What a hard walk and climb! But so worth the view. Amazing. A few buggies and 4WDs about. Cache had water inside. Tipped it out. Log not wet at this stage. TFTC
We enjoyed the walk to this one and meeting a pup Bella nearby. The last part was a bit steep but quick find at the top. Great views from here. Fab to find a golden oldie. TFTC Seampy
TasmaniaJoolay and I have travelled to Tasmania on a caching holiday. We are hoping to see as much as we can in four days and find a bunch of caches. Beach closed today for dune buggy racing? Thanks for the hide TeamSwampy
Awesome place for a cache!Had a spin on the beach and a short stroll up the soft sand to find this cool cache. Our style of cache, and a like for you.
Thanks for the cache Swampy. This cache has been on my 'to do' list for a long time, and today I was finally in the area, and I had the two GeoGSP's in tow.My goodness, my dogs loved this area! They had so much fun here, I wish I had their energy. I used them to drag me up the dunes to the cache, where the fabulous container was quickly found. After signing the log and returning the cache, it was then time for the dogs to have another run. My eldest dog found an abandoned tennis ball, and he quickly became obsessed with it. After playing with it for 40-45minutes it was time to head back to our car, but he protested. So another ten minutes on the beach playing and then it was definitely time to head back.A favourite from me for this one - fantastic location, and unbelievably, a first visit for me to Peron Dunes.
frmen1 and I are staying nearby and thought that a 1.4km as the crow flies cache would be a nice post breakfast walk. Thankfully we've cached in dunes before. The last bit was very steep and slippery but what a view! Found quickly and in good condition. Left a couple of swag items. Took in the fresh air along with the panorama. TFTC
Found with tassie expat while exploring this interesting area. Probably more difficult terrain, sure hope that's indigestion after brekkie.Coords are accurate and it's in good condition. Thanks
What a beautiful, long, sandy beach. GeoCleo has missed out on a run along here as she sliced her paw open earlier and we have to try and keep it clean. The view from GZ was stunning.TFTC TeamSwampyKeep smiling
After a walk at the end of the road i park the car on solid ground and walk to GZ. I like the dunes and the amazing views. TFTC and greetings from Germany
I am camping around the "Bay of Fires", and searched for all the caches in the area. This was a difficult find, due to firstly; the struggle in walking through the soft hilly sand. Secondly, there was the problem of following incorrect tracks that lead away for the cache GZ.I finally go to GZ, at the top of the small hill (and discovered the easier track to/from the cache). There was then a bit of a search looking for (possible small) caches around the bushes, when the large ammo cache container was sighted.TNLNAlso, yes an amazing view from this hill.
That was more of an adventure than I'd planned for today. We arrived at the reinflation point and legged it the rest of the way. I thought I'd be smart and take a short cut but the sneaky path I'd spotted didn't pay dividends and I was left climbing 2 much steaper sand dunes to get back. Did eventually get the right path... ouch the sand is hot! Got to the top and realised it kept going... so up I went. A short search and I spotted this grand oldie. Signed while watching a dune buggy cut sick in the dunes... we were the only 2 on the beach, wow. Now to get back... I think I saw a shortcut... if nobody hears from me, please feed the cat.
Day 2 of my St Helens Trip, targeting: Golden Oldie / High Fave Point / D and T Star Caches, (and whatever is in my path). This one was 1st Cab off the Rank.Parked the GeoMobile on the last remaining area of solid ground, i set off on foot, slugging it through sandy conditions, i made it to GZ up on the dune. Looky here... looky there, no cache so i squatted down low to see if i could spot it through the less leafy conditions. It was some 3 or so minutes later i had the Eureka! moment.Sat myself down and signed the dry log at 08:37 on the mild, humid and misty, Wednesday 8 November 2023.These cache containers are a big favorite of mine, coz they are not only cool but they always keep the contents dry Therefore a Favorite Point for this one's location, age and container and of course that view in both directions here, is gladly given. This morning with the warm, humid and misty conditions made for such a moody scene (see pic) A moment i enjoyed so much No 4WD Muggles about here today whatsoever.... in fact, not a soul but myself and the birds Man! i wonder how 4WD's actually move through this stuff (Sand) coz i found it tough going on foot at least i can't get bogged ha ha i WILL get outta here, the 1st time TFTC and for showing me this most cool location, aloysius 7 / TeamSwampy
Excellent area and great cache. Makes me wish I was in the 4B. Will definitely have to come back. Dave from me. Thanks aloysius7 adopted by Swampy
Well, that was fun!!! Thanks for an unexpected adventure! Awesome place to be on a day like this. Shame my little van couldnt participate:). Favourite point!
Maintenance run today. Replaced the log book and put it in a zip lock bag.
Please ensure the ammo box is closed correctly and don’t close the lid on foliage.

