Time I think for this one to "Bee" archived.

11-May-09
Please consider moving this to somewhere away from the bee hive. It is only about 20 cms from the entrance to an active one which could prove dangerous to someone, especially someone allergic to bees, like me.

11-May-09
found this one, could see it but didn't go near it. It is about 20 cm from the ground level entrance to an active bee hive and could be very dangerous. Need removing to somewhere safer.

Man I earned this one, out on the MTB but got stuck on the wrong side of a wasteland, then stuck on the Roe (No cops thankfully), braved the Bees and found a nice clear spot. Then discovered I was on top of an Ant nest. -Giraffe + Woodthing

Hadn't read the previous log entries before finding the cache, so we didn't know the bees were permanent tenants. Anyway, we didn't bother them and they didn't bother us. Thanks for the cache paddyK.

A quick grab and a dash to get away from the over-friendly neighbours. T; GC, LN. TFTH.

24-Mar-09
WanderingAus wandered by, sniffed out the methane powered generator, and followed the gas hoses to make a very easy GAFF 1 find.

My find No 1308, LCC, TNLNSL, dropped Eddy, the fastest GC (ref = TB1DPPX), also dropped my WanderingAus Happy New Year 2008 Gold GC in for a visit before grabbing it back again.

The suggested carpark (S 31 58.596 / E 116 00.001) should be added as an "Additional Waypoint", would have saved me trying to climb the fence 160 metres from GZ before reading the cache notes.

Our 3rd Cache find. One of the natives in the tree got bit too friendly with my elbow, oww Smile, otherwise nice spot. Introduced Wayne & Shauna to Caching Smile TN, left stubby holder. NicZA, Shazzam, Wayne, & Shauna

We were in the area visiting a friend and with her 14 year old son for company I embarked on a mission to grab this one. Like everyone else I quickly realised why the bees are an issue as they are pretty much right at GZ however they left me alone as I quickly grabbed the cache ad retreated, then retreated to do the swaps and log the find. Reading the logs showed how the bees very much form part of the history of this cache and I bet they keep the muggles at bay. An iteresting cache. What is the go with the pipes and sprinklers nearby? TFTC... Dropped Jay Jay TB in for a visit

28-Jan-09
I don't know how, but when I collected the cache I totally missed the bees, in fact I wrote in the log, No bees to be seen they have moved on.

Well after I packed up the cacheand walked back to the area, I was greeted with a swarm that had popped out to see who it was that had made all that noise. Being very brave (holds breath for some reason) a quick duck into the area to rehide, a couple of bees landing on me made me run away (a small yelp Red Face ) like a skittish school girl! But all is back as found.

TNLN thanks for the hide, an interesting area, shame about all the "extra" rubbish being dumped.

[I expect you would be pleased to hear that the bees are all doing fine and kept all but the bravest "Mog" at bay].

There was a flying saucer sitting just outside and in the open next to the GZ. I put it on top of the cache inside its hiding place. I hope that was OK with you paddyK

revisited the cache site with mrs blingg. the bees were still resident in the tree but mrs blingg being braver - or is that sillier - than I, walked in and grabbed the cache. The bees didn't seem to mind the intrusion but became curious as we stood nearby. retreat to 10m distance solved that problem.
took trackables, left gc. tfth

Not being partial to beestings (not the cake type!!)I decided that it would have to wait for another day

24-Aug-08
I know it's an old rubbish tip but it's still well and truly in use by illegal dumpers. Gz has attracted more than it's share of garbage and the frequently reported bees are still in residence next to the cache. I notice too that the original flying saucer that sat atop the cache has beamed itself back to a galaxy further afield. I may look at archiving this one soon.

Dropped by today to drop in a couple of travel bugs that I just couldn't seem to get an opportunity to drop off earlier or somewhere else more appropriate. Recent online log I noticed not reflected in cache log.

Dropped off: "Roonwicket" & "Bernie" travel gnome TB's

Easy find, lovely flowers, nice friendy bees, ugly rubbish...

