#24518. This cache wasn't part of the plan for tonight, but it turned out to be an old one, and sounded like something a bit different. So, after taking photos for the virtual we got the info from the chimney and set off for GZ. Nice quick find once there. TFTC.
While we were in the area for the nearby virtual, we decided to do this old multi. The info was easily found and co-ords calculated, StreetWalkerNZ went for a walk, but I was lazy (and the rain was threatening) and returned for the car. It didn't take long to find the final, which is a micro sized eclipse container. Thanks for something a bit different and TFTC.
On the Yorke Peninsula with the gorgeous Snap Happy and the lovely TheDame for a few days. We loved exploring lots of amazing areas and this was one of them.Gotta love a multi and a rusted out car! Thanks so much vitesse for placing this cache for our enjoyment.
**Found by Snap Happy** Out and about with GoodLook and TheDame as we were on Yorke Peninsular for the weekend. Today we completed a couple of Adventure Lab caches and a few scattered caches as we make our way towards Adelaide. The weather was cool but fine for the most part. The vistas stunning and I particularly love the bright yellow fields of canola (especially if they had old buildings in them). The coffee shops and bakeries wonderful and the company fabulous. Many laughs ensued as we made our way South East. The thing I love about caching is the interesting stories, the extra interest and attention you take when traveling, the sight-seeing, the history, the interests of the individual COs, *the fantastic photo opportunities* and sometimes finding places that even some locals dont know about. I, like most cachers, look for more than a mint tin or a container under a bush. I appreciate the time that most COs take to construct a cache and write up a comprehensive listing and to create an interesting cache. **I love traveling this big land of ours.** I love taking the roads less travelled. I love the diversity of the land, the different scenes in the different seasons, the fresh air, the open plains, the lofty vistas and the magnificent waters. I even enjoy the longer scenic walks although I'm not as young and as fit as I used to be. I love the different coffee shops I find. I enjoy the times I cache with others but I have usually cached on my own.I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with Geocachers like this creating them and placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues. Thank you vitesse for highlighting this area and for providing this game piece for our enjoyment. Appreciate your efforts. - P*Took*: Nothing but photos*Left*: Nothing but footstepsMany thanks vitesse for the fun and laughs.**Warning**, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to learning new things and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Cache on! **#19266**
Found this with my dad, The Garbageman after looking at some of the logs for a hint. TNLN TFTC
This was harder than the rating seemed with the number of stages in it, and a hide that didnt match the clue, but we got there, and enjoyed it enough to award an FP! Thanks. TNLN TFTC

Staying next 2 nights in Wallaroo. Getting a few caches around Moonta and surrounding area.
I'm in SA for the leap day Mega, some caching and a restful 5 day holiday. Let's see how that rest goes in the middle of so much new caching grounds!!! Today is day 4 and my top of Yorke Peninsula day. Lovely weather in the low 20's, cool and sunny makes for perfect exploring weather. So many old caches, and caches with great appeal to guide me around to see the area. This wasn't on my list originally, but I'm pleased I did look at what other caches were here. Sad when there are so many old caches in the area, a 2005 misses the list. But, redemption happened, and it was added, thankfully! This was indeed very straightforward and easy. it wasn't long or difficult to have the coords. Originally, I thought the hint referred to the more obvious, but I soon got that straight! At GZ, it took a little searching to spot the much smaller container... wow, that ground was hotter than GZ!
Found on the was past as we have a look around the area, camping a few nights over here. A nice multi, all is good here. Cheers.Find #6588 on 22 Feb 2024.TFTC vitesse!SAs Leap Year Event - GCA1DNA - Feb 29th, 2024. Keep the date free!
TFTC vitesse your cache Where's the engine? that we found today. Day 2 in Moonta. We tackled the many caches in and around the Mine Heritage area and other caches as we passed by. 21 for the time invested was a good few hours well spent. Thanks to the COs for placing and maintaining caches so we can explore these locations.A search but then we read a log or two .Find Count: 17806
This took a little while, and after reading some previous logs we did eventually find the cache. TFTC
An old cache, and I can remember this cache being on the list of Jasmer gap fillers for me. A fun multi. I didnt have any difficulty getting the first lot of numbers, but it did take a while to find the cache at GZ. As is mentioned in some of the previous logs, the cache is a micro now. A FP for the challenge vitesse.

