*Cache find # 14702.*
I was wanting to clock up a few k's on the bike so I can get it in for its first service and then start riding it normally so I checked out the map to see where I could go.
This cache has been sitting on the map without a smiley for a very long time and I still don't understand why I haven't already found it, but I haven't, so it was time to do so.
I ended up adding 155km to the total and found the cache after a short search, so it was a good trip and this cache finally has a smiley on my map.
**Thanks to Team Crackers for placing this cache.**

That's a nice boulder. Took a while to find but found it eventually. Had to do a runner as a hoard of march flies came on the attack. Swapped some swapables. Thanks for the cache xxx
Thanks for the Cache Team Crackers,
In the area collecting a couple of Caches, I thought I'd take the small detour to nab this one as well. A small walk from the main road took me to the GZ and some views through the gaps in the trees. It was tempting to see if I could get up the fire tower for a 360 Deg view, but the fencing was quite impenetrable. Those fire watchers must be very dangerous people for these precautions to be made to keep them in.
Cache is dry and in good condition.
Regards from Victourer

I grew up in Beenak not far from here, the story I heard about Egg Rock is that the actual Egg Rock was blown down the hill by a couple of blokes using dynamite. I do recall a big part in the bush where the rock rolled down the hill. I believe you can still see a bit of a part where it went down the hill. Interesting debate I guess. But anyway TFTC and bringing back here, I still remember when we could climb up the old tower when someone was there. It was all ladders back then, but my word what a view. Wish they would have days where they would open it to the public.
Lovely view from the rock, can only imagine how good it would be from the top of the tower. TFTC.
We have been told this area is still out of bounds.
We will check it as soon as we can get in.
We will check it as soon as we can get in.
You might want to check your sources as this part of bunyip and Kurth kiln parks are significantly outside the fire areas and are open to the public. As are the roads out along blue range, and bunyip ridge.
Paul the Hippy has kindly advised us that this area id unaffected and our sources were incorrect.
All good to go again.
All good to go again.
After quickly finding the cache that I had targetted for the day, I still had some time for another. After driving half way to another cache I had my eye on, I wondered if there was any other caches on the way. Parking I quickly discovered that I had just driving past this one. With just enough room to do a u-turn, it was a 1 kilometer drive back to this parking location.
After a nice walk up the hill, I spotted the tower, but was unable to see any view. So instead I went looking for the cache and with great coordinates it was quickly found in good condition
Thanks for the cache Team Crackers

Out and about enjoying some sight seeing and finding some quality caches in the parks/forests today. After a nice walk up the hill we saw glimpses of the view but the wind was chilly on the south side. What an amazing view and another spectacular location on our day trying to familiarise ourselves with these roads. We’re a bit surprised it’s taken us so long to explore this area. Thanks so much for the cache. We left a pathtag.
Out with Macca19 for a lazy stroll ()
This one is was on my list for a LONG TIME, mainly because I see the fire tower driving to work everyday but have never come up.
I would SOO love to climb it and see the view as it must be stunning. Anyway off we go to get a few more.

Have had the privilege of climbing the tower on many occasions here and the views are amazing. I’m surprised I have not grabbed this one earlier
Found with dad, my sister and my best mate on a 4WD adventure trip around the area. Enjoyed the walk up the hill. Didn't enjoy all the flies.
Well last Sunday GeoJosiah and I headed out in this vicinity to have a look at an old walking track that I know of that doesn't have a cache along it. Unfortunately Zoe, the Disco slipped in the mud and crashed into the bank of a rather large puddle that we were going through and copped some panel damage and some electrical circuits didn't like the water too much either.
Muggle Mummy was not happy.
After letting Zoe dry out over night and through the week replacing the damaged panels I was told by Muggle Mummy. No more 4WDing.
What?
No way!
Anyway, that didn't last long as one of GeoJosiah's friends was staying over last night and I suggested that the next morning we go 4WD exploring. Both boys were in for it, as was 18 y/o GeoStepdaughter. Muggle Mummy wasn't happy and I was told that if Zoe came back with any damage at all, then that was going to be it.
So I was especially careful...
Most of the time....
Anyway, this cache was actually on the list of 3 caches that I was going to attempt on the very first day I ever went caching. Over 6 years ago. But I ran out of time because caches back then took a LONG time for me to find.
Its been on my itinerary a number of times over the years, but for some reason or another its always been the one overlooked.
Today it was the only one on the list, so myself, Geostepdaughter, GeoJosiah and his mate al enjoyed a lovely drive in, followed by an nice walk up to the cache. The flies ruined GZ for us, but the rest of the day was filled with great 4WD adventure.
TFTC Team Crackers, always nice to know one of your caches off.

