We are visiting New Zealand and have been stunned by its beauty. This cache was AMAZING! The rock formations are so unique. The blowhole is fun. Be sure to find Te Puha Pah (sudden sound) on the short trail that connects the loops. It was super cool. Tftc!

Hello Trigger_Fish,Another day, another Cache.Together with Dr Donna travelling through New Zealand. We arrived at Auckland Airport and made our way up north. After visiting Cape Reinga we went on our way South to reach Stewart Island with stops in many different Citys all over the country. Of course we have an open eye for nice Caches but take what we can get. Today we came across your Cache "Punakaiki Pancakes Earthcache" and signed the logbook with our names or took pictures for Virtuals or Earthcaches and answered all questions asked. Its great how many nice spots we are able to discover through our journey and how many of them we only See because of Geocaching! Thanks for bringing us to this place and takeing care for the geocache. Liebe Gre und vielen Dank fr die Hege und Pflege deines Earthcache! -moge-#############Der Cache "Punakaiki Pancakes Earthcache" von "Trigger_Fish" war fr mich Cache 6775. I flew into Christchurch a couple of days ago for a 3-week bucket list road trip around South Island, and today, I made my way across the Alps to the West Coast, ending up here in Punakaiki for the night.Punakaiki was a must stop place on my NZ journey, and I enjoyed the stunning views and learning about the pancake formations here. Thanks very much for creating this earthcache ... it helped me to better understand how they are formed. A wonderful end to a great travel day, so a fave point is awarded by way of thanks.

A beautiful sunny day. Great day for pancakes.

11-Nov-24
To explore the island today we are going from the east coast to the west coast. We drive over the Arthur Pass through very varied landscapes. Sometimes the valley is narrow, sometimes it is wide. Then again we drive along a wide river delta. We see bare mountain slopes and then again forested mountains. So our tour is never boring. We choose a few caches along the way to search for and log.Earthcaches, labcaches and virtuals are also popular. What for an great Landscape. Something so unique and the power of the water and the waves, we couldn't get enough of it. Simply fantastic. We give an Favoritenpoint. A big thank you to all owners and greetings from the Moorhelmi

On secondment to Melbourne, Australia, combined with short holidays here and there. Smile From day 49/74, I was accompanied by my dear son, geocacher Ruupertti, who travelled from Finland to visit me in Australia and to spend a holiday with me in New Zealand at the end of my secondment. Day 68/74, Friday. Finally time for our holiday in the beautiful New Zealand, day 4/7! Smile Today was an awesome day! Today we enjoyed the beautiful West Coast. We drove from Charleston to Fox Glacier. We saw some things we will never forget - such as the Seal Colony Tauranga Bay and the Pancake Rocks and Blowholes in Punakaiki. I just LOVE New Zealand! Smile This was one of the most stunning places I have ever seen, although I have seen a lot. Definitely a favorite point from me. It was high tide when we visited the site - obviously a good time to visit especially for the blowholes. We loved the pancakes! Smile I sent the answers to the CO and I attach a photo. Thanks for the cache and greetings from Vaasa, Finland! SmileLogged with [GCDroid](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gcdroid).

On our thirteenth day in New Zealand we drive from Picton Tasman. This beautiful cache was on our way.TFTCHennesAt the end comes the poem of the day.New Zealand By James K. Baxter (for Monte Holcroft)These unshaped islands, on the sawyers bench,Wait for the chisel of the mind,Green canyons to the south, immense and passive,Penetrated rarely, seeded onlyBy the deer-cullers shot, or else in the northTribes of the shark and the octopus,Mangroves, black hair on a boxers hand. The founding fathers with their guns and bibles,Botanist, whaler, added bones and namesTo the land, to us a bridleAs if the id were a horse: the swampy townsLike dreamers that struggle to wake,Longing for the poets truthAnd the lovers pride. **Log about this cache:**The highlight of today. So nice the pancakerocks and big waves!**General log:**After years of planning and the canceling of trip due to the corona crisis, the time had finally come:***"more than 5 weeks in New Zealand".***And how beautiful it was!Visited both the north and south islands, many tourist attractions have a cache nearby so I could do some as well.Lots of virtuals and earth caches too and traditionals. But also done a few multi caches here and there also even a mystery and wherigo cache. The trip to New Zealand was great and we saw a lot of nice places. The country has so many different types of landscapes. And the nice thing was that it is winter in the Netherlands but summer in New Zealand SmileToo bad it takes so long to fly and that the flight is so expensive otherwise i can go here next year again. Now you can enjoy it, logging the caches is also part of it. I will try to email the answers for the earthcaches and virtual caches to the relevant co`s as soon as possible. But first log all caches and upload the photos .Submitted via Garmin Live Geocaching