We went on a real adventure for this one, across the dessert plains to the first destination, then the second destination....... got confused and included a fourth, fifth and sixth destination before finding the true 3rd location. Make sure you read the instructions properly as i did not.

I am trying to hit a major milestone in April and this weekend was my chance to get closer to my goal. Sir_spectre generously helped me find 150 caches and all caches were replaced better than found.

Well now the cache name makes alot more sense. quick solve/find.. Another multi closer to 1000, about 20 or less to go.
Found with Mogni. Mogni wants to get to 20, 000 by the Rutherglen Mega in Victoria and make that event her 20, 000 th. So we went out to complete the " THE Sad Fisher series " and stay in Moonta for the night. We got 150 finds for the weekend even though we started out at lunch time Saturday. Any damaged caches found where replaced with a new container and any logs found full or almost full were replaced or a extra scroll added. The weather couldn't make up it's mind, over 30 on Saturday and it rained almost all of the way home.

Had some fun looking for this one. Did take us a bit of time to locate. TFTC, let a path tag and travel bug.
Ah ha! You sneaky little blighter! I was just a hop skip and jump away when I got rained out last time I tried. I think the engine is stuffed mate. I can fix it for about $120k
After a DNF yesterday, went back as I felt I had missed something. Sure had. Much better luck today. Thanks
TFTC. Day 6 of honeymoon caching trip. Car fixed yesterday … gas cooker not working now! wrong connection type … so off to get that fixed!
Happy caching and safe travels!

Today is Good Friday. Public holiday plus fine weather, means go outdoor and geocaching on the way.
Today, I and J plus the little one visited Kadina, Wallaroo, and Moonta. We tried 10 caches on the way, and found 9 of them. It's a good mix of different cache types, including traditional, multi, virtual, letterbox hybrid, and lab adventure.
This is the seventh cache we found today. Also the first multi cache we found today.
Parked near the listed location. Walked to the waypoint, took a photo near there.
Then we visited the virtual cache nearby. After that, we drove to the final location for this cache.
Impressive final location.
Signed the log sheet. Took the TB.
Thanks for the cache, vitesse. One favourite point from us.
PS: The photo was taken near the waypoint. Cache is not there. Feel like "a frog in the well".

Followed the instructions but found absolutely nothing and the hint was curious. I was going to give up but decided to scoot down goat tracks in the sand dunes and see if anything looked likely. Well, *that* is certainly well hidden from prying Then the cache was an easy find.
Dropped off a trackable as surely this has to be a safe spot. Logged the cache. But suggesting it’s a bit further North (left) than as described

We are staying in Moonta for a few days which is giving us heaps of time for exploring and caching.
Loved the concept of this one (after having logged a DNF previously when we were newbies), and located the cache, sort of, after a bit of a search.
Unfortunately the cache is in total disrepair..found bits every where, but no log, just broken bits of container. Can provide pics if needed.

A bonus cache while in the area enjoying the history and chasing a ghost...
I missed the critical piece of info to start with and wondered if I was in the right location. On second pass though, something moved and I knew I was on the money. Info noted, I repositioned and did what I needed to do to calculate the final coordinates.
That done, I took a walk to GZ where I spotted something neatly hidden, and I hadn't spotted the container yet. THat was soon in hand though and while there is a little damage, everything inside is dry and usable at the moment.
I added my name to the log, tucked the cache back in place and hit the road back to the car. Pretty warm this afternoon so pleased to not spend to long hunting this one.
Cheers vitesse.

Today, the weather was forecast to be dismal with thunderstorms and a rain drenching! Consequently, gridge98 and I retreated to the more dry vicinity of Upper Yorke Peninsula. Other than a few drizzles, we had good weather. We visited Paskeville, Kadina, Moonta, Balgowan, Point Pearce, Maitland, and Arthurton, with highlights of the mining relics, 4WD-ing along the west coast beach, and finally dinner and heading around Maitland. A long day out and about, arriving home just after midnight.
We visited this location as I had wanted to complete the virtual cache, and hence I also headed past the required waypoint to obtain the clues for the next cache. We checked a few places, and it was only upon my detailed search, that I found the needed information.
We conducted the required projection, and made the short drive to GZ. A cool final location. We spent another five minutes looking around, until gridge98 (who had found this previously) found the nicely hidden container. Unfortunately, The cache container is cracked, but the logbook was still protected and in good shape. Thanks vitesse for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

I took a quick day trip to visit family in Wallaroo, foregoing a very close event. Only had time to make one find on the trip, so picked this older one. The old mines were interesting and we wished we had more time, but located the clue, projected to the final and identified GZ fairly easily. Finding the cache was more difficult, but it was located just before the point of frustration and we headed off to complete our journey.

