Sorry, won't be able to get up to this cache area for a while. Best that we let this one go now.
It appears that the DSE have been lighting fires in this area and it sounds like this well-loved cache has been burned.
I will endeavour to re-place this cache on my next trip to the area, but for now it should be disabled.
Thanks to everyone who made the effort to find this cache.
with best regards,
mark (edwardsclan)

Oh Boy - all I can say is thank goodness we had our new Garmin in hand which had an easy to operate calculator. Nevertheless we spent a lot of time calculating and recalculating the GZ co-ordinates (in between doing other caches in the region). We were confident with our final co-ordinates as they matched the hints on the cache info sheet. By the time we got to GZ it was on sundown and it didn't take long to find that the area had recently had a fire through. We spent quite a bit of time digging through ash to no avail nor did we find any signs of melted plastic. Both the Garmin and Magellan were pointing to the same place & even by broadening the search we had to admit defeat.
Thanks for the cache - certainly got the wheels turning (albeit a little rusty). This is a fantastic area.

I didn't find it because trying to work out the co-ords for GZ while I was being molested by every fly within a 50klm radius was to be honest, too much of a pain in the butt. Another time for this one I reckon. Thanks EdwardsClan for the cache.
Now I know why these new fangled GPSr have a calculator on board! After getting the required info and battling the flies back to the truck I worked out the final co-ords. We were soon off again for a short drive. Next came the walk and we soon had the cache in hand. We took a soldier and left a sucker head. TFTH. Elmer.
found this one after doing the maths at home after taking photos last visit and getting info to confirm from grum TNLN SL TFTC
Found at 2.25pm
Thank goodness for calculators.
Found at GZ after searching a bit and then following our instincs and thinking "Where would we hide it". Was then fairly obvious.
Could have done more today but wife was busy sleeping in passenger seat.
T: lavendar scented sachet
L: litter bug keyring.

Found it but I'll have to confess to bypassing the maths. I suspected I'd have difficulty here so I went armed with some help. Since finding the thing I've tried to make the numbers add up but am still having difficulty.
Anyway it's a nice spot even though there's a distinct shortage of H20 at the site.
Thanks indeed

With the maths completed from the last visit today it was time to head for the cache. I went looking and looking but could not find the cache.
Will have to try again some time.

I got the required info at the rocks while fighting the flys off. Then got a little distracted when Miss Image took a swan dive off the rocks and skun her nose and ended up with a mouthful of dirt! Any way took all the numbers and worked on the maths and it didn't look right. So I took the numbers home with me to ponder upon. Then It dawned upon me and I worked out the answers. I now have to find time to revisit the dam to find the cache. It shouldn't be too much of a hassle as I only live 1 hour away and come to the area fairly often in winter to go skiing at Mt St Gwinear.
Thanks for the brain work. Now for the leg work.

I had been very busy doing survey work up in the Thomson catchment area for the last three days, but I managed to convince my workmate into at least trying one cache while up here. Once the required info was obtained, I hastily retreated to the car to compute the final cache position as the flies around the plaques were the worst I’d experienced for some time! It turned out that we were heading in the direction of the cache anyway, so it ended up being only a slight detour for us today. We found the cache in good condition, and still covered as intended - not bad for a whole year unfound! TNLN & SL at 9:45am. Thanks EdwardsClan for the cache!
Found on 12/11/06 @ 1507 AEDT. Eighteenh of 22 finds for the weekend with Facitman. We had collected the information when at the dam wall the previous day, and done the calculations in the morning, and with the remaining members of the convoy embarking on a final (unplanned adventure), Facitman had an easy find whilst I was looking elsewhere

After collecting the clues on Saturday Rhinogeo and I calculated the final cache location this morning and after saying our goodbyes to the remaining 'A Weekend Beyond Walhalla' attendees we headed for GZ. Finally I had success with a cache finding it before Rhinogeo.

Found 14:25, a nice easy find, unfortunatley the same couldn't be said for the maths [xx(] Biggle Bear thinks he may have hurt his head today.
TNLN, thanks to the EdwardsClan, all in all a great couple of locations.

Visited with Acts2 on a flying visit. We both muggled the maths so when we have sorted it out.........[xx(]. May take a little time.....[:i]
Will have to log this as a DNC did not compute. Why did the math's have to be so complicated?
4.45pm
Found by Roma and Max together with The Swaggies.
The last find for the day, and after some interesting mathematics, we proceeded to GZ where our calculated co-ordinates proved to be spot on.
We took a Giraffe and left a Mondo Figurine.
Thanks Edwards Clan.

Romax and us made it to the first co-ords and checked out the view. Made a mental note to try and save more water! Did the maths (printout looks like a scientific thesis) and proceeded to GZ where our results proved to be pretty accurate. Unfortunately not enough room for Lucky Lobster so we will keep him moving.
Took Bear ornament.

On my first visit, my calculations put me somewhere in the middle of the bush, a long way from the nearest road. I thought I'd made a mistake and redid the calculations, but came up with the wrong answer. Today, armed with the updated formulae, I was able to quickly locate the cache without any need for long distance bush bashing.
No swap was made. Thanks for the cache, and for showing me this part of the world.

Found at 12.50pm, GAFF1. We were'nt too sure about our calcs, but percervered and found the track to GZ. We have been to the dam wall many times, but never to this nice little spot - so we had lunch there to enjoy the surroundings. Took: Beetle, Left: Giraffe. Thanks EdwardsClan.
Found at 3:00pm. Fourth of nine finds on our tour of the Thompson Reservoir. We had seen the reservoir from a distance on the recent cache dash but today we got the opportunity to visit close up. We gathered the info from WP1 then drove to within 65m of where we thought the cache would be. We thought we must have made an error on the calcs so we reran the math. We then remembered the other possible approach which turned out to be correct and we soon made an easy find. Thanks Edwards Clan from D,S & H B-A.
This was the thirteenth of fifteen caches found today while out with Team Crackers. By the time that we reached this one the daylight had well and truly escaped us. Armed with torches we collected the necessary information. Once again the maths was left to me, not the wisest decision to make. Soon enough we had the final coordinates and we were off. The cache soon revealed itself in the torchlight.
Thanks EdwardsClan for another interesting cache.

Found at 19:05, this was the thirteenth cache for the day while out with Cracker Girl. We pulled up at the first location and gathered the required information, and in doing so learned about this massive project. We then returned to the car to work it all out. This turned out to be another case where the maths took longer than the information collection. With the solution in hand we were off to GZ. We were able to park within 100m of GZ and with the satellite gods being kind to us the cache was found quickly.

Thanks EdwardsClan for bringing us to a location that we otherwise wouldn't have stopped at.

Found by Mary & David at 0830. We gathered the clues late yesterday, but by the time we had done the maths and double-checked the work (after learning the hard way yesterday at Goldrush #4) it was getting dark. Just glad we had a calculator. Didn't fancy going to GZ in the dark and, as we were staying out this way overnight, decided to return in the morning to finish it. A great little park in an area we hadn't visited before. Took wine glass charm, left moisturiser. Our thanks to the Edwards Clan for this worthy addidtion to Quasar's series.
Maintenance visit to listing. Many thanks Muzza for pointing out the error. Am hoping this will prove slightly more fruitful now...
Mr.Coffee and the Coffee Clan’s 38th FTF.
After a drive along the back way (years ago you needed a key for access) we arrived at the first waypoint and gathered the clues.
If people wonder how low the water level is today I have pictures of the water near the top of the tower in the middle from 10 years ago.
The cache was found easily and we enjoyed another coffee break in a familiar location.
Thank you to the Edwards Clan for the cache we have enjoyed them all.