Found the cache without any hassles. Actually took the easy option as there were workers at the Gas Generator I drove on by to grab the cache. Plenty of water about and plenty of rubbish as well!! Added a new bag to the cache as the old one was well and truly past its use by date. Cache though is in good order.

Thanks for the cache and hunt, PaddyK

ARRIVED : Gallagher the Travel Bug Rabbit to enjoy the bush environment for a bit.
DEPARTED : LADON #093 GC

Well we should have taken a photo of me at this one. I wanted to grab Northing TB so went straight after work and well yes - high heels and business suit. Must have been a good look dodging around the puddles trying not to get stuck. Not to mention trying to do it fast as the gates were open when we went and so as I was dressed that way we decided it would be easier to drive up. However, the whole time I was panicking that we were going to be locked in. But success was had - done in style I say!

Once done and we had the car back on the other side of the padlocks we walked back the little way to check out the generator, which Gav was totally in to. Might need more of them soon, with the gas crisis.

Now those who are allergic to bees go in the evening. I actually wanted to see the bee hive as I find them fascinating but alas could't find it and not a single bee around to give us a clue as to where they were hiding. So we will have to return during the day to catch them.

Thanks for another great cache Paddyk!

Been on my "To do" list for ages, and as i intended finding the Captains Reserve (which i did) afterwards, today was the ideal opportunity.

The guardians of this cache had a Buzz worse than its sting thankfully, and after the quick grab, a more leasurely exchanging of TB'S and Geocoins took place.

Great weather today, and with the other cache mentioned above, it involved a pleasant walk around these unusual surroundings.

11-May-08
I was singing this song the whole way to the cache, what a great movie. To think it all started out as an April Fools day joke on the radio, it caused a huge amount of panic at the time. Hubby had no idea what i was singing though, he thought i was just going mad. Well i am but that is a different story.... I remember when this tip was active many many years ago and the stink that used to blow over the area. Phewey!!! I was intrigued to learn about the electricity generator though, it could change the way we do things now, just imagine our recycling bin hooked up to one of these generators and then hotwired to our house....hmmm!!
Anyway to get back to the point... we found the cache easily but being alergic to bees made it more interesting but i got hubby to do the ol' army crawl under where they were swarming and none of us got stung.

It seems to be a working rubbish tip. At GZ we found a lot of rubbish, the bees and finally the cache.

I had my eye on this cache for a lunchtime grab for a while but today seemed appropriate due to the bee-autiful weather!

Had I read the other logs carefully I would have known that it had a big bees nest adjacent to it!

However - they weren't interested in me and I nabbed the cache and took to the car to sign the log.

Took: Earthcache Geocoin
Signed log.

Very hot day today (over 40) and the gate was open so I took the easy option and drove in. The bees were there, but they weren't bothered by me grabbing the cache.

Gate was open today and no hoons about. Found the natural feature. Bees still in force protecting the cache - or are these little martians?

Thanks PaddyK

The bees were busy but I was able to miss their flight path and get the cache. Walked away to sign it and careful not to agitate them put it back.

After reading the last 2 logs I was I bit dubious about this one especially if I had to hoof it in the rain, but as luck had it the gate was open and no bees were about and could park 15m from the natural feature.
Thanks PaddyK

We parked on the main road and walked across the oval, through the gates and along the path. Was interested to read about the electricity generator and it sounded to be working well. Continued on until we came across the natural feature but it was more like "Bees Attacks" than Mars Attacks and so we didn't continue on with the search. Oh well it was a 1.4km walk that we otherwise wouldn't have done.

Thanks for the excercise! Smile

If were in the right spot the natural wonder is swarming with bees at ground level.

The natural wonder was also charred (is this new?).

Either way we couldnt get close enough to have a good look. Given the walk its a bummer to go all that way empty handed. This was our 3rd DNF in a row for the day!

Paddyk - time for a visit (make sure you dont smell like pollen or wear a yellow shirt!)

