We stopped to look for this cache but there is a locked gate across the track so it is not accessible.
Headed south today with Jack, Sebastbat, and Purrfect Di. Had a great day.
All under the Team Mattycat stamp today - the others may get around to logging eventually [:o)]
Back in our 4wd had to give it a spin in some sandy tracks too
(Even drove past an event two hours after it had ended without even realising it was on )
Accessed from the Netherton cache to the north, was a fun trip getting here!
An interesting location with a bit of history.
Thanks for the cache smiley -Beaker-
Be safe caching. Cover your cough. Sanitise !!!

jafaz62 & I ventured out for a pleasant day caching...detoured to Sherlock then Coonalpyn and beyond...
After completing the Sherlock series, 2 ROTF caches I had left to find, it was time to decide if we had time to take the detour to the couple of caches out here on our way to Coonalpyn for this afternoons event...the GPS said we did so off we went...
We hoped the finds were quick and this one was found relatively quickly...
Interesting place...I have a feeling I have been here before and found this cache as I had a descriptive note on it...oh well, name in the book and smiley obtained...

Need to dodge the bees at the windmill
Need to dodge the bees at the windmill
This weekend, I headed to the Limestone Coast / south-east primarily for some cave diving, but also to fill in extra time visiting new places and geocaching. It was only an overnight trip, and so was rather jam-packed. I drove via Keith and Naracoorte to scuba dive Little Blue Lake on Saturday, followed by a visit to Port MacDonnell's west and night caching around Mount Burr. Sunday had me do another cave dive followed by geocaching around Mount Burr and Millicent, and then on to visiting Rendelsham and Southend, before driving back via Kingston and the Coorong. A weekend of mixed weather.
Today, I got up early to try to arrive at Mount Gambier by lunch. A few random detours were made around Kiki and Naracoorte, including a conveniently timed published cache nearby to Naracoorte Caves. Following my scuba dive in the early afternoon, I visited the area around Cape Northumberland Lighthouse and Surfers Way, just west of Port MacDonnell. Some interesting and nicely themed caches had been published in the last few months. Following a Millicent pub dinner, we night cached around Mount Burr, before I needed to get back to Glencoe to prepare for the next day.
I drove an interesting sandy 4WD track coming from Netherton in order to get to this location. A little soft, but no signiciant dramas. I decided to park my car at this reserve's gate, and then went bush bashing trying to find the cache via the direct route. The scrub wasn't too bad, but it was only until I found it, that I saw the better way along the track and back to the main fenced gate. I had a little trouble in finding the cache with likely bouncing coordinates due to the trees, but eventually made the find. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Only a small sized container, not a regular? Thanks Beaker's Bunch aka. [@-Beaker-](http://coord.info/PRN1VJ) for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance. This was a really cool spot that I enjoyed visiting. According to the website, this cache hadn't been found since 22/04/2019, with 495 days [16.3 months / 1.36 years] of unfound love, however, there appears to be a Geocacher visitor in July 2020? Yet to log perhaps?

It was a glorious Autumn Day and so Anymules and I decided it was time to make the trip through Ngarkat Conservation Park to collect the caches there and in the towns surrounding it. Except for a couple of campers at Buck's we had the whole park to ourselves and didn't see another vehicle! [^]
Heading home we took a very circuitous route to grab a few out of the way caches. This was however worth the detour to come to a place I would never have known existed except for caching. [^] Very interesting spot. The cache was a quick find. The bees are still here and the honeycomb is visible hanging from the entrance to the Tauragat.

19.10.18 tftc thought I recognised this area , found this awhile ago and thought I had logged it, not sure why it came up as not found yet, so resigned log
Day 3 of our caching trip in this area and after spending the night in a cabin and having a great breakfast we set out to find as many as off the beaten track as we could. This is one cool location to be bought to and there are heaps of bees making nests in the caged area which is great to see as we need more bees. TFTC
Parked at the gate and walked in. I'm glad I wore long pants in here because the final 50m was through tall grass and it was a warm day. I was surprised to see the infrastructure here, one of those places that wouldn't be known if it wasn't for caching. Very enjoyable, thanks Beaker.
What a nice place for a geocache, there's even a picnic table provided. It seems the bees have a permanent residency in the well itself, but they didn't bother us in finding this cache.
It's alway nice to find a cache hidden before we discovered the game, and even better to find an older hide that's still maintained. Well done!
Thanks -Beaker-.

