Lovely to pick up this oldie, going to have a look at the dam now its been a great trip.Tasmania trip 2024 with Kittykatch. Working to get all states and Territories in a year and counties. First visit to Tassie so excited to experience everything. Thanks for getting me out and about gridge98
Out for a drive in the trevallyn area knocking off some caches on map. TFTC found with geomum and paparock
Husband wanted to come and look at the dam, so we did. Found the info board about the eels here to be super interesting. Short walk to the cache which was found quickly. TFTC robtas/gridge98
Queenslanders heading up the east coast after completing the 3 Capes Walk.Having 2 nights in Launceston before flying home to rest the knees!Found after having lunch at the dam. Easy find and cache in good condition. Thanks gridge98 for the cache
Lovely location and easy find, great for something to do with the family while looking at the dam.
Tasmania Trip Day 12. This is my final day on the Tasmanian island. I have two counties left to do and went to visit the two old caches in the Launceston region before making my indirect way to Devonport. The short walks went smoothly and I found enough caches to finish my target of all the counties in Mainland Tasmania. Once I reached Devonport I took a chance to have something to eat and have a rest before lining up to get ion the boat. Not quite as well done here, but we made it. The crossing starts in the rock and roll, unlike the other way. I made it over without any upsetting issues and will head back to Canberra tomorrow. The area by this dam was my next area of interest with another old cache to find and a few more on walking trails near by.Thanks for the cache gridge9846117.7 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & 2010 Cache Tick A#172**Albida**
Nice quick find here while exploring the area. Our last few days here in Tassie and making the most of it. Tftc
In Tassie for the next few months. So many great places to visit and so many different caches to find. After picking up a FTF this morning, my main priority today was picking up the old hide and a few around this area. Had to expand our searh before finding this one. Thanks gridge98 for placing the cache and doing the maintenance needed, so we can find this cache.
This my last Geocaching trip away in Tazzie for 2023, i have plans to grab about 10-12 hides before checking into my accommodation at 14:00, having a frothy or two then going for the usual walk to grab some more on foot before having tea.Yet another Golden Oldie up here as found and logged at 12:30 on Monday 18 December 2023. Initially i was looking in all the wrong areas then i decided to entertain another idea and the cache was quickly located then.Time to go and check out the Dam while i'm here, the cache was priority ha ha TFTC gridge98
Found on a trip to Tasmania with pineapplegoldy! Some caches have been signed as "Goldy and Jimmy". Goldy has sent answers and uploaded photos where applicable. TFTC
Goldy and Jimmy are holidaying in Tasmania for a few days. A quick trip away from our regular life to see sights and find caches.I'm aiming to continue my daily streak and fill some Jasmer grid spots. As well as find some challenge caches and as many virtuals as I can. This was our first full day in Tassie and we went to see Mount Wellington and The Great Lake before heading to Launceston. We managed to snag a FTF just off the Tasman Highway at Targa and find some golden oldies in Launceston. This one took me a minute to locate but eventually I spotted the hide. Thankfully I did, as this was a needed Jasmer spot.Cache and contents are in good condition. Thanks for bringing us here. Thanks gridge98 for this traditional cache, which brings Goldy's total find count to 3782 on the 10th of November 2023.CITO's are a brilliant way to help keep our community area's clean. The Earth is our playing field and we need to protect it! Always be sure to cache the "leave no trace" way!**South Australia is the place be for GCA1DNA - February 29th, 2024 in Adelaide! Hope to see you at The Great Leap Forward!**
Geohubby (GeoTigerAce) and I are headed off on a 4 week holiday from Brisbane heading to Canberra, Parkes, Katoomba, Sydney, Melbourne, Ballarat, Dubbo, and Coonabarabran as our main stops, with lots of side stops along the way planned. A much needed road trip to take in the sites and spend some time away in nature.Over the course of our 4 weeks I wanted to focus on Australia's 'oldest' caches, and caches of interest (e.g., iconic locations, interesting locations, lots of favourite points, and places I have never been) as well as hitting my next milestone (#600). It has been a wonderful trip and we have seen so much, and spent a lot of time caching and exploring little places of interest. Thanks to all of the cache owners for maintaining these caches and bringing us to beautiful places on our travels, and challenging us to keep on looking at the world just a little bit differently. Lots of memories have been made.Day 20: TripCache #80: A spur of the moment quick overnight trip to Tassie for work had me caching in a brand new location. It was great to take the opportunity to grab a few caches here before heading back to Melbourne. TFTC.
Found off the beaten path, a fair while away from Gps coord, hint needs an update
Jetstar was having a sale…. in the middle of winter, for a destination further south than I already live. That sounds like a great idea!
So a plan for a 4 night whirlwind tour of the northern part of the state was hatched. I’ve seen lots of this beautiful state, but haven’t found a single cache. With plenty of challenges to tick off, and a long list of targeted caches, this week is the time to turn that around.
It’s the final day for this trip, leaving St Helens for Launceston via more of the coast and then inland through Campbell Town and Ross.
I parked outside the gates incase they were closed by the time I returned.
I set off with torch in hand and began the search for the cache. Fortunately I managed to find it after a little bit of fossicking.
Thanks gridge98 for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy.