A spot of caching after a nice lunch to celebrate ClanMagee's wedding anniversary!
Not much of a view anymore, for the trees, they do grow high around here. But a lovely spot nonetheless and we enjoyed scampering around the rocks. Not far away, a lyrebird was making quite the racket, doing many impersonations.
Quick find, cache in good condition. Made a swap for a TB. TFTC, thanks for bringing us to this secret spot!

A quick and easy find after a short hike as we cache our way through the area today. I tackled this one while Geoturtle37 waited in the fourby, as she was feeling sore by this point of the day. Thanks for bringing us here and thanks for the cache.
Was up here 28 years ago it's a great spot back this time for a cache found easy because co-ords are spot on... TFTC

That would be right, just as I got out of my car, the rain started. Never mind plod on got to the top and those eggcelent views weren't there. Got to GZ and had no trouble finding the cache. Back to the car and the rain stopped. Thanks Team Crackers
Found while 4WDing in the area with friends, gates where open so easy drive to ground zero.

Missed the track being open by about three weeks, a good walk interesting area we saw several tree stumps with signs the old way of logging cut into them we added a photo of the holes for anyone interested. The holes were cut and lengths of wood slid into them the axe man would then climb up higher cut another hole adding another plank climbing up again and so on until at the preferred height to fell the tree ( sorry I don't know the correct terminology) TFTC geo son found it

Quick find amongst the rocks. Further down the hill are some big rocks that rock climbers practise on.
Pity the trees have grown to block the views from the ground.

only just realised i havent logged this. went up while camping at kurth kiln with family and sons friend. they had a great time looking in the rocks for this one
Out on a 4WD adventure with the son in law and picking up a few caches at the same time. Eggcellent day out. SL left a little Christmas cheer.
Found it with LankBrown having a great ride through the Bunyip. This cache is a nice size and in excellent condition. We put in a Thongs keyring but took nothing. It's great spot for lunch. Hoping to get a few more mates up here to make a whole bunch of logs and goodies for the cache. Thanks for getting us here
Nice easy find after a quick stroll up the hill cache is in excellent condition pity there were no views today except of the tower which is still interesting tftc

I hope this is the one (its my first): Bunyip state park. 4wding up along the tacks. Someone else had found the cache and tipped the contents out: I found a plastic prism and a monkey from a chain. I had nothing but a handful of change and a padlock key. Reassembled the cache and hid it again.
The best views this morning and excellent point!!!! I have to say and the biggest cache I have seen for months after finding some in the City areas of Melbourne. What a cache! Thanks as otherwise I wouldn't have come to this wonderful point! TNLN
Wow what a magnificent day to do an epic cache run!!! We saw everything from Shooting Stars to Cars in Creeks. We meandered towards Cardinia Reservoir through the hills to Cockatoo, into the Bunyip State Forest before heading to Pakenham for some night caching and then home. Kay and Tee both had good caching foo today and nary a cache avoided us.
A nice walk up the hill to GZ Kay made the quick discovery, Log was signed then we headed back down the hill again

Find # 1824
Today was another cache run with mu caching partner in crime sedgwickDave. Although it would be more difficult style caches today. We were headed up to Belgrave, then to Emerald and Gembrook. The weather was quite ok, although quite cool.
This was definitely the last cache for us today, we parked near to the gate and walked out way to GZ along the track in the semi darkness. Luckily I had brought the torch. It was amazing when we got to the top of the hill how light it actually was. We found the cache without too much trouble.
Thanks again to Team Crackers for the cache My third of yours for the day. Took Pathtag, left Key Chain cache.

Was out caching with best mate ahomburg today thru the Emerald, Gembrook and Bunyip forest areas trying some of the harder caches in the region
This was one of a few caches found today in the Bunyip forest and on approach we had a tree blocking the road so we had to move what we could to continue on. After building a small ramp ahomburg was able to get his car over and pass this obstacle. We would had to turn back if I was driving the geoyota.
We were heading back and was passing by so stop to attempt this one. It was also the final cache found today. It was now dark so we missed out on the views at GZ. Still a nice hide regardless.

