#10,020. Day 2 of the extended Labour Weekend geocaching road trip. I flew down with geocaching buddy Infoferret yesterday with a target list of geotour caches, adventure labs, puzzle finals, a few virtuals and a hike to get the DGSC final. We can't resist stopping to pick up a few traditionals on the way to boost the overall numbers. The Adventure Labs claimed during the week down south have thrown my overall numbers into chaos. Maybe the souvenir 10,000 find will pop up today rather than on Bank's Peninsula. Who knows when.
I had this cache showing up on my GPS when we reached the summit of Porters Pass. Had no idea at the time it was archived. So we wandered around near GZ and eventually found a place under some shrubs where there were two rocks and we found a small piece of geo treasure (a cache finders metal token) left behind under the leaf litter. We cleaned up the site and confirmed the original has gone but claiming the find as its clearly where the cache sat for so many years. Thanks Conton for hiding it here.

Found as part of an epic trip around the South Island with GSEL – from Akaroa to the West Coast and back again over the Arthurs and Lewis passes. The weather was amazing, and the scenery breathtaking.
GSEL had this one loaded, so we stopped to see what was there.

Had a good look and found a potential cache area complete with 2 flattish rocks which could once have covered a cache. Not sure if it is gone or I'm blind. Had a good adventure though as 5 hikers came upon me as they had wandered off the track so I drove them down to their car at the track entrance on the sharp bend then came back for another look. Nothing spotted. Might be gone?
Found the spot it should be but there appears to be no cache so could be worth checking
Found at 3:26 pm while on a week's break in Christchurch. Will expand log when we get back home (as well as answers to questions, qualifying caches, photos, etc.).
We had to stop at the top on the way back to Christchurch as I figured there would be a cache up here, and I was right! Wandered over through the tussock and after getting turned back by the spikey plant, eventually found the cache. Signed the log and replaced, then grabbed a chunk of snow to throw at the car . All good here. TFTC

Not sure how this is a 1 1 but we found it no worries thanks to the GPS. Thank you for placing a cache here. Tftc
Out and about over the Easter weekend grabbing some caches as I head to Christchurch via the west coast. Thank you for placing all these wonderful caches out for me to find. Had fun looking in, under , around and behind to find them. Apologies for the cut and paste logs. Your caches made the trip a lot more interesting with some adventure thrown in. TFTC
Thanks for the prickly time I think I’ll go around the back that Spaniard is looking to scary for me

Heute: 12.

A nice stop with a beautiful view. A relatively quick find despite our lack of flora knowledge. Thought we were about to be joined by fellow cachers but they turned out to be photo muggles. TFTC!

Wanted to stop yesterday on the way to Craigieburn but the fog around the pass was insane! You could only see literally a few meters in front of the car. So couldn't see where the pullover spot was at all.
Today, in daylight, and going towards Chch, was much easier to stop. Next goal is to do the Castle Hill Peak hike from here!

Fantastic view appeared in the clouds just as we found this! Beautiful location. TFTC!
Picture of plant I was spiked a few times but lovely location and nice painted rock in the cache
First visit to New Zealand, and what a way to see this beautiful country - a lap of the South Island by motorhome!
We started in Christchurch and today hit the road towards the mountains.
Finding the cache was easy. Manouevring the massive motorhome to turn around in the parking area - a little tricker!

We have a quite a lot of driving today and after spending a long time at Castle Hill Rocks we needed to push on but did stop briefly to pick up this one- great views but I was pleased the shrubs hid me from view when getting hold of it! Prickly here too! Thanks.
Found it on the second stop at this rest area for today. My GPS was all over the place on the first attempt, and I was flying blind since I tend to rely on an internet connection most of the time. So while I was back down the hill chasing FTFs I made sure to save a bit of extra info offline to help me out up here. On the revisit I managed to find it pretty quick - those Spaniards really are ass holes though! Pleased to get the smiley after that DNF ages ago too. TFTC (3635)
After 5 weeks Australia I went for 8 days to NZ. In this time I drove 2100km, hiked over 100km and searched and found lots of Cache on the gorgeous South Island!
Sorry, that I publish a uniformly post, but I cant remember all of them.
Thanks to all the Owner and all my Kiwi friends for this great time. New Zealand ist the most beautiful country in the world - by far!
Cheers from Switzerland

We travelled to Arthurs Pass today. On the way we found this cache.

