After a peaceful night camping at Pyengana we headed onwards to St Helens. We parked down near the Falls parking and drove up the hill in the Jimny. Until we met yet another downed tree, it was about 1.5km to the car park so we decided to walk (anything for a cache in an area with so few). We met a few more downed trees so it was quite the adventure to get to the parking area.We did the 60GSW and then headed opposite the tin mountain. Lovely walk and amazing views from the summit. Nice find at the top although log book is saturated. TFTC and for bringing us up here
Todays plan is grab a number of caches that are out of phone range so hopefully by opening each one on my phone before I leave a service area, I will be able to find them.Today this was a mountain of fog and it wasnt tin, it was as tick as pea soup!! Because I couldnt see that far it made my eyes look at the smaller things up close. Some of the moss/lichen made the ground look like it was covered in snow, the delicate, little pink flowers were very pretty, on the rock outcrop near GZ, there was a couple of black birds making lots of noise because I was getting to close to them and then there was a wallaby, who was happy just to sit and watch me walk passed, that looked like a drowned rat from the misty rain that had engulfed this peak. I may not of be able to take in the majestic view from here today but what I did see was still very special.Cache found as per hint but was rather moist.TFTC aloysius7Keep smiling
A really cool spot off the highway that was well worth going to.
aloysius7, we both fully agree with you. This area is unreal and has awesome views!!
The cache was found easily at GZ, the log was wet but we managed to sign it.
We'll definitely be back another day to explore this area some more.

We were over in Tasmania mountain biking around Derby for a few days. It was only me who was geocaching in the group, so I could only fit in a small amount of time to this hobby, in amongst biking, lavish feasts and drinking.
Today, we were back mountain biking doing the Blue Tier trail. I had wanted to grab this geocache a few days ago, but didn't realise it was next to the bike trails, but instead on the walking trail up to the summit. So whilst doing a quick "I'll be back in a minute guys", I disappeared, and tried to hurry to this cache 500 m. It was certainly a little further away than I had anticipated, and ended up jogging half the distance along the narrow and steep tracks (no other muggle walkers around but). Around GZ, there could have been many spots for this cache, but thankfully I had found the cache after only a few minutes. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Once I had finished signing the log and admiring the views, I took back down the mountain to see my mate coming towards me, noticeably annoyed. I definitely got a spraying of frustration from my group when they had stopped halfway, sigh, I guess that's geocaching sometimes that others don't exactly understand. Thanks aloysius7 for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance. A nice 05/2005 hidden oldie cache too!

Found it, log is a bit damp, so could do with being placed in a new snap lock bag.
Great view
Great view
Ma Kettle had some time to kill after dropping the rest of the family at the top of Blue Tier before needing to pick them up in Weldborough. What better way to pass the time than finding a few cached in the area. Once the riders had departed, she made the climb up from the car park to GZ only to find that Rocket2015 had the cache out ready to sign. Nice to meet a local cacher and have a chat. Lovely views from the top and could see the smoke from the Fingal fire in the distance. TFTC
Out touring the northeast today, we checked out Pratt’s Lookout fire tower then came across to the Blue Tier reserve for a look. Made the short trek to the top of the hill, great views all round, could see the bush fires burning over near Fingal and Royal Gorge areas. Quickly found the cache, and as I was signing the log, another cacher from South Australia walk up. Had a lovely chat before heading back to the carpark.

What a view! Our second trip up this hill within 2 hours and well worth every steep step. TFTC
After several enjoyable days in the Derby area,
there was one cache left to find
So following familiar dirt roads this morning,
I headed on up to the top
The carpark was packed !! [:o]
Shuttle bus prime time
I've noticed that the mountain bikers don't stop for bad weather !!
Today was a bit better than the last couple of days,
but it was still drizzling
So while the bike riders got themselves organised,
I headed on up the hill to view a cache
A misty view greeted me up the top,
and I could see the ocean out to the east through a gap in the clouds
I wasn't too concerned about the view today,
I had seen the view from the top of the Rattler a day or two ago,
and doubt this view could compete with that one
Me geosenses have been getting a workout recently,
so the cache hiding place was easily spied from 10 metres out
TFTC and bringing a tier to me eye [^]

