Cache isn't here, we're convinced. Several caches around here appear to need archiving/disabling ASAP.

I must admit, when you see a lot of DNF's it sometimes affects the way in which one looks for the cache but we are preety confident it's not there. Nice spot though and one I wouldn't have visited otherwise.

We came to the place, we saw the view, but we could not find the cache! With 4 pairs of eyes, we still had no luck. So Silver Gang, after 3 dnf's can you check this cache please.

08-Jun-08
Searched for about half an hour for this one, but couldn't find it.

We then walked around 500m down the path unsuccessfully looking for a way to get down to the beach below. We did however meet an elderly gentleman and his grandson who were staying at their holiday house a little further on. He told us an interesting story that back in the 1940s the Nar Nar Goon mudflats were emptied and flushed out into the bay, on the expectation that the mud would be washed out to sea.

Unfortunately it wasn't, and the muddy flats that are visible in what is now a wildlife reserve here are the enduing result - all man made and a byproduct of a bad environmental decision more than 60 years ago. Of course that's assuming it's all true, and still doesn't make up for us not finding the cache Sad

On the way back we also noticed two fishermen using the area near GZ as a pathway to get down to the beach - maybe with such traffic it has actually been muggled.

FlyingPigSquadron was not cleared for landing!
Spent a long time looking for this one but unfortunately didn't come up with the goods. Will have to try again another day but thanks for bringing us to see the lovely views

Second go at this one. I think from memory the last time I was working from an old record and when I returned home checked the log to find it was out of action. Whatever the reason I was back again today and this time added to the difficulty by arriving after dark. The torch I carried was all but useless, just a little better than nothing and after a little searching by feel rather than looking I found the cache. Last of 4 for the day after visiting Churchill Island. Thanks Silver gang. Took Aussie key ring for my Korean friend who I think enjoyed his first geocaching outing. Left soldier and car.

Great views from up here, easy to find cache. Took butterfly, Left dinosaur.

What a great place for a cache. This is the sort of cache I was looking for this morning on my way to Phillip Island. Gathered the info and a short walk to GZ all the while admiring the views. Thanks silver Gang.

27-Jan-08
Heavenly temperature and picturesque views all the way. A nice little multi and easy find. Thanks

05-Dec-07
Gathered the required (and interesting) information and head off to gz. Once there the cache was found in the first obvious place that I looked, and was actually rather visible. I improved this but it is still not perfect. A good bit of coast, and thanks to Silver Gang for putting a cache here,

As I approached GZ and saw the scrub I groaned at the myriad places it could be. As I walked around to find a suitable access point soon spotted what I assume is a replacement cache. I think it's current spot leaves it very vulnerable.

Took TB and left some items. TFTC

15-Sep-07
There seemed like an obvious place it should have been but alas no cache to be found. Maybe the muggles have taken it Sad

A nice area none the less.

Thanks Silvergang

Found the cache, but unfortunately I didn;t know about the log book as I prinetd out the cache sheet over a month ago and hoped for the best cache was still here.. I wonder where it could have gone.. Becareful of nearly building.. Builders sit on it and peer down... Im glad they walk away just before I was going to give up..

Thanks for the cache from M.B.

TNLN cant sign a log..

Came prepared with a new log book after reading the previous entries but I was using a sheet I printed out some time ago that obviously had a typo so my final site of about 2.5km off shore was obviously NOT correct. Disappointed as I don't know when I will return this way.

14-Apr-07
No log book in cache, didn't have one to place in there. Easy find, logged my visit on the piece of paper that another cacher had placed in cache

07-Apr-07
Found the box OK...Thanks Metamorphic for adding a new temporary log...well concealed too. Heard some kids thrashing through the bushes nearby so I could imagine that it might be easy for them to stumble across it if they were clumsy enough.

We got to the location of this cache and it has been muggled. The cache was open and lying on the ground. We had a search but the log is gone. There was a plastic turtle and some soggy bubblegum cards left. There was an empty slab of beer and numerous cans in the area, which we took away with us when we left. I put a few items in the cache to try to replenish it (rubber ball, mondo figurine, Australian key ring). I hid the cache next to where I found it, in it's probable location. What I believe was it's cover was strewn on the ground. It is the first time I have come across a muggled cache and I found it disturbing. Who would take a log book? It is of no use to anyone. The cache probably needs relocating.

Found @ 18:45 Did this one with Next! & a mate. it was blowing a gale while we were trying to do this one and threatning to rain and my new GPSr was playing up. We managed to log it before the rain came and get back to the car only to discover the battery cover for the GPSr fell off on the track somewhere so it back out to look for it.

One we hadn't been to before

We will return to the area in better weather.

After getting the first stage information, we met Tokass at the local general store, then with a quick diversion to Battery Point we finalised this cache which was neatly located just like the local lawns and garden hedges. The island views including the mangrove margins were well worth it. Took a butterfly and left a micro bubbles to celebrate.

08-May-06
found it when i triped over about to give up on it and there it was

Dear Silver Gang,

We found your cache today at 10:55am. A nice easy start to the day and great views of where we cycled to over on French Island. Thanks for the cache. Took TB Shining Light.

