***** REVIEWER NOTE *****

Hi tanetops

It appears that this cache has been inactive for quite some time. Is it going to be replaced or should it be archived to make room for possible future caches? If the cache owner does not contact me by 21 October, I'll assume the cache needs to be archived.

While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other cachers from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can't do so forever. Please either repair/replace this cache, or archive it so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if you haven’t done so already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past and am looking forward to seeing your cache up and running in the future.

Thanks for your understanding,

Regards,
Zero Gravitas
Geocaching.com Volunteer reviewer

It served well during it's lifetime. Now due for retirement

Maintenance visit confirmed that cache (and presumeably the travel bug) had disappeared. Looks as though a branch of the cabbage tree had broken away together with cache container. Will try to replace in coming months in nearby location.

Had a good look around GZ but couldn't find any sign of the cache. There has been some earth moving in the general area but don't think that had affected the location. Will have to try another day. Great area for a walk though.

From reading logs we may not have looked high enough, didn't bring our stepladder! No sign of cache for us although we did look high and low within reach. All hollow places seemed either empty or bottomless and the area is well squashed and trodden considering no-one has logged since March.

Our first find back home in NZ, and what a pleasure it was finding it while introducing geocaching to our niece and grand-nieces who had great fun. Left a "boots" travel bug we brought over from the states.

Left a "boots" travel bug which walked all the away across the Pacific from the states

nice spot for a cache, sat by the river for awhile. kids enjoyed playing by the river, and crossing the old rail bridge by the skate park. TNLN

Took a country drive from Matamata and relative's 'farm' stopped for refreshments at the Ironique Cafe as it looked popular and out of curiousity had to try Fish 'n a Bowl beverage - highly recommended and the perfect sugar boost to hike off and find a cache.
Lovely walk - got to pat lovely Lab out for walk with his family on way back as missing my own geo-doggie. Not a single swan to be seen but it is possible I might have heard them. Cache perfect hide.
Items swapped (ref site log - sorry over a month back now as unable to find anybody in NZ connected to the internet!!!).
Great cache - thanks.

5 people rode round the lake on four bikes
We all took turns taking hikes.
The lucky one who did the last dash
Had the GPS and found the cache.
The wonderful clue
Taught us something new.
We took the coin to another place
To help it in the world race
“The Circle of Life†is where it went

4.00pm. Quite a nice walk with plenty of bird life. It was early in the season to see a swan with young. Quick find once we had done the walk. - T.B. + Geocoin.
Thank you David & Noeline

What a great little walk. Luckily the electric fence was not live! Cache access a bit difficult for this shorty, but with the extra efforts of Radio Nut, soon in hand. Ditto sp8sm8 comments re the container. A more solid one is required, as lid is already cracked. In - mini kaledoscope & miley top. Out - nil. TFTC. Geese, swans, ducks and pukeko observed and appreciated.

Great spot - good to see these preserved wetlands, and the wildlife enjoying them. Lots of black swans, and Canadian Geese about today. Thought this would be a great spot to drop off the lazy frog bug for a bit of a rest.

Easy find on our way up north camping ... made a great lunch stop. TB out

28-Dec-05

Nice walk in the sun. Got fooled by an obvious hiding place and spent a while searching - and searching - the spot before looking somewhere else.

Wet dismal day so no one else around to disturb the find. Did the complete circuit just to say I've done that. Quite a few signets in the lake with their mums and dads.

Very noisey with all the ducks, no one around on this wet day, no mountain in view accross the river, all covered in low cloud, would be a great walk on a good day,
Thanks

They need to rename this cache "Duck Lake" - they certainly seem to know where it's safe during hunting season. Found the cache fairly easily and took it back to the track to write up the log when a muggle on a bicycle appeared - he was a marshal for the imminent school cross-country. Was frantically trying to think of an excuse for my activities when he said "They'll probably stuff up your birdwatching" - phew!!! TNLNSL. Thanks for the cache.

18-May-05
What a nice little walk. Strangely fine and warm in Te Aroha today, while just over the hill the Bay of Plenty is in full flood. Thanks Big Grin

17-May-05
2nd time lucky-I dont know how I couldve missed this one-but I did and it was so obvious!!!!
Got sprung by muggles at GZ and did the usual and explained what it was all about.
Waited till they left to replace.
Placed 3 erasers. Took nothing
Boy was it windy today-almost gale force yet just up the road was calm as.

14-May-05
Lots of ducks as said by previous hunters. Had to take the keyring as it is my daughters name

11-May-05
I was here for ages and couldnt find it- Prob about an hr.
I searched the cabbage tree-the centre of it where there was an obvious hole but nothing in there except dirt.
2 out of three local caches today. Thought this would be the easier of them too.

This is a fascinating place. We saw heaps of water fowl and a zillion ducks as it was opening day today.

The trees in the lake (swamp) are a brilliant red/orange at present and there are all sorts of unusual specimens around the lake as well. Check out the walnut trees around the cache area, a botanists dream.

left footprints and took walnuts. Thanks

Seems that we must have only just missed Spudgun & Pam. We had a very similar experience - I don't think I have ever seen so many paradise ducks, ordinary ducks and swans in one place before. They sure do make a noise.
We were also impressed by the Autumn beauty of the place (see pics) and came away with a backpack full of walnuts for drying. Thanks. TNLN