Had a quick look while working down the road and took Face sheild & left mini tape keyring Thanks

Last of twelve finds on my last night in Perth for this trip. My luck was in with this cache, because the gates were open. I managed to drive to within 50m of it. If I'd had the guts, I could have driven to within 10m of it, but I didn't want to risk getting bogged in the sand at this time of night. The cache was remarkably well hidden for such a remote location, but I rehid it just the same before I left. I made no exchange, but grabbed the DIGGER Travel Bug. Thanks to paddyk for the cache.

OUT: DIGGER TB

What a day! Blowing a fierce gale and pouring with rain... tried to access cache between showers but still got drenched! Surrounding terrain rapidly turning into lake so going very hazardous. Took TB Blackbeard and left TB Digger

15-Aug-06
Dropping off "Blackbeard" TB.

11-Aug-06
Parked at the suggested carpark and walked in, despite the gates being open. I only became aware of the bees AFTER I had retrieved the cache Red Face I guess my movement in the area must have stirred them up? Nice cache in a dubious area [^]. Took a Geocaching key ring and put in an emergency resus mask. Checked out the power generator a little closer on the way out. Interesting [^]. Thanks PaddyK

06-Jul-06
Dropped in to grab "Blig's World of Geocaching Geocoin".

Left a PaddyK geocaching Down Under Keyring.

6.15 pm and all the little bees were asleep so had no problems there.

ps I also left a geocoin.

Just re-logging caches i have done under a different team name (3BlindEyes)

22-Apr-06
While we were doing the waypoints of a multi-cache, we diverted to this cache as it was close by. We found rayjacko & the navigator at GZ, so we introduced ourselves. Good hide and we enjoyed the walk around the area. The bees didn't bother us, they have a hive close by, but we didn't get too close to them. Took nothing. Would have grabbed Everlastings Balloon Geocoin, but we didn't see it. Left 2 Travel Bugs. The Ghost Of Paddyk The Pirate King TB and Everlastings very nice Turtle Geocoin.
Thanks for the hunt paddyk.

Found today, I was able to drive right in and park about 60 mtrs away, I followed the arrow for a while until I saw the bees, then I knew I was in the right spot.
I took the container a safe distance away to write in the log, I traded nothing but left a travel bug.
I used to ride here on my push bike years ago when I was a kid to go through all of goodies others had dumped.
Thanks for this cache

Called in today to swap travel bugs.

NOTE: There is now a bee hive right next to the cache at ground level so approach from the south side so you don't walk into their flight path out of the hive.

Quick return visit to drop off "Sunshine" TB after a long Christmas holiday at my place.

Bees as previously reported are still in evidence at GZ but if you approach with caution and don't panic you should be OK.

Located with Tastyworm - See below
Thanks PaddyK for the extra mini-cache!

26-Sep-05
Found with Suitman.

Not the nicest of locations, but we found the cache fairly easily. Dropped off the DuneRat Travel bug as this is right near the airport and DuneRat wants to travel to South Africa. Tastyworm left the boomerang keyring and took the padlock. Suitman left the stress ball and took the pillbox keyring.

We also found a note in this cache about The Green Man being in the vicinity. We took the note as instructed and found the him some 170 meters away from the cache. A big thanks to Paddy K for a cool cache and add-on.

07-Aug-05
Extra incentive to find this one, PaddyK hid my finders badge for PaddyK006 and a bonus prize for the boys nearby.
As for this cache, pointed toward an object I thought was a likely suspect and let my youngest boy go look, found after a minute, he's lower to the ground and spotted the hidey hole quickly.
Then on to search for the finders badge, approached an obvious log but as we neared the stream of bees from the nest within made me rethink my choice. Turned around and took a back-bearing and sidestepped until I was standing next to a much smaller log I hadn't seen. A quick search within uncovered the badge.
Lastly a longer trek to the third location, while I sent the boys via a track I followed the compass, directions were spot on and I could see the target from 30m away. No fighting over the DragonballZ figure (SS Goku) this time as we agreed beforehand who would find this one.
Many thanks to PaddyK for the morning's exercise.

