As I'm not in this area much any more, I have decided to archive the cache (along with my visits)!

We found what we were quite sure was gz but could not locate the cache. It didn't really matter as we had a great day out walking in this area. We spotted two Albatrosses. The views from gz were stunning. Thanks Dippy for bringing us here. TFTC

Cleaning up the peninsular to make it very smilie. Walked along the beach and climbed up to the heights passing Rangers on the way. Found it in a very open position so rearranged the area slightly to give it more cover. Great views and a beautiful area. Easier walk back to the car.

After a fun FTF at a new close by cache, I couldn't help but sneak past this one on the way back to the car. While dabom81 and mini munchkin started down the inland track, I head up the hill and made my way to GZ. Here again there were more beautiful views to distract me from the cache for a few moments.

I spotted the cache and crawled up to it, somehow I managed to place my bare hand on a very spiky bush that made my hand ache for quite some time Sad The hazards of caching Razz I plucked the cache up and went about signing the log book then replaced the cache as I had found it.

Thanks for the cache Dippedidooda Big Grin

This was the first time we had been to the actual top of cape Deslacs, so thank you Dippy for enticing us up there; the views were good. TFTC Dippedidooda

With a pleasant day offering we headed to South Arm to find a few caches in a some diverse spots. One of those on our agenda was at the RSL club and, in a similar vein to a search for a cache at Lindisfarne, the large object where it was just space; it had been taken away; see log. Very cold and chilly night, but found it pretty quickly and enjoyed a walk along the nice Seven Mile Beach. Thanks.

07-Feb-14
set off up the track from the beach with no shoes watching the ground for "wriggly sticks" and sure enough a snake crossed our path! Cache was found along with a great view and we surprised the same snake on the way down. TFTC

07-Sep-13
After doing another short walk in the area, we were eager to head off again. It was a great view from GZ that had me wishing that I had taken my camera with me. Stopped at the small viewing platform on the return trip. TFTC!

18-Aug-13
left the kids with their grandparents who live nearby while we hiked up to this one. A sunny afternoon made for a pleasant walk and great views. Cache was not hidden so rehid where it obviously had been. So glad there was a pen inside as we had both left ours in the car. I can remember when you could drive to the top turning circle, through the 2 boom gates. TFTC

07-Aug-13
Today we set our target to be finding any remaining GC caches on South Arm. This was the first on our list. After parking the car, we had a very pleasant walk to GZ where accurate coordinates led to a quick find. The cache and it's contents were in good condition. The views from GZ were outstanding, especially towards the Tasman Peninsula. You can see it on maps but until you are there, we didn't realise how close parts of the Peninsula are to South Arm. Thanks for another very enjoyable cache Dippedidooda.

A good cool morning for a walk but here. Enjoyed the views and was interesting to see the smoke from the fires across the bay. Thinking about coming back for the ranger evening walk and talks during January. Thanks for the reason to get out and about.

Our 500th GC find, yippee, bring on the fanfare, clowns, fireworks & dancing girls ???...

We'd done some investigating and narrowed it down to only a couple of options for this special find.
When we saw this one met our easier criteria, and that it was set by Dippedidooda, and that it was her first hide, it was guaranteed to beat out all other contenders with all 3 of us.

Parked the red puddlejumper at the end of the road and started our walk in.
Geokid was bouncing with enthusiasm at the start but it waned about 750m in along with her energy.
But spirits revived as we approached gz, she was determined to be the finder of our 500th.
She was literally zipping from one tree or bush to the next to get there first.
When the gps settled and we could say with confidence which area, she was 30m ahead of the rest of us & had the cache spotted in a flash. Oh boy is she pleased with herself.

Whilst we extracted & opened the cache we got to enjoy the magnificient view on both sides of the cape. Swaps were a little disappointing but geokid perked up quickly when presented with a 500 finds coin kit from friend Drat1964, complete with pre-recorded fanfare on his iPhone.

The cache container is in good condition, which is excellent considering it's age. The log book is still the original but has some scribbles from non-cachers including 1 disappointed comment from someone hoping it was a drugs stash. I guess we count it lucky they did not destroy it or throw it off the cliff.