Nomads travelling in their caravan around Australia. We have been on the road since July 2011 and discovered caching in August 2013. We travel with a bunch of travel bugs belonging to our sons and grand children. Where ever possible, we will maintain your cache as we travel.
We left Moonta this morning, but before we left, we had unfinished business out in the mines.
After talking with a previous finder, I returned to site and signage. Of course, today, I found exactly what I needed . Using the information gained from the sign, and the hint from the previous finder, we found what we were looking for.
Thanks vitess for a clever multicache. I will eventually get used to offsets and bearings.

Extremely hot today attempting this one with the 4yr old Geotwins. Clues on the signs were of no help to me. So common sense and a big walk and I found the obvious place. Then a bit of a search before the jackpot. Great size cache just a pity nothing much inside and not swapable for the kids today. Great old history here with the copper mining
Very enjoyable. Bit tricky to project a WP with iPhone app but made it work with some guesstimating. Nice sized final.

Owl was in the area for a history weekend and it could have become a song - on the first day of Yorke, geocaching gave to me... 14 lovely finds, 2 DNFs, 6 needed multis, 1 unknown and a partridge in a pear tree! Always nice to correct a DNF and this one is 3 years' old! This time Owl found WP2 straight away, though it took a lot longer to find the cache. How can something that big be so hard to spot? Has to be a favourite point, doesn't it!
Bit embarrassed to admit this is our third try to find this cache. Found gz easily enough with some help a couple of years ago, but couldn't find the actual container. Maybe we were focussing on a smaller container, I can't remember. Very well placed and decent sized container found after re reading some logs and being at the right angle (thanks Rex). The cache listing suggests a light brown lid, which is now blue.
This cache has been a target for some time due to its placed date back in 2005. With the demise of one at Murray Bridge, and the other 10 caches being quite remote, we were very happy to finally make this find. It's also a very cool spot and what geocaching is all about. Found with Seaeagle2 who has been here a few times helping me look. Many thanks for maintaining this wonderful cache and great photo opportunity

After a review of the geocaching map in South Australia it was determined a trip to the Yorke Peninsula would yield some significant numbers. So, The Rats, Hoojar and I teamed up once agan to tackle the many caches on the peninsula.
We started in the darkness after flying into Adelaide and the next day set some personal records (550+ caches in a day) and milestones before bunking down. The next day was another massive numbers haul which resulted in a bit over 1,000 caches in two days !
Then it was a little more sedate down to the bottom of the peninsula and then back up the easterly side, ticking off a few EarthCaches in the process .
After that, back to Adelaide for some night caching, virtuals and more EarthCaches!
The power trails on the peninsula were great- quiet roads, some great green wheat and yellow canola scenery, coupled with some great company and usual ribbing of each other [^]!
Thanks for your cache- sorry about the generic log. For the EarthCaches and virtuals look out for an email or two shortly.

This was a trip that had been some time in the making. A journey from Wollongong in New South Wales to the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia, in search of large numbers. Five days were set aside, and The Rats, Steeba, and myself planned the details out. Lofty numbers were floated; we could find one thousand geocahces... Maybe more! The world was our oyster, all we had to do was make it happen.
We flew into Adelaide and quickly rented our car, then headed off for a series of thirty letterbox caches late that night. We then set up camp, ready for the next few days.
Two days journeying down the Yorke Peninsular saw us collect 550 caches the first day, and 450 the next. One thousand caches in two days! The numbers were phenomenal, unheard of, and excellent! At one stage we found fifty caches in a one hour period! We worked ourselves into a solid routine, and managed to push these numbers without caching after dark. Incredible! We camped out beside the trail, ready to commence again the following morning.
Having reached our goal of one thousand, we rented a cabin and enjoyed a solid relax and beet, and we were then able to dedicate the remaining time to specific caches, mostly Earthcaches to keep Steeba (The Professor) happy, and a good number of Vrtuals as well, as we made our way back from the end of the Yorke Peninsular to Adelaide. It really became a Tour De Earthcache! If your geocache is such a hide, stand-by, as Steeba will soon contact you with our answers.
As is always the case with these trips, the company was the highlight, with banter non stop, the time went by in an instant.
We saw some amazing things, found some excellent caches, and had an absolute blast.
Ticking just over 1300 finds for the trip, you will have to excuse the boilerplate logs!
Thanks to all of the cache hiders for their efforts in placing and maintaining their hides. It was fantastic exploring this part of the world that I had never visited before. Thanks also to my geocaching partners, without whom such a trip would not be possible, nor fun!
Cheers

