Cache Hunt 260; GAFF3; Weather, Sunny/cloudy; Helpers, None; Cache condition, Possible muggle. Find of the day, 3rd - STATUS - Unfound.
Found the park, found the playground, found gz and even found what looked like some of a log (paper) and a small pencil. I figured by the hint and previous logs that I had found gz and cache location, so when CO is up and on his feet again, a look to check cache would be in order. Figured as per CO's note that I could log this as I believe I came so close, and may have even found parts of the contents of the cache. Nice little area here TFTC.

Taking this action until I can get the opportunity to perform the maintenance that is required to have this cache back in tip top shape. Have been laid up with a knee injury for a while and will be for some time yet. Will have it up and running again ASAP. Sorry for the inconvenience…. BUT if anyone still wishes to search for the cache and finds it but are unable to log it OR retrieve it, it’s OK with us if you still log your find on here without signing the log book.
We even had the 6yo with us as cover! Had a good look around but to no avail, no joy here today.
We are on an “Escaping Christmas” and “Geocaching” holiday in Tasmania. There wasn't much else to do in Launceston on New Year's Day (they didn't even have fireworks last night!?) so we went caching instead. We thought the hint would make this an easy find - but after much digging we came away empty handed.
Looked in the obvious spot; after some "digging" around we found a pencil, but no cache.
Maybe the owner or someone else could check to see if this has been muggled.
Maybe the owner or someone else could check to see if this has been muggled.
Figured that this location would be full of junior muggles during much of the day, so waited until they would all be tucked up in bed before tackling this one. No-one in sight made it a quick and easy find. TNLN. TFTC.
Last cache today, taking my overall tally of finds to 542. Eventually logged this one at 1557hrs. Just as I arrived at GZ the first time a group of biggies arrived to eat their McDonalds so I had to go look for other caches before I got a chance at this one. Slid right into and then back off to Campbell Town. TFTC and cheers OldSaint.
Certainly a pleasant park. We had to be a little devious when retrieving this cache as a little girl and her mother were enjoying the swings. Whilst one of us wwent over and struck up a conversation, the other located the cache and signed the log - teamwork won the day. TFTC
tried to grab this one two nights ago but got muggled out by a lady and her two rug rats.... headed back into Launceston today so swung by to pick this one up on the way to getting Jacks for lunch... a real blast of winter today; cold, wet and windy and I think I left my favourite, long time cache writting pencil here in my rush to get back into the car
cheers 4 da cache michaels mob!

A cold, rainy morning for our first day in Launceston, fortunately this was an easy find. Thanks for a nice spot. No-one around today!
Our family's first find The kids had great fun digging it up.

Find # 988 @ 10:54 and the 5th of 17 finds for the day on our Tassie trip.
A quick and easy after checking the clue. I didn't want to hang around a childrens playground any longer than I needed to. TNLNSL TFTC

Good hide,I even had muggles at midnight so had to wait and then go in for the find.TFTC.
Found this some time ago and didn't have any writing tools. Finally found time to get back and fill the log in while introducing a relative to the art of geocaching.
Ingenius hide. who would think? No muggles anywhere to be seen; stealthy in stealthy out.
Still cannot believe how many parks there are in launceston. This was a find to Miss Princess Geo and with the clues was not a hard one to find. No muggles about so an easy return as well. TNLN TFTC
Found easily (as it was visible on approach, and we knew where it would be). Returning it was the hard part, however, as the play equipment was suddenly in use - and they weren't going anywhere in a hurry! We decided to take the cache for a short drive instead (it visited Jenerik) and returned it a little later. I hope nobody missed it whilst we were gone!
Thanks for replacing this cache michaels mob! We pulled up out the front of the park today and it appeared to be muggle free so the plan was for me to do a dash to the cache and back to the car. I was very quickly walking towards the hide when out of the corner of my eye I spotted two muggles!! Sat on the end of the object that sits over the cache and appeared to be sunning myself for a while. Performed a VERY sly grab for the cache (which was uncovered) and headed to write my name in the log on a nearby table. The muggles continued to hang around so we had to take the cache with us for a half an hour and replace it a little later when the muggles had left. I do hope no one looked for it in that time! The muggle factor makes this one quite a challenge ha ha
Finally!! - and a muggle-free park as well. Just where we thought it was when we couldn't find it before. TFTC
Have finally got out to replace this cache…. Sorry to those who have looked with no success. It was missing but has now been replaced, have also put in an additional hint.
Could the owner perhaps check on this one to see whether we're all blind, or whether the cache has gone walkabout?
We searched the area on two separate occasions and on the last occasion we went back in the dark with a torch and were able to have a really good look but couldn't find the cache.
Sat in the car and watched D n T trying to find this one but after a few minutes I realised it wasn't going to be as easy as I initially thought. I did get out to help them but I couldn't find it either A lovely park though!
Upon arrival at GZ my mini helper quickly forgot what we were there for and put the equipment to good use. I poked around in all the "only" spots I could find without success. Eventually the mini asked: "what are you doing", so I reminded him why we were there in the first place. Unfortunately between us were unable to locate this one, even though I was positive I knew where it should be.
Found this one while my daugher played on the swing!!! all parties involved very happy.
The boys literally did slide in and get this one... as it was a rainy day so there were no muggle kiddies around. TFTC
Slipped in to grab this one with out too much trouble
Took Snake left rubbers (erasers) TFTC SL

