We will return. No luck today. What a lovely spot tho.

We found waypoint 1 quite easily, but no luck with waypoint 2 Sad

04-Feb-17
Searched to no avail at waypoint 1. Does not look like first cache is there

02-Dec-16
Although we enjoyed our walk here on a cold but sunny day, we were unable to locate the container at WP1 despite searching for about 15 minutes, and hence not able to find the cache.

Windy walk but beautiful! Tftc.

22-May-16
Found it.

11-May-16
First morning in Tassie on a 10-day sight-seeing trip, enjoying the scenery and natural beauty.
4th DNF of the morning, despite a 30-minute search at WP1. At least the views and snow made it worthwhile.

Having run out of caches on our favourite route north it was time to pick the remaining few. So on a breeze early morning we scratched around until the WP was located (go with your gut). Before braving the wilds. Reading the clue I think we could of saved time right from the start. Was interesting to see the lake chopped up and yet just past the small rapids all was claim.

Australia Trip, Day 27 of 49
Tasmania Trip, Day 11 of 12
On Cache tour with Theatralis.

Wow!

English Log: (translated with Google Translater)
We still wanted to visit a cave in Tasmania. That's why we made this afternoon a tour to the Marakoopa Cave. Then we still went to the Liffey Falls. On the way back to Devonport we made a large cache tour. Among others, we visited the Great Lake. Because our ferry was started very early on the next day, we still got a few caches in Devonport evening.
Wow! What a great location! The sun was setting when we made the cache. Unfortunately, we were looking for a long time at the first station. After 25 minutes I had but found the right part. From then it went faster and the final we had a few minutes found the can! Very well hidden;-) Thanks for showing this great location!

15-Feb-16
Oh my giddy aunt!! What a day to come up here for this one! Found the first one and were frozen in the attempt and then with the coords for the second one now in our hands we didn't want to back out of finding it, just because of the weather. It was bitterly cold and the fog was thick and the wind was ice! It had been nice and cool in Deloraine, shorts weather Smile Anyway, off we went. We found it but it took a while, luckily I spotted it as hubby said 'bugger this for a joke I'm going back to the car'! We signed it and put it back and then ran the distance back to the car as fast as two sixtyplussers could run. We have never cached in such cold. When we checked the weather app it was showing 'felt like 1.6' up there. Fav point given as we'll not forget this one, our coldest cache ever!! Well, not for us any scenic views but I have put a couple of pics up of what we did see! Remember it is still summer!! By the way, you do not have to get off the boardwalk to find it or sign it, so please don't leave it! And put it back carefully for the next cacher Smile TFTC Smile

We've now only got five weeks left of our six month stay (til the end of March '16) from the Kurrajong area, (Blue Mountains) NW of Sydney, to tour in the caravan and also visit our kids and grandkids in the Huon Valley Smile On four previous visits before this visit, we were muggles, so we're having fun finding the caches we didn't even know were here! Smile

What a great location for a cache. Such a serene area (at this time of year anyway).
We enjoyed the nice easy walk to GZ in the midday sunshine.
Thank you for the cache by michaels mob.

22-Jan-16
Nothing much on this evening so headed up to the highlands to find a few caches that we missed last winter due to the heavy snow falls. Found the first container pretty quickly with the phones GPS, but had to bring out the proper GPS to track down the final cache. Once the coordinates were entered, we headed off along th walkway enjoying the beautiful surroundings. Once at th GZ, the GPS lead me straight to one particular location, so we concentrated the search there, and soon had the cache in hand. Found the contents have survived the long and cold winter and were nice and dry. Beautiful location with the sun setting behind the peaks.

Although we didn't find the cache in the end, it was lovely walking along the boardwalk reading about the area and admiring the rugged beauty. Thanks michaels mob.

