Ah, that would explain why I couldn't find it. Don't you hate it when pocket queries & GSAK don't automatically pick up the fact that a cache has been archived?

spent ages searching and going back to check our figures - no cache. Did drive to the landing site which is worth a drive.
Sad the cache cannot be found.

Found the information, came up with some numbers - did a wee bit of a back track and found a spot that corresponded with the hint. But no cache to be found - by us anyway. Sad

Got a reasonable result from the info and calculations. But after spending half an hour or so, I did not succeed in finding this cache. Wonder if it's still there.
Thx anyway.

The co-ords were bang on. The final was where I thought it would be, I remember more info at the site than there is now (read none) when I was younger. TNLN thanks, an interesting bit of coastal history.

i think the first coordinates are off?
but found info and cache no worries!

Bit of a compulsory stop in a way, trying hard to get to Hokitika and avoid the $2.00/litre petrol but wasn't going to make it so had to pay the $20 call-out fee to get some petrol (plus petrol at $2.00 litre of course). Yes, should of just bit the bullet back at Fox.

Good cache, I always like these little snippets of local history.

Is this missing? Found everything mentioned but no cache at the end. Sad PErhaps next time we come to NZ...

A great place to stop and read the history. Aha, we thought, looking at the map on site, we're off to the landing site. So was quite perplexed when our final calculations showed a different place than the on-site map. Checked, rechecked. All seemed correct.
Trusted the GPSr, and went off to final GZ. Noted the name nearby and made the connection.
Drained, dried, cleaned the cache, and removed the mouldy swag.

Quick and informative little multi. Glad we stopped off here. SL. TFTC.

Also logging in and out our England Geocoin.

Arrived just before 4 campervans full of muggles. Pretended to be a documentary maker! Smile I mean, who in their right minds looks at the side of a tin shed and writes stuff down about it!?

Found easily and loved the mural.

Took a smelly candle and left a badge.

Caching with Linleye. If you need sustenance, do call in at the Hari Hari Pukeko Tea Rooms on the main highway. Best we have ever found in NZ.

Well well well.. i logged the correct final co-ordinates only to carry on playing with the GPS and wiping them. However we never knew this till we were asked if we were ok searching in the wrong spot!!! Ooops Re-logged the co-ordinates and off we went to the right spot. Was possibly best to search the obvious spot first before the more difficult areas.

Interesting story about an aviation pioneer and an interesting multi cache on our way to Greymouth. Took out TB Mc Fazer for a flight to Germany which is much longer but more comfortable nowadays as in the times of Guy Lambton Menzies.
Thanks for the cache.

Have just viewed a clip on TV showing the reenactment of this historic flight. It showed the new commemorative plaque and the buildings that were being completed when we passed through recently. It makes our visit even more worthwhile.
Thanks

Easy find, although back-tracking on a bicycle is always a little disheartening. Great history lesson. TNLN. Thanks again Moneydork.

14-Dec-05
There is a new commemorative plaque and the whole area has been really spruced up. This actually made gathering the information a little tricky as the format is slightly different. However it was easy enough to sort out and get the correct coordinates. It was good being taken to the second site as well - this was very interesting information.
Thanks

A FTF! Hidden in May! Blimey.

Nice and straightforward, interesting bit of local history. I wrote down the instructions with a few short-hand shortcuts, which caused a minor confusion, but soon straightened out. Then straight to it, grabbed the geocoin and left a green star stone.

TFTC!
