What a great spot, we really enjoyed the walk this morning. Bumped into a fellow geocacher completing an AL on our walk around. Deserves a FP Thanks for bringing us here and thank you for the earth cache!

I came here after Olivia Rodrigo (woohoo!) at Qudos Bank Stadium. As I walked into the area I realised I had been here before a few years ago and been really confused about the answers. Not sure why because all I had to do this time was look would be nice to see it in daylight and do the Ring Walk but thanks for the cache anyway Smile

I arrived from Brisbane today. I'm actually here to go to the Opera, but just for balance, today I'm caching. I arrived at Olympic Park looking for a MULE: Multi, Unknown, Letterbox & Earthcache, all for a Challenge cache that I'm working on.This area was my first stop. I wandered around the loop, almost getting blown away in certain directions, and I took note of the information boards. I admit to getting a scare by the recording at my second stop. Knowing that no one was nearby, I wasn't expecting anything, and I jumped when I heard the voice talking about the experiences working there.A fascinating piece of Sydney History that I'm glad wasn't covered over in the attempt to 'beautify' it. I thought it beautiful as it was. Thanks for bringing me here to enjoy this piece of nature amongst the concrete.Answers sent separately.

#7637After attending IGD BattleCache event at Ermington, the aim was to visit the brickpit earth cache to collect some more points towards Cosmic Quest. Managed to find a 30min free parking spot nearby and walked over to make my observations and take photos. I have a vague recollection of doing the ring walk many years ago. Sent answers to CO who quickly pointed out the use of the struts which I found quite interesting. My guess was way wrong SmileThanks for placing this earthcache Partic

We visited this site yesterday, but I neglected to take a photo, so returned today to finish the job. Was more than happy to do so, however, as it is a very cool site to visit. Definitely worth all the favourite points that it's earned.

Exciting times over the next couple of weeks as we takeoff for the Capital GeoBash in Canberra! Its going to be a flood of Sandgropers over east, with a host of West Aussies making the trek east for the event. Im travelling with fellow Cockburn Crew members Leg5 and Barnzy12, starting in Sydney and hitting the road to Canberra on Good Friday, before returning back to Sydney. Honourary mention to our fellow member, Cravo10, who couldnt make it after recently introducing a new geocacher to the world the week prior. Once in Canberra, the agenda is set, well team up with a host of Western Australians to conquer caches. Collectively, were hoping to make it the biggest ever weekend for cache finding. Following the event, the journey continues back to Sydney, with a mission to clean up caches and new Local Government Areas (LGAs), ensuring no cache is left unturned in this epic geocaching adventure. Something tells me that well need a holiday after this, well, holiday. Todays plan was to clean up a few Sydney caches before making our way out of town towards Canberra for an evening arrival. All logs have been signed as WAC to save space, abbreviation for Western Australia Crew. Cheers Partic! Big GrinJoin us in Augusta, in Western Australias South West, for WA Goes Big 2024 (GCAGV8Y) on Friday 20 to Sunday 22 September. Log your will attend now!

Cockburn Crew on tour to the Canberra Mega. Day 1 involved a bunch of caching around Sydney before making our way to Canberra for the Capital Geobash. We found a huge variety of caches, and its great to cache in new territory that we havent explored much in the past. Unlike our home state of Western Australia where we have found just about anything and everything.A beautiful day with great weather and even better company. Thank you to the local COs for a great day in and around this great country of ours.

Catching up on the last of our unlogged viruals and earth caches from our four day visit down to Sydney last week. Any answers, if required, have been sent via message. Epic location! Glad the conservation of the frogs was prioritised over development, if only that could happen with all threatened species Sad Thanks for the earth cache

The last time I was at the Brickpit it was just a giant hole in the ground (well I guess it still is ) and the ring walk didn't exist. What an interesting walk and it was a lot larger than I thought it would be!Thanks for bringing us here Partic!Answers have been sent.