27-Oct-15
Sadly, no find for us today, though we did enjoy the walk and the information boards and the view. I couldn't reach waypoint 1 without leaving the boardwalk but managed to find some clear rock to stand on, so didn't damage anything. Down to waypoint 2, though, and we just couldn't spot anything cache-y and certainly weren't going to go tromping around on the delicate flora here on the off-chance we'd spot it. A pity, but at least we enjoyed one of Tasmania's 60 Great Short Walks! Thanks anyway, michaels mob. =^.^=

23-Oct-15
Arrived at WP1 located the container and made our way out to GZ. Beautiful location the King Billy pine trees were magnificent.
A little searching was needed before we found the cache.
TFTC.

05-Oct-15
GPSr just wasn't settling and finding WP1 proved somewhat difficult and had to revert to the hint. Enjoyed the walk along the boardwalk and again struggled to find the cache, very well hidden away in plain sight. Superb lake views and in awe of the glacial powers. Some remnant snow on the peaks on this lovely sunny day.. thanks..!!

Travelling around Australia, from our home in WA.

Another lovely day with sunshine!

Such an exciting day seeing Liffey Falls, The Great Lake, and Snow!!!! WooHoo. (remember in WA snow is almost non existent)

Beautiful location. Had to trek through the snow even up on the boardwalk. We saw people walking on the frozen lake but we werent game to be doing that.

24-Jul-15
It was a bleak day with blowing sleet but we stopped anyway to stretch our legs and check out the boardwalk. There was ice clinking on the lake in the wind, so we quickly found the cache and headed back to the car before hands got too numb!

23-Jul-15
We had tried this one previously without luck. Saw that it was back in action and stopped for another look.
We loved the walk and scenery last time. This time the view was different with the lake half frozen and sheets of ice surrounding the platform. Just amazing!
Found the cache fairly easily, but taking the gloves off to sign the log was a painful experience!
Thanks michaels mob, we love this boardwalk and area. Gets a fav point from us.

Thanks for replacing this cache sscharlie. Found on trout weekend at liaweene

17-May-15
Found on a trip to the Trout Expo with SScharlie, LizzieJj and Proxy_babe. Found WP1 under rocks and Replaced WP2 Cache Container.

17-May-15
Have replaced the wp2 container
Shouldn't have any trouble finding it as its close to where my gps says it should be. Camouflaged and just hanging around.

29-Jan-15
Great pity that WP1 has disappeared. Great area with incredible pre-history relics so we feel the cache should be reactivated.

10-Jan-15
Sadly I did not find the cache Sad but I did find Pencil Pines and that made me happy. WP1 was found but the final cache I fear may be missing.

Thanks for bringing me to this beautiful location michaels mob.

05-Jan-15
DNF for Bedmaker and I today. It's a pity because it's a top spot.

05-Jan-15
We read all the DNF logs but since we were stopping anyway to have a look at the lake we searched anyway.
No luck for us finding any wp or the final.

27-Nov-13
Nope!! WP1 is a piece of paper under a rock and probably wont last long. Pretty sure we found GZ but there is nothing home.

19-Nov-13
Found half of the paper with the coordinates for the second part, so the first one seems to be destroyed. Guessing the second part would be at the end of the walk we searched there for a while, but couldn't find anything. Nice place though.

14-Apr-13
I'm working in the area and wanted to find this one, but searched high and mostly low, couldn't find it. I might read back a bit further in the logs and see if another clue comes my way. On the way in, I enjoyed the walkway and the info on the boards. Thanks for bringing me here michaels mob.

12 degrees with a further wind chill factor of 4 degrees were braved by our group in order to find this cache.
Shock/horror. None of us had a writing implement to record our visit in the log-book. Thistlecat took a photo of cache to prove that we actually had made the find.
Thanks michaels mob for putting a cache in this very attractive place.

18-Jan-13
Tasmania in summer brrrrr! We practically sprinted along the boardwalk to find this one only to realise that between six of us, no-one had thought to bring a pen! Hope this pic will suffice!