After spending Australia Day in the area, me and the boys were back for more caching in the area. The plan was to do some caches in the Kurth Kiln Regional Park and work our way down through Bunyip State Park and to see how far we could go. It was quite warm at 30 degrees but under the cover of the tree canopy it wasn't too bad.
We had a great day, working our way through the area along many dirt tracks, stopping for a 'picnic' lunch along the way. The boys had a great time and were awe struck at some of the spots we eventually ended up at.
The boys had a great time climbing over the rocks before we found the cache and signed the log. We didn't climb the tower but I will be back at some point to do it. There was another car in the car park and we soon were waving to the bloke at the top of the tower, the views from there would be ureal.
Thanks Team Crackers.

After travelling here for the easter long weekend it would have been rude not to complete an egg cache
The walk to the summit was grand.
The view not so considering the amount of regrowth around, however i'm sure it would have been great from the tower.
Further along the well hidden cache was found.

We continued on from the Post Office to this cache. About this time we ditched Tom Tom (otherwise we would still be up there and you Team Crackers might have got a midnight phone call) and used the net book with the Vic Mosaic map. That was much better and we could navigate our way to the next cache with ease. After a short but steep walk up the hill from the road we inspected the fire tower (no one there today) before wandering over to GZ to have a look for the cache. Whilst I was looking around in the leaves, I heard that familiar cry from Daff, " I found it". Thankfully she had and we were able to then wind our way back to the main road to continue driving south. We also took a TB that had been sitting there since July 2010 it would appear.

Way back in 1994 a bloke name Crackers gave me a job as the fire tower operator. This lasted 3 years before I moved to another tower. Pete took over and is still their. If he is their give him a yell and he might let you up the new tower. My tower that was egg yolk yellow has now been replaced. Left a bug.
Found this one at 1130 during the Land Rover Club of Victoria Gembrook day trip through the Bunyip State Forest.
Still foggy up in the hills and the views were somewhat restricted.

Have done almost all of the 4x4 series around Bunyip state park and got around to doing this one while out 4WDing having our first look out here since the bushfires went through the gate was open so there was no walking involved we think the tower may have been manned as the generator was going, good to see that this end of the park didnt get burned and that youve replaced the ones that did alot of devastation from the bushfires out here but glad to see that its recouperating nicely TNLN TFTC Team Crackers

We were in the area and thought we'll check if the roads are open again, happy to report that the all roads leading to GZ are open and clear of any fallen trees.
The cache was safely found and the content items were dry, even after the recent rain. A new pen is needed, so we didn't sign the logbook.

Hi nomex,
We realise this cache has been off line for awhile but after the fires of Black Saturday we are waiting for Parks Victoria to reopen the tracks.
We have been told this area could be open in November and we were planing a trip there on the 10th to see what is going on with the track.
We should know with in 14 days if we can put this one back on line.
Thanks
Mark and Diane.

We have just been informed by sevillegroup that the road is blocked about 300mt from GZ. We will re enable this cache when the roads are re opened, may be not until November.
Aborted cache hunt after finding East Beenak Road was closed within 300 meters of GZ and a warning from the Park Ranger that we would be fined if we entered the area.
Thanks Team Crackers, for taking us to very pretty area.
We will return once the area is reopened to the public.

Found at 1135 hours, could have had this a little earlier if I had driven the right way first. Thought I needed to turn around after doing Beenak Post office, but I was wrong as I headed down this road and then turn here, I can't take my geomobile down that track.I think I will leave it for another day, so headed to Ship Rock Falls carpark. Arrived at carpark lets look at a map, There it is, so of I go back past Beenak Post Office cache to this one. Next time listen to what TomTom says. Anyway arrived a the gate, it was closed, so wandered up the track to GZ, found the cache. Would have like to have been able to go up the tower, to take photos.

The X-Trail took the road from the Post Office easily enough although it was amusing to see how wrong the Satnav was! At gz I had to walk in due to a closed gate but the stroll was most enjoyable. The cache was an easy find with good coordinates and the views through the trees well worth it. Thanks muchly Team Crackers.
This was our first find in over a year.
We were in this area looking for a place to go hiking soon.
Parked at the gate and walked up. We got passed by a car on the way and, after finding the cache, found the gate open when we returned to the car.
Took wrist band, left telephone card.

I had pre arranged with the fire look out officer to take my Cub Scout Pack up the tower to see the sunrise. It was magnificent. Whilst the rest of my team were cooking bacon and eggs on the bbq for the Cubs, I stole away unnoticed to find the cache. I was surprised that it had been so long since it had been previously found. I took a rubber ball and left a bracelet.