I’m back in Sydney for a few days, visiting from Brisbane. Today’s plan was to find some old caches at Sydney Olympic Park. I came by ferry and walked about 18km.
This was my main target cache, it being an old Earthcache, which I’m needing for a challenge.
I have seen photos of the Brickpit so have wanted to see it in person for some time. It didn’t disappoint.
I’ve sent my answers to the CO and received a quick response. Definitely a fp for this one. Tftc

We enjoyed a nice walk around the Brickpit with Little Shoes and Shoes Junior, learning about the history of the site. This was somewhere we'd been planning to visit for a while, and it's nice to have ticked it off the list (and scored a cache find at the same time). After finding the required answers we headed across the road for a wander around Wentworth Common (we'll be back to do the parkrun), and finished with lunch in Newington. A very pleasant way to spend a long weekend Monday.

In Sydney visiting family and throwing in some caching for good measure. Heading to the south side of Sydney today picking up a few target caches.

Definitely picked the wrong time to attempt this one with the Easter show in full swing. But we still managed to find the answers required.
Thanks for bringing us here Partic

Finally I have been able to visit and log this hide. Old earthcaches are few and far between and I have been searching for one for a long time, since I needed it to complete the requirements for a challenge.

I’m also really happy to have visited this particular earthcache, it was very cool to walk along the ring and look out over the Brickpit and learn more about the area.

I have just now sent my answers to the CO and continue to log this ahead of any reply. I’m of course happy to elaborate further on my answers if needed.

A big thank you to Partic for creating and maintaining this geocache, so that the rest of us can entertain our hobby.

Solo caching day today as Sandyofthesea is a bit off colour. Aiming for old caches and a few new LGA’s.

I really enjoy Earthcaches and happy to get a smiley here on one for the five oldest live EC’s in Australia.

Favourite point added

What a year Sandyofthesea and I have had. We kitted out the Prado and took off from Perth, Western Australia at the start of April 2022 to travel more of Australia using geocaching as a guide to see the sights. We started with the Nullabour, Eyre and York Peninsulas, the Riverlands, visited family in Victoria and then back in SA it got cold. Flinders and the Oodnadatta Track was amazing and we finally warmed up in Dalhousie Springs. The Alice beckoned and then a change of plan and we ended up tackling the Tanami Track to the Kimberley and Bungles Bungles. Territory Day in Darwin was unhinged - please try and do it! The Gulf, the coast and the car breaker ‘Old Tele Track’ to the top of Cape York. This is a must but it’s not easy! Eventually made it to Brisbane to get some fixes to the car….. let’s see where we end up.

Partic, I found The Brickpit Earthcache today. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.

In Sydney town again for work and find this area a relatively safe one to walk wound first thing of a morning. I rarely see anyone, so nice and peaceful before the hordes of cats fill the roads.
I enjoyed my walk around the ring path too where found many of my answers. A fun earth cache.

Hi Day One.
My son and I New Year trip turn into drive into NSW and beyond. Today was more about driving. I found 9 today with few DNF. Oh well they do happen.
The breakdown was a mystery, community event, traditional, multi and adventure lab.

Day Two.
We carry on heading south down Newell highway grabbing more caches. Stopping for old and some new virtual, plus more non traditional for a challenge. Unfortunately some of those prove hard to find.
I had lots of fun doing earthcache they brought us to some wonderful places.

I found 26 today the breakdown was 3 virtual, 3 earthcache, 5 traditional and 3 adventure labs with 15 waypoints.

Day 3

Heading towards Mt Buller

After early start we started grabbing caches along the Newell highway to get more LGA cover.
I found 28 today with a lot of driving. The breakdown is 6 traditional, 9 virtual, (most I found in a day) 2 mystery, earthcache plus 2 adventure lab with 10 waypoints.

Day 4

Back up the mountain to finish of what I started. I was 5 later yesterday to get the photos.
After that I grab more caches around the Mt Buller Village. Plus I found one old traditional, it is in the oldest 5.
With finds total was 12. The breakdown is 5 traditional, 5 virtual, multi and at not least a webcam.(finally).
After we finished on the mountain we started to head to Canberra.
My son and I had lots and fun today.