I can't believe how much these dunes have changed!
I returned today after 8 years, expecting the same rolling hills of sand. Where did all this grass come from?
Logbook is a bit damp. My first encounter with one of these ammo cans, so I hope I've sealed it properly.

Attempted to do maintenance on this cache but there were a multitude of stuck vehicles and even more muggles along the track and through the dunes down to the beach. I'll come back in a couple of weeks and try again.
Log is still very wet, but we were able to sign it. Great view from up here. TFTC
Out and about on a camping trip with The Roadies. Had to come into St Helens to stock up on supplies, so decided to have a bit of a look around in this area. As we had the camper on the 4WD we opted to walk to the cache. A relatively easy walk ... until the end point getting to GZ! A beautiful area with spectacular views! We had a bonus as we gazed out and spotted a pod of dolphins cruising by. A fav point from me for bringing us here and
We are camping further north with tassietan and had to come into town for supplies so decided to make a caching day of it.
We opted not to attempt the hill (and subsequent dunes) in the camper, so hoofed it instead.
The clamber up the dunes was certainly worth the effort, the views from the top were spectacular: blue water, blue sky and white sand!!
Deserves a favourite just for the view!!
Thanks aloysius7 and Swampy.
Ps: logbook is sodden.

Our lowest number of finds per day while holidaying in Tassy. Just 5 for today. Got within 250m before chickening out and walked the rest of the way. Quick find at GZ. TFTC.
Log is waterlogged and will need replacing.
Nonetheless, a great spot to explore.

Firstfox, Famished Fox and I headed out here after a day mountain biking on excellent trails at St Helen’s. We couldn’t believe it only one other group in site on such a long beach! Great cache with lots of room for swaps and a wonderful view. TFTC

In Tasmania for 2 weeks to attend the Oceania Orienteering Champs. Caching all around for DT combos and counties. Cache soon found. Great views. I walked the last couple of hundred metres. I'm glad I didn't attempt to drive any further. Looks like a fun place to play with the right vehicle. TFTC

Adelaide to Hobart Road Trip
Day Four: Latrobe to St. Helens
Weather: perfect for geocaching.
After securing a van site for tonight, there’s enough daylight left to drive further along this peninsula, park the van on the bitumen, and walk in to this one. I’m not sure what it’s normally like on this part of the island, but it was blowing a gale here this evening, a couple of showers passed through too.
Another 2005 cache, that must have been a golden year for cache placement in Tasmania. An easy find once I reached GZ, which took some exertion.
Thanks for the placement Aloysius, and for ongoing care Swampy.

Great container! Worthwhile for the 360 view. Hung out at GZ for a while until we got blown off
Am about to head to St Helens again and on checking to see if there are any New Geocachers I spotted a did not find in the sand Dunes. This was a DNF for me quite some time ago but in January 2021 I found this cache with GeoMaggie2. I have obviously forgotten to log it but the CO will find it stamped for both Angus 88 and GeoMaggie2. Happy To see a yellow now.
With the help of Angus 88 I have realised that I forgot to log this cache when we both found it in January 2021. Now logged.
Parked the geocamper at the reinflation point and used 2 foot drive to get to GZ. At 50m we nearly bush bashed through the scrub before satellite view showed an easier way
Great views. Have another fav

