, was able to walk up and find this IPV before logging and returning with more cover. Not sure if CO wants this partially exposed so did not fully camo. Took tiger, Left turkey. TFTC Smegheads.
Seemed to solve the puzzle OK after visit to both WPs. Then went to GZ but it got way too dark and found myself tripping over things before I was calling it quits for the day. Return soon to continue the search, although worried I may have the wrong GZ coordinates, because no easy find like others. No coordinate checker though!?
Our first multi out with the whole geo family. Took a bit to suss it all out but finally success. Great hide. Tftc

Our plans to complete the BSRT series before attending the Coffee & Caching Anyone? No:2 event today, were thwarted by cold, wet and windy weather. We opted to seek out some caches closer to the city where we could retreat to the geovehicle quickly if necessary and this cache was one of them. After venturing in the wrong direction and then a transposition of digits we found this cache fine and dry and as a bonus picked up a dozen or so golf balls on the way back to our geovehicle - interesting! A great multi with lots of history.
Satellites today had our GZ 7m east of where we found the cache located.
FEEDBACK TO CO:- Cache is sitting in a depression that looks as though it collects water - cache contents are OK.
TNLN . . SL . . Thanks for the hunt Smegheads.

Had a lot if trouble with this one last time I was in ballarat with the second part.
Luckily I photographed it and gave it another go at home. Now back in ballarat it was time to finish off. Cache was rather obvious on arrival and a fair way from my original calculations I believe. Tftc tnln

Found on a night caching session with LionJRB. This one took us a bit as we were not crunching the numbers right, but we got it in the end. TFTC Smegheads
While in Ballarat went on a night caching trip. took a bit of time on the maths but was a good bit of history. TFTC
An interesting part of Ballarat's history. Took a while to find this one. It was where I didn't think it would be. TFTC
Found with misschief18 and TilleyTB. The day , or was it just me, got hotter and hotter as we searched, but after a call to the CO, the cache was soon in hand. Interesting bit of Ballarat history. Thanks smegheads!
Found this one today after a lovely walk on a beautiful day. Also grabbed the traditional down there whilst we were in the area. Plenty of ducks and swans about today.

After logging a DNF the last time the Pies belted the Cats on a night run, I returned today only to realise all I'd got to was WP1. Today that was remedied, and after finding the nearby Zebra cache, made my way to the 'real' GZ, where a long search eventually turned up the cache.
A better omen for the Pies again against the Cats.
Thanks Rob & Bec

Found with rookie29. Didn't answer all questions correctly the first time, but soon found where we were meant to be. A nice walk (a little light rain to contend with) and we were at GZ.
We searched and searched and thought we might have made a mistake and just as we were ready to quit rookie spotted it!

After dropping son no.2 off at his school formal, I had 3 hours to either stay in Ballarat and cache, or head home, wait an hour and then return for the pick-up. Think I made the right choice.
Night caching with a headtorch is a whole new kettle of fish, but there's the bonus of fewer muggles too I did the calcs easily enough, and when I got to GZ, I was even surer I had things right, but a 15 minute search, admittedly in the dark, revealed nothing. I was at a monument surrounded by conifers, so I was hoping a circumnavigation would reveal it. never mind, I learnt a lot from this great multi, thanks anyway Rob and Bec.

This was going to be the fourth cache for the day but got sidetracked and spent far too long finding my way into Plattens Plot but really enjoyed the challenge that this cache presents.
I have been here before to find another cache and I also will return as there is another multi close by that I have not found either. I think the MB will be the way to grab these caches along this trail.
Interesting cache as you learn about our history and a pleasant location as well.
It is obvious that the cache has had some water problems and is in need of some TLC as the log is soggy and very few swaps if that is what some family's require. The ageing Bushfire does not swap any more but will move travellers on.
Thanks Smeqheads for placing this guy.

Found on our Ballarat Smackdown weekend with DazRascal, Blacklegend, Trailrunning and Quasar3671!
Had no problems with so many eyes and brains to work out the details for GZ, after a short stroll with kidlets in tow the cache was soon located after a brief search.
Many thanks for bringing us here & for an interesting multi. TNLN SL. Cheers.

One of 184 cache finds during our "Ballarat Smackdown" weekend of caching on the 23rd to 25th. There were 13 of us including Blacklegend and three of his kids, Trailrunning, Haveanez and their two boys, Dazrascal and myself amd my two boys Tyler and Cooper. We'd spent a few weeks planning the trip, with every Ballarat Puzzle solved in the area, cache lists and road and route maps all ready to go. We stayed in the Miners Retreat Motel for the two nights and the accomodation and facilities were great. Our goal was simple - find as many caches as possible in the time we were here !
We found a great variety of caches and hides during the three days, which also involved a bit of walking and some 4WD fun as well in the state forests north of Ballarat. The weather was quite cold of the Friday and Saturday morning but eventually cleared to nice sunny weather Saturday arvo and Sunday. We all had a great time, especially the kids who did really well to keep up with the pace we were moving.
Our second day of caching and it was to be our biggest day and fullest day too. We had a nice little walk to GZ after solving the multi part of the cache. Found out in the open. Thanks for the cache.

