Pulling up caches.

25-Apr-17
Found the logical place but no container. Had a thorough search of the whole area but nothing. 3 DNFs since the last find in Feb 2016. CO doesn't appear to have been active for a few years. Maybe time to archive

08-Mar-17
No sign of this one , long gone ?

05-Mar-17
Like Daywalk before me I did not find this one.

16-Dec-16
On Wed 14th the brand new Oregon 700 crashed (for the second time these holidays) and lost all caches from the Nelson PQ. So visited the Richmond Library to note down the coordinates and details for a handful of essential Nelson caches... this was one of them.

Checked the length of the ledge - found one particular place with a loose piece of rock which seemed promising - but no cache anywhere. Suspect this one has gone AWOL.

Yesterday we assailed Mt Arthur on mama Cheetahs 45th Birthday! Party of five adults, seven children and one teen. So it was amazing we made it at all! Filled up our water bottles at the hut, and a bit of caching. With the kids spread out, we managed to find the cache relatively quickly!

26-Feb-12
Fell into the trap of spotting a likely spot where the GPS was pointing without taking account of distance. This lead to a higher level terrain route - to a spot where 3 people were enjoying lunch. They pointed out the track we could have followed!! We stopped for lunch as well and waited for them to leave before finding and logging the cache. Thanks.

30-Jan-12
GPS lead us astray here we reckon, after looking at the satellite image I think I know where we went wrong, get it next time I guess.

06-Jan-12
We would have missed this cool part of the track if it were not for the cache. Spent some magical time interacting with a family of toutouwai. Thanks for bringing us here. Smile

22-Jul-11
More snow than we knew what to do with.Fun but makes geocaching really tough!

03-Jul-11
Quick find while up here with the family today.Nice spot to sit and glass for deer across swamp creek on the bush clearings in the summer but far too cold this time of year.TFTC

27-May-11
quick find in the dark. tftc

14-May-11
Conditions weren't flash today, and I was counting on a walk-and-grab, but it took me a while to understand how to approach this one. Nice dry hide in a cool spot. Taken me over 4 years to get here, but finally made it. TFTC.

17-Apr-11
Found shortly after dark on my way back down the hill. Pity there isn't any heating in the hut - would have loved to stay here but decided to walk back down to Flora as the Fire there is fantastic.

05-Feb-11
Great location for a cache and nicely hidden too. A short stop before continuing to the summit. TFTC.

02-Feb-11
This was as far as Ms M was going today.
The weather was on the way out.
A bit of rain in the air and gale force winds.
Nice hide. Great views in both directions just below the cloud cover.

01-Feb-11
After not heading back down to the car we ended up at the hut. What a surprise the huts are a lot different to what i used to see in my earlier hiking days. We took a small break and had a piece of fruit and then moved on to the cache. After taking the wrong route to the cache and falling onto my elbow i was soon back on the right track and cache in hand. TFTC Smile. What a great view from here a well worthwhile hide Smile.

01-Feb-11
Well to continue our walk up the mountain we stopped first at the hut and ate our huge stash of food (an orange each) and topped up our water supply we were soon on our way down - opps wrong for some reason we choose to continue up the track stopping off to do this cache on the way - Unforunately as were only in sneakers Stretch0 had a wee slip and ended up with a bloodied elbow (war wound lol) got ourselves in the right spot and cache was soon in hand - log signed thanks for the cache and bringing us this far up the "hill" Smile

12-Jan-11
Found with no trouble, but windy and cold today up there. TFTC

08-Jan-11
Been up here a few times in the past but still never stayed the night. Today seems to be the day for hikers as the track was very busy must have been the good weather.Hope to be back up this way soon as i have new places to discover tftc.

23-Oct-10
took a bit to find as gps did`nt have clue and I was looking in place but we got there.Stunning day on the tops with no wind. Thanks

28-Sep-10
Tried to get this one on the way to summit Arthur. My GPS zero's out... looked down... and I was standing on 1.5 meters of snow. I'll have to come back in the summer time and try again.