The TB which was left in this cache has gone, there is some writing from someone earlier this month Sept 2012 who stated they had taken it & left their email address . I did not think to write down the email address until I was back in our car. Perhaps the next finder who reads this will do so & pass it onto the TB owner.

Thanks Dippy for an excellent location for a cache.
And as for the fireworks & dancing girls?
The fireworks did not show themselves in daylight and the dancing girls would have frozen their petootys off today.
The clowns have found their way onto this page [:o)] [:o)]

I made a mess of getting there and back.

Having passed this cache the other day when i drove down to the end of south arm i just had to nip back today, well not quite a nip lets say.

I had a look at the map of the area on the pc before leaving home and it looked like you could drive just about all the way to the cache parking not far from GZ, well after getting as far as i could down the track I read the cache description again and noticed the comment about not being able to do that at all lol.

It was a nice walk to the cache anyway following a very clear trail just about all the way to GZ upon getting to GZ the cache was an easy spot and i soon had the log signed and replaced.

Swapped a couple of trackables and it was off back to the car.

Thanks for the cache

A great walk up to a gorgeous spot! Great navigating by Geokid who spotted it first. Unfortunately the wind and rain had set in for the walk back to the car park Sad Popped Robinsnest Geocoin #11 in, TN. TFTC Enjoy your travels #11

A memorable find - Dippy's first. An easy find after a short walk from the car park. It was a pleasant sunny winter's day so we kept walking north along the coast (towards Pipe Clay Point) until we came to the fence with the Private Property sign. Never-the-less a good enjoyable walk (~8 km) . TNLN. Thanks Dippedidooda.

Forgot to log this one ages ago. Went for an early evening hike with 25 Joey Scouts and Cub Scouts and parents from Sandford Group. Spectacular scenery. I am definitely going back without children!

18-Oct-11
I drove around a bit looking for the road in, and had just about given up when I found it.
Given the beautiful weather, I decided it was definitely worth the walk, and had a very pleasant time getting to GZ (though a bike would have been nicer!).
Out there I found a bushwalking group, a separate group doing a muttonbird survey, the cache, and stunning views.
This (and puzzles) is what has kept my caching obsession going.
Thanks Dippy - amazing!

As a member of a Land Care group I frequently deal death and destruction to several nasty weeds which are invading our bushlands, especially on the Meehan Range. So, when a phone call came asking me to help knock off some boneseed plants at Cape Deslacs, I jumped at the chance to do some coastal weeding. But, wait, I thought to myself, there's a cache out there too! So I arrived early and hastily located the cache and then spent half an hour pulling out many small pine seedlings and locating several large boneseed plants behind the rookery area. When the other weeders wandered in I pointed out that there was boneseed just 'over here', only to be told, "No, there isn't any boneseed HERE, it's all over THERE, around the other side." I convinced them in the end and we soon dispatched the offending plants 'with extreme prejudice' and then went in search of the other infestation. It's a lovely spot for a cache and we enjoyed a glorious sunset a few hours later. TNLN, TFTC Dippy.

Stunning views from GZ!
We walked up the road on the way there, then along the beach on the way back. A good leg stretch.
Thanks, Robmc.

27-Jun-10
A quick find. Headed along the beach to this one and came back via the road. Probably a back to front approach!! Followed a surfie down to the beach when we first arrived. Poor buggar just stood there looking very forlorn at the total lack of surf. Thanks for bringing us down here to another wonderful beach. We'd heard about it but never visited before.

Omg. Not really a location for small children. Great view. Tnln. Tftc.

09-May-10
Container replaced. First one didn't do a bad job considering it's been there nearly five years.

05-May-10
It's taken a while to get here, but it was worth the wait. Excellent location!

The container's lid has some holes in it, but contents were still dry.

Hey, thanks for the nice easy find. Cape Deslacs is one of my favourite spots. I swapped a random recipe mum gave me for some birthday stickers. I don't know if the recipe is good or not.

29-Mar-10
Nice place and view been out here before thanks easy find

27-Feb-10
Nice quiet walk to the cache. Just replaced it when three fishermen came over the crest. Other than trading hellos I don't think they took an interest in what we were doing. Took nothing - left nothing. Thanks for the hide.

