Since this cache won't be maintained within the presribed time frame of "a few weeks" mentioned in the listing guidelines, I'm going to have to archive it.

Cache Listing Guidelines

Cache Maintenance
...As the cache owner, you are also responsible for physically checking your cache periodically, and especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.). You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to hunt for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable time – [red]normally a few weeks[/red] – in which to arrange a visit to your cache. In the event that a cache is not being properly maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an extended period of time, we may archive [s]or transfer the listing.[/s]

I would suggest that if you cannot fix a cache in this area within a reasonable time frame, that shows that you can't really maintain the placement of this cache.

Also from the maintenance guidelines linked above:
It may be difficult to fulfill your maintenance obligations if you place a cache while traveling on vacation or otherwise outside of your normal caching area. These caches may not be published unless you are able to demonstrate an acceptable maintenance plan. It is not uncommon for caches to go missing, areas to be cleared, trails to be blocked or closed, objects used for multi-cache or puzzles to be moved or removed, etc. Your maintenance plan must allow for a quick response to reported problems.

The territory in which a geocacher is able to maintain caches responsibly will vary from one person to the next. An active geocacher who regularly visits areas hundreds of miles apart can demonstrate their ability to maintain a cache 100 miles from home. A geocacher whose previous finds and hides are all within 25 miles of their home would likely not see their cache published if placed 250 miles away from their home.

Hi sorry but I am not going to be back until the end of 09 so if you want to scrap it that's fine, I will look at placing a new one around the area when i get back if someone hasn't done it already.

Due to the last log of this cache I have no choice but to disable this cache Sad As I am living in Scotland now and not due back until the end of 2009 it may be awhile before this cache is restored. Sorry.

A nice day for a walk on the beach but no caching to be done! Mt Cass Walkway is closed til Oc1.
Mac's beach cache has either been washed away or burried under the tonnes of mud which has slid down the hill recently & changed the whole coastline around this area! Only a few of the flax bushes are visible above mud level. All nearby creek beds are similarly affected. Some of the Tirimoana Walkway signs have been washed downstream to the coast. The upside will be more fossils exposed.

yeah we found this cache together with the secret seven. Great spot. In total 9 kiddies who raided the cache, but we put a few extra bits in the cache. It was a beautifull afternoon and some of us did some fossiling others where swimming. Kids found heaps of crabs and shells. Yes the hill well it was a bit steep.

Found easily at approx 5.30pm. A beautiful warm was blowing. The farmer was having a big chat with my partner as I came back carrying the cache. He was interested to see what sorts of goodies were inside. He was aware there was a cache but did not know where. Good workout for the legs on the way back to car, especially when we cut straight up the hill instead of following the track.
- Xmas decoration
+ Collectable car from Shell (Ferrari)

Bit of a detour off the main road, more than I anticipated. Got to the end of the road and decided no point turning back now so did the walk to the beach and cache found without any difficulty. Nice beach and a pretty impressive backdrop.
No swaps, many thanks.

Strolled down the paddock, and ended up having a good yarn with the local farmer. Introduced him to geocaching, and he told me about his cars. Carried on down to the lovely beach and soon found the cache. You certainly wouldn't want to take the direct route! A very hot day to be climbing back up the hill. Great wee cache! Called in here on the way past to Kaikoura for a fishing trip. Great drive into the cache Smile When I saw the terrain rating of 4 I was expecting quite a tramp into the cache, but was pleasently surprised to find it mostly an easy stroll across the farm, then down a dry track to the beach (T3 max). Got close to GZ and saw pretty much where the cache would be hidden, found it in only a couple of minutes. I wouldn't worry about the location of the cache too much seeing as it's been there quite a while now, But I would definitely recommend checking the tides before attempting this cache! Did I mention what a fantastic wee private beach [^]. Many Thanks 2wild1's

+ Camping can opener (in keeping with the original contents)

Sheesh! I am a tiger for punishment.

Having earlier made rather hard work, in the heat, of the last day's walk (12+ kms) of the Kaikoura Coast Track I was silly enough to go and try for this cache. At least it had clouded over a little.

I was not sure which gate to try but the farmer was working in the woolshed yard, not far away.

As I walked up the road a gate opened and a mob of sheep came rushing down the road. Suddenly they all came to a screeching halt, and the farmer, who could not see me, yelled at his dogs to hurry them up. So I beat a hasty retreat to the car and eventually the sheep moved on past.

Having been reassured about the gate being the correct one I set off at the jog, as my better half had wisely waited in the car. Needless to say I did not do any jogging on the return trip.

An easy find once I got there, but no so easy a return.

Absolutely perfect A1+++ weather for a visit to Mac's Beach. The Team of 10 decended on the normally quiet spot.
Found no problem.
Find of the day was a shell fossil by one of the youngest of the team (- a must see, picture attached).
Wide Mouth Frog TB came along for a visit and was used as a practise find for the younger team members.
We raided the cache - as you can imagine with 7 kids
- bracelet, and hair tie
+ little candle and glass stone "pressies" plus a shell key ring

Wide Mouthed Frog TB had a short visit to Mac's Beach for the afternoon.

Here he was well looked after by 7 kids and as a result probably needs to have his dog tag stitched on more securely by the next owners. The kids had a lot of fun and practised their gps skills with him in the tussocks and sand.

OK, I drove to the end of the road, and checked at the house for the correct route, and started walking over the paddocks on a lovely sunny morning with a cool sea breeze. Then along comes a farmer on a quadbike - and he offered me a ride!! So he took me almost right down to the beach - some people have all the luck, don't they??? The track was dry, the beach was deserted except for a few wheeling seagulls, the cliffs were impressive, but the sea was a bit chilly for a swim. Coords were spot on, and it was an easy find, thanks. Might be a bit tricky during a Spring tide, as the sea washes right up to the foot of the cliffs. Best bet is not to turn on your GPS until you reach the beach. The walk back up was just what I needed. No swaps, cheers from Grandalf.

We enjoyed the great views on the way to this cache. Even the sun was out. Unfortunately it clouded over once we reached the beach and coverage was poor (30m accuracy) so it took us some time to find the cache. We'll come back to this lovely beach in summer... Thanks for leading us here!
- nothing, + smily magnet

Lovely morning for a walk along the beach. Just as well I didn't come yesterday afternoon, as I had planned, for I did not read the caution note until I looked at my PDA when I arrived at the beach. Red Face No sun at the cache site as it is in full winter shade all day. + puzzle. - deck of small cards. Thanks 2wild1's. Cheers.

What a lovely beach. Have been wanting to have a look at this part of the coast for a long time, and was so nice to find out you can walk to it. Thanks 2wild1's.
Had to wait for a muggle family that seem to be looking for fossils in the cliff.
A first find for Evelyn.
- cards + toy plane

We were hoping something would come up today so when we saw this we were keen to get on the road. We took Mum for a drive to the end of the road but there was no way she could go any further so she waited at the car. The way in was very muddy and slippery and we were just happy that we managed to stay upright. What an amazing stretch of beach when you get there! The high, sheer cliffs all around are quite amazing too. This was a good cache - the GPS was bang on. Thanks for taking us to yet another new place with interesting features.
+ tiger pencil end - lock & Key