02-May-10
It looked like we wouldn't be able to go up to the top because of some clouds coming in really quickly, but in the end we made it! It was really foggy though and we couldn't enjoy the view ... TFTC

12-Apr-10
TFTC. Great views of Arthur.

19-Mar-10
Hmmmmm.....got here with plans to summit (with 3 day pack) to find the wind and viz horrendus. Oh well, change plans, and will do the top one as a day walk, h (have done it often). The hut here was chocker last night.

18-Mar-10
number 5 for the day
thanks

06-Mar-10
Heading for summit, cool and overcast. Didn't get to summit due to inclement weather, hole in the wall will have to wait, frustrating as I was only 600 metres away.

15-Sep-09
Lovely views from GZ today. Cool cache! Thanks

18-Jul-09
I love the walks and tracks round here. Lots of snow and ice around today. Walked up from the car park with my son and stopped at the hut for a bite. Approached from the wrong direction at first but then worked out the right way. We carried on past the cache for about 1km but conditions were getting a bit too severe for us to go too far today. We'll be back in summer for the 'Hole in the Wall'! TFTC, Biggles.

31-May-09
Great day for a family walk - this is a popular track with our family. Awesome spot for a cache. Many thanks. Took geocoin GEHDA4 which was in cache but not logged in.
Many thanks for the great hide.
Happy Queens Birthday weekend to you. NAVFAM

03-Apr-09

24-Jan-09
Man, what a glorious day! Magic views with hardly a cloud in the sky. Easy find - coordinates spot on. Took off to Flora Hut for another find as it was too hot for us on the tops. TFTC. Took a 'Kiwi and left a 'Para-trooper''

09-Jan-09
Found this cache on the way to Mt Arthur - i was probably the last one today to do so, starting at Flora Hut at 3pm. The clouds cleared and the top was marvellous - not a soul in sight, total quiet, it was magical!

On the way back a weka came to greet me at the Mt Arthur hut cache - sorry weka, I had no food left!

30-Dec-08
TFTC - great location. Been up there many a time an watched the sunrise without even suspecting the cache was right there.

27-Dec-08
good walk up the hill really good weather interesting place for cache

18-Dec-08
So I got this great idea to hike Mt. Arthur when I was staying far away in Westport. I couldn't check out until 8am, so drove as quickly as I could. Started the hike around 11am so had plenty of time. Got to the cache very quickly--as mentioned, all the estimated times must be based on people snowshoeing with 100 lb packs or something.

After crossing the treeline (or bushline, as they say here in NZ), the winds really picked up. I went back down and put on pants and a wind breaker and set off again. The wind was blowing like crazy, and the farther up I hiked, the worse it got. When I arrived at the Pyramid trail intersection, I was actually crouching, as standing up was causing me to lose balance too often. I went behind a rock there and took some pictures, hoping for the wind to die down. Waited for 30 minutes, but it wasn't getting any better. . .so decided to bail. Only 3km away. Amusingly enough, this was the best weather I got in the South Island in three days!

Anyway, thanks for the cache--it's all I have to show for the effort! Took the slightly longer route down to Flora Hut on the way back, just to get some more (unwindy) hiking in.

30-Nov-08
Great walk, great views, great experience all round. Thanks.

22-Sep-08
An easy find today, so much snow has gone since we were up here last! Kwaka40 and I came through via Salisbury Hut. A really nice weekend, but very hard! No attempt on the summit as it was blowing so hard and the cloud was coming in.
TFTC!

24-Mar-08
Had a great walk today up Mount Arthur and stopped off on the way to pick up this cache.

13-Mar-08
Relaced cache today.

06-Mar-08
Replacing the cache in the near future.

05-Mar-08
Have been waiting for this one to be replaced before heading up this way but it has been a while - any chance before the area gets covered in snow??? If not it should be archived.

