We have been visiting Europe for a few weeks from Australia, meeting up with family on a ski-trip in France, and decided to tag on a few days in Italy at the end of the trip, including a few days in Rome. We brought the kids down to Circus Maximus, and while they ran around I quickly found this cache. TNLNSL, thanks / grazie FTC!

We had 5 days in Rome to see the city and do some caches on the way between the different view points. We found a lot, but also we had a very high number of DNF, even if we skipped some, that had more than 3 DNF. Anyway it was a very interesting trip, and according to our city guide, we did most of the MUST HAVEs.

Lovely little walk along the circus maximums which I remember learning about in high school history many years ago. Tftc
Could see where this one was hidden as I honed on on GZ. Sat over it and did up my shoelaces while I removed the hiding stones. Lots of people strolling past made me feel a little concerned about the caches safety, so I sat there for a while longer to make sure. OK, so the sun was nice and warm and I didn't want to leave! Thanks for the cache.

Nice stroll on a beautiful sunny day, few muggles about but easy to find whilst wandering around the beautiful ruins of Rome. Left Australian flag badge, no pencil in cache. TFTC from Australia.
Auch diesen haben wir schnell gefunden. Vielen Dank von der gesamten deutschen Rentier-Herde!

3:12 pm. Visiting from the San Francisco Bay Area. We spotted the hide easily as we approached ground zero. Thanks! # 2285
Mathilde and me found this cache easily, except for many other caches in Rome. We had a wonderful time at the Circus Maximus, because it wasn't that noisy and hectic as many other parts of Rome.Greetings from Vienna, Austria.Peter
The circus isn't like it would have been a couple of thousand years ago - but they didn't have gc's then either
Count #0232 found at 1500hrs.Good GPS signal at GZ! One of the easier and relaxing find for the day. TNLNSL, TFTC
We had passed by the day before and there were hundreds of glass balls? We wondered why. On our return they were all in black plastic sacks. Why? Anyhow, we soon had the cache and signed the log. What a place of history. TFTC
Visiting from Florida. So far it's been a blast! I was so excited to come to Italy and visit all the great sites. We came be at night and it is really impressive. They were testing thousands of colored lamps for a special event. It was wayyy cool! Wish I was going to be around the see the whole show. Cache easily found, signed log. Thanks for the cache!
Third cache today here in very nice and hot Rome. Found it easily while sitting and drinking in the shadow. Greetings from Finland Tampere.
If only more remained of circus maximus. Just imagine coming to see one of these races back in the day. Would have been extraordinary. Thanks for the cache.
Found quickly as GPS pointed us straight to it with few people around on a wet day. Nice hide in an interesting spot. TFTC from the UK.
I'm visiting Roma for business (2 days) and vacation (2 days) from Saint Louis, Missouri, USA. The afternoon of the day I arrived, I took a walk from the Termini Station to the Colosseum and then Circus Maximus. I rested here and found the cache at 3:00 pm. Snapped a couple photos of the Cocky O'Bird TB at the cache. TFTC! Cheers! --F4 (Father)
Found, with two others this afternoon. I am from Maine, in the USA visting my uncle, who is a priest.
What an interesting place. We were on a short break in Rome and decided to go to the Circus Maximus with our GPS on. The weather this week was horrible and so couldn't get too far from our warm hotel room. But today was spectacular! The clue completely gives the game away so don't look at it unless you are really pushed for time! Thanks for the Cache. (Left Log only).
Found by the whole Penguin Clan this afternoon, and celebrated this as our 100th cache by meeting fellow cachers, Holsch, from Germany. Thanks for the cache - Penguin Clan from Australia.[This entry was edited by penguin clan on Saturday, January 20, 2007 at 6:14:59 PM.]
Ave Vericol! You have found a place which is rather safe for the cache and where you can log quite unseen from the masses of dogwalkers, runners and visitors. Thanks for a cache at one of Romes famous places!
Just when we were beginning to get disappointed for failing to find the Colosseum cache, we figured we still had time for some more before we had to get back to the hotel and guide a bunch of friends which were arriving to Rome.We had already scouted the circus area from far when we did the panoramic bus tour around the city, but it was definitely cooler to grab the sneakers and experience the circus maximus experience. When the distance got dangerously low, we spotted it without much effort. Perhaps a little over-exposed.There are multiple logfile sheets and the previous day logs where scattered among all of them. Confusing. We did no trade, but we left an IKEA pencil, since there was no writing material on the cache, and tried to hide it a little better. Hope if suffices. Thanks for the cache!Bruno & Sara (@ Portogallo)Auguri
Had to log at least one while in Italy! Log sheets are quite full. Well over 100 names, prob closer to 200!
This is a great site to behold. I found this in the middle of a great political rally by Sylvio Berlusconi's Forza Italia party. There were 2.5 million people but I was still very stealthy and no one knew what I was doing. I had a great time and this was one of my most memorable caches.
After a pleasant walk from Vatican along the River it was very nice place . The monumental buildings are really nice and very big like an another buildings in centre of old Roma. Very nice!
Fourth cache of that dayWe could spot it from a long distance…(thanks to the hint)Then we went on the opposite point of view to admire the great lanscapeThanksGreetings from BelgiumPierre and Anne