One of 182 caches I personally found during our "Ballarat Smackdown" trip. The trip included teams Quasar3671, Trailrunning, Haveanez, Dazrascal and myself. Caches included around 30 mystery caches, a few earth caches, lots of trads and multis and both day and night caching. Some 4WD action was encountered as well, which was great. All puzzles within 60kms were solved.
I took three of my kids, Jasmine 7yo, James and Jemma 5yo twins, traveling from Tocumwal. The trip covered 3 days and two nights, staying in Ballarat. Quasar3671 took his two boys as did Haveanez. One of the best caching trips I have been on, and certainly lots and lots of finds, almost clearing out the main Ballarat area. Home base was the Miners Retreat motel, which was quite pleasant and quiet.
This was a find on our massive Saturday run, which included both day and night caches. Lunch was a picnic in the bush at one or our cache stops. A night caching run was undertaken after a rest and dinner.
Solved multi part, then a nice walk in and an easy find. TFTC and another Ballarat multi.

After a successful Friday evening to start off the “Ballarat Cache Smackdown” with 34 finds on the first day the Saturday was always going to be a day of superhuman effort. It started early with a run heading west and south, only to finish the day and night with a run to the Northwest and North. A great day was had by all because there was some good 4WDing and the weather held out for the day with only one notable shower. A total of 98 caches were collected today, and it shows you how quickly a cache can be located with so many searchers. This cache was one of them. Cache was out in open and an easy find. Thanks for cache #45
Suscoe found this cache after a little bush work and then a recalculation.
Glad this happened as we got to meet David and Mary.
Had a nice chat, it is always nice to finally put faces and names to the challenges that we have worked on.
Anyway back into it and a successful outcome this time.
The swans and cygnets weren't too impressed with us.
Signed the log, TNLN.

Lovely spot for a stroll. I was given a lesson on chicken wire and ice by the frog. Fascinating stuff. Clear skies from TeamAstro.
The cache was all over the place when we found it. Cleaned up some trash and hid it a bit better. Lovely park. Thanks for the fun.
FIND TODAY WITH DE_HUON NICE HIDE. LOG WAS UNUSEABLE SO HAVE PUT NEW PAPER IN HOPE THIS WILL STAY DRY TNLN THANKS
Cache was practically full of water. Drained it and the log bag however it all needs to be dried out and a new log book.
Surprised I found this given my ability to solve puzzles. It's a good hide however unable to sign the saturated log. Needs maintenance. TFTC and easy enough puzzle.
The numbers part wasn't a big challenge for me, but I've been to GZ once before, looked all over the joint and could have sworn the cache just wasn't there. Came back determined to finish off one of Ballarats oldest caches, some kid was coming up the track on his gokart and I crouched down in the bushes so I wouldn't freak him out, turns out I was crouching right next to the cache
Another one done on a sunny afternoon.
The contents of the cache are still soggy and slimey.
The log book is unusable, so put a page out of a notepad in a plastic bag in there
until log dries or is replacedTFTC

Decided to head out and do a multi today. Found information board easily enough and geokids and I had fun answering the questions. Put in co-ordinates and off we went looking for the next bit of information. Where's the sign????? Oh, second part on #2 was to divide by two and add ten. That part really does make a big difference - oops!! Ok, now we found the information and after a pleasant walk easily found cache.
Took turtle and left shampoo bottle.
Thanks for a fun afternoon with the geokids.

YAAY!!! My first Multi-Cache, searched in the wrong spot for about 35 minutes until i read a previous finders log and received a hint to the location of the cache, quickly walked to where i thought it could be located and within a minute i had the container open, nice little hide, took mini tennis ball and left a green gorilla figurine TFTC Log needs replacing as it is full
Found the cache and discovered some things I didn't know about the area despite living in the Ballarat area for most of my life.
I'm not sure if I took a short cut or discovered the (extremely) steep dirt track, never the less I made it to GZ and was about to start looking around when I realised I was almost standing on the cache. In the end a very enjoyable multi, TFTC!

Collected this one this morning after a minor correction to the numbers I punched in. Of course it wasn't going to be in the middle of the lake. Been to GZ before on a walk some years ago. Noticed a few minor changes to the area this time, like the metal steps that have actually added an extra hundred metres or so to one's descent path. A truly interesting historical area. TNLN. Many thanks for the tour.
