FOUND IDEAL SPOT THOUGH! Saw the platypus - quite a big one and had a lovely picnic lunch.
Had a look in the obvious spots, and then some not so obvious spots, but this one didn't reveal itself! It was still worth the walk though, we have been here several times before.
We embarked on the journey with the hope of cache reward at the end but we searched high and low and frustratingly could not locate this one. after quite alot of time searching we headed back thankful for the beautiful scenic journey. hope to think we could revisit again but not until a successful find after us! Hope it's still there!
OMG! Platypus! Sir Kingsmen now admits that they are NOT mythical creatures! TNLeft US coin. TFTC!
By accident we took wrong road and end up in area not very far from lake which is totally devastated from logging. Scenery like from movie AVATAR. Track for tourist is excellent . Thanks
How much I enjoyed this cache!!! Found it at 1133hrs as 217th overall and second for the day. The trek in and out was great - the smell of damp bush, the tinkle of the stream by the track, the great flora display etc. Then the reflections on the lake were great!! A superb cache, as I had never been in before but will return. Thanks Malbena for a superb bushwalk. Thanks and cheers OldSaint.
Worked out that this was our seventh visit to the Duck Hole, all the other times was to bring in friends to show it off.
But our Grand son had never been in so thought it a good time to show it to him and grab a cache while at it.
Could not get over how many people had put an entery in the log to say how they had accidently found it, so when replacing have hidden it a little better so that you now have to look for it rather than just see it as you walk past.

What a fantastic walk. I would highly recomend this one if you are in the area, and if you are not get to the are so you can do this walk/cache. Found by GeoDaughter again!
I think next time we visit Tas, we'll just make it a GC tour.
Soooo many beautiful places, and most of them we wouldnt have seen, or not seen the same way without GC-ing.
And this one was no different!
We'd had lunch before we headed off to find this, and I wish we'd held off, and taken a picnic lunch with us. So pretty in the afternoon. Can only imagine how it would look in the morning light.
And GREEN! Wow, so used to everything being brown here, that I was in awe of the dense lushness of it all!!
Anyhoo, I found the cache first, but called out "wigglewaggle" cos I can never remember the proper FTF call out when in a group.
The kids knew what I meant at least :p Eventually we all found it, did the swaps and stopped for a bit, before meandering back.
Will take the picnic lunch next time!

What a marvellous waddle to a cache
The scenery was a blur of green as I sped along the wooden duck course
If you laid the boards of this duckwalk end to end they would stretch from Hastings to Southport [:o]
All good fun on a drizzly morning.
The duckhole is an interesting place. The calm surface reflecting the nearby peaks in it's tea coloured waters
TFTC and detour to this beaut spot.

Well we had a bit of rocky start taking two wrong turns before we found the start of the walking track. Nevertheless we had a thoroughly enjoyable walk on a girls day out. Sienna made the find and took the little phone, we left a rubby ducky as once again there were no ducks to be seen on the lake. Just as I was logging the find another walker came up the track and on the way out we met several other parties. Planned to leave photos on the sd card but it was incompatable with both our cameras. I will post our photos soon. TFTC.
This magic spot gets better each time I visit. Took Mrs P and Sam Carter and we were rewarded with a botanical feast - not only did we find one of my namesakes in flower (Prionotes cerinthoides), the endemic climbing heath (very early), but there was a Blandfordia (Christmas Bells) blooming as well. I could go on, it's a lovely rainforest location, but I won't. Thanks for the excuse to get us in there again, Malbina. TNLNSL.
This has long been one of my favourite places, and today's visit did not disappoint … plus this time I got a smiley for visiting! We saw one glorious bloom of Christmas Bells (Blandfordia) on the way (and I recall seeing just one the last time I was here, five years ago), plus I also spotted a very shy bettong, evidence of lyre birds, but no platypus probably because it was the wrong time of day. The cache was a bit exposed when we found it (and about half of the logs seemed to be from friendly muggles), and so we gave it a bit more camouflage on rehiding. (#502/527) TFBMH (thanks for bringing me here), Malbena.
hello all
My mum found this accidently while looking to take photos for her scrapbooking. We had never heard of it and now we`re keen members. We signed the log and took the dogs ball toy thing because there were 4 dogs with our group, but left 50c plus a small XD memory card with a photo of my kids at a great time of year plus a photo of our group. We left instructions hoping people will take a photo of themselves if they can so others can put the card in an XD friendly camera and do the same. We cant wait to go back at the same time next year and see ( if its not taken/stolen ) and see whos on it.

We saw a 60% platypus here! (At least, we're 60% sure it was a platypus.) And our first real live echidnas on the way back, the first of many in Tassie.
We were grateful for the hint on this one!

