Unfortunatly this one has gone again!!!, so I will put it to bed and look for a location nearby.
Took a peek on Sunday morning and given the clue i was sure I was in the right spot. Sure makes me feel a lot better that it really wasn't there after all. It was not a good caching trip to Melbourne for ruzzelz
After just about running out of caches in South Melbourne I thought I would give a few city caches a go. The one common thing was that the GPS really doesn't like tall buildings.
I did however find this one after resorting to the clue. The police car across the road gave me a good cover to retrieve and replace.
Thanks chefs on the run for a great urban cache.

Found nice and easily with itrdc5 running interference. Returning it was another matter...quite a few uniformed pedestrians started wandering past...so we went and got a coffee before returning to rehide. TFTQC
Count #0073 found at 1455hrs.
Could not find a good parking and instead took a strange drive into the small lane and decided to park the car in a really un-usual location. We headed to find the cache with the direction given by the gpsr. 15mins later, we eventually found the cache just where I parked my car. Life is so full of such wonderous turn of events!

Have replaced this one it has been out for a while, hopefully who ever has been muggling it will leave it alone
Searched the area thoroughhly with Dak. Even after a hotline call to the Chef the cache could not be found. Sorry to say that it has gone again after only two days.
Replaced this one on Friday, got call from Dak on Monday saying could not find, had a look myself and yes it is gone again!!! Was there for more than a year never a problem but now muggled twice in a week!! will give it a break for a while then try again!
Tried this a few times today - the clue is specific so I was in the right spot still no luck... I will have another go over the next few days.
Found and retrieved discreetly at 17:00 (lots of muggles about) but fear may have been muggled already as only content was A4 paper with picture of dubious looking couple (sorry if this is the logbook and these are the cache owners ). Logged find on the paper anyway. Thanks Chefs on the run.
Found the drain pipe metal cover, but no cache left inside. Checked all the others to no avail, think its been mugged. Pity, came all the way from auckland to find the place too---glyn(the only one)
Much easier with a torch, found around 1950hrs by Pickupfamily Dad. Thank you Chefs.

Found at 7.30pm after attending a meeting in town on Spatial Science. I used to come to this part of town alot in the past when the Titles Office still had it's Plan Room next door. With everything now online there is no need to come this way and Land Registry not only had a name change but moved to Bourke Street.
Thanks for a great hide, at an interesting address.
Thanks for a great hide, at an interesting address.
Went searching for this one during the day. It was way to busy - heaps of muggles around! Came back at about 10:30pm and there was absolutely no one around. Found the cache without a problem, wrote in the log book and we were done. Thanks for the cache.
This isn't so hard at night! Found logged and returned without muggle attention.
A great cache. Found it at about 7:00pm and needed the dark to avoid being seen by muggles. If I just had an invisibility cloak. I took it a short distance away to sign the log but when I returned to the place there was a security guard there so I had to wait him out. Finally replaced it and I was off. A great cache real cloak and dagger stuff
Found at 12:20pm on a nice quiet Saturday. Had to resort to the clue. The old gates look quite out of place in front of a modern office building. TFTC!
Found after a long wait for smokers to do their thing. Glad I have smallish hands
Hi Chefs on the run
I'm pretty sure i was in the right spot, checked clue to be sure but couldn't find this one. there seemed to be a fair amount of rubbish in nearby similar spots so maybe a cleaner muggled this one??? o well, I 'll just have to come back next time I'm down from Sydney
thanks

Was in Melbourne on business for 2 days, so decided to check out if there were any caches nearby… Well, this one was 5 metres from the building I was working in, so how could I not seek it! Nice and easy at night, nicely hidden, TNLNSL thanks Chefs on the run!
Walked to this one from another chefs cache and found the stash straight away but getting it out was a tricky matter as previous hider had located it further in the awkward position.Eventually got at 12.30 pm,great hide ,sneaky location,no one around and thanks to the Vienna Bread kings for the challenge !!
My first cache outside of Western Australia. I would not have found it without the hint. Thanks.
I'm very confident that I found the location, thanks to the good information, and having been to that location on a photography assignment recently. However neither the clue site nor the others nearby had anything but smokers rubbish therein! My second such result today!
We found this little gem quite early in the day. Being a public holiday there were no muggles around so signing the log was really easy.
It was a really good thing that the cache information is so descriptive, because there's absolutely no satellite coverage here.
Thanks Chefs for the cache.

Surprisingly, when I parked my motorbike and got my GPSr out of my pocket, it had a satellite lock and it was reasonably accurate. All the same, I doubt I would ever have found this without the clue - using the clue it was an easy find.