Found by edmil & maddie. This was our third find for the day. We had just finished Emily's 1st birthday cache and thought this one was close enough to go for. It would also give us an opportunity to give the 4x4 a go. We arrived at the cache area with about 190 metres to walk. We decided we'd take a bit of a break here so we also lugged the thermos up the hill for a cuppa. Of course the cache was first on the menu and we had it hand pretty quickly. TNLN. After the find we kicked back, listened to the bird life and enjoyed a great view with our cuppa. Thanks again for a great cache.
Found with springs51 after a short walk up the hill. Great views and a quick find. TNLN. Thanks Team Crackers.
Dear Team Crackers,
We found your cache today in company with XFKing at 11:15am as the first cache of twelve on route to our Tour de Warburton VIII. See XFKing's log for description of loony mountain bike riders. The fire lookout tower was manned today, so just as well we didn't drive up. We all converged on the most likely spot and a quick circumnavigation showed the location. Thanks for the cache. Now onto the next cache which is also at a fire lookout tower.

Found with Team Rabbitto 1st out of 12 found on a day of caching in the hills.
Starting off with this cache today we had initially drove down the wrong track. In the middle of the road was two very insane young men who came to S's fourby and asked us if we knew where he could find a place to do some good jumps twice the size of a 4wd. We didn't know but were told that they pull pushbikes at 90kmh to do these jumps.. And yet the rope they use to pull the bike is only 2m long.. We thought that they have got to be joking. But once we found the correct road to the cache we parked at the gate and walked up. A nice find in an area that I was planning to place a cache about 1 year ago. Thanks for the cache from M.B

After, knocking blast from the past of my list I could not resist heading for this one. I was unsure of how rough this part of beenak road was, but the Geo Getz coped fine.
I have known aout this spot for many years but have never made it out here to check it out.
Thanks for bringing us to this great view so close to home.

After picking a reasonable route in, I walked the last little bit cross country from the locked gate. The GPS led me around for a few minutes, but once it settled I started looking in earnest, and was able to locate it soon after. Its a lovely area, and I imagine that the views from the tower would be awesome.
No trade was made. Thanks, Team Crackers, for showing me this great area, and for the cache (of course).

Found at 3.25pm GAFF5. maccamob found the cache quickly and unfortunately that means that it is a GAFF5 for us. Saw some of the view, but the trees are really in the way. Took: Playing cards, Left: Snap lock. Thanks Team Crackers.
Found by Mary & David at 1525, in company with pprass and sbalogh53. An eggcelent spot and a great cache. It is three weeks today since Mary's knee surgery and she managed the walk up from the gate without a limp, so we were delighted. Loved the rocks, and the views were splendid but limited by the trees. Took magnetic clip, left mini tennis ball. Our thanks to Team Crackers.
We are not Bill and Ted but it was an Eggcelent adventure.
Anxious to give the Hilux a run we took off to the Bunyip state forest and decided on the long way to this cache, this was not via the normal road.
Arriving at the GZ we were greeted with a locked gate and decided a nice easy stroll was in order to the cache.
Now comes the Eggs. The views were Eggscelent, and Shelby was in Eggcelent form and found the cache easily, with an Eggstatic “found itâ€.
We left the cache and headed along the SEC track to do some more mud holes and slippery tracks and upon reaching the main Beenak road were greeted by a locked gate. Damm no tools so the Coffee Clan backtracked to another exit.
Many thanks Team Crackers for the Eggcelent Cache it was a fun to say the least.
Regards Mr.Coffee and the “Eggcited†Clan.

First to log but not first to find. Didn't think I was going to do any caching today but found a little time - main problem the GPSr was at home. I had read the listing a few days ago and have been there before and had the privilage of checking out the great view from the top of the old tower. Headed up and found muggles working nearby. I don't think they even saw me. After about ½ hour of searching I found the cache in a place I thought I'd already looked. The search is somewhat wider with no GPSr

Admired the view of the seting sun and as I was replacing the cache the muggles locked up and left. This area has been on my list of cachable places for a wile.
I have been told by an old muggle that THE egg rock no longer exists as it was blowen up by muggles many years ago.
Thanks Team Crackers

I had forgotten to log this one until it came up in coversation the other night. While Vombatus and I checked out the sites we Team Crackers snuck off. When they returned they handed us a set of coordinates. We followed the GPSrs to GZ where Vombatus came up lucky. Co ords worked cache found all happy, now off to find another four wheel drive track.
Thanks Crackers.
