Down from Whangarei to visit family for a few days and most importantly, to meet our new grand daughter. It is also an opportunity to grab some caches, especially as I have none within 50 km from home that I haven't already found...Lovely weather this morning, albiet a bit cool and windy, but ideal to go for a walk somewhere with a bit of elevation involved. Walking on the flat is nice, but it doesn't give the same workout value as some decent hills.A busy wee track this morning, although the locals insisted it was actually a quiet day, compared to weekends. A nice quick find of this great little HIPSter cache - my favourite sort. Gets a FP from me. TFTC
Focussing on the virtual cache further up the hill, I did not notice I was passing this cache but I did become aware of it as I was returning. There had been plenty of other walkers around but it was all quiet when I wanted to have the place to myself. All good here; a very nicely done hide.
This is neat hide! Came from Morgan's walk, and felt a bit dodgy climbing the gate - it's a public track joining a public track, why do they keep it gated off?! Tftc
We came to this cache from Morgans Walk, so a bit of a different route to many others. Spotted it quite quickly as I had seen others of this type before and thought that might be what I was looking for. Nice hide, thanks for the cache. Had a lovely day out walking today, beautiful weather and a lot of fun.
We are all the way down here in NZ to support our daughter at a sporting competition. And we are making the most of our time to check out the beautiful city of Christchurch and grab some Southern hemisphere caches! The cache was good but just a warning that there is rather a lot of dog poo near gz.
Loved the hide but alas we left our pen in the car and the kids were over the walk to go back and get it. Maybe one day well come back and sign it!
While waiting for the Gondola to open we took a short walk to discover the cache. We found it quickly. Thank you !P.S. logbook is full
Very cute wee cache!Saw a scared Kingfisher on the power lines on the way up!
Spotted a good GZ on approach and there it was. There were also resident creepy crawlies as well. Log signed and returned as found.
On our way back down the path managed to quickly retrieve this clever hide in between all the passing muggles. TFTC
Cache 1422 ️ Heading to Christchurch for a geocaching holiday this week where I’m targeting hidden days/months and a few D/T and to sign challenge caches. And as many virtuals as possible. This was a needed Hidden month. Spotted quickly but sat at GZ while I waited for a massive group of hikers that were heading up the hill, snaffled signed replaced before the next big group PHEW I was going to head uphill for the virtual but after a lot of hills yesterday I changed my mind, this bit was steep enough for me today cache in great shape T4TC ️
Sadly, I had to evict a surprising number of roly-polys from the outer container.
A nice oldie to begin my walk up. It’s strange - I’ve lived in Christchurch for over 5 years and this is my first time up Bridle.

A nice find at the end of our walk over and back the Bridle Track. Missed any others we passed but got this one. A good hide.

A quick easy find on my way up to the nearby virtual on an evening walk with my partner.
Good hint and Geoexperience led me straight to it

Found on my first caching expedition with Mr Cuddly Brick. Beautiful last day of the year! Tftc.
Found with NZDi. We came down to Christchurch to pick up our new caravan tomorrow. Many geocaching adventures to be had in that. We picked up the caravan yesterday and were spending a couple of days in a local holiday park to get used to the systems with local support from the dealer in case there were any questions.
With a bit of time to spare, we decided to do the Bridle Path Track in preparation for the Everest Challenge which starts next week back home in Marlborough and also get a few caches along the way. We missed this one on the way up, but not on the way down. No trouble finding this one and it was nice to see something more than a Sistema click clack or Eclipse Mint Tin for a container, so a FP from me.

Very crafty hide, made me laugh once I finally found it after probably far too long

We came for a walk today to try and find a multi we finally managed to solve. Lots of people out enjoying the lovely day here. When it was clear we had a look for the cache, wow very clever wee pigmy. Thanks for bringing us here and the cache Grandalf.
KR persuaded me to go out and this was a fun start with a great presentation plus several representatives of the Oniscidea sub order, (woodlice), who were reluctant to leave! On the pygmy theme, family history has it that Great Uncle Charlie Gow discovered the pygmy hippopotamus in Niger but the expedition leader I R P Heslop got the recognition. Probably nothing to be proud of as the team shot several hippos to bring home, knowing that they were rare. Tftc
Jeebers...ANOTHER great ChCh day to get some in and keep the numbers ticking over .. Nice and easy. I've got a couple like this, so pretty much knew what I was after, and there it was. Cheers
We walked the Bridle Path today from Lyttelton to Heathcote. Such a great historical walk, can't believe it has taken me so long to do! This was the last of 4 caches found along the walk. What a neat hide, TFTC!
One day I'll get all the way over on this path...... One day, just not today...... TFTC
A nice way to end an epic walk. A clever hide.
Thanks for hiding this cache Grandalf I appreciate it.

A quick jaunt out this way to find a few caches and a short sharp walk up to this cache. No problems locating it today. Thanks for the cache.