04-Sep-07
Removed cache for repairs

19-Aug-07
Tried to find this one on the way to Mt Arthur with Mark and Pete but my GPS was pointing me at a deep snow drift.
Made it all the way to the summit but experienced the extreme and sudden changes which can happen here and we had to retreat by following our footprints in a white-out.
A second attempt on the way down took me straight to the cache.
Log book is very wet.

22-Apr-07
Muggers everwhere today even a couple having lunch at GZ so had to make it "Arthur way down" when less muggers about. a bit drizzely today but still a nice place to visit.

08-Apr-07
It was a great day today, so I decided to go to the top of Mount arthur and do this cache along the way.
Was very dissapointed to find green jeep TB gone, and that nobody had logged it out or left a note in the book as to who now has it? I suspect Qmoto as I see it is now in his collectables list.
Other than that a great cache in a great place... Plenty of muggles about today (Easter monday) so had to be careful.

05-Apr-07
out for a walk with the family and checked on the cache, log book very wet so sit it in the sun,but it was still alittle wet.could do with a new one

07-Feb-07
Great walk in the park, spent 6 hours walking around here today, feeling it a bit now. Took a few minutes to click to top or bottom of cliff, but then an easy find.
Cache seemed dry, but logbook was saturated, bag not closed and a small rip. Barely managed to leave our mark.
TFTC, -TB + green jeep TB, bet this gets another visit real soon.

17-Jan-07
What a beatiful cache. we were with 5 people and we enjoyed it a lot.
Thanks for the cache.
In: TB wooden shoe

17-Jan-07
Fantastic hike through fairytale forest with Kleiblij, to place TB (made in Holland) in cache. Cache easy to find. Contents quite soggy unfortunately, including logbook.
May need to replace existing container with a waterproof container. Great cache.

07-Jan-07
While mot the nicest day it was a nice walk up here today, we did the Flora Hut circuit.
Found the cache quickly and picked up "Not another micro" TB
Thanks for a reason to get of the couch.
+ hiking kiwi keyring
TFTC

27-Dec-06
Found the cache in the open and wet inside (washed out by rain?). Dried it out and put it back (secured with stone in front) to where I found it at the beginning of the year. Dropped off TB "Murth's - Not Another Micro".

08-May-06
Checked cache for damage while roaming the area. All is dry and fine.

25-Mar-06
Not an easy find, but found all the same. TFTC.Booked 2 tb's in and out to keep them moving.

25-Mar-06
grabbed tb's out again. Homer would never survive the winter so far from beer.

25-Mar-06
Very hard to find
great day no clouds just windy

22-Jan-06
Excellent day for a walk, found this cache on our way to the Hole in Wall cache with Mike. + US coin, - muesli bar

23-Jun-05
As Jane said - a long day! Enjoyed the snow and wind on top of Gordon's Pyramid though Smile

23-Jun-05
We walked the long way round to find this - from the carpark, Flora Hut and the rock shelters, Salisbury Lodge for lunch, then over Gordon's Pyramid and down to the cache. Just enough daylight hours! TNLN, Jane and Mike

05-Jun-05
Took a while to get to the right place because of the fresh snow. Had to dig out lots snow to find the rocks. Good site. Stayed night with the kids in Mt Auther Hut and went higher for a spectacular sunrise. Decided not to leave a travel bug because of isolation, also container way too small.

06-May-05
Got his after Flora & Fauna. Good hiding spot !!. Spent several minutes on my knees before located. Unfortunatley the day was a cracker and cloudless so I could not think of an excuse not to do Hole in the Wall.

16-Apr-05
Yippeee!! Our first FTF! At 12.40pm
There were a few hiking muggles having lunch within 5 metres of the cache so we had our lunch too while we waited for them to move on so we could find it.
Coordinates spot on and not too hard to find.
The weather was great and the view is stunning.
-Brass Key ring
+ Alaskan Mushing badge
Decided not to do the high one at Hole in the wall.