Day 5 Canberra

Early start today chasing caches for a challenge cache that I need for my next loop. Considering my first caching trip was fly in fly out. This time maybe little bit longer. Still not much longer need to be home in couple of day.
I found 25 today. The breakdown was 16 mystery, 6 virtual, earthcache, wherigo, traditional. Plus couple of DNF.

Leaving day for Canberra to Yass. I had a few kayaking ones on the list but not enough time for all. I DNF 2 but a CO gave permission to log it. I found the wire where the cache was. Then I headed to a event to meet up Canberra caching community. Two of them I knew from Brisbane who have move back here.
I did some caching around the park then headed to Yass to stay the night.

I found 20 today. The breakdown was 10 mystery, 6 traditional, 2 multi, letterbox and a event.

Day 6, Yass
Early start today I was chasing more challenge caches. Some of these were high. Glad I had my ladder. One was to high for it. Maybe next time. I sign 18 Challenge caches, some I qualify for other I don’t. Couple I need only few finds.
Total finds today was 21 the breakdown 11 mystery 7 traditional and 3 virtual. Plus 17 sign logs but don’t qualify for.
And lot of driving closer to home.

Day 7 Sydney and North we go.

I found 11 caches today, with some old ones as targets. Main thing today are caches for a challenges. Plus virtual.
The breakdown was 5 virtual, 3 mystery, earthcache, multi and traditional.

Lots of driving with couple of the caches, I wish Queensland had more virtual.

Thank you CO for your hides and the maintenance you do. For us to find

Sorry for the generic log.

At the Olympic site for a work meeting - a long walk to our conference centre so I made it longer by collecting some AdLabs and a few other caches. In the end this was the only cache I ‘found’ in my morning walk. The Ring is an impressive structure but I already had the answers by the time I got there.
Liked this one a lot - a FP added

Answers sent to cache owner and approved. Interesting location. Parking cost us six dollars. We took the full hour for a leasurely lunch with a view.

We headed into the flooded eastern states for a week of geocaching fun. The mission was Frying Pan. The only December 2000 placed cache remaining in Australia. All other choices for this month are international. Traveling in style and comfort we selected the next cache on merit and forward movement. Some back tracking was required in the wettest areas. Wildlife seen included a lyre bird, king parrot and a single leech. Mozzies were a pest. Caches were found and signed. Wet logs were wet. Water does that. Numerous TOTTs were employed.

Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun.

Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke für den Cache. Gracias por el caché. Bedankt voor de cache. Kiitos kätköstä. Zikomo posungira. Terima kasih untuk cache. Hvala cache. Köszönöm a cache. Nga mihi mo te keteroki. Dankie vir die kas.

I visited this old earthcache on a trip from Adelaide to NSW and back with Freddo.

Our main target was ‘Frying Pan’ in the Chichester State Forest, near Barrington Tops north of Newcastle.

We allowed ourselves a week to travel there and back, taking a circuitous route through Victoria and NSW, camping each night and finding a range of caches of interest along the way.

Rains over the past few months meant a few detours along the way and plenty of water about, restricting access to some caches and camping areas. Many of the roads were quite chopped up with potholes and the mosquitoes were plentiful! But we had a good run with the weather, with just the odd shower, but mostly fine, warm and overcast.

Thanks Partic for an interesting earthcache.

OCW GGCoconut and HJBanana. After the non stop downpour of the past two days, we were pleased to see a bit of as break in the weather and decided to venture out to Newington and SOP for as bit of caching. Newington is a place we really haven't been to before and we were quite amazed at the size of the armory grounds and the great spaces nearby such as the huge kids adventure playground. When it comes to Sydney Olympic Park, I've been here numerous times of course - for the Olympics and Paralympics back in the day, to watch sporting and entertainment events, the Easter show and even to run a fun run. I'd thought I'd seen all there was to see. Or so I thought. This weekend is earth cache day, and although I'm not super into souvenirs and don't do a lot of earth caching, I thought maybe I'd scan the map and see what ECs were within driving distance that might be interesting to complete. This one caught my eye and on reading the description and googling photos of the brick pit and ring walk I just couldn't believe I hadn't heard of this before. So this afternoon we made our way in and enjoyed a walk along the elevated platform and surrounds whilst gathering the required information. Amazing views and lots of interesting stuff to see, so great that they have made such an excellent use of this space and in doing so helped preserve both history and habitat. Thankyou for the earth cache, a FP for helping us discover such an interesting spot!