Used my little Nephew as decoy for this! Other little muggles about. Took pig left snake. Loving this, had a great day hunting with my nephew, had a wonderful time, nearly addicted!
Excellent Park, easy find & somewhere I would not have known was there if not for Geocaching.
Came here a while ago but there were so many little muggles playing that we didn't even try it. Came back in the dark and had a quick find.
Visited this spot twice yesterday, but the area was brimful of kids.... and dogs. Found quite easily, clues were really good.
Swapped tiny pig in bag for a big pig. Signed log

Second attempt at this one, bouyed after success at Footy Fever find. Still needed the clue to find and we were lucky that it was quiet despite the gloious weather.
Very clever hide. Nothing to take, but left a Pig in a Bag.

Went there at night to avoid the crowds! Nicely hidden, very sneaky!
Thanks very much!
Thanks very much!
We were about to give up when the penny dropped as to the only location it could be as stated in the clue.
Well hidden as usual thanks for the use of grey matter.
There were plenty of dogs in the park which was funny as it is a "dog free park"! But then agian we did have our "Geopups" with us, but how could we find the caches without them! LOL.
Thanks again.[^]

Re-visited while MullinitOvr had a look. She found the cache well-hidden and in good condition. The park was so peaceful this Sunday morning - but the playground was certainly wet after yesterday's rain. MullinitOvr had two very wet knees by the time she'd finished with the cache!
GPSr led me straight to GZ - and after grubbing around for a bit, I soon had the cache. Good hide, and great park for the kids.
Had to take a break from my walking tour of L'stn. Here was a beautiful park with a pair of young kids playing.. Dang, have to wait. Almost gave up on the find after they left.
Dug a little deeper. Gotcha...
What a great place to hide it.

The park was muggle free in the immediate area, but this one took me ages. I had virtually been rolling around on the cache before finding it! Logged @ 17.35

Found after a loooong play with the minicachers in tow. Very suss looking couple with kids hanging around too! I am positive they were after the cache too and gave up because of my persistance!! if so Hi from us!! TNLN
2.00pm
Found by Roma and Max.
We are always self conscious when approaching these venues, unless we have our grand children with us.
However at this time of day the place was vacant of any usual occupants and using the hint we were pleased to make a quick find.
Thank you once more michaels mob.

Got this one tonight on our way home from town in the dark, my daughter was straight on to it in no time TNLN
Thankfully no kids about today, but there were a number of dog walkers passing by. I think I was discrete enough though & the task was completed quickly.

Thanks Michaels Mob for leading us to an unique play park in the city. The dry creek bed routed around the playground makes it rather special. There were no muggles about when I visited so finding the cache was pretty easy though putting it back was a little tricky as a girls school decided to have a sports session some 30 m away at the time.

Nice hide but stealth required depending on muggle activity. Daimler Ute (Qld).
Another find that was exactly where the GPSr took me. No muggles today until I was leaving when a father and daughter turned up for some entertainment. TFTC
Found by Mary & David at 1705. Yes, luckily no small muggles about to make us all look suspicious. Able to camouflage our activities from potential onlookers. TNLN. Our thanks to michaels mob once more.
As with maccamob we normally don't do playground caches but with two couples here today we though that we would give it a go. We arrived at gz and the place was totally devoid of children so we decided this was the perfect opportunity. The GPSr's led us directly to a likely location and maccamob soon proved them correct, we signed the log and as we were leaving two children came running over to play, this was our lucky day.
Thanks michaels mob.
Thanks michaels mob.
After waiting for the muggles to clear the area we quickly located the cache and signed the log book, before any more muggles appeared. TNLN
No muggles around early on New Years Day.
Found after a little digging around.
Thanks!