Hi aloysius7
After arriving in St Helens yesterday and spending the night at Killraine Units the plan today was to find caches in the Weldborough, Blue Tier and Moorina areas. The round trip consisted of driving 160 kilometres and finding a total of 12 caches which required walking some 13.25km using a total of 17842 steps and burning a total of 1859 calories.
WEATHER: After the rain and hail in St Helens last night, I was totally surprised to have a bright, sunny day for the entire day's caching. Temperature got to about 16 or 18 degrees. Great day!
From "The Sluice" to look for this cache. Enjoying driving through this forest - first time here for me - never knew it existed prior to this caching experience. Even the camping and day use area here is well kept. What a brilliant area!! So a bush walk from the Sluice to the top of this hill; a distance of 0.96 kilometres. About the same back to the car.
From where I found the last cache to this one was easy walking . Again, the vegetation here is so different to that experienced those caches found this morning. An easy find was had at GZ.
Subsequently, the log was signed and the cache Sainted 1128hrs. Replaced as found, the cache is in good condition and so is the log. Some of the surrounding bushes were not comfortable to touch but they did not draw blood so all is good.
Having found the cache and replaced it, back to the car searching for batteries for both GPS and camera. I was surprised at the lack of active fauna in this area . Few birds either.
I used 1298 steps to cover 1.95 kilometres burning only 245 calories for the time walking to, looking for, finding the cache and return to the car. A very pleasant walk through what can only be described as magnificent forest. The history of this area fascinating.
From here, my next find, I hope will be "Australian Hill."
At days end back in St Helens a most welcome shower was had, dinner taken at the Ex-Servicemen's Club and back to the unit for rest.
TFTC and cheers

Easter north-east adventure with geocaches found and logged! Got to the top and wondered in there was a cache up here and found out that I was almost standing on it! Made a great walk even better. TFTC.
Found this one just before starting The Blue Tier MTB Descent. We enjoyed the short hike up to the top, great views from GZ, a quick find. TFTC.
I really love this whole area and am so happy the Parks boys have plans for it. And we knocked another one of the 60 Great Tasmanian Short Walks. Thanks very much.
That was a bit of a hill but the view even though there was heaps of cloud was great! Thanks heaps!
After I'd done the Australia Hill circuit, I finished off with the quick walk up this hill. Magnificent views on a gloriously warm day. I was heading back down (luckily just 80m back down) when I remembered that I hadn't looked for the cache!!! So back up i went and the cache was soon in hand. I was surprised at how many muggle entries there were, including a couple of fellas who'd climbed up there at 10.30pm at night. Thanks for a top cache/fantastic spot, aloysius7.
a lovely walk. Thanks for bringing me here.
Blue Derby and the Poimena walks and MTB trails deserve every support.

First time doing this and found it pretty easily... goood hide, good walk and good veiws.. Leigh and hannah
I forgot to bring my pen to this one. I will have to go back and sign the log! Beautiful area, great walks. TFTC!
No signs of any tin (not even of the rusty variety), but there were signs of a cache. We loved the walk up from the car park over the well watered grass that had been carefully manicured by the local wildlife. It certainly beat the condition of our front "lawn"! Great views with a cache in hand always go well together.
Loved finding this cache after it had no finds for 2 years!! Still dry and intact. Amazing spot, absolutely love the vegitation
Taken here for a walk on the Moon Circuit by Tasmanian friends and glad to find a cache nearby, with a spectacular view.
This is an area that we had been meaning to visit again for some time, but just hadn't got to - until today! We parked near the goblin walk (like others we didn't spot the elusive goblins, even though we did the walk!!) and walked around the Moon Rim circuit, with the cache location being our first stop. Our gps didn't really like the area and didn't seem to have any idea where really was, but we located the cache with the assistance of the hint (so thanks for that!). We stopped in to Gough's battery and admired the various very small plants (lichens, mosses . . ) that were putting on a fantastic display. We also wondered about some of the old workings and the people who made them. T caterpillar L orange frog. Thanfs for reminding us to come here!
Parked at Moon Rim carpark and enjoyed a lovely walk to top of the mountain. A bit cloudy today, but enjoyed the walk anyway! TFTC
The road to this cache is now open and 2wd friendly. We parked at the Goblin Forest Carpark and did the pleasant, easy walk up the "mountain" via the Moon Valley Rim Circuit which starts in the carpark.
The top of the mountain is reached after only about 350metres of gentle incline.
The cache is in excellent condition, probably because of it's protected hiding spot.
We had to lean into the wind to stay upright during the walk. The views were sensational.
We signed the log, took some tweezers and left a car.
Thanks aloysius7 for a great hide. [^]

