The cache has gone, along with half the tree it was in, must have been a dark and stormy night.... Also a electric fence has gone up making access tricky! So RIP Raupo Berm
No luck, have been here before with my sister for this cache but some of the trees have fallen and chopped up so I think cache is gone.
Manage to get to GZ and make sense of the hint, but no little box to be seen. Ah well, another day maybe.
Lots of possible hiding places, so took us a bit longer to find than we would have liked, since a norwester was gusting, and there was a newly downed (massive) branch at GZ. We signed the log and re-hid the cache in record time!
#399 (5/5 of a North Canterbury sweep). The little Vitz didn't greatly care for the bouncy ride along the stop bank. Quite a few muggles around the car park, but not at GZ. A gusty nor west was blowing, which made looking for the cache a bit nerve wracking as there are some pine trees around GZ that may not be too long for this world.
Lots of whitebait muggles about but no where near the cache. Cold wind but an interesting spot. TFTC TNLN
Parked within a couple of hundred metres of gz and then walked the last bit, very wet underfoot today. This would be a great spot for those with canines. TFTC.
We found the right access way for the cachemobile easily, then only had a little walk left before PB made a quick find!
Left the Pukicker TB near the nice wetland area. Hopefully there will be some company for him nearby.

Found on our way to the South Island Orienteering Championships which are nearby.
This cache was exactly the reason we bought the four wheel drive for caching after being on wrong side of river twice !!der!! finally made it to right side still ended going to far on wrong track finally parked at right spot and walked through a very disinterested herd of cows to finally find the cache !!! was a bit of fun took nothing left soldier thanks for the interesting cache
After driving around in circles we finally got to the right place and found cache thanks for the tour of the country side
2.30pm. Nice spot, somewhere we would not have come without the cache being here.
Found a small black pen on the ground right by the cache, but there was already one in side?? so we took it with us.

Enjoyed the drive down the floodbank and this is one of the best cache sites I have visited, cool, cool, I would have loved this spot as a kid, thanks!!!
Found this one after a bit of 4WD adventure and river crossing as our mapping GPS took us to the wrong side of the river (turns out GPS is not 100% substitute for brain ), slightly seedy location - apparently a popular place for people experiencing the call of nature in a more urgent way. Lifted Tuatara TB and dropped another TB in its place.
An easy find. A bit too easy. The cache needs to be covered when it is replaced.
Take the first turn under the bridge not the second, especialy if you are in a car. I took the second turn on the MTB and it soon became rough and soft. It was easy once I found my way to the good stopbank road.

A nice estuarine quest. Spotted by some Muggles who were persuaded not to disturb cache and encouraged to use their GPS phones to join in the fun.
Chris and Sam cycled from the campsite at Waikuku. They didn't find the stopbank, so cycled along the river bed, which was very hard work in places, but great fun. Found the cache OK, then took a shortcut back as it was starting to get dark. Cycled right across the river bed! SL. TFTC.
Also logging in and out our England Geocoin.

Another new area for us. Nice walk along the stopbank, a few dead cars on the way, one van had been blasted with shotgun pallets ! Spent a couple of minutes searching in the wrong spot, but Cathy soon found the Cache a few meters away.

Easy find - lovely location. Always hear about cars being burnt out here, so wasn't impressed when I heard boy racers approaching where I had left mine! TNLN! Ran back fast!
A reasonably quick find and I left a small frisbee and took a Xmas decoration.
Came down to this one as another close by was put off due to muggles. Cache spot was easy to find and not much searching involved to get the cache in hand. TNLN Cheers!
Headed off down the river bed in error and of course didn't get very far. Turned back and found the right route. Those trees are pretty amazing.

We were staying just on the other side of the river, way too close ignore, so we popped over to this cache. Nice spot, TFTC

Found on my way home from Mounau Beach. Had a bit of time to spare and felt like an adventure. Met a couple of fishermen at the end of the road who looked rather strangely at me. Great trees in the area looked like it could be a party spot. Took a ball and left a cabana.
This was a most enjoyable cache. Took me to an unfamiliar place which was rather interesting. Thanks for that.
Good find on our way to CHCH, interesting area.