Took a while to find this one.
was right where it should be, but well hidden.
had to scrape around like a dog after a bone.

turns out, we lived over the fence from this one for at least a year!
too many muggles when we drove up.
kept moving.

Late at night was a good time for us to try and find this cache as it took us a fair while to locate it. Turned out gspblu made the find AGAIN and to make matters worse...rebulus and I had already looked there! [:(!] Obviously we didn't look hard enough. But in the end we all enjoy searching together!. Thanks for another fun park cache michaels mob.
Night time is a good time to do this cache. Took us a while until Gspblu found it. Should have paid more attention to the clue and maybe would have found it quicker. I wouldn't like to do this one during the day. Thanks michealsmob. TNLN
Very peaceful at this time of night 23:00. No 13 of 35 caches this trip .TNLN Thanks Michaels mob
Third time lucky...finaly the park was not full of playful muggles. Last weekend we came here and another bloke spotted me holding a GPS and told me I should try geocaching! The kids swapped a bracelet and we left a Bluenose2 badge.TFTC.
Muggles about on first visit. Went to "Reserve the Punches"and came back to find no muggles later in afternoon 18:15 Cache in good condition. TNLN Thanks Micahaels Mob for the cache
I've got mixed feelings about this one. I respect that that was a cool hidey-hole for a cache and it's good to know this park exists (it would be a great spot to return with my young 'uns)... but without them on this trip I was VERY relieved there weren't any muggles in the area.
Found by TTE, good hide, easy find muggle factor low today, unlike our last attempt at this cache. Cheers Quilter
Found at 1245 with Brian the Explorer, No muggles were in site when we visited theGZ. We are both from Queensland.
took a while to get this one as i had to wait for the muggles to disappear. A very good hide
Quite easy, knew where it had to be, and no muggles on a foggy day.
Had to dig for it though, rather unsporting that.
I know that the littlies may find it if it is uncovered but perhaps a bit more camouflage would do it.
Placed in Mawson's Duck( Penguin) TB, just a little closer to the Antarctica.

Good to be able to grab this one while the littlees played elsewhere. Would not be an easy get under any other circumstances. Thanks michales mob.
Found it, nicely aided by geokiddies from next door, acting as 'camouflage' to my endeavours.
And so (sadly) ends another caching expedition in Tasmania - off back to WA in a couple of days. But... will be back again in a couple of months to admire more of this beautiful island.

Walked up and found this one very quickly, but after doing the paperwork muggles came out of the ground! None too close but still in good view. I waited a while and was about to go off and come back when an opportunity arose and the cache was replaced safely. Thanks again michaels mob.
YAY, at last thanks to a little help from sirius tas, pleased about getting this one at long last, wouldn't like to guess how many times we looked in this spot already, obviously not well enough, TFTC.
thought we would go back and have another look for this one, but we didn't have any luck again, so many places to hide a small cache, started at GZ and worked our way out till two young muggles turned up and we decided to give up again,
No muggles about at 6:26am, so we had plenty of opportunity to nab it. There seemed to be only a very limited number of places to put it, but it was not to be. Thanks anyway.
we searched for quite some time in the heat of the day but couldn't find it, but we havn't given up yet, we will return at a much cooler time to resume the search.
I have replaced a Cache in the original location and have had it activated again.
I hope the time that has passed will have this cache muggle free once again......
I hope the time that has passed will have this cache muggle free once again......
This one has been found and removed from it's 'hidie hole' and the spot is now very exposed. I don't think it can be replaced due to the exposed location SO we have decided to archive this one for good......RIP.....
Second of three DNFs (all michaels mob caches) for the Launceston day of my assault on Northern Tasmania. Geez, I hate 'em in playgrounds! A lone male is often looked on with suspicion at such places, and I was once accused of being a paedophile at a playground cache in Sydney. I have been wary of them ever since. However, today there was nobody about, so I was able to search unhindered. I spent a good 30 minutes searching all manner of places both inside and outside the playground. I gave the search away at 1125. I spoke to robtas later in the day, and he confirmed that I had looked in the right place. In fact, I had looked there thoroughly at least three times. Once again, I'm not prepared to say that it's missing (as soon as you do that some newbie cacher comes along and finds it! ), but the evidence certainly points towards that conclusion.