I better mention, L: 40mm padlock, T: Boomerang keyring

A nice easy find. Parked near the gates to power station and walked in along the old road. Quite straight forward. TNLNSL. Thanks PaddyK for the exercise.

Bet Dad to this one. Found easily after playing in the sand pile. Took the tape measure and left a new Pansonic GD35 mobile phone leather case. Thanks.

29-Jul-05
Almost drove past this one while heading a bit further south. A good quick grab to avoid any chance of an abduction. It wouldn't do them any good anyway because they are too late ... did I tell you about ... ah, doesn't matter, you wouldn't believe me anyway!

17-Jul-05
Typical hoons hangout. Nice story line. left stapler took toy spinning top. cheers

12-Jul-05
The gate was open but we walked from the road. Still wasn't far. Our shoes got packed with clay and it hasn't even rained lately. We were a bit apprehensive about the bees but they seemed to mind their own business. T: Jeep TB L: pen

What was I thinking! A solo walk in at 9.00 pm! Spooky! I could've been abducted by aliens and no one would ever know what happened to me.

Dropping off "Jeep 4X4" TB and now as the man in the ad. says "go hunt him down!".

Found - on the way home after a days TB hunting and dropping off. The gate was open, so I was able to drive right up and park next to the cache. An easy find too, but beware of the bees in the burnt out tree nearby. T: a cache card, badge (4th prize) and a flying saucer. L: a 3mtr measuring tape. Thanks to PaddyK for the cache and the fun.

I went past to check out the methane-powered generator on the way home from work, expecting to see a little engine like the one I've seen operating as a demo unit in a Sydney tip.
Instead, there's this big hut and several pieces of industrial machinery humming away busily and, apparently, putting real power out onto the grid! A much better use for anaerobic bacteria's farts that contributing to global warming!

Was relaxing before tea, when heard a commotion out in the computer room, Chwiliwr was getting ready to go out, that was not happening without me so I grabed my boots and jumped in the car.
Got to the cache and we were in luck the dreaded Bear_left hadn't been, YIPPEE!!!
(Lucky Belken had left us early)

Took TB Lith-ee-um
Left nothing as nothing was small enough

Having seen this appear as I started closing down some browser windows I initially resisted looking at it and just printed it out, then got to the work I was supposed to be doing but a slow connection allowed me to actually read the description and I couldn't resist it so told the other half to delay our meal as I was going out. Gwiber, advised by the other half, insisted on coming too.

On the way it rained heavily until just as we parked the car so the walk to the cache was dry apart from all the puddles on the track. I walked right up the the cache location and was searching for the actual cache when, splash, Gwiber entered a nearby puddle and nearly dropped the IPAQ and GPS into it.

After telling her that it couldn't be in the puddle the cache was located at 6PM. I had nothing that would fit into the container so I left nothing but took the clone and the gold badge.

Thanks Paddyk for a cache and the FTF clone.

"All your cache are belong to us!"

PBL got home, switched on the computer, had a glance at the "new local caches" bookmark and was met with something _other_ than the usual red "nuthin' new" message!
Donning wet weather gear, we were out the door as soon as we'd printed out the page, looked at the coords in Mapopolis and called up the satellite view in GoogleEarth (where you can just about see the cache itself!)
We took the shortcut in, relying on The Illuminator to light the way and dry out the greenery. There was a hole in the fence at just the right point, as luck would have it. (There really was; we didn't make it!)
We walked up to GZ and spent the required few seconds looking for the obvious hidey-hole. What?! A single log in the book before us? Then why were the gold _and_ silver finder's tokens taken? Oh, it's Chillyrear and Grabber keeping it in the family! Big Grin
We took the lowly bronze medal and replaced the cache, before heading back out and home to a fire and hot lamb casserole.
PBL plans to go back and check out the methane engine in the daylight sometime soon, since he drives within about 100m of it most days.
Thanks for showing us this detour 'on the way to destruction', PK!

I come in peace but I'm not so sure about my little "friend" LITH-EE-UM The Manic Martian who is now recovering in the cache from his crash landing. Seems he's had a little bingle in his flying saucer.