15-Feb-10
Found by Mary & David at 0955. A nice walk on a perfect morning. Spectacular coastal views at GZ. Pity someone spoiled driving access to the end of the track though. Our thanks again to Dippedidooda.

Hi Dippi Found this one at 1254hrs and loved the view. Used to do a lot of diving for crays and also surfing around this area. Great hide, great cache. HAPPY NEW YEAR cheers OldSaint,

01-Jan-10
Thanks for a great cache Dippy!
Parked at the gate, walked to the beach, then along to the cliffs and up to the observation platform.
A short walk to the cache and back down the road. Very nice, with great views.
TNLN.

13-Mar-09
Sneaky location, just as you start to wonder why the cache couldn’t be placed below the hill. You crest the hill and an inspiring view appears before you. The contrast with the surf beach gave a greater understanding of the area.

14-Feb-09
Nice easy find. Bit more than a 5 min walk now that they have put in the 'bogan proof fence'.

Been wandering the area for many years never knowing what might lie hidden under a bush. New to Geocaching and quite exited to find our first Cache so close to home. Used the map first and notice that the marker is approx 40m off the actual site. Went back with a GPS and found it easy.

24-Oct-08
Just loved this cache. The walk towards it was ordinary then....bang, the view was there and fantastic.
Many thanks Dippy.

This is yet another beautiful spot on this peninsular. Lovely walk to the cache, easy find. TNLN.
Thanks for another hunt, Dippedidooda.

Top views - literally. There was something quite different to look at in every direction. The cache was easily found, but watch out for the fine prickles around GZ.
T: band L: torch & diabetes TB TFTC.

We visited this cache in the middle of a beautiful round walk in the area. What a lovely spot. Took computer cable and Mr Crab, left a geocaching armband and small pink dish for nuts or whatever. Found some cowries on Clifton Beach afterwards. Life is good.

Hi all. It's Sonic the super bird - their so-called team mascot.
That's right, this is their intelligent pet bird typing this upSurprised.
And no one is going to stop me. MOO HA HA HA HAAAAA!!Twisted

Except when my owners find out that I've been reading dictionaries, books and personal diarys, listening in on their private and public conversations, watching there every move with my own eyes(and a little help from surveillance cameras).
But until then I'm fine....

OH NO!!! I can hear a car pulling into the drive way. It's probably my boring owners coming home from a day of geo-caching. So stay tuned to hear more exciting adventures from....SONIC THE SUPER BIRD!!!

12-Feb-08
We had quite a walk and it was fun. We took some friends - Sophie & Casey. There was a great view at one point. It was totally AWESOME!!! Our guest found the "treasure". There was heaps of things inside the cache. We put some daggy post-cards in there. But later on we will put something else in to replace them again (we forgot the things to swap!). All 4 of us thoroughly enjoyed the nice walk. So take our advice:

If you want to take a nice short walk with a reward at the end do this geocaching.
Thankyou for taking the time to read this.

The drive/walk in didn't prepare me for the excellent piece of coastline here! Its great. Found the cache easily with very good coordinates and then took some pics. Thanks Dippededooda.

06-Oct-07
Great views from up here. Good weather and good caching mates.
Enjoyable cache. Left Mr Crab TB(modified so he can fit into smaller caches)Thanks Dippy

A spectacular view that I got to enjoy with my mates gspblu and rebulus. Noticed more walking tracks as we walked back to the car so hopefully will get a chance to enjoy this area more next time we come down this way. Thanks Dippy for letting us know this spot was here. TNLN

Quite an easy find after a pleasant walk up the hill. Nearly got muggled by a bike rider. Thought the container was rather well placed. Thanks for the cache, it's a great view from there.

Thanks for the cache.

I expect this will be our last Tassie cache, at least until we return to this wonderful place. Yet another lovely spot only minutes from Hobart. We left a couple of "Canada" pencils, took nothing. Thanks, Tassie geocachers, for this and so many other great caches. Come and visit us in Michigan some time.

What a nice area. We picked a fairly cold and windy day to get this one. At least it wasn't raining much and the weather was clear enough to see the view. Took recipe and car, left seal and coral. Thanks Dippy.