Mad dogs and cachers go walking around in the sweltering sun! Thank God for businesses that sell drinks.
We used the clue as there was almost no sat lock here. When we found the hidey hole we almost pushed the cache out of reach! Yikes!

I'm real glad there is a good discription and clue on this one. The GPSr was jumping around over 300 meters when I was reading the listing wile stationary. Found it after a circumnavigation of the building. I'm sure the head Chef was out today.
Thanks Chefs

After a couple of attempts when there were lots of muggles around, I decided to come back this morning while the world was completing the Xmas shopping - and before I did mine !
Thanks the trip.

Found by djcache a short time ago.
Now at Organiser World getting Pocket PC bits and thought I'd abuse their internet connection & do my logs as their service is intolerably slow.
Interestingly as a footnote, I spent the day in the Ambulance Employees Association (Union) State Council meeting looking at our new MX Award and seeing just exactly how a State Government can use the system and the Australian Industrial Relations Commission to screw it's employees.

Woo-hoo! First cache in a different hemisphere! TheGirl and I are here on vacation, and, naturally, caching is included. After a morning tour of Melbourne we had some time to kill before an evening tour to Pillips Island to watch the penguins. Took the City Circle tram to the area and the GPSr quickly picked up a good signal, but the signal stregth varied as soon as we moved away from the park. In any case, we were soon in the area, which was crawling with muggles. We checked out the cache page and TheGirl twigged to it right away. Now it was just a matter of time for us to make the find. Not easy. The 2 smokers left, followed by a steady stream of passers by. When I moved in, I took a guess and found it first try. It was hard to get out of place and we were surpised by a muggle who appeared suddenly. We signed the log, waited for an opportunity, and I replaced the cache. We bagged it, but this one is near impossible to do with any sort of discretion during week days. TFTC!
Checked all three of the silver hidey holes and there's nothing to be found. The 2nd one has a full can of soft drink that's fallen down it. That could be hiding the actual cache container. A cache check could be in order. Nice area anyway. Thanks guys!
This cache has been on my radar for some time, but I've always put it off until a quiet time. Today was that day. GPS coverage was poor, so I decrypted the clue. I checked a couple of times but I couldn't see it. I thought it may have been muggled, but a check of the next object along showed that there had been some cache creep in the past.
I noted that this was #50 by the Acts2YouthGroup Assault time, so I rang Eric to check where they had found it - it was the same. So, if you use the clue and can't find it, check the next one along. Thanks for the cache.

Cache fifty of seventy seven for the day: in what we called The Big Assault eighteen hours of none stop caching.
Once again the GPS did not want to work. The hint did not match where we found the cache; we found it in the next one. We sat down here for a well earned rest as we waited for two security guards to finish smoking and move on.
Thanks for another cache.

Found at 8pm before heading home. Had tried this one on the way home from the footy on Friday night, but 2 muggles sitting close to GZ thwarted that attempt. Tonight was all clear and the cache was soon in hand.

Lucky we double checked this hide as the cache was craftily hidden, thanks chefs on the run.
Found today after another team was leaving the area... Saw from a distance a pair leaving with backpacks and a yellow GPSr which made the search a little easier for us (so thankyou to the team before us - forgotten the name).
Another great hide in Melbourne!!!

Found at 5.15pm as a GAFF1. We saw the Rostella name inscribed on the pillars. Thanks Chefs for pointing this site out to us.
Wasn't actually planning on doing this cache today, but happened to be wakling past it on my way to work and found there to be very few people in the area.
My only hassle was not being prepared by having a pen on me. Luckily, I found one at the bottom of my laptop case and managed to complete it. Mission accomplished.

Quick GPSless cache in an urban location. UBD and ozi pinpointed the scene of the action.
FOund on 13/08/05 @ 1520 AEST. I was in the CBD checking out Little Bourke Street when I remembered there were a few caches nearby . On a Satuday arvo this is a muggle free zone

Team Greydemon, consisting of only Demon Dad on a business trip from Roleystone WA found this cache fairly easily. The hardest part was the lack of a signal most of the time. I really found this more by the clues than anything else. As I had virtually no signal most of the time I was in Melbourne and used the lues for each of the three caches I went for I seriously doubt the point in putting caches in the city centre area, unless you can hide one in the middle of the Swanston / Burke intersection.
Neverthe less, many thanks for this cache, it was fun to find.

A slight detour when riding home from work saw me with a quick find at 18:10 (an ideal time as nobody was around).

Third find on my weekend in Melbourne. At least th GPS worked here not like some.Had to dodge the workman muggles.