First aid needed here as the guardian got me before I got the cache. I noticed blood pouring down my leg and had to apply a tissue and pressure to stem the flow. Started to hobble away and realised I'd left my GPS there so had to return. Not my favourite cache I'm afraid. TFTC
A great place to stop & enjoy some views on such a beautiful day. The place was clear when we arrived, so we headed for GZ. Just before we got there a muggle car pulled in. They got out to take some photo's & looked our way. You could tell they were wondering if we had the best place for photo taking, but fortunately they stayed where they were.
Mr Rattll was able to make the find while "posing" for photo's.
We left a pet rock - a koala. Thanks for the cache Moneydork

Day # 7 in New Zealand on a geocaching holiday-trip covering Thailand, Australia and finally my beloved NZ .
I had so much looked forward to return to this beautiful country, and now I'm here again - awesome!
Today's tour took me from Timaru via Alpine Roads to Arthurs Pass.
The weather was brilliant throughout the trip – although very strong winds . The landscape was sensational [^] and scenic spots invited for a photo-stop or a little rest - or a little cache ....
Needless to say, that along the route quite a lot of little treasures were waiting to be discovered .
Ended up in rainy and chilly [B)] Arthurs Pass - but rewarded with 30 Finds - a good days work [^] !
The wind was almost blowing me away in this pass [B)].
But managed to keep two feet in the ground an found the nice box! [^]
Hey - Canterbury and Southern Alps- you have awesome caches [^] !
A big thanks [:X] to all Owners involved [^] for hiding and maintaining .
Cheers from Germany

Travelling around NZ from th UK. Today is our last day so drove out from Christchurch to Arthur's Pass. On the way back found this cache and the lovely views over the valley below. Photo to follow.
Its a 3 week expedition, with The Seagnoid and Zara, round the South Island. Rakiura Walkway, my objective, is bagged, so its homeward bound the long way round. Its day 21 of our epic journey - Hokitika to Christchurch today.
Great views from here but a bit too cold and breezy to be staying long. Maybe why muggles exiting fast as no one left when we departed. Careful where you sit or walk with that spikey grass out to get you. Snagged and tagged. Sheers

Grabbed the cache on the way over from the coast to ChCh. There were a few muggles not far from GZ but using the I'm just taking a few photos ploy managed to get to the cache. The spaniard gave me a few knicks but not much blood lost. Thanks for the placement.
In NZ from Australia and after geocaching in Aus wearing "thongs" (flip flops) we didn't know what a dracophyllum shurb was or a Spaniard, but my foot does now!!! Cache found easy! TFTC
Wee bit tricky with the GPS jumping all over the show but found in after a couple of minutes
We stopped at the top of the pass to find this one. The views were great but there was a strong cold wind. Thankfully it didn't take long to locate the cache. This was number 1700 for us. TFTC, a fave point.
Went on a big adventure with Wafflekitties and geo pups, had a blast thanks for the memories! TFTC.
Found while on holiday in the South Island with LCBuilder and our two geodogs. We spent 3 weeks travelling down the east coast and then up the west coast, moving to a different campsite each night. We got a few geocaches along our way; our best day was 41 and our worst was 6 we saw a lot of awesome sights and will definitely have to come back one day! TFTC!
My gosh, it was an icy blast blowing up the pass while attempting to find this one.
On the way back with the CeeZeeWees from exploring the Cave Stream we stopped to collect some more geocaches. Stunning view from GZ.TFTC
Driving from Nelson to Springfield today and grabbed some caches along the way including this...