06-Jan-13
Finding this one did not cause much problems, altough I had to go back to GZ to pick up my GPS when I was almost back at the car Red Face. Thanks for (re)placing the cache at this quite pretty and pretty quiet place!

*** WP2 REPLACED***

Day 4 of our escape from the NT trip, seeking some relief from the tropical build up

What an absolutely beautiful spot, well worth a fav point for this place. We had no troubles with WP1, then headed off to WP2. After a lot of fruitless searching, we then read old logs to find that it had gone missing. Because this is such a great place and really worth going to, we did something we don't normally do and replaced the lost final with another cache we happened to have on us at the time.

***NOTE WP2 IS NOW A MICRO TEST TUBE YOU NEED TO BRING A PEN TO SIGN*** We found a log sheet someone had place in WP1 and put this in WP2.

The hint sort of still works but a new hint from us is: A bolt gave its life for this hiding spot.

Another very pretty place with interesting information on the old trees. Winter would be great to see at some stage all in the white. We found WP1 and with its new log as others have. We made the walk to the lakes edge on the board walk with no one else around. TFTC

The GZ at WP2 appears to be missing. Spent a hour trying to locate with 4 of us on the lookout.

Found WP1 no problems. Could not locate WP2. Lovely location and lake.

Like all the other cachers before us, we tried but didn't find the cache at WP2.
Nevertheless a great spot in a beautiful area.
"Zo zie je nog eens iets" Thanks!

20-Nov-11
Found the first one easy but the may not be there any more great spot though

19-Nov-11
We like so many others found WP1 but not WP2. We noticed that others have claimed the find so we will as well. Maybe this one needs checking on. Thanks michaels mob for the cache.

03-Oct-11
Owner really needs to check the whereabouts of the final cache. If, as inferred by the hint, you do need to leave the oard walk to get this cache, it shoud be moved, as leaving the boardwalk is definetly against the instructions from Parks and Wildlife (the managers of the area).

24-Sep-11
Found WP1 easily enough, but after an extensive search, I couldn't find the final cache, and thus I couldn't sign the log book, therefore this is a DNF. Not sure why so many people are logging this as found when they state that they didn't actually find the cache. Suggest the owner checks the final cache on this one, and maybe reminds all the people who are looignt he find that they actually haven't found it as they haven't signed the log book.

24-Sep-11
With some help from two experienced geocacher friends we located WP1, but six of us together searched everywhere for WP2, with no luck - even though they had previously visited this one. Would love to know if it was actually still there! Still, it was an hour or so well spent, as the day was gorgeous, and the kids are keen to try for another...

20-Sep-11
Found by touring team member C. TFTC!

16-Sep-11
Nearly forgot to log this one! Easy find this time, although cold and snowing. Very glad I didn't try too hard last visit. Under the special place was also under a foot of snow last visit. No hope! Had a quick look for way-point two but was too cold to try too hard for something that almost certainly isn't there.

16-Sep-11
I wish i had read the other logs before heading of for WP2. It was blowing a gale and snow was coming down. Spent too long looking for WP2 and had to run back for the safety of the car.

11-Sep-11
Like the other logs we couldn't find WP2.Out and about with Tassie Trekkers. WP1 was under the special place as per hint. Walked out to the platform and searched and could not find the cache.Fishermuggles arrived so we left them in the wind and the cold and headed back to the warmth of the cachemobile. Ran into the CarrollEyres in the car park looking for snow (and car keys).

11-Sep-11
Found WP1 easily but not WP2 it was a sunny clear day but the wind was icy. Ran into CarrollEyre at the car park and picked up a hitchicker (gnome). Travelling to Hobart with whitewebbs after the Geosport Event in Devonport.

22-Jul-11
This should almost be a "Did Not Search". We couldn't locate WP1. A lot of snow and muggles so we couldn't get too serious but from reading the logs it doesn't sound like WP1 usually gives trouble.
Will try agin next time we pass this way. Hopefully with less muggles about!

