Well, the cache has certainly been "tidied" away - probably by the Council gardeners. So into the archive bin it goes. I'm putting energy into new caches. Cheers from Grandalf
I looked as long as I thought I could w/o being TOO obvious, but no luck, even tho I am sure I had the correct bush.
Hi Gandalf.
We dipped out. I crawled and poked around in the "knee high" growth. a total zip.
I guess it means it means another trip on another day.
We will not be defeated!

Too good for me today. Lots of muggles and I was on my knees around the bushes but not found. Will come back again soon
The Chisnall Family have found our 3rd cache at last again a tricky one but after 3 attempts and on hands and knees and a good tangle with the bushes lol we found it,,very exposed in this site.. what are muggles?????
An easy find, but we almost got cought by a Muggle putting his bin out! TFTC
Ouick find on our way to have a look at Lyttelton.Just visiting Christchurch what a nice place thanks
Half of us raced over from the gondola on a 'double-header' with another Grandalf cache. We managed this one, but had to concede defeat on the other!

After a trip up the Gondola, junior cachers were refuelled and ready to go. Quick find after rooting around at GZ.

Wazza and the Wenches have invaded NZ on a (caching) holiday. Surprisingly the Wench is happy for BBTD and Wazza to chase caches wherever we go.
Our last few hours in NZ. A bit of a drive down Marine Parade. Much to our embarrassment, we found ourselves lost due to roadworks and temporary road closures and ended up having to drive through the tunnel - quite an experience. Eventually we found our way back to the city district and from there out towards the airport. Thanks NZ for showing us a good caching time.
Quite an exposed spot to be searching for a cache. The passing traffic from all directions and also a nearby resident trimming his garden just a few meters away.
Cache located anyway and the log was signed at 1030hrs.
Thanks again Grandalf.

Excellent searching skills were shown by Caitlin on this one, whereas I'd given up. Happy to have scored this find. TFTC.
A Grandalf Cache in 4 minutes! This must be the record for us. Thank you for this cache, now we can search for the next of your caches...
A novelty for us to find a Grandalf cache that we can actually do!!! Annie found this one finally by grovelling around on the ground - just as well it was dusk and not a great amount of traffic about. We were sorry that we did not see the original container, and thanks for the answer to the mystery of what the strange tall building is for.

Found quickly, but while sitting on the ground with the cache a Police car drove past ,he backed back and gave us a cheerful wave.We waved back and went on writting in the note book and off he went.Phew.TN Left a Dinosaurus.TFTC
Most of camo has come off container and so is more exposed in a highly trafficked spot. Also, pencil is missing. TFTC
Team HotPJ told me about this one during a day of caching and generously stopped so I could log. Probably the easiest of the Grandalf caches to date! Tried to hide a little better as camo is coming off and white container is fairly exposed now. Also, there is no pencil so will log for maintenance.

Wondered what the tall concrete buildings had been.
Had to wait for muggles on horses to pass by then we were in.
No can at all now by the look of it.

The camo paint is mostly gone and it was easy to spot.
Quite exposed there, but was lucky in that found quickly while no traffic about.

Found again for the second time while others were at the nearby park. Forgot to log last visit so logging this one. Thanks
Another race to find the cache by me and 2 other adults while the kids played in park. I stood back and watched while my wife guessed the area but had it snatched out from under her nose by my brother as he dived in ahead of her...a family feud nearly initiated!!!! No trades but dropped off a java geocoin that was looking to visit coffee shops...thought this spot would convert the coffee addicts to beer drinkers!!!! TFTC
Found this cache with my personal travel bug Ice Age Scrat along our 3 moths trip around the whole New Zealand,

Felt a bit exposed at GZ. Container no longer camo, so easy to find. Smiled when saw original container. (#441,3/8)
Found with Imgettingannoyed during our 3 n half week NZ mega cache mission!!
Found by McAdies on our holiday around the South Island.
Took a little while to locate.

Number 100 for HALDANE - had to be a Grandalf! Coordinates were spot on and container was easy to find. Original concept would have made it very tricky to find - how often you come across empty cans in the undergrowth. TFTC TNLN
on our hols from UK tn/left pencil- to make up for the pencil I accidently walked off with from another cache (sorry-cant remember which cache) TFTC and the history about the brewery down the road
O brother this was in a public space!! Gave us the opportunity to suss out a wonderful playground for the grand children. TNLN Thank you.
This was my third (or was it the fourth) attempt at finding this. I wasn't going to leave without a find. It is galling when some find it so quickly. However it took about ten minutes and I was happy. No swaps. Thanks. Hatas
We felt very conspicuous looking for this cache. Fortunately it didn't take too long to find it. TFTC
I looked pretty suspicious trying to find this one, the locals didn't seem to mind though.

Finally!! This must be the 4th attempt to find. Was in the middle of a MTB ride and complaining to a friend that I had tried often to find this one. Then (with some embarassment) I found it within about 3 seconds of looking - d'oh!
After dropping GO Team K. off for his paragliding adventure, we headed to this park as his dropzone. I couldn't resist grabbing this one when we parked. Quick find. TFTC!
Cheers,
G.
(no swaps - caching bag left in Dunners this trip)

#295 (5/6 on a SW Chch day). Found with Troodles. Troodles found it pretty quickly once we got on to teh right side of the road.
Finally we found this, can't really figure out how we missed it the many times before. Was exactly where we thought it was meant to be.
Having K9 cacher with us helped make us look slightly less odd.
Dropped off a coin, took a TB

second cache of the day found while out walking the dog. A relatively quick find and also a quick exit due to hailstones. Put the wrong date in the logbook though (23rd instead of 24th)

Could have done with a drink too. At this stage I was half way through 60k's of cycling after 60 yesterday also. Easy find luckily as this spot is pretty exposed. TFTC.
Oh man if only I hadn't got the wrong park for the soccer when I did my search I would have hunted for this one.
Never mind, nice area, lots of cyclists, I guess I will have to make a return trip now.

