Fourth of twenty-six caches on my first day in Davis. This was one of the most enjoyable caches I've ever done, and it's going into my top ten favourite caches! [^] I initially started the puzzle as a 'couch potato' cache, but when I realised that the cache was in Davis, and that Davis is close to Sacramento, I resolved to log the physical cache during this trip. I was given a copy of Adventure (Colossal Cave) when I bought my first computer (an Apple ][). I loved it! I played various text adventures after that, but never really got into the Zork series, despite making several starts on Zork I. Then Wizardry came out for the Apple, with its basic graphics, and I never did a text adventure again (until now). My daughter, Emu-M, and I worked on the adventure but couldn't get past the first puzzle. Sad Yamar obliged with a hint, and we were away. We managed to complete almost all of the game, but needed another hint from Yamar to get the final 60 points.

Once in Davis I hooked up with the cache owner himself, and we walked the cache in reverse, starting at the cache, and finishing at the famous playground. I found the cache at 1005, and went on to find two of the other micros, but I forgot to look for the first micro! I grabbed The Puzzle Travel Bug TB, and will move it to a puzzle cache in Australia. My thanks to Yamar for a really enjoyable cache. I'm still thinking of doing something similar in Australia.

Well since I was in the neighborhood I thought that I would give it a go. Wink

Like I mentioned in the Z-Cache: Bonus Stage, I had the hardest time with this game. After more attempts than I will ever admit to I finally broke down and asked for a hint from [blue]TRAKD[/blue] (Thanks [blue]T[/blue]) I was able to actually earn points but after I got to 100 I got killed and was never able to get back there again. I finally had to break down and get a lot more help from [blue]T[/blue] and I FINALLY was able to get the needed information to complete this cache. As I walk up I see that the physical cache will also be tricky Twisted (Gawd not that stuff!) Razz But after spending about 5 minutes looking I was able to retrieve the cache - Woo Hoo - Happy Danceâ„¢!

As I open the log to sign I see that the O.C.G. had left me a little message amost 5 months - I was expecting this but I didn't know which cache it would be in! Thanks guys (and gals)!

Thanks for the fun - if not at times frustrating cache! -40-

P.S. I didn't see the Signal geocoin in the cache.

If there's anything I learned in 20 years in the computer game business, it's how to use a decompiler. Hit the area with retiredprof and 2Dee2Dee who had already found this one... so that helped a bit!

[B][PURPLE] FREE AT LAST! FREE AT LAST! THANK HEMLOCK AND KRYPTON, I'M FREE AT LAST![/B][/PURPLE]

Oh,...wait. I still have that pesky bonus cache to complete. Oh, well.

Thanks to Yamar and the Blue Team for holding my hand through this one. When it comes to virtual caching, I've decided I pretty much suck at it.

Big Grin [BLUE][B]Howdy from TRAKD[/BLUE][/B] Big Grin
“It was a Dark and Stormy Afternoon… WOW, what can I say about this fun cache [?][?][?] I was talking with “[BLUE][B]Rymer[/BLUE][/B]†just yesterday at the [green]RCGDS Event[/green] regarding this cache and how the [8] “[B]OCG[/B]†[8] will be getting together in a few weeks to play the game and then find the cache. Wink Because I had no luck on it by myself spending no less than 3 hours on it and only getting 10 points (very frustrating). Surprised Then when we discussed getting our families together for a caching outing today little did I know he was within just a few steps of cracking this case. We had tossed game hints and suggestions back and forth over the last few months but I never got ANYWHERE without “[BLUE][B]Rymer’s[/BLUE][/B]†hints, clues, and support. But, I digress… We plotted out our caches for the day and hit this one first. We parked in the “general†area and headed off to see if the “game†was real. Sure enough it WAS! Our reality and virtual worlds collided. Cool But, now we had the KEY! Within minutes we were searching what we virtually saw… very strange indeed. Then, “[BLUE][B]Rymer[/BLUE][/B]†blurted out those wonderful words… BINGO! The 4 kids gathered around pilfering the treasures while the two Dads were in awe of what was just found (the Moms were like… ok, it’s raining… we have other caches to do!). [8)] So, we signed the log, snatched the important information, and headed off for our next adventure. Thanks Yamar for the fun and THANK YOU “[BLUE][B]Rymer[/BLUE][/B]†and clan for an awesome day adventuring. Wink[green]Cheers[/green] Razz