Today we went up the west coast from Haast to Murchison with stops at Franz-Josef Glacier and Pancake Rocks. This area is really amazing! This was going to be one Long day, as we headed to Hokitika Gorge first in the morning. Which was really a detour, but the pics and information was convincing to do that. And, well, it definitely was worth it! Great Walk there! Late morning, we left as more and more people arrived and had obviously the same idea. Great timing. Then we headed further north and as a short stop visited a memorial. A nice suprise was the spectacular view and a little traditional Cache (Memorial Makeover (West Coast), GC46EV6). But before we came to our final accomodation, we stopped at Punukaiki and the famous Pancake Rocks. A Long, but beautiful day with lots of interesting geocaches.Thank you to all CO for their effort and passion.TFTC and greetings from Germanyaussi96

I am with Muggle on a three and half week trip to NZ. Nothing serious, just the well trodden track every NZ tourist does who is coming from the other side of the world and has not the chance to come here more often. North Island is done, Auckland Coromandel, Rotorua and Wellington touched. We arrived in Picton and transfered to Motueka. Next stop was Punakaiki. Last time I was here (20 years ago) we only got off the bus to look for pancakes about 20 minutes. This time it is a 2 nights stay. Hydrangeas gave us shelter.Looks like as if they are going to develop this place further. However, even without pancakes the beach walk, a paddle experience and some walks make a fine vacation at this place.1st day was, of course, reserved for the pancakes. The coffee at cafe opposite to the entrance was good. And so much to see. Interesting who drops by to have a view at the cakes. After the caffeine booster the fenced in walk was scheduled.Thx for hiding.

Santagrandpa sent th answers to the earth cache to the CO. He told Santagrandma that he appreciated the pancakes rocks more because of doing the earth cache. Another thing was how unique they are and can only be seen in a few places in the world. A favorite point is being added to the collection and TFTC. BYW, we are from Florida and sadly we are leaving in a couple of days. It has been a FANTASTIC and AMAZING time in New Zealand.

After years on our bucket list and three cancellations due to Covid, we are thrilled to finally be here. Following several cruises we flew from Sydney, Australia to Wellington, New Zealand to begin our next adventure. Picked up our rental vehicle and will be driving, exploring, hiking, and caching both islands for 3.5 weeks. This park was one of our highlights along today's route. As we pulled into the parking lot it started pouring. There was no way we were going to miss seeing this park and since it wasn't lightening, we were going no matter what. We waited in the car till it slowed down a little before grabbing the umbrellas and hitting the trail. Wow, these are unique, interesting, and amazing formations even in a steady rain. We gathered the needed information, took many pictures, and worked through the adventure lab series. Our answers have been sent via the message system and we appreciate the CO developing this geological lesson that definitely earns a blue ribbon from us. Thanks for adding to our adventure today, Nukeworker and Racquetball Girl, Arkansas, USA

25/9/2023 Find #6613Day 17 of the Fangsoki/1MinnieMoo New Zealand South Island adventure. Todays journey would take us from Hokitika to Nelson. A lot of driving to be done, so we picked only a select few caches. I made sure this one went on the list, and I am so glad I did!!This is what earthcaches are all about!A beautiful walk, and fantastic weather to complement it at that. And such a fantastic and different geological location. Despite the serious attraction the place is, it was not overcrowded along the walk, and people mostly went in one direction, so there was no clogging up of human traffic. I cant speak for Fangsoki but I can say I came away from this very glad for the visit. Thanks for the cache Trigger_Fish. A favourite point from me.

26-days-holiday to Singapore, New Zealand & AustraliaDay 9: Punakaiki Hokitika Franz-JosefFirst, we went to see the Pancake Rocks as well as the Blowholes at Punakaiki. Then we drove over to Hokitika where could spend some time. In the afternoon we headed on towards Franz-Josef where we visited the glacier. We did not visit the Pancake Rocks & Blowholes the previous day due to the bad weather as well as upcoming darkness. In the morning, it was still raining plus some stronger wind not the best conditions to walk around at Punakaiki. Nevertheless we still did it and at least in the area with the bushes and trees it was bearable. Furthermore, the layered rocks are a very interesting thing to see. The site is worth the visit anyway. Thanks for guiding me here and the additional gained piece of knowledge.

Thank you very much for placing the earth cache (and apologies that the email went multiple times due to dodgy signal). We came out here the night before in a failed attempt to see what they'd be like at night (got a bit confused on the paths and decided to just go back to the car) but took a photo of the stars which were amazing. Went back in the day as was planned (and sensible) and saw them and the blowhole working. Tftc

Found during a road trip of both North and South Islands. We hired a little buzzbox and drove from top tip Cape Reinga all the way to Bluff at the bottom, and everywhere in between. Not sure what lured us to Greymouth to begin with, but Punakaiki was an added bonus, and made the journey here very worth the while. Like everything in NZ it was simply stunning (even if it did rain 90% of the time Smile Embedded in our memory is also that this location has a cafe that makes the WORST coffee in the entire world (and I have travelled extensively), but even that didn't dampen our experience here. NZ was the first overseas trip that hubby and I took together and was the most amazing 6 weeks ever. I loved showing him where I was born and raised, and also sharing new experiences with him. I had never been to the South Island before! Thanks so much for the earth cache here, it was the perfect type for this GZ.