Found on our North East caravan and caching weekend. Road closed sign still in place but we too drove round it. Lots of wash outs and potholes but Geocruiser got us there. We enjoyed the walk to the top and found the cache easily. Misty when we reached the top but cleared on the way down. TFTC
Just after turning off Lottah Road there was a "Road Closed" sign but ample evidence of many who had gone through. We decided to do the same. The road condition was variable, some parts good gravel but other parts badly washed away, presumeably from the floods earlier in the year. Our low clearance Toyota Wagon 4WD coped without any problems but we did need to ease it into and out of ruts at times. Once the car was parked, it was a very interesting walk to GZ. The flora here was very different to what we have seen elsewhere. The wallabies, wombats and rabbits (each of which had left their distinctive calling cards) had mown paths between the low bushes making access quite easy. Views limited today because of mist. Once near GZ, a quick find. TFTC aloysius7
Wow, great views. Could have spent a lot more time exploring around this area. Quick find. TFTC
An excellent spot and cache. Made the climb/walk OK despite TBT member K not telling TBT J to stop chewing that Native Pepper Berry. They start mild and tasty but then burn your mouth out! [B)]
Views were limited to the massive thunderstorm storm to the south, east and west, but it was a great weather event. On the way back to Pyengana the ground and road was white with hailstones, it looked like it had been snowing!
Thanks for a great cache, we'll be back to do more exploring around here.

Was a fair old hike up the hill, but I survived! Getting fitter every day.,...

Lovely spot, well worth the visit, the kangaroos obviously love it too but who could blame them - didn't make any swaps but one of the Cached boys left some gum boots in the car park

great view, great spot for a picnic. Cold this time of the year though. Went for a 3.2k walk as well and found some other stuff. great
Absolutely brilliant! Totally gobsmacked!
This would have to be the best cache I've done.
The views are magnificent, you can see for miles.
I identified Tower Hill, Nicholas Range, South Sister and Paddys ropes and ladders.
Took nothing, replaced log bag.
I then cooked chicken at the car park for lunch.
Thanks Mr A. Fantastic!

Nice drive up from Halls Falls. The Walk up the mountain felt strange, short thick grass in a landcape of boulders.Great views from the top on a sunny day. Cache in good order.
tis always good to get up into the high country was a shame the view dissapeared as we got there ,still enjoyed the walk t ball l grub thanks aloysius
Great views for this one. I do like my big rocks, especially granite, so this cache did not disappoint. Spoiled for choice on hiding spots though, it took me far too long to locate the old fruit container. Biggest problem with doing these multi cache trips is there's never anough time to fully explore the area if you find something that interests you. Will have to put this one on the 'I'll be back' pile (that is already quite big). Thanks Aloysius.
This must be the easiest walk to the top of a mountain we've ever done. Great views and there's even mobile phone reception here. Took kinder surprise toy and alot of photos, left $1 coin. Thanks Aloysius.
Nice easy find.Top view from here..very interesting place.Cache good.TNLNSL TFTC Cheers aloysius7.
Thanks for getting us up here. Wonderful cache! It's really different from any walk we have done - a trig point with hardly any climbing and a totally bizarre landscape. All that's left of the rainforest are enormous horizontal trunks weathered grey on a perfectly groomed lawn the golfcourse would be proud of decorated by carefully scattered boulders, red limbed pepperberry bushes and animal droppings - this place must swarm at dusk! Found easily thanks to Great hint and Great coords.
great view, but a lot of shit (from animals ). Took nice pics and the TB "VW Beetle" too. Will place it somewhere on the mainland. Thanks for the cache.

w00!
Got it. We walked up just as the weather had turned nasty. Perfect timing! :p
The captain lead (pulled) the remainder of Team Tiges up the mountain, we were still weary from the event the previous night, and starting to run out of energy. On top we split up. I took some photos while the boss went in search of a plastic container with ThatGuy.
I must come up here on a better day. The views were still good, even with the cloud cover, but on a clear day there would be lots to see in all directions.
Thanks for this one Aloysius. Top stuff!

Where did this fog come from.....
What was marvellous caching weather, turned nasty quickly as we approched this one, reading the logs is seems that the cache gods must punish all cachers that visit this one. Would have been a wonderful view but it wasn't to be.
Cache was well hidden away from muggles, but still easy enough to find for those in the know and was well stocked.

I really enjoyed this cache, despite the frigid conditions - the howling 30+ knot winds brought the already cold air temperature down well below zero I think
Luckily the NavWoman was spot on with GZ, so we found it quickly and got out of there asap - after checking out the wonderful vista of course.
Highly recommended, but if you have a choice, try to pick a day with little or no wind - it's miserable up there in a howling gale!
Thanks Team A - a class A cache!