If it wasn't for the historical importance of this site it would be rather dull... However we tried to imagine the large races that once took place here, which made our visit more interesting. It's a pity so much trash is gathering here... TFTC, and greetings from Sweden!
Last one for the day. We have been watching this one for several months building up for our trip. Lots of historic info which can go on and on. Last day here in Rome heading norht to hopefully, cooler temps. 35-38 degrees here these past few days. Glad to have the trees to walk beside.TFTCGEM Team
Straight forward find. Grazie.Toby the Tortoise visited this cache but again, too big and so will continue sightseeing with us.
Found it before 8 o'clock in the morning. Had to wait some time, before the parking guard filled the road by parking cars. Nice sunny place in the morning! Left the TB 'The norwegian mummi' - on its way to Egypt! Sorry could not put on the lid. To next geocacher: The lid is loose!
When walking around I imagined horsecarts racing around just as in Ben-Hur.Thanks for the cache.
Spotted the location of this one straight away and retrieving the container was easy - we found the co-ords were pretty good.We were surprised to find the geocoin and have brought it back to the UK.Thanks for giving us a chance to sit down and have a rest from all the walking!!
Yes It was there. I try to be as much discreat as possible. Hope nobody saw me. The cache was well hidden in a beautyful place. At the time I found it a lot of people was jogging around.Greatings from Portugal
Thank you for the cache. The sibyl led me directly to the container, so it seems that I correctly read her oracle. I signed my name and continued onwards. Cheers!
Found it on a three days trip to Rome. Coordinates are pretty accurate.Greetings from Germany,David & Doris
Headed over here after the Colosseum cache - out earlyish in the morning. I'd been to the Circus Maximus before, but had forgotten just how big it was. Found it where it said it would be, and with a little shoelace tying it was retrieved and returned.TFTC
A fun cache. My wife and I came here from Fairfax, California, and we used our immagination to try to recapture what this spot might have been like. As ususal, my wife went right to it, while I might have made it a little more complicated.
Nice one to start the new year. Found it straight away although plenty of traffic around. Nice area.
Got metro from hotel to Circus Maximus, found cache quickly then walked onto Palantine hill, where took photo overlooking Circus and then visited Forum and Coloseum etc.The place is being left to get dirty and has rubbish all over it which is a shame considering its history.Difficult to imagine it as it once was.TFTC which is great to bring you to this less touristy location.TNLN SL.
A straight forward bag in a superb setting. Thank you. Note the pencil is missing and so you will need to take a writing implement to log your bag.
Found it!Strawling through Rome for a couple of days, this place was a must-see, and hence this micro was a must-do.Thanks for this one!Nothing in/nothing outLogged at 18:00Team Pesky
Found this on an early evening stroll, not to many people about, found easily with hint. Forgot my pen so couldn't sign log, so I left my ticket to the Vatican Museum in there to prove I'd been