11-Jun-11
Heazle1 this was a lovely stroll a few slippery parts but made it through. i reckon i was the foot prints from previous entry looked high and low no second cache. After no luck will.mott stepped in as already has this one and its not there.

11-Jun-11
As per the instructions logged a find. Beautiful cold day with a first dusting of snow. Looked high and low to no avail for the 2nd cache. Evidence that we were perhaps not the first of the day given the footprints. Hesitant to walk too much off the boardwalk to find as the vegetation is very sensitive. Lovely spot for a stop, a snowman and a few snow balls down the back. TFTC

22-Feb-11
I stopped at a lookout just 4km from here to check if there are any caches nearby on my drive from Hobart to Launceston. And what do I find? What a nice place. When I got here, I found the microcache (WP1) at this very special place (with the hint) even without getting out my GPS. At the other end, there was no trace of the second cache, but I still log it as a find as requested by the cache owner.
Rather large fish was constantly jumping to feast on insects hovering just above the lake surface.
Thanks for this little walk in a very nice place indeed.

TFTC, Timbuktunext

If anyone searching for this cache are unable to find WP2 PLEASE still log it as a find as it’s a place your not likely to re-visit… Will get it replaced (if missing) ASAP

Found Wp 1 OK, no luck with WP 2, had a good look with no result

17-Jan-11
What a fantastic place, the boardwalk is excellent, the pencil pines marvellous. Found the 1st reasonably easily (once we read the hints) but try as we might could not locate the goodies cache. Thanks anyway, love the location.

28-Dec-10
Teen M found WP1 easily and off Mrs M went to find the cache. I spent at least 30 mins doing all sorts of contortionary feats from on, over and even below the boardwalk but no cache to be found. Very disappointed as the rest of the walk had been great. Sad

03-Nov-10
The sky was blue, barely a cloud in the sky but a rather chilly wind - still many patches of ice on the boardwalk. The view was excellent and the information interesting. WP1 was a quick find. When at WP2 it took only a few minutes to locate the cache but, try as we might, we could not retrieve the cache without, as suggested, leaving the boardwalk and treading on sensitive vegetation. Thanks for bringing us to the area - without the cache, we would have probably just driven by.

22-Oct-10
Let me say that this is a wonderful place and this is how I imagine Gondwana Land looked. Found the micro at WP1 with no problems. We followed the boardwalk and read the information plaques at each point before reaching WP2. This is where we ran into trouble. I think we searched for 45 minutes to an hour and came up with nothing. At least we learned a few things and experienced another extreme of Tasmanian wilderness - and climate (coats and beanies were required!). Hope this hasn't been muggled (or drowned) so people keep visiting this awesome spot. Twisted

Just love these Pencil Pines! We first attempted this in the morning on our way to the Central Plateau Lakes for a fishing trip - but there was too much snow!! Couldn't find WP1 so we had another try on thye way home in the arvo - this time the snow had melted. We wouldn't have found it otherwise - not sure where it was meant to be but it would have been buried in about a foot of snow! A lovely spot, and a very easy and pleasant walk thanks for bringing us here.

20-Jun-10
Managed to get back to this one quite quickly but it was dark again when we arrived! Persevered this time and managed to extract the cache under torch light while getting wet feet! Not sure how this can be retrieved without leaving the deck in it's present position? The water level is quite high as well so expect to get wet feet without suitable footwear. Took some great photo's while it was so calm and just the right amount of moonlight. A trout jumped and splashed right next to us and we both levitated at one stage. Think this place would look great with a good covering of snow, we will be back.

We did WP1 today. It was dark and blowing so hard and cold when we arrived we decided to leave the second half for another day when we could see and not freeze! We will be back soon.

08-Jun-10
It was awesome to find this cache. Thought WP1 was very cleverly hidden. Amazing walk along the boardwalk, got some great pics. Will have a fish there one of these days.

