By the way... I can now probably spoil the joke I made with the name of the cache: the container was made from an old Apple Macintosh LC computer, camoflagued with black spraypaint.
Thanks to everyone who said they enjoyed the adventure finding the cache!

Unfortunately it looks like my first cache has been muggled.. I was doing a cache maintaince check today, and only found fresh footprints in the sand and mud no more than a day or two old.
I expect that the rains of a fortnight ago exposed the hiding area..

Took a while to find this one, recent rains looks to have flooded it again.

Good cache. Need a few skills - balance, GZ skills and ability to combat the odd mozzie, lol.

Teamed up with Shonkylogic for a bit before they headed back to Adelaide and also Craig's local friend Gary. Bit tricky but found after a search of the area. Hmmm nice container. TNLN. Thanks cjb.
Unfortunately we didn't have time to check out the rail tunnel, which was disappointing. (Perhaps someone should put a cache inside it .. hint hint). A very nice area though, and its good to see the container being re-used! TNLN.
Found this one with Roanish. BBBBBBIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGGGG mutant spiders inhabit this one. Made our own track (for some reason we completely missed the path talked about in the hints). Good fun this one. Very tired from todays efforts.
I am happy to report that c.j.b's new container is indeed water proof.
Nice cache, now i know where black apple got its name. (It all makes sense now).
TaiLander and myself approached from the railtrail rather than the great north walk. Which wasn't the right thing to do, because it meant jumping the boardwalk fence, and clambering down the easterly bank.
Eventually we worked out where we were meant to be and found the cache safe and sound.

Thanks c.j.b

I've repacked the contents into replacement 'should be waterproof now' containers. I managed to recover the logbook too, although it does look a bit worse for wear.
Ooh, it was nastily flooded. Apologies for not attending to it earlier since I was on holidays.
The contents have been recovered for drying and cleaning, and I'll restore the cache in a few days.

Yeah I found it! My very first geocache. After a bit of mucking about with my GPS, I arrived at the point on the bike track nearest to the cache. My dodgy old GPS (a borrowed GPSIII pilot) was pointing 40m to the east, a very steep hill and thick Lantana
After a bit of averaging and a wander back and forward along the track I saw the sign for the Great north walk and remembered the hints from the site (note to self: write down ALL hints in notebook). I found it relatively quickly after that.
Felt a bit strange wandering around looking for it. Passers by were looking strangely at me fiddling with my GPS too I suppose you get used to it after a bit of caching.
I regularly ride this track so it was cool to know there was something hidden close by all this time.
Filled out log, took a map co-ordnates converter (thx steel-rat) , left a plastic SCUBA diving kiwi and my pencil (the ones in there were soggy). Yep the log is also soggy.
Thanks c.j.b.

Naturally I stupidly followed the arrow and took the "I-hate-Lantana" track in from the car park after doing "G'day beautiful", only to find the bike path meets the road nearby - doh!
The biggest problem I had was trying to close the container after doing the biz. There is probably one too many items in there. The log book is slighly damp as well.
What a top spot. These rail trails are such a great idea.
TNLN.
Thanks for showing me this spot, I'll have to bring the bike up here sometime.

Unusual spot for a cache.

Thanks, whoever placed this one. Can't remember your name! *ducks!*

Found at 4.55pm GAFF1. Made a meal out of this one as I didn't notice the clues as to which side of the creek to search. After making the wrong decision, I had to make a leap to the correct side and then found the cache soon afterwards. A nice container which makes sense. On the way out I noticed the aid which I presume has been placed by the cache owner, however I still got wet shoes as the creek was flowing quite strongly after yesterday's rains. tn/ln Thanks c.j.b
A great cache to finish a successful days caching. Nice adventure with a quick find. Love the container, very clever. TNLNSL thanks CJB
First cache that we have found without the help of blisterz
filled log out, took nothing, left nothing,
great fun had by all.
Thanks

Note to self: Do not blindly follow where the GPS tells you.....
A nice find with a balancing act (with son in hand) to complement the fiasco. Thanks for the location.

Great little spot. Lots of people around on a sunny Sunday morning. Wasn't too hard to get to though the GPSr sent us along the wrong pipe to start with...looked impressive though inching along the wall
Took: PS Game Disc
Left: Yo-Yo and Ball game watch
Not exactly to theme but we thought we'd leave something for the kids

Aaaahhhh, so that's what 'Black Apple' means.
Having just found 'G'Day Beautiful' nearby, Little Miss Rat and Co decided to strike out for this nearby prize.
Initially daunted by the number of muggles who can't seem to get enough of this place (don't blame them either), we eventually went off the paved path to relative obscurity and made our way across the treacherous water crossing to locate the booty.
I had figured that the obvious was too obvious, and I also went for a bit of unecessary wall crawling, before being told by Little Miss Smarty Pants that "it's over here Dad".
An original cache container concept, placed so close to the well worn path, yet so out of sight.
Swapped a gel ice pack for a screwdriver kit (black) and a grid card set (has some black on it, somewhere).
Excellent first cache, keep 'em coming.

A nice ride IN THE DARK on our Mountain Bikes. (mountain bike riding cousin & myself) Worked out where it had to be, then with all 50Watts of bicycle lights, down we went. (on the trail!!!)
Found it, left something??, took skunk. Signed log - liked cache container.
Then it was a spooky long Coooeeeee riding back home along the Rail trail with all our 4 lights ablazing.

I was in town today to set up some caches for the event to be held in nearby Blackbutt in October. I had not planned to find many caches today but though I’d try and get time to seek this cache as it was the nearest cache I had not found. I must say it’s a little gem, thanks for the hunt. I took the time to look around and hid a cache of my own not far away. TNLN, Thanks.

I claim this as '1st Finder' on my first Geocache search although I was with High Places who thought he was a pipe rope walker.