It was a really good experience and glad I could find it took a fair bit to find but eventually dug it out
View is great
A slog through deep loose sand.
Last few metres climb nearly straight up on sand
Cache was about 6m out according to my GPS but found fairly easily

This cache was highlight of the day. So much fun crawling up the sand. My colleague definitely got a geocaching baptism by fire. Also haven’t seen an ammo can in so long! Absolutely loved the adventure and soaking up the views here. Heaven.
awesomesauce! thanks so much for this. we walked in from about 300m away and was worth every step. cheers!
Visiting from Townsville and continuing our anti-clockwise loop after a couple of days in Hobart.
Bicheno, the Bay of Fires and St Helens today. This one had me circling a bit before spotting it despite its size. Happy to make the find. Great spot.
Dropped off a signal TB.
Thanks TeamSwampy for creating and placing this for us to enjoy.

Another breezy, but thankfully warm day today after three cold sou'westerly days at Bicheno. So what better activity than ticking off a few more caches in and around the district. This is the second of three for the day, and before a coffee hit in town is required. Dune buggy would help to get closer to GZ, but we needed the exercise. Last finder did a poor job of (NOT) relatching the outer container, but all good now. Thanks for you work on this one Swampy.
Thanks what an awesome spot to view our stunning coastline, loved the little sandy climb
Our geocaching holiday continues! Sunny blue skies during our walk. We didn't drive onto the beach- don't think our car could handle it so parked about 400 m away and walked in. TFTC- a nice find!
This is our second day in the St Helens area. The weather is a little overcast and cool to start with and the ground is still very wet from all the recent rains. Our aim today is to explore the area as much as possible this being our first visit here and also to collect as many geocaches along the way as practical.
This was our third find for the day and it was a fun geocache to collect. We parked up a few hundred metres to gz and walked the remainder we decided this was the best idea due to the soft sand . The dunes were lots of fun to walk through the sand being quite soft in parts. When nearing gz could not quite decide which was the best way to approach it. In the end it was just about getting up there and once up there we were rewarded with fabulous views from up there and the cache was soon located. TFTC

Took a little searching, but we found it.

Love it!! What a fabulous spot, found an easy way to get to GZ after a bit of a climb. Walked in from nearby parking. TFTC
Well that was interesting, started off with a head plant into the ground so non geo daughter went to find with plenty of bush bashing and not dressed for the occasion which she did eventually, well camoflagued - a real achievement TFTC
Parked the camper about 300m from GZ and walked the rest of the way, saw an overly confident bloke in a 4x4 get bogged in the sand only 50m down the track.
Once at GZ and taking several photos of the excellent view it was time to start searching. After some time the cache was located, and found to be in good order. Great container and hide, amazing view

If this cache was accidentally muggled the muggle deserves to be able to record a find. I was in the area spending a few days hunting caches and this was on my list. I had the area all to myself and typical for me I didn't take the easiest route to GZ but certainly took the easiest way back. A magnificent view so i allocate a favourite.
A 3 night stay in St Helens with my craft friends.....well I could say more of a get away as Caching takes place as well. Had a day out exploring on my own for the day. Was happy with 18GC & 2GCA Finds & 1 DNF for the day and lots seen I was happy with the out come.
Took one of my craft friends to find this one we sure had to walk hard to get to this one. Took a bit of finding for the size. thanks for the hide.

Awesome morning cycle from Binalong Bay and back with some caches along the way. I made this one much harder than it needed to be. Took the hardest possible route to the cache when there was a much simpler one available. Then, searched for ages before I found the cache - reading previous logs, I couldn't work out why it wasn't obvious - they talked about it being large and easy to find. It was actually very well camouflaged and slightly off (only a few metres) off where I thought it would be. Great hide. TFTC
A busy cache today. Fabulous location and great cache container.
We did see two little dune buggies speeding along the beach.
Thanks aloysius7 and Swampy for the cache.

TFTC amazing view, yes it’s a good climb. Only a few days left in Tassie, grabbing a few more before departing, prefer to stay here with the Covid19 lockdown.