Very nice evening for this short walk.
The alternative for me would have been picking hay up out of the paddock, that can wait till tomorrow.
We all enjoyed the walk and the cache was found easily. Rebulus did repairs and we sat admiring the surroundings then headed back in diminishing light.
Thanks malbena

Today was a warm day, so walking to this cache in the evening meant that for gspblu, rebulus and I the temperature was perfect.
An easy walk and the lake itself was mesmerizing.
TFTC Malbena, took Little Monster TB
A place that I may not have ever seen if it wasn't for geocaching....hmm I wasn't going to say that

Now I understand why this walk is one of the "Best Short Walks". Impressive boardwalks to deal with larger numbers of people without too much damage to the environment and a stunning destination.
A great way to spend a Friday night with the "Team".
I replaced the lid of the cache container so now should stay dry.
Thanks Malbena for a great cache. TNLN

fantastic spot this!
big thanks for the cache as I would never have come down here otherwise!

container has a little hole in the top and is cracked, may need replacing soon!

Found this one while on holidays in the area. We thoroughly enjoyed the walk in and out. The container has dried out, but I placed it upside down once again. Thanks for showing us a great location. TNLN.
This is the second time we've been to this spot. It's a great walk in and a great place for lunch.
Removed partly dissolved easter egg and remains of fluffy chook that had fallen apart in the sodden container. We dried the container out and cleaned it with paper towell then replaced it upside down because the lid is cracked and has a hole in it.
Thanks for the cache.

The lid of the container is cracked and letting in water. The side has also cracked but has been repaired with tape some time ago. A bit of duct (duck) tape would fix it.
In the meantime replace the container upside down to minimise the chance of water getting in.

Found at 11.40am. Really enjoyed this one. A bit worried about being this remote, but the walk in and out was great. No entry fee and an easy find. Well worth the walk. 30 mins in. 30 mins out. TNLN.
Not sure what previous cacher was on..or about..but easily found and on an extremely well built track to boot...also definitely don't need to pay..as it's S/Forest.Hats off to FT for brilliantly constructed track. The Duck Hole..is a sinkhole by the looks of it..as it's identical to Lake Chisolm in the NW.Forests here are identical to much of the South Arthur forest where I spent so much of my working life.Great walk and excellent cache.Top stuff Malbena. TNLNSL Cheers.
Found the Rd.
Found the track.
Did't find the cache.
Didn't realise there would be a 1hour round trip treck to get to GZ and didn't ralise that we would have to pay to enter the area.

Great location,Perfect reflections, NO ducks though,TN/left warhammer orc, Thanks again Malbena
It sure is a very enjoyable short walk. We didn't have much daylight left, so it was good that we found the cache soon enough.
tn, left Little Miss Somersault
Thanks for taking us here, finding and following the road in was fun too.

Awesome location, great cache. Good day trip from Hobart, found this one and Dead South.
Cheers!

Wow! Tassie turned on some winter weather, but we were undeterred by the rain, cloud and cold. The walk was easy and we thoroughly enjoyed it, without leaches. Clues by Malbena were excellent and lead us right to the cache, which was in tact. Another great spot for the interstate visitors. Thanx Malbena.
This one has been on Snuva’s ‘to-do’ list ever since we spent a bit too much time looking for ‘The End of the Road’ last May. So when the HandsomeMan had a caving trip in the area, the female slave and I took this opportunity to get to think cache – twice! First time we did the walk it was pelting down with rain which only broke briefly whilst we were at the actual cache site. After retuning to the cacheMobile and having a spot of lunch, the sun came out and we decided to do the walk again! What a fantastic cache, Malbena!!!
What a great cache!!! Beautiful forest, mossy creek running alongside for most of the walk, interesting fungi, nice level stroll, stunning mountains looming up in the distance, lots of reptilian wildlife running for their poor small lives from the dreaded humans, and a magical lake at the end. The only other things you could ask for is fairies playing in the undergrowth and a lovely waterfall, but one cant have it all I suppose !
We loved this cache. Pity about the vandalism on the way in. The lake was still heavily stocked with tadpoles and black fish though which was a relief.
Took little pegs, left searchlight keyring. Thank you so much for this one Malbena, it was brilliant!

A beautiful spot - a pity about the scenery on the drive in! Nice walk on a sunny day. Took padlock, left evil looking Disney character. SL.
A fantastic walk that was already programmed into the Team Rathard Grand Tassie Tour before I discovered the cache was in place. Spent some time searching difficult and remote locations as the Ficklelites were missing in action. As we about to give up I had a look in the simplest and most obvious spot – doh!
Excellent walk, thanks Malbena. Pretty little mushrooms as well. The natives must have been hungry.
The Southerly Buster continues. An incredible walk, well worth it. Thanks Malbena, how did you find this one? Appears to be parts of an abandoned tramway here. Cache was still under stump, but contents were not in the container. The rubbers had been eaten, remains returned to Malbena. Something with sharp nails had a very determined attempt at getting in. Left easter chickens, happy easter. Replaced cache upside down, hoping the animals can't upen the clips now. Followed by an exilerating drive on some good dirt roads.
1600. Pleasant walk into GZ with a few photos taken on the way. Southerly Buster tour continues, with Team Tweeti taking lead on this one.
Did the hint thing and a pace is 60cm not 75cm. Anyway, Orac got FTF with contents strewn by critters.
Figured there was a railway or tramway into the area as evidence was found on the way out (hadn't noticed on the way in).
Thanks Malbena, another Southerly Buster on this cache as well.