Found at lunchtime, at a break between smokers. Right next to the courts! I think it's only a matter of time before someone gets arrested on suspicion of terrorism finding these city caches!
Our last cache after a long day of driving, caching, touring and caching, and a delicious pizza dinner. TNLN
After doing a close 'reccie' yesterday with a couple of geocachers from work, I set myself the task to complete this cache this morning on the way to the office. I, too, found that a particular part of my attire needed attention to retrieve the log, (credit to EuDes) and was on my way soon after (with key holder securely in pocket). A short distance away, I was able to complete the log and then return - looking for some item I "must have" dropped earlier. TNLNSL of course @ 0709 Hrs.
Thanks chefs on the run!

On a bit of a roll, this was next on the journey. Geko was really playing up but I was eventually able to find the gates. At various stages I was 0.75 m from GZ and 52 m from GZ (without actually moving ). Geko really hates concrete canyons and leaves on trees. Obviously the hint got a workout after which the find was easy.
The retrieve was a tad more difficult but some adjustments to a particularly pesky part of the attire had the nicely hidden cache in hand at 17:00.
TNLNSL. I stayed around for a couple of minutes after replacing it to ensure that I hadn't been spotted and all looked well. I’m amazed that at peak hour on a weekday there were so few people around. Don’t city folk work on cold and drizzly days anymore ??? Thanks again chefs on the run.

Geojen and I were in the city this evening to attend a Michael W Smith concert at Festival Hall. We arrived with time to spare and I thought this would be a great chance to pick up this cache having located it's whereabouts quite some time ago. I was just retrieving the cache when Jen is speaking to me in an urgent load whisper, "the security gaurds coming", which indeed he was. I already had the cache in hand but with him eyeing us with great suspicion, I couldn't put it back. End result the cache went to the concert with us and returned to it's hiding spot a couple of hours later. I hope no-one was looking for it between 7.15pm and about 10.30pm. If so then I'm sorry but it couldn't be helped.
Anyway thanks for the fun and stress.

After not taking the time to detour on Saturday, I thought I'd better get my stats rolling and catch up with all who hit my new caches on Saturday.
Interesting non-descript piece of history there.
Any easy hit for third cache of the morning, with a park right out side the lane. Just had to wait for a smoker to finish nearby to be able to replace cache.

I would never have guessed why the gates were there (except to keep the smokers off the streets). A nice bit of history.
Lots of muggles wearing black cloaks with badly combed hair.

Found by Mary & David at 1715, after the City Circle Tram Event and in company with GeoJo and Team Crackers. Amazing to be able to park so close by. Luckily a quick find so we could move on to yet more caches. Our thanks again to Chefs on the Run.
After a quick trip from Cosgrave cache we arrived at the GZ with not a sole around. The cache was found easily thanks to Michael who was doing better without a GPS.
Many thanks Chefs on the Run for another city cache.

Found at 4:55pm. Eighth of ten on our afternoon caching expedition to the city with Xfking. Found our way to the gate and spotted the likely hidey places straight up. Deserted today so an easy find.

Last of five CBD caches for the day. Once again, I dispensed with the GPSr for this one. There seemed to be a few possible hiding places for this one, and I found it in one of them at 1250, but not before being put off by the littering tendencies of the locals--you'll see what I mean when you get there. There were a couple of people in the adjacent building waiting for a friend, so I had to be circumspect. The friend arrived, they departed, and I pounced! Thanks once again to the chefs on the run for the cache, and for the excuse to visit the CBD.
Found by caughtatwork at 1:50pm.
Another CBD cache to add to the list. Slightly further away than Cosgrave, but still well within lunch time walking distance. Took off for this cache at lunchtime. Again the sky birds were difficult to locate as I weaved my way across town. As I approached the area though, 5 of them popped into existance, although mostly in a line across the sky giving a decidely less than optimistic EPE.
Still, taking to the carparks in the middle of the road, I was able to get a distance and bearing enough to spot some possible places to hide such a cache.
Looking over my shoulder to ensure I wasn't being watched, I spotted the cache and was about to retrieve it when I remembered my pen - back on my desk. Doh! So back to work.
With another meeting scheduled at 2:15 I left a little early and strolled past the hiding place. Remembering my pen this time I was able to finally leave my log.
Took nothing, left nothing (do I have to keep saying this).
Thanks chefs on the run. If you were overlooking the area today and saw a tall dude in a black suit, twice, that would have been me. Now to repay the caches, by a few hides of my own. Just have to get the act together.

killerbunnies' 100th cache is a FTF!
The 250m trek down the road from our apartment found us at the cache location, which was already very familiar to us. A brief search with the aid of a small headlight had the little beauty in our hands in no time, confirming our excitement that we were indeed FTF.
We had always wondered what the real significance of these gates were, thanks for enlightening us chefs on the run.