Kind Regards,

D & S B-A

We got the calculation wrong and searched in the wrong area. There were prickles there so that made it a bit painful. With a re-calculation we had the right location and quickly found the cache at 5:50pm even though it is well hidden. We sat on the lovely little beach to read the logs and examine the goodies and watched the sun go down. It really is a nice beach and the mangroves make for a peaceful scene. Our new GeoPuppy really enjoyed digging a giant hole in the sand. Thanks Silver Gang. We took a blue spotted pig and left a Mt Cootha bookmark. We also left Travel Bug "Shining Light".

Diane had the afternoon off work and decided to take Pa for a drive down to Westernport and pick up a couple of caches as well. Collected the required information and then off to GZ leaving Pa to enjoy the view. The cache was found quickly.
Took Tb Freddy the Frog
Thanks Silver Island Gang for bringing us here and for the cache

Nice little spot away from the tourists in this part of the world. TNLN. Thanks for the cache.

23-Jan-06
Found at 14:49 while heading home from Phillip Island. A quick find with the cache being in the first place I looked. I had no swaps so left TB behind.
TNLN.
Thanks Silvergang!

Ahh, one of those days. With the cricket on the radio and shopping to be done, it was time for some caching!!! This was the closest to "home" so off I trekked. I collected the clues and headed to GZ where some heavy prickles had me inventing some new swear words. I soon realised that a transpositional error in the co-ords had me about 20 metres from the real GZ Red Face and once there, the cache was quickly in hand at 15:50.

Freddy the Frog decided that this was a good enough spot to stay so in he went for a mondo figurine (out). Many thanks SILVER GANG. What a terrific spot for a cache.

Unfortunately, I had to rehide the cache for a second time when I realised half way back to the car that I still had the cache pen in my hand. D'OH!!!

31-Dec-05
Found at 12 noon Gaff1, in the company of Biggles Bear. We have explored this area before and were even contemplating buying a block of land overlooking the bay - wish we had now considering the prices being asked today. It was beginning to warm up and we had to meet some friends at the Killy pub for lunch, so we quickly located the cache and moved on accompanied by 5,000 bush flies! Took: Surfboard key, Left: Mondo doll. Thanks SILVER GANG.

31-Dec-05
Found 12:00, in the company of PPrass prior to retreating to a nearby pub for a spot of lunch.

TNLN< thanks SILVER GANG.

A quick stop on our way out of Melbourne. Picked up TB that we not expecting to find in this cache, left Bali keyring.

While gathering the clues at the first location Muzza and I couldn't help notice the audience of cows. Not deterred we calculated what we needed and made our way to the cache. It was found in moments in the location we both suspected. After re-hiding the cache I had to check out the views mentioned - very peaceful! Took nothing left TB "Happy BDay 3".

09-Nov-05
This was the first cache attempted by Alan-san and myself today. We gathered the answers and headed off to GZ. As we approached, I suggested a likely hiding spot which, when Alan-san checked, proved to be correct.

A nice easy cache to get us moving in the right direction. No swap was made. Thanks for the cache, and the views.

A nice part of the world, I can see why you would choose to settle here. The population has not increased much in nearly 200 years Smile.
Took: Tiger, Left: Hammerhead shark
Thanks, Robmc.

Found at 11:10 on what I can only call a day of taking the long way to Waratah bay and home again. This was a nice easy multi, I loved the spot there was heaps of flowering natives and the birds were putting on a song. i cant help but wonder if that telescope in the window of the near by house will be used to spot a cacher.
Thanks.

02-Oct-05
Found by Mary & David at 1540. Delighted to have a reason to detour off the main road, as we normally drive past and had never explored this little place. We did know of the early settlement here, so it was very special seeing it all up close. Took Australian key ring, left napkin ring. Our thanks to Silver Gang.

Found this one today, nice easy find.

Thanks Silver Gang

Found by Maya and Ray with Greg and Bev (Gahpee) at 11.41AM on the 22nd of Aug. The Nomads visited the area to attend the Victorian state Square Dancing convention being held in San Remo over the week end. We had a great time dancing and caching. This was easy find for Maya. We took a neck strap and left a cow key ring. Thanks from The Nomads.

22-Aug-05
Found with the nomads. Both teams came up with the same results from the calculations which was a good start. A short walk and Maya was the first to spot the cache. Thanks for bringing us to an area we have never visited before. TNLN. Greg and Bev

once I had worked out the dates to use for the coordinates the rest was straight forward. With all the trips I've made down this area one would be amazed I haven't ventured to this part, well thanks to Silver gang I now have; thanks. Took nothing but added small car to the cache.

28-Jul-05
First of 16 Bass Coast caches for the day. Coordinates are spot on, but the calculation on the cache page is still incorrect: the longitude degrees should be 26, not 23. Still, it was an easy find at 0800. TNLNSL. Thanks to SILVER GANG for the cache.

We had just bought take away in Bayswater and decided a nice drive was in order with a cache at the end. So Isaln views was plugged into the GOTO and we were off to hopefully find another FTF cache.
We arrived at the first waypoint after a pleasant drive and got down to the task of collecting the clues. The final coordinates were entered and Shelby asked me if I would like to swim tonight. I replied it was a bit cold and dark and Shelby replied if you want to get the cache you are going to need to swim out 4km and get it.
We redid the sums three times before realising there was a typo error on the web page and with a quick change in Minutes we were heading off for the cache.
After a 5 minute search by torch light it was Mr.Coffee who said "found it" and after opening the container we had another FTF cache.
Many thanks SILVER GANG for the cache this area deserves more exploration in daylight with a fishing rod.
Regards Mr.Coffee and the "Swim Forest Gump, Swim" Clan