Road Trip to Nelson Bay
Found with GrimRaider on a trip to Sydney and Nelson Bay to attend a family event. I had never been this far into the Honebush site. I worked at ANU in the late 1990s and worked with Prof Ian White on the environmental assessments at this site. So cool to visit today.
Thanks for hiding this cache and for the lesson Partic

On my way home and it was still a 12 hour straight drive, but there are caches on my list I need to grab first. A drive to Hornsby, Maitland, Kurri Kurri and a few others before I am finished. There is a couple of virtuals and lab caches of particular interest. So much to do and so little time.

I stopped here for a quick look around the area and to grab this particular old earth cache.
What a great area. thanks for bringing me here.

Came here this morning before my appointment for a COVID vaccination, with the aim to find some interesting caches in previously unfound LGAs while I’m nearby. This is a really awesome location which I previously had no idea existed, and reading all the information at GZ was well worth the while. The serene view over the pit was quite cool also, and I left the area very satisfied with my choice in cache for the morning!
Answers have been sent, thanks!

Wow what a beautiful view I almost cannot believe it is here. The ring walk looks like a quidditch field and I had to double check what it was used for because if I didn’t know better I’d believe it was here for the quidditch olympics legitimately. I’m glad this parkland was preserved and these lovely frogs can chill here. Thanks for placing this cache it often came up on my list when I lived nearer in gladesville but in 11 years I never got around to doing it. TFTC

Catching up with some very late logs.

We were wandering back from the Dayboro mega and the weather has finally started to come good so we set the camper up in the hills and decided to try our luck at a few urban Sydney caches mainly targeting Adventure Labs and earth caches as they are easier in crowds.

We had been to this earth cache once before quite a few years back but some how or other we had lost our notes so we came back again today and saw how the area has really changed since our last visit and definitely for the better from a tourist aspect. We were able to gather the information required and the answers have been sent off to the CO. Hopefully they are good enough for this log to remain if not we will happily delete it.

Thanks Partic for this earthcache, a favorite point from us.

With Pebbles having a competition at the olympic park it was the perfect occasion to do some more caching before heading home. Dino and I followed the stations of an AL but also this nice EC.

The coordinats were off limit today, probably still taking down the easter show. So we atempted this from the circular walk and were really impressed by the brick pit and the structure and all a very unexpected find in the middle of the city. Thank you dear frogs!

Took our time to collect the answers and take this strage and almost magical place in before heading on. I think the EC is much better to be done from the circular walk as it is really impressive.

Thank you Partic for putting the cache out and maintaining it.

While in the area today to attend an event, I ended up getting myself lost trying to figure out where exactly to go, but found myself upon this Earthcache. What a great time for a quick break and to find out the answers needed. They have been sent to the CO for confirmation. Starting to get busy up here now with the preparations for the Easter Show, but will be back again when things get a bit quieter to do the ring walk. Great locations and enjoyable Earchcahe. Now off to the event. TFTC!

Working last night, working another shift tonight... But during the day.. Well, I had to go geocaching! You know what they say.. **Work, Eat, Geocache, Repeat!**
Ferry in the morning, CCE on Cockatoo Island, AL, ferry back, another AL, some other small caches and another CCE in Sydney Olympic Park... a sandwich eaten in a rush and then back to work! That was my day... How about yours?

We are back in Australia this year, despite these rough COVID times. We are here for work, but every now and then some time off allows for a bit of geocaching. Visited Adelaide for a day but after that we spent most of the time in Sydney Olympic Park.

It is my first time in South Australia and NSW, so it is very nice to get these state souvenirs!

Sydney Feb 21 Trip. Day 3. I joined Fitzy_1965, MinnieK and Tankengine for a weekend trip to Sydney to attend a few Community events and do as much caching as possible. The second day was a leisurely walk down to circular quay doing lab caches and multi way points before boarding the ferry to Cockatoo Island for the second Community event of the weekend. The island was an eye opener with history from all different ages and a great collection of cachers to talk to. The afternoon was the trip home via the bonus for the Tank stream adventure lab series, then a but of suburban caching before the final trek to Goulburn and then Canberra. What a great weekend.