OzHockeyChick shouted me a return flight to Launceston for my birthday. So grateful for this awesome gift and so very pleased to have her with me to celebrate. We got diverted to Hobart which definitely wasn't part of our tight schedule. Once we arrived in our original destination, we picked up the car and were on our way.I love trying to find older caches so was pleased to see this one our list of caches for this trip. Thanks for placing this cache for us to find.
A 'Thelma & Louise' style weekend away with Geoturtle37, to celebrate her recent milestone birthday. We are flying in to Launceston on Friday afternoon, returning to Melbourne on Sunday evening. Our carefully planned itinerary includes selected LGAs, placement dates, DTs and high faves. If we manage to find them all, we can expect 186 smilies in total.
We chose this one as it was a lovely old cache. A nice quick easy find before we head back to Tasmania’s oldest which we overshot.
Thanks for bringing us here by placing this cache, gridge98 ??

I recall a great WWII movie called The Dambusters. As for the cache, no relation to the movie but a fun find in an interesting location. Signed the log. Thanks

On our way around Tassie for 3 weeks. Getting towards the end of our holiday. Targeted Tassie's first cache nearby then had some lunch here. Great spot for lunch except for the European wasps that were about. Didn't get stung but they were very annoying
Cache was spotted after we widen our search

Travelling around Tasmania on our family holiday with TT016, PrincessAria1 & LittleG00sE.
Today we are in Launceston, staying for a couple of days.
After visiting the National Motor Museum this morning, it was time to go find Tassies oldest cache so we headed to the Trevallyn Dam. We had a picnic lunch then had a look at the dam before finding a couple of caches in the area.
It was a lovely day for a walk. The cache was found quickly, signed & placed back as found.

Out past an old cache, and decided to collect this one two.

Nice easy find while holidaying in the area cow 0/5 but there was plenty of wildlife to be seen which was awesome SLTFTC
A nice quick find as we were in the area finding another couple of caches…certainly worth the stop off here for the views…Tftc
After a big morning exploring Cataract Gorge & some sites in the city (& indeed a big week since we arrived in Tassie), the geokids needed a quiet afternoon watching a movie. I took the opportunity to venture out & collect a couple of caches to tick off old Ausmer boxes.
After reading the nearby information boards & having a chat with a local, I wandered over & made a quick find. All in good condition, TFTC & maintaining it for so long.

Out and about caching in the Launceston area and this was one we found eventually.. After reading past logs we took another look on the return back to the car and searched a nearby tree base and voila there it was nowhere near a flax. Can CO update hint please. TFTC
Adelaide to Hobart Road Trip
Day Four: Latrobe to St. Helens
Weather: perfect for geocaching.
Having found the real oldie nearby, I thought this cache from 2005 would help me with the 2y’stassies 20 Year Challenge in Ulverstone that I have signed up for. Then I notice that CO is gridge98!! Either he put this out when he was seven years old, or some adopting has happened.
I’m glad I came. The displays are interesting, and it’s always great to see a dam overflowing - it’s a rare event in South Australia.
Sadly these were the only two caches that I had time for in the Cataract Gorge area, so a return trip will be needed.
Thanks to whoever placed this cache, and to gridge98 for keeping it in play.

For us fabrically impaired folk, the hint didn't help. But checking the obvious spots and we soon had the prize in hand. All good here, TFTC from Tennessee, USA
Beautiful area! Not sure if it has been moved back to its original spot but was an easy find. TFTC!
