A few months ago a cacher from Blenheim told us about the statistic in Project-gc about top archived cachers, and since then we have spent some time researching and looking for archived caches around our home area. We were parked up early last night and had internet connection so I had a wee look and was pleasantly surprised to see there were a few possibilities close to where we were.
I noticed that this cache had been found since it was archived so it was on our list to go and have a look for. We read the last finders log and knew it might take a wee bit of searching, especially as we arrived at GZ and saw the scale of where it could be. GK was doing a pretty good search of every nook and cranny when after about five minutes he said here it is, have a look in there, sure enough there is was just waiting to be found. The log was a wee bit crunchy, as though it had been wet and dried out a few times, but I managed to find a wee place to sign our names and we returned it back where we had found it. What a great way to start our time in Twizel. Let's hope the fishing is as successful. Thank you for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley.

Hello from England. After a great day viewing the mountains and glaciers in Mt Cook, we came back to our motel opposite the big trucks. They looked a likely spot for a cache hide so we had a bit of a wander and peer on the off chance, and thus were surprised and delighted to find this cache! We had to cross reference some previous finder names and dates e.g. Kirsty327 to find out which cache it was, and thus found it was this, archived one! We can confirm that the key safe container is still there, albeit not as per the clue. We will email the CO the exact location in case he/she wishes to unarchive it?
So...Thanks for the cache at the big truck depot! TFTC [5361]

I'll add my DNF to the list, but really did enjoy looking over the big boy's toys
No luck today and the clue sounded good but didn't help.
Several DNF's before us making us wonder... Added to watch list.

Found 9:48am , find # 1946
Currently travelling through the South Island of New Zealand.
Today we drove from Mt Cook village to Dunedin, through one of the most cache rich country areas I've seen.
Wish we had more time to get bigger numbers, but had to just choose random caches in places where we wouldn't lose too much time.
This was find number 2 for the day.
An easy find thanks to the hint. Interesting display.
Thanks Bitsprayer.

a great cache for the children. Surprised to find civil engineering machinery available for children to climb over. Dropped off my New Zealand geocoin and hope it can be moved around New Zealand and to be photographed at any relevant place.
On the way back from Mount Cook i make a short stop.
Nice maschines, but without hint very difficult.

After checking into our motel we went in search of some caches in the area. Found this one quite easily before heading to the pub for dinner.

The hills around Twizel were dusted in snow. I arrived at GZ and it started to rain. Luckily, I made a quick find and GZ was a perfect place to tuck in and shelter from the snow/ ice balls that were now falling. Completing the caching business, I made a dash through the snow to the car.
#1329 Found on a recent holiday to the beautiful South Island. It was one of many that we found in our most enjoyable 2 weeks there. Wow, some big machinery there. Had to wait while muggle and mini muggle finished playing on them before we could do the deed but it was soon done. Glad of the hint as we could've been there a very long time! Thanks again for the cache Bitsprayer.
After waking up to a blanket of white at mt cook, I continued my journey south towards the mega. Stopped in to have a look at the old trucks and grabbed the cache. Freezing cold wind today but a very warm thank you to the mechanics at Twiezel who helped get my van going after it decided not to start. Tftc
Awesome to have these machines lying around. Found the cache pretty quickly and then it was off to start the Tour de Twizel.

Well onto day two of my trip to NZ !!!
The aim of the today was to meander down through the center of the Island
covering about 200 km from Geraldine to Alexandra visiting a few touristy spots and picking
up a few caches on route.
I had heard that it was a scenic drive, but was still totally wowed by the diversity of
environments on show. Some quite incredible places.
I was well pleased when I arrived at GZ and saw the challenge ahead.
Lots of possible hiding places. I was expecting the cache to be a Nano,
and that really would of been a challenge.. but found something a little more generous.
Would of LOVED to have stayed and explored the town a little more but it was not to be.
Had urgent business further South (more Caches ???).
Cheers for bringing me here and seeing just a little of the town.

Travelling in our Geo Hire Car with the Aussie flag flying (almost Aussie ribbons now ), tends to attract a few comments from muggles, we were heading from Geraldine to Alexandra.
We didn't leave till nearly 9am but also didn't arrive in Alexandra till nearly 8pm, with lot's of caches picked up enroute and a lengthy stop to enjoy the scenery and a coffee after lunch.
This route was suggested to us on the local forum and we have to say, thank you very much for the information, it has proved to be a great day of epic proportions. Scenery has been fabulous even though quite cloudy for most of the day, still so much to see, enjoy and we took 100's of photo's.
Hmm Twizel we had never heard of Twizel until Tuesday. Unfortunately we had limited time today and this was the only cache we had time for in town. with accurate co-ords though it didn't take long to track this one down.

The excellent clue made this far less of a frustrating search than it has the potential to be! Thanks for that, and for placing it within walking distance of my hotel . I was quite fond of the Euclid truck driving through the pipe , but was left wondering about the machines. It's a pity they don't have more information here on them. TFTC, Bitsprayer. =^.^=
Imagine that - a key hide and no key so couldn't turn the engine over. Caching activity seems to be hotting up as Mega gets closer. It seems each cache we find has had recent finds. NINO TFTC

A nice quick find and only about 100 metres from our motel room. The town is justifiably proud of their brief history and are a very friendly lot. TFTC

Good to find this one, as i was among many who looked back in January when it had walked.
3rd find for the day. What a great hide!!! Found this one in the end. Some paper was found on the ground from the cache, so placed it back. On honeymoon. TFTC
With help of hint an easy find and fun for geokids. Afterwards stopped at salmon farm.
Heading home to CHCH from a conference/holiday in Queenstown. MArking our progress with the odd cache or two. Wee wee dude (2) was asleep in the car so couldn't stop for long - make tracks while you can folks! ha ha. Quickly cornered the cache before moving on. Cheers.
A tricky hide but Mr My little story found it while I mucked around with the clues and the GPS. Great to see how machines have changed over the short time as now days similar machines are HUGE.