On advice from cachers at the event, we sought this location. It is great to see the area preserved, even if it is an industrial remnant. Answers sent for us by MinnieK.

Thanks for the cache Partic

Found it at last! My second difficult-to-reach Earthcache for the day. These days I pretty much only come to Olympic Park when working at the Royal Easter Show (which looks like returning this year). Of course during the Show this whole area is full of rides and the Brickpit isn't visible, much less accessible. Today after the GCNSW event I walked down a near-deserted road to a near-deserted carpark.

Having taken in the view (but not the walkway, got to keep moving today) I read two signs which gave me some fascinating information including the answers to two questions. Didn't have a Pantone chart to hand but I got my third answer before heading to the station. This is a wonderful example of society, having done massive damage to the environment, actually making some repairs and using the area to improve ourselves.

Headed up to Sydney with fitzy_1965, albida33 and Tankengine for the weekend attending some Community Celebration events and caching inbetween.

Today we were heading to Cockatoo Island for our 2nd CCE. Caught up with the others from Canberra and joined the signing as Capital Crunchers for the day.

Finally at our 3rd CCE for the weekend was this afternoon. After the event, we started heading home but not before a few more caches. This earthcache was one of them. Answers sent to the CO.

Today we "masked up" and had a day out on public transport, taking a 280 bus to Chatswood and a T1 train to Wynyard, then a walk down the pedestrian tunnel to Barangaroo to catch an F3 ferry to Cockatoo Island for a Community Celebration Event. Then back onto another F3 ferry to Sydney Olympic Park for another Community Celebration Event, an EarthCache, and some Adventure Labs. Our return journey was via a T7 train to Lidcombe, a T1 train to Chatswood, and a 280 bus back to home. This was the 3rd of 10 finds for the day.

After hopping off the F3 ferry we walked down to the brick pits, collecting a single stage of an Adventure Lab along the way. Had an enjoyable walk around the giant ring, with it's excellent views of the pit and informative signage as we walked, and then we headed up to GZ for a look at the "structure". The vivid green algae on the waters of the brick pit were visually quite spectacular.

Our answers to the questions have been sent to the CO for approval. Thanks Partic for the interesting EarthCache.

A fun but very very hot afternoon doing some ALs and other random caches in Sydney.

Couldn’t resist an EC right next to WPs in the AL we were doing! Thanks.

Mrs Garbageman loved the ring walk - weird, as she usually hates heights! TNLN TFTC

Coordinates changed from:
S 33° 50.580 E 151° 4.266

Coordinates changed to:
S 33° 50.640 E 151° 4.276

Distance from original: 368.6 feet or 112.4 meters.

Improving coordinates to focus in correctly on the location of the sign that has the information for the cache. Previous coordinates look to put you in the brickpit Sad

Out here for some netball today and filling in time between with shopping and caching. I come here frequently and every time I am here, I always see this EarthCache but I haven't had time to stop before it got too dark to see but today I finally got the chance in my break. Funnily, I have also parked here before I knew there was an EC here lol the carpark was almost empty today so I was able to get to the information board easily and managed to get a snap in once the rain stopped. Thanks for the Earth Cache and lesson!

0CW frazeydaze around the Olympic Park site on a windy Sunday morning. I'm glad the excavation has survived all the surrounding development. Answers sent to CO. TFTC Partic.

Out exploring with local cacher, Catpaldi. We were going to Olympic Park but got devoured by mozzies so we headed toward the Brickpit. I sent in answers for us but but I’m not sure they went through because my phone has been acting up a bit. If the CO didn’t receive my answers, please let me know and I’ll send them again.)

We walked around the loop and got the answers but also spotted a possum who had taken refuge above on one of the supports at an information station.

After, we walked on toward the stadiums and took some photos there before hopping a train to Bankstown.

Found this one ages ago and forgot to log it. Spent the day riding bikes around the park, which is such an awesome thing to do!