Second find for today on the way up to Summit road to gain elevation for the Everest challenge. Easy find and sign here before my fingers go numb. Replaced the correct way up.
We stopped here on the way to another walk behind Lyttelton, to get this cache which had been behind a fence on our last visit. Today it was an extremely quick find. TFTC!
Sorry, I forgot to post a note after passing by before Christmas. The works were not in this area at the time, and I uncovered the cache. Can check again relatively easily if that helps?
Seeing that a T3 approach along the fence line to a few potential Grandalf hide objects beyond the workings was possible, we checked that out. But no, GZ is indeed in the workings, and in fact is buried at present. The CO might want to check the cache when the work on the pipeline renewal is finished.
The track is under maintenance with a large trench in the middle, picture attached
Came up for a run with a friend...went lightweight and left my pen behind! Not typical of me and slightly annoying. So for now mine is a green smudge filling up a space, and next time we're back I'll be sure to bring a pen and sign it properly!
Thanks for the views on a gorgeous day, and for another smiley

Late afternoon so a quick look at a few caches here. Located this well hidden cache very quickly up on arrival. Nice one. Tftc
I have just moved over to the South Island from Australia. Hoping to live and explore the country over the next few years and find a lot of caches on the way. Cheers for the hides.
We were visiting Lyttelton Market and went for a walk around the area and then over the Bridal Path all the way back to Christchurch. This was a fun cache which i overlooked to start with but is right where it should be.

It's the first day of Spring, Father's Day and a beautiful day, so I was given a choice of what to do today. (Only today, I'm afraid) So my choice was to give Tama the geohound a decent day. He didn't get much of a day yesterday and all week he comes to work but spends the day tied up to the car on a running leash.
So we've come here for a bit of walk on the Bridle Path specifically to get Morgan's Walk to fill a hole in my Jasmer grid that's been bugging me for months.
This cache was on the way but while I don't need this date it is an old well favourited cache.
Pretty good hide. Worth a FP for the ingenuity of the hide and maintaining the cache for so long... over 14 years! Well done and TFTC

Cab165 needs to be credited with this one! Simple find that took us far too long, on a wander that I have taken too long to do since moving to Christchurch. TFTC
Found with Aslan who had found this one years ago and he didn’t give me any clues. Well done.
It's ages since I last was up here and I really ought to walk all the way up but I'm not going to! Thanks for the cache! Now I need to find a bigger cache to drop off a TB. #3456
On our 13th day in New Zealand we stayed in Christchurch. Our plan for today was to visit Lyttelton as we read in many of the books about New Zealand about the historical importance of it's harbour. The weather was not that great. It rained in the morning but during our trip it was dry but all grey in grey. We went up here to get this cache. After a short search we held the nicely done cache in our hands.

TFTC

In the area to grab some information for another cache, so it would have been rude not to try this cache. We had ago before the earthquakes and we were new to caching, so with a bit more experience this was a quick and easy find. TFTC
Okay - the cache is now back up and running. It was always there, but jammed in place due to various circumstances, and impossible to retrieve with your hands. No wonder there were a few DNFs. I've now shifted the outer container a very small 10cm, so it won't get jammed again.
Please note I've made some minor changes to the cache listing at this date.
Happy hunting

Thank you for the maintenance! Not sure when we can get back down from Auckland though... might be awhile!
Rustynz, Rebel98 and myself Gorby are Westies from Auckland. We regularly head away on cheap flights to here and there, this time we have flown to Christchurch for a another 3 day adventure of fun and caching. Today we have the company of Ivss_xx, ex Westy of Auckland now residing in colder climes here in ChCh.
We were heading to Morgan's Walk and thought we'd try this cache too, gave the area a good search and thought a certain piece of wood was the cache, but it couldn't be removed, so for a lack of other places to search, we moved on. Will keep this on the watchlist to see what happens next.

I got to GZ and saw the cache container with a geo trail heading up to it... damn not the cache. I wasn't walking up here for dnf. .. search and search I did and guess what... it was there just as the coords said it would be. Cheers, fave point it is.
I was surprised to see so many people on this walkway and even more so to see quite a few people slogging their way up a steep hillside in the distance. Had a wait it out for the way to be clear before making the quick find. Nice hide. TFTC # 11,760
Due to some reasons I had to stay for 6 days in Christchurch. In the end I was happy for this opportunity, started to like the city and had a lot of time for searching some caches.
Thank you to all the owner for hiding. Had a lot of fun! Sorry for the standard log, but I can't remember them in Detail.
Wish you all the best.

15.20.. tftc!! Nice hide.. a red black spider also liked the spot.. first time I've seen one in NZ.. scared it off
Over from the UK with my wife, parents and daughters to celebrate my 50th birthday. We are in NZ for Christmas with friends in Hawkes Bay.
Today we took the gondola up to the top to enjoy the view and then I walked down the bridal path with my eldest daughter. We stopped on the way down to search for this cache. It took a bit of searching but eventually I located the right spot. My daughter spotted a spider within the outer cache which scurried away. She thinks it was a red back. Log sheet is slightly damp but I was too able to sign it. TFTC

At last! 2 previous searches and today - - - straight to it. Unbelievable! Log needed a bit of attention, managed to sign it, but it could do with a 15 minute dry out in sun. TFTH and a fav.
After the previous DNFs, I wasn't terribly hopeful of finding this cache but I thought I would give it a go anyway. As it was, the cache was in the first place I looked. The log is a little damp but still writeable. TFTC.