Greetings,
My first ever Geocache - it was a lot of fun. An ideal situation in which to hide something. The birdlife is amazing. The whitebaiters as yet are having no luck.

A quick trip to Canterbury while geocachers from here were up at the nelson event grabbed the Tb and will take it back to sunny nelson to warm up
This chilly cold frosty morning, I dragged the Lonely Texan 19 out of his warm bed and loaded him into the trusty 4X4. Off on a trip to the berm I decided. Traveled along the river bed, watching the GPS arrow show us the way. With a few big bumps and some cold water fording, we managed to reach ground zero without leaving the comfort of the truck. All was going well, then my wife stepped into a hole, lost her shoe in the mud, such a mess. Any way we found the cache, without much protest. Lonely Texam 19 took up residence. Please will someone go find him and release him from this cold place to journey on .

Last one on the way home from Christchurch this evening. Sun had set and there was just enough light to complete the search. Real peaceful setting.

We had signed a paper promising not to take our rental car “Off Road†so freaked out a bit when we started grading road metal with the underside of the car several kms short of our goal.Once I adopted a more defensive driving style we had no great problem and made it to the end OK.
When I was Just short of GZ some trail bike riders buzzed me but they soon roared off. I made the find at the second hidey-hole I checked.

Visited Raupo Berm on the way home from setting our first caches.
Breezy but pleasant.
We wondered how long that nearby metal post had been there??
Thanks Clan Jackson for the rubber lizard - one of our team couldnt resist it.
Left a Canadian tattoo.

What a neat drive!
I started going down the wrong side of the river- before I decided to read the page first.
I was almost tempted to drive across the river - but seeing as it was getting late, decided that I wasn't quite brave enough. +McSheikh TB. Thanks.

Ah shingle. My favourite I took the wrong track to start with, which I soon discovered when the track disappeared into the river at a point. Bugger. Realised I should head towards the stopbank, didn't take long to traverse to, and carried on and found the entrance to the berm. Parked up and jogged over to GZ. Didn't see the cache after a brief search, it ended up being pretty well hidden. No exchange made. Cheers Gav [577]
Located the cache without trouble. The river was very busy with muggles on motorbikes. Was a nice place to stop for lunch. + screwdriver, - woppecushion. Thanks metrafolk, Ridders76.
Nice wee drive and short walk out the the cache, GPS took us right to gz..
we picked up TB Mig-29 he can fly south for the winter...

Took some driving and walking, but we got there! Took the caribiner, left a U.S. 25 cent coin (Arkansas) and the MIG-29 travel bug.
Drove out after stopping for shopping and lunch and had an interesting ride around the river before driving along the stopbank and finding the cache. This was really interesting place and we enjoyed the ride and the walk.

After a week away caching in Dunedin I was amazed late yesterday afternoon to discover that my nearest unfound cache had still not been visited. So, out came the MTB this morning and I was off to be FTF. But alas, I get there to find that I am 3rd to visit. There was such a heavy frost this morning that the puddles around the cache area were still ice covered at 11 am. Left Perry Penguin TB as he needs to fatten up for the breeding season whilst he waits for the next flight to Antarctica. + Singapore keyring (from Dunedin's Keyring cache). - Diamond. Thanks metrafolk. Cheers.
Amazing - a new cache installed a week ago and still nobody had been there!! So thats another FTF for me. Having nothing else to do, I visited the spot today at 2:50pm on a cold wet afternoon - really expecting to see all those keen geocachers racing down the track to get there before me!! But no-one in sight for miles. I'm certainly going to go back there(one day when it isn't raining) and have a better look around - very estuarine and coastal, and the surf not too far away. TNLN
Oh no, 1 hour too late! We were on our way back from the city and thought that we could get another FTF but obviously Grandalf was a bit quicker than we. Anyway, what a great place and wasn't even raining on the way to the cache, only on the way back again. Next time we'll definitely take the camera, it's beautiful here. Thx.