Today we decided to stay closer to home and learn a bit about the copper mining history of Moonta. Of course, we knew there would be caches at all the important places and we were not let down.
After gathering the clues for the nearby virtual, we returned to the start and commenced the hunt for this one. The clue was found quickly enough and the chimney examined. I confess I had to resort to Google for some device advice. Info was forthcoming, device was sorted out and off for the final we went.
Well..that was a suprise Great cache and a fav from us.

Found the clue easily then worked out how to set the device in the right direction. Found GZ location but on not finding the container used a PAF option to help. Eventually signed the log. TFTC
Find # 6124
Day 5
With the big trail finished we headed north to Moonta so I could grab the Virtual. From there our plans were to hit the Letterbox series and to grab some others around the traps while heading to Tarlee. With only 66 grabs today it felt more like holiday time with some great caches mixed in.

A Big week was planned to travel around South Australia, staying in Minlaton, Tarlee and Adelaide. We cache along a number of Trails, managed to grab a few off the beaten track, some well known caches and the odd one that
came up on the map as we were travelling around.
It ended up being a massive week of 2960 odd kilometers travelled, with day find counts of 25, 256, 361, 318, 66, 205, 104 and 76 (yep thats 1411 for the 8 days)
1062 micro, 238 small, 60 Regular, 45 large, 3 Virtual and 3 Other.
A great little multi with an awesome surprise at the end.

This is why I cache! I never would have seen this if not for caching. Fantastic short little multi. Loved it.
Found with FUF009.
Today we left the Peninsula and headed to Tarlee.
We visited many small towns along the way and the change of scenery was refreshing.
Initially the plan today was to finish off the Gone Fishn' series but we did that yesterday, so the plans opened up to branch out to Moonta so FUF009 could nab the virtual (I had already done it).
The only real goal was the Mail Run Letterbox series and the A seat for Janet virtual.
All the other caches were lovely to be able to find in our leisure.
Today was my favorite day so far. 65 caches found and nice to be able to take the side roads and dirt tracks.
South Australia is pretty neat!

Day 9 of the Perth to Adelaide trip with Barnzy12
On the homeward journey now and stopped in here to find this cache has filtering the list to top favourites in the area as there are simply just too many options out here.
Have a favourite point
We were lucky enough or unlucky enough to have one of the warmest streaks or weather in Adelaide in April ever with the temp above 33 for 3 consecutive days. On the peninsula it was up to 37 for the best part of the day.
vitesse We found your cache Where's the engine? thanks for placing this power trail for myself and others to find. It’s large scale trails like this that we have travelled for.

Day 9 of BarnZy and Cravo’s trip from Perth to Adelaide.
Today we left our accomodation on Warooka, a little later due to chasing some FTFs on the Yorke Peninsula late last night and one even into the early morning.
Our plans today was to complete the last of the Gone Fishing trail and travel via some of the country towns of the Yorke peninsula on our way up to Port Augusta where we are staying tonight.
Had a great morning getting right into the rhythm of powertrail caching, and managed to knock over the last of the trail in relatively quick time given we were a bit weary from the last two huge days on the Peninsula chasing some massive numbers.
Overall a great days caching, we really love caching in the country towns, travelling the highways of the country. Thanks to the local COs for their hides.

Today we explored Moomta and Wallaroo using Geocaching as a guide and picking up a few caches on the way and this was one of them. A straight forward multi, took a while to find, but Mrs "T" came up with the goods. Adding to our favourites.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Where indeed. Lots of footprints after this one. Good idea for an offset. Found during a 10 day stay on the Yorke Peninsula. Lovely area. TFTC vitesse. Found 8/10/17 4:56 pm. Cache 1352 for us.
Staying at Port Hughes for a week it was only fitting that we sample some of the locally grown caches whilst here.
Thanks for the cache!