Took longer than needed to find this one as I took the trail from the Pygmy Posthole that took me no closer than 200m from here. Found eventually! TFTC.
Found quickly, but whew its in an exposed place. Not sure why not in the great park across the road. Then you wouldn't be so conspicuous! Plenty of muggles to watch out for both on foot and wheels. Saw dog taking an interest in the same site on the way past a bit later. TFTC
This was the second of two tricky Grandalf caches found this morning. I've tried finding this one a few times, and it was easy today. Go figure. TNLN. Thanks for the entertainment.
Nice stop, and easy find. We were on the way home after a big walk up the hill & back.

Did this last month just after we had been to pygmy posthole. Really enjoying ourselves. Now logging on so we can actually see how many we have done
Its difficult to look nonchalant when you are frantically poking about here on saturday evening! I was starting to think I had it all wrong. well concealed. TNLN, TFTC. cheers.
Only had a minute to look with a car load of tired others wanting to get back to motel after long day. Obviously a little harder to find than I thought.
Very well hidden. Took badge, ice cream and champagne cork man. Left Falklands Conservation Sticker, Simpsons sticker & crayon.

Found it at last, still took a few minutes, including waiting for the locals to get their cars out of their driveway, and a number of trucks making three point plus turns at the nearby intersection.
Last time we looked the original cache container was still here and even though I worked out what it was I did not spot it, too well hidden for an inexperienced new geocacher. Thanks, please to have this one behind us.
(Apologies for the late log entry, got more than a little bit side tracked)

Me thinks I should have looked at how many 'didn't find's' there had been, and taken a large breath before thinking I will just pop down to the valley.
Oh well I see I am among some experienced cachers so will take heart and try again another day.

Found this cache with the good company of rincewind3 ,, I have looked for this on many occasions ,so glad to finally find it,,cheers
A bit exposed to muggle view! Ha! There's the understatement of the year. Did this with Bo of Bo&bronnie fame. He'd been before with no joy but in the end he found it first (after we'd all been looking in the same place before). Very well hidden.

A bit exposed to muggle view ! Grandalf, master of the understatement methinks !
Waited around for approx 15 minutes before attempting this in between waves of walking muggles, cycling muggles, petrol-powered muggles etc. I guess Sunday afternoon is a bad time to be attempting these "urban" caches !
And then we couldn't find it ! Much head-scratching ensued while we waited for the next gap in the traffic, fortunately the hint narrowed our search and the cache was soon in hand. TNLN and TFTC - off to find cold and unopened version of cache contents !

Quick easy find at night and no one about whilst on my way up to Pygmy Posthole.

Looks like the original was a real challenge - shame it didn't last. Nice to see the item inside the existing cache though. Thanks.
No luck. Lots of well hidden empty beer bottles and some large tufts of grass that some kind soul had carefully ripped out.
I'd tried this earlier, but no luck at all (perhaps I had seen it and dismissed it, I can't remember) and school had just got out. Back again today and only a occasional passing car to worry about. Found it fairly quickly, much more obvious now it's a actual containter... TNLN Thanks.
A hot day (31 deg) to run the Rockery, Morgans Walk and Brewers Braintwister loop. I was just going to have a look at this one, but I was surprised when I quickly found it. Because it was hot there were no muggles in the park. Just the odd "mad dog" (runners and cyclists) going past, or muggles driving home with only a cold beer on their minds. Too bad the one in the cache was empty
Thanks for the cache!
Thanks for the cache!
Searched for a few minutes but felt a bit conspicuous on a busy Saturday afternoon. I will be back!
After Navigull's comments, I decided to change the container. It is now a 500ml camo screwtop (with the old container inside as a reminder)
Felt a bit exposed, but kept on rooting until we found it! No swops, but thanks for the cache.
I headed up here from "Rockery' and from reading previous logs expected to struggle a bit. Indeed I did.
First I wondered what to say if asked what the H**^ are do you think your doing. I leaped into the air as a barrow load of old bricks crashed off a truck comming around the corner. I returned to the car while the driver cleaned up the mess and then returned to the search. I must have poked under about half the knee high stuff before doing a secong take at an object I uncovered. I snaffled it back to the car and there began a struggle that took on epic proportions.
Now the inner container was stuffed so full the bag resisted all arttempts to wiggle, waggle or eventually straight out wrestle it out of that thing . The mouth of the container had what amounted to barbs that embedded themselves into the bag. I was pulling mightily when the bag suddenly shredded and a veritable explosion occured as the contents fired off to every corner of the car.
Luckily I had a replacement bag but try as I might I could not get everything back in.
So I took the Idaho TB
Now this cache is quite hard to find and exposed to muggles and I had a plane to catch. Finding it took 15 minutes empting took 10 minutes and repacking it took all of 15 minutes. I placed the less critical swaps loose in the bottom and the plastic bag with log on top.
Now it was a brilliant concept but let down in preparation (not smoothing the edges) and then badly handled by previous finders overstuffing it . I suspect the last finder was determined to insert the TB which I was ultimately forced to take as I could not get it back in.

Dropped in for a quick health and welfare check on the cache. All is well - although I might renew the container soon.
Visiting from the U.S. with friends in Heathcote. I walked just up the road from their house to find this one. Took nothing and left an Idaho TB for a friend. Thanks for the cache.
Had a good look around all the vegetation in this area and did not locate the cache, picked up lots of possibilities but they were all empty.
I go past this place quiet often and have spent some time looking for this cache on a few occasions,,but still no results,Bugger,,,cheers Bo