What a surprise this place was . If not for caching, who would know [?].
The facilities were closed, but there's probably water in the well, as the bees have built their hive right above it .
TNLNSL.
This place would make a great camp spot (although it could get a bit snakey) [^][xx(].
Thanks for bringing us here Beaker's Bunch.

It was raining steadily as we arrived at GZ. We were thankful that the cache was found after a short search. The cache and contents were in a good condition. Thanks -Beaker- for the cache.
Found It!

Spending the weekend back in the town of Mrs Hawkeye's birth and doing a few trips down memory lane. Mrs H spent time here as a kid, always being warned by her mum of the bees in the well. Worth checking the huge honeycomb formations in the well. Found the original and replacement container. [email protected] TNLN TFTC
On my list to do for some time but never headed down this road. We decided we would work our way home on the back roads for something different tonight. Great plaque highlighting the history here SL TFTC
Found on a day out with CPwanderer and clare007.
Poor old windmill sounded like it was in pain on this windy day.
Nice piece of history in a place I wouldn't have found without the cache.
Saw where the bees had been in the well.
Original container is broken and someone has placed a smaller container here that doesn't fit the contents from the bigger container. A bit of maintenance might be required. Added some extra camo as it was a little exposed.
TFTC Beaker!

Out with CPWanderer & Gizmo's Gang.
CP offered to stop for us to grab the cache.
The gate was already open, so we drove through.
The poor windmill has seen better days, and sounded like it was being tortured.
Best to come on a cooler day, the grass is getting quite high.
Thanks for the history & the cache Beaker gang.

The original container is nearly non existent. A cacher has placed a smaller container at GZ.
An interesting place to stop. We did wonder if there was any water in the concrete holding tank? It is a shame that people have found it necessary to shoot up the windmill, where is the sense in that. SL TFTC
Stopped for a few days at Keith, today we headed out to explore. Some amazing sights around the area and a great town. Wow what an interesting place. Took some photos.

Day 4 of the Oz Mega Event, and I was heading for an overnight stay in Bordertown. The day included a few caches around Murray Bridge, the Lost Wanderers series, and some of the Wandering Heroes caches that had arisen since I last cleaned it out. And then there were some more down to Coonalpyn. Sorry for the generic logs - there were just too many to log individually. My thanks to -Beaker- for the cache.
Oh I do love the places geocaching takes me [:X]
Tauragat is a fabulous destination !!
I parked the geomobile at the gate and climbed over the fence.
Yes !! I know how these 'gates' work, but they are a pain in the neck to close again
From there it was a very pleasant and quiet bushland stroll past the water trough to the well
Why is the trough so long !!
Must have had thousands of sheep here !!
No trace of any livestock these days, just a quiet patch of regrown mallee.
The well is a sight to behold, and yes ... there is water at the bottom ... way out of sight
Then it was just a short stroll to GZ and a nice easy cache find [^]
TFTC and diversion, well away from the highway

Out for the day with Trail06 to do a dit of 4wd training and then some caching.
We did a bit of sand dune driving and then made a slight detour to pick up the cache Jupiter.
We had fun getting through the gate.
We weren't sure if it was a drive by but as there a picnic table there I assume it was OK to drive there.
The bees kept us well away from the well.

Found it on our way home from Peake 4WD weekend with my geo/4WD/fishing pal and all round good guy "How Do They Know?". Thanks BB.
We approached from the NW along a really sandy rough track from Peake - loved it! Eventually got onto the graded road and came across this cache soon after. Very interesting spot to drive in and have a lunch break. We actually walked in from the roadside but I would suggest dallying here a while over a cuppa or three! There is even a picnic table under the trees. TFTC Beakers Bunch. A favourite point from me. I'd give you a second one if I could due to the drive to the cache!
We visited the bee's cache and stole some of their swag.. hehehe. They were most unimpressed! Would have loved to have seen this in action. The bees have taken over the toilet on the left too. They have sealed the toilet seat down with wax. Could be a nasty suprise at night if you managed to get it open. Lookout!
Found no worries. Great place for a cache. Gate was opened as the council are working on the road and using the site as a base. Thx Beaker's Bunch you always amaze us with your caches.
Rocky Glen Grommets stayed way clear of the angry bees, retrieved the cache and disappeared -an interesting historical spot.
Great cache and a really interesting site to visit. Beware the angry toilet!
A warning - bees are very plentiful. One hive is located in the windmill - don't go near.
Another hive is in a tree and because of the wind it had blown onto the ground and the bees were very angry. We back-pedaled, found the cache and scarpered.

