#4425 A quick find with GM in this historic township. No, we didn't find any gold...
A pleasant drive by. Unfortunately we couldn't do a mine tour. Next time.TNLN K&M
#6155Out and about with Frazelle and Ash Kate for a great weekend of caching around the area.A quick park and grab hereI'm really enjoying my day. Thanks rustymac.
Did a couple of jigsaws and re-solved a couple of history mysteries to fill my time before taking a trip to Hill End via Wellington. I decided to use geocaching to show me things in the area I had previously missed. It worked.
Highlights were a number of lookouts, the Cornish Roasting Pits, and an incredibly creepy looking graveyard.
Thanks to everyone who hid these caches.

Searched a few interesting possible hidey holes before finding this one. Great spot. TFTC
Found while in the area looking around at the lovely Hill End town with COM084. Co-ords a bit off but found with the hint. Recent council works have not affected this cache. Park near the old mine shaft access Rd. Watch the geokids as the road can get dusty.

TFTC #2 for today! Just love hanging out with the boys and doing boy things. Little bit steep but held my mates hands. Safety first with my fave bros <3
Once we located the cache, we worked out it may have been easier accessing it from the top, but either way, bit of scrambling and had the cache in hand. Tftc

Back out this way again today to check out a few more caches. This one was a hard scramble with a sore shoulder, but we managed to make the find. It has be a wonderfully busy weekend in the Bathurst Region as we pushed ourselves to get 25 different D/Ts in a day. The things we will do for a challenge cache!! Thanks for the cache.

It is a long drive from Gulgong to get to this place. And it will be a long way back as well. How do people do groceries around here?
But I wanted to complete the Adventure Lab and pick up some of the local traditional caches while I was here.
Hill End is a beautiful little town, very leafy and a few historic houses.
This cache was found on the wat to the final spot for the Adventure Lab. Luckily not a lot of cars around so I could just leave my car in the middle of the road as I scrambled to the cache.

Starting to warm up! A short scramble with full motorcycle gear got a sweat up. Quick find. TFTC. A good weathered container still holding up.
Really great hiding spot! Found it alongside the deafening hum of the cicadas. Tftc
After arriving in Hill End for a couple of days, we went out to see the sights, firstly pick up a couple of caches, not sure which road to take, but ended up near the cache. Stamped log and replaced. Thanks to rustymac

Drove down a back track from Bald Hill. Should have come up from the bottom. Went past wha is probably still an active prospectors hut.
Thanks rustymac

After taking the road less travelled we paused for some sustenance in Hill End. With our appetites satiated it was time to grab some local caches before making our way further north.
No issues in locating this one but we do wonder if the people further down the hill had any ide we were here.

Another great day on our one-year tripp around Australia. We love to travel in this country and we love to look for geocaches. This geocache has again shown us a place that we might not have visited without geocache.
Thank you for the geocache !
Greetings from Switzerland.

After the rest of the group finished their orienteering session, we decided to pick up this one last cache in the immediate vicinity. Thanks for the hide, and the challenge.
Spent the morning checking out the town and then off to find some caches.
Parked at the car park down the bottom and walked up to the cache.
An easy enough find.

I walked here from the village campground after a very chilly night. this time of year drives me a bit batty as you spend as much time moving as removing or replacing layers of clothing trying to stay just comfortable.
anyway I recommend the walk, its interesting, not very long and I saw lots of roos. tftc rustymac

Having bid our farewells to folk at the Oz Geo Muster, we set our compass for Mudgee, where we set up camp, in order to explore the area to the south west of town including Hill End.
This was real gold, for us - a great hide and close to our current centroid of cache finds (S 33° 02.953 E 149° 23.402) to fulfill a challenge cache.
Thanks 'rustymac' for placing caches for everyone's enjoyment.

Mudgee trip for The Road Less Traveled series. Day 3. Sofala to Mudgee via Hill End and lots more back roads. A dramatic spot, and of course a local wanted to pass me while I was stopped at GZ.
Thanks.

First find for the day! What a great place, came out from Bathurst for a scenic tour and wow what a historical town! TFTC!
Slipped and slid all the way down to this and then had to get rid of the ants running up my legs. It was good to locate this cache but was obviously not as good as finding its namesake. Thanks for bringing us here rustymac Worth a favourite point.
We found out why this has a higher terrain rating, and parking was not exactly ideal but the cache was located and TB picked up. TFTC