A little bit of luck on getting the right road into here, a short drive, a short walk and there it was. No swaps today, and TwistiTweeti was bitten by an ant, so we couldn't stay to enjoy the view. Thanks Dippy, for a first cache, it was a beauty

04-Dec-05
Been down this way a number of times but quite some time ago. The muttonbirds are excellent in the warmer months in the evenings as they return from feeding.

Found cache nice and easy and sat down nearby to sign log as I didn't have any swaps. But then all these jumpety ants appeared so had to move camp before the pain was inflicted.

Nice one Dippy. I'm in favour of the birds over the boards. Thanks

another hing rock little tacker expidition found ok , awsome veiws tnlnsl thanks dippy x2

22-Oct-05
Found pretty easily. Great views, although they were partly obscured by patches of rain. Thankfully it was dry by the cache, just very windy.
Took cookie cutter, left tuppaware container keyring.
Thanks Dippy.

16-Oct-05
Top notch cache - first one in a part of Tassie I've never been in before.
Took awesome frog drink bottle, left matchbox car - I didn't read the food theme till I got back - assume it a pizza delivery car!

25-Sep-05
Took R out caching today and on our way to this cache, who should we pass on the road? The Slaves! I assume the Princess was riding in the rear as royalty does.

Walked up to the point and started looking and R asked if I was looking for this?
Took nothing, left orange (highlighter).
Thanks Diddy

Location, location, location. Well, sort of. Both slaves TOLD ME this was a fantabulous location. I was apparently banned from this one. Harrumph.

We arrived at the appointed parking area, and I sent the male slave off to find the cache for me. The female slave and I waited for him. And waited. And, yes you guessed it, waited. When I knew he had failed on the mission I had sent him on, I sent in the big guns: the female slave.

The male slave returned to keep me company. After a while I sent the male slave to tell the female slave to hurry as I was getting bored. Then the female slave appeared - having done my bidding and found the cache - but no male slave. We waited for him and eventually phoned him; at one cache site he not only managed to not find the cache - he didn't even find the female slave! (And she's MUCH larger than a cache. Especially her thighs. And bottom. And. . .well, most things.) The incompetents I work with!!!

27-Aug-05
[Would never have found this one if I hadn't seen]the rock [but luckily I did, but had to go for a nice walk around the area until several muggles had cleared off. Took red devil and left fatman cookie cutter. SL.
Thanks Dippy, a great spot!]

21-Aug-05
This was a very first time in the game and was successful, happy.Took nothing left earplugs for windy day.

16-Aug-05
Well, we have never been that good at following instructions, so we decided to do this one by moonlight!!! (Besides, we knew the area a little). Spent an inordinate amount of time searching where it eventuated that the cache wasn't - disregarded the true restng place in about our first minute searching and didn't return to it until much later, so we nearly missed dinner!!! We'll blame it on the dim light of our torches, but maybe its more that we haven't mastered night-time caching yet!!! Great hiding spot.

Took magnet, left a frog cup with straw which nearly fills the cache - so if you wnat to leave anything much you'll have to take the frog!!

Thanks Dippy!

15-Aug-05
Found this cache in my previous incarnation as a Cheesy Pig.

15-Aug-05
FTF! What a great little place we didn't know existed. Great job as a first hide Dippy - coordinates were spot on, quality swaps and a fantastic view!! (Hmm I sound like Orac7000 Wink).

Took small dish, left pastry brush. Thanks again Dippy!!! Big Grin

Nooooooooooo........! How humiliated does el golco feel? Not only did Cheesy Pigs get there first, but el golco needed two attempts (with a drive back into the city between) to find this one. Shame el golco. At least I am becoming familiar with the road! AND I thought I could knock off an FTF at 5 mile as well but didn't even get there at all. Hats off to the Piggys (but there will be other days!Red Face

By getting there so early I doubt if the Cheesy Pigs had the amazing experience of watching the big whale frolic and broach about 50m off the cliffs in Frederic Henry Bay!!Cool

What a wonderful place and a great cache-thanks a million Dippy. Took teddy cake tin and left diablo pickled onion spoon.Big Grin

Alien Autopsy was so blown away with the view from here that I left him to keep a whale watch.[^]