Found this cache during the Coonalpyn Event held as part of the Coonalpyn Centenary celebrations.
One of the legs of the Coonalpyn Event multi-cache took us to the well.
I arrived at the same time as 2 other teams and we were greeted by a local Coonalpyn person who was at the well to explain it and talk about its history as part of the Coonalpyn History Trail. He was amazed to hear about geocaching and to realise that there was a geocache hidden near the well. He also was amazed that there are active geocachers in Coonalpyn and that there was a geocaching event built into the Centenary celebrations. He didn't recognise the name of the organisor of Coonalpyn geocaching event and as I found out later, even though Dalekerrigan sounds like a real name it is a caching name that bears no resembalance to his real name.
Having come from Hindmarsh Island in the morning the 2 geo dogs were pleased to get out of the car and have a good run around here. There were also patted a lot by the geo-kids in the other teams who were at the cache with us.
The cache was retrieved easily without the muggle guide being aware of its exact hiding location.
Took nothing, signed the logook.
Left a geocoin that I had in my possession
Visited through my geocoins
Left a mundoo pathtag
Thank you for placing a cache at such an interesting spot. I lived in Coonalpyn for 4 years in the 1980's and never was aware of this spot.

That is a serious beehive in the well. There was second one developing in a tree nearer to GZ. Honey, I love your work.
Detoured slightly off the track from the Coonalpyn Show. Very nice spot, much appreciated. Very hot here today. Dropped off a yellow bear, took a truck. Thanks for the cache Beaker's Bunch.

Found by Mary & David at 1325. This cache shows one of the reasons we love caching - a historic spot miles from anywhere that we wouldn't have known about otherwise. The bees were pretty active despite the recent rain, but we kept out of their way and they didn't bother us. A fascinating place with the most amazing bird life. Took Japanese pencil-top doll, left Gardena key chain. The old farmer drove up as we were preparing to leave so we chatted for a while. He's been cleaning up the site a bit and was very happy with the rain. Our thanks to Beaker's Bunch.
Pulled up, went through gate but obviously I had too many dumb pills and not enough weet-bix as it took about five minutes to shut the gate.Pulled up at GZ and even in this weather we noticed that the bees were very active around the attraction.Fortunately the cache was hidden a safe distance away resulting in a quick, easy, painless find

The bee hive was impressive. Cows were still very much active in the area.
We were starting to get stiff and sore so drove straight home from here.

Chose what we thought would be the better ways to access the cache as we had the geocaravan in tow. Found the cache easily and somehow missed the bees on the way in. On the way out spotted the hive and B had to have a close look. Very close actually and even had to inspect the wax from the hive. Bees not impressed and as we walked off one stung him on the back of the head. Ended up with a welt about the size of a 10c piece but otherwise OK! Took star and left golfball. Thanks Beakers Bunch.
A number of different ways to attack this one. I chose the wrong one (initially). Got to meet Jeff, a local with a 4WD and a white tray top, and his Rolf Harris wobbling board. But that’s another story. Nice bloke if you visit 35° 32.922S, 139° 57.325E.
Eventually got to GZ – and this was certainly worth it. I agree with Mr Fun that it would be a great place to camp. Even a nice BBQ and table there. The BBQ needs work, but betta than nothing.
The structure, pictured, surely is unique in these parts.
The bees are still there- plenty of honey. No problems like GCMYWW though .
I left a truck and took a magnetic dancing key ring.
Thanks again Beaker’s Bunch.

Was very surprised to discover I was FTF on this one. I saw it come up some time ago & expected it to be picked up quickly. Great little spot. It would be good to camp here, nice & peacful. The bees residence is interesting as well! Took the duck & left a levitating super hero keyring. Cheers.