We are taking a 3 week vacation from the UK to tour around New Zealand. Arrived in Christchurch from Wellington this morning. Collected the car and started the drive to Greymouth via Porters Pass, Arthur's Pass and then the scenic route passing by Lake Brunner. We stopped and picked up many a drive by cache on our way without any problems. Thanks for everyone's hard work setting up and maintaining these caches.

Good place to stop and rest the truck after a steep climb. Great place fora lunch stop and to enjoy the views. TFTC
After a full on day yesterday conquering Mt Bealey and swimming across lake Pearson a leisurely drive back to Geraldine today picking up a few P and G s along the way was a good plan
managed to evade the armada today with a relatively quick find

Mega trip to NZ: day 4, alone with my beloved squib. We wanted to drive towards west coast (turned back after Arthur's pass) and find some caches. Thanks for the fun and greetings from Finland.
Found this once the GPS on phone finally settled. On our way to Greymouth to visit sick relative. Over Labour weekend.
Found it with Team FIN [janahola, kapeka, laalaa & temyllyl]
We had fun with caching few weeks here in New Zealand. Lots of geocaches and many sort of them too. We saw awesome places, weather was pretty good all the time and people were friendly and polite. Caches were pretty similar like in our home country. Of course there were some exeptions. Nice and really scenary country!

Eighth day on our geo-roadtrip in New Zealand, and caching our way towards south. Logged using our group nickname FIN with janahola, laalaa and kapeka. Heading to Christchurch Mega event. Todays route took us through Arthurs Pass and some spectacular views by mountains.
On a geoholiday road tripping to Christchurch MEGA and around beautiful New Zealand. Our four people group (temyllyl, laalaa, kapeka and myself) from Finland used group tag FIN to log the caches.
Welcome to MEGA Finland in 5-7 august 2016!
Today we drove from Greymouth to Christchurch. Of course some caching on the way. Our plan was to get there in time to Twilight Picnic event. And we did. This was one of finds on the way. Beautiful spot. TFTC!
Welcome to MEGA Finland in 5-7 august 2016!
Spaniards! So that's what those spikey little plants that MrG was calling a pineapple bush are...similar look but a whole wrong climate! So our first ever encounter with a spaniard was here. Beautiful views every direction and crisp invigorating air. TFTC Moneydork.
Stunning views despite the wind nearly whisking us away. So glad I stopped here. Tftc ♡ ♥
Haven't stopped here before so this was a great reason . Clear views today. Thanks
Snow - shouldn't have bothered attempting, just too difficult with the hard snow around.
Found on our 25 day New Zealand South Island holiday.
Apologies for the late log but with little or no internet as we travelled and only super slow WiFi in van parks I decided to log all finds on my return home.
After driving up from Twizel today, we stopped in Arthurs Pass for lunch and some caches, really enjoyed the drive with its amazing scenery.

Stopped to take a rest from following slow truck..(.woo they go real slow in both, directions here...)because it looked like a spot that should have a cache and sure enough it did..Not having either a latin or NewZealand botanical mind the clue made no sense at all...so we had to resort to good old fashioned systemia spotting...(perhaps suggest a clue that works for the lay man so as to prevent the trampling every thing style of seaching some cachers can resort to - luckly we were tall enough to stand and scan... no tb spotted
On an epic caching mission with Shannonp1 through Reefton to Greymouth over the Lewis Pass, cacheing in Greymouth then returning to Rangiora via Arthurs Pass over two days. Final count for the weekend was over 200 caches. Quick easy find on our way past.
On an epic caching mission with Surveybase to North canterbury, Waipara, Culverdon, Springs Junction, Reefton, Greymouth, Arthurs Pass and back to Rangiora over two days. Final count for the weekend was Saturday 124 caches, Sunday 80 caches. not a bad weekends work. sorry for the cut and paste but it would take forever to log them all. Pretty cold up here today but deserted. Last time I were here there were about 50 people trying to use their cell phones. TFTC.
Found my hundredth cache! Woohoo! Great spot and great weather for it too. Since I pass by often, now I'll always think of the hundredth cache.