30-Apr-10
Great little spot, freezing cold up here on the scenic route from Hobart to Devonport. This was my last cache in Tasmania, and a beauty, though I had trouble convincing my wife to come along for it due to the cold and the fact we had to meet the Spirit in Devonport. Glad we did though, it certainly feels here like you're in the last place on Earth, a land time forgot. Had a little trouble locating the cache but got there eventually. Took glitter, left packet of seeds. Also took Underwater Geocoin on its way. Thanks for the cache and thanks to all Tasmanian cachers for a memorable trip. I will return!

03-Apr-10
Took a weekend drive throught the highlands and stop for a stroll and a look for this cache. Both waypoints of the Multi-cache are cleverly hidden, well done, enjoyed it! Left Under WaterCaching Geocoin, TN, signed log.

After an aborted fishing trip (due mainly to utterly demoralising weather) on the other side of this lake, we tried our luck at catching a cache instead and were immediately rewarded for our efforts. Fortunately we also got to see this lake on clear days either side of this one... so we got to see what a spectacular location it is. TFTC.

Last time we were here there was snow everywhere. Found micro fairly easy. Took some time to find 2nd cache. Clue was helpful and finally spotted it. Left nothing taken dragonfly.

A great cache on a beautiful first day of summer. Took us a while to find 2nd cache. Very innovative. TNLN Thanks

Sometimes you just know when a cache is going to be a good one... and I was right. Quickly found the micro and was on my way. The pencil pines were quite photogenic with the lake in the background and the frogs at GZ seemed to be enjoying the day as well.
Took a lot of searching to finally nab the container, dunno, it was the first place I looked.
Thanks for the cache michaels mob, loved it.

01-Nov-09
WP1 was easily found but hard to retrieve. Headed off to find the cache with the new co-ordinates. Looked for a while but when I reread the clue found it quite quickly. Lovely warm weather and clear skies today.

25-Oct-09
The mirco was a easy find,We had a short walk to main cache which was found quickly.tftc

25-Oct-09
My second go at this one, and found ok. It was the muggles we had a problem with! We were yet to replace the cache when a family came along and didnt look like they were going to leave anytime soon! So after a bit we decided to reveal ourselves! They looked trustworthy and they even asked for the website! Thanks Smile

03-Jul-09
This was one of the only caches that defeated us on our Tassie Trip. It was getting dark, the winds, the snow and ice almost pushed me off the boardwalk and it was that cold that the swampy marsh next to the boardwalk had frozen over and the zip on my jacket had broken off. This was just too much for me and I went back to the car.

03-Jul-09
At freezing point, saraci.jaee braved the icy wind to retrieve WP1and Indiana08 offered to locate the cache despite the breaking night, snow and ice on the way. He came back empty-handed. The conditions were just too dangerous to proceed, even for this tough, teen-age cacher. Will have to come back under better conditions.

24-Jun-09
Left the Spirit of Tasmania this morning and returning to Hobart via Lake Hwy stopped to find this cache. The first way point had me stumped but once I had it had no trouble finding the cache. TFTC.

Found the micro, no worries, it had a few holes in it so I taped it up. As I was doing this the fog lifted I didnt realise that the lake was right in front of me! Set off to find the cache, nice walk. Fantastic views over the lake and to the mountains with the fog rolling all around. Ok that must be my excuse for not finding it, the fog, hahaha. Could not see it and didnt want to get my feet wet! Oh well, another day maybe.

31-Mar-09
cold day today, but still a tranquill spot to sit and relax

13-Feb-09
Surprised at how many muggles were around; the Lakes highway is popular it seems... Fair bit of stealth required to retrieve and rehide both WP1 and the cache itself. Really enjoyed the stroll through the ancient pencil pines and the information boards were quite interesting- had no idea the cushion plants were that old!! A very worthwhile cache, thanks very much!

Interesting little walk.
