Relocated the cache to a new spot away from the urban development.Anyone who has the old coordinates can find the new cache by adding .170 to the South coordinates and subtracting .322 from the East coordinates

I found the large rock but couldnt find the replacement cache anywhere. It felt super awkward being here with the neighbours sitting out in their back patio wondering what on earth I was doing in their backyard.

09-Nov-24
By the location of the survey marker near GZ it appears that the cache is now on private property. With one house already built here and another one about to be, this cache really needs to be relocated.

I spent an enjoyable 9 days travelling all around Logan and surrounds searching for caches with friends and family as part of GCLogan activities. As we had a chunk of spare time today, we decided to try to locate as many of this series as we could. Always like searching for older caches, they are getting more and more rare. Thanks for hiding and maintaining Crew 153

In all our travels we would not have even thought to travel to this location. (HaHa). In your dreams, these cachers do. Thanks for an awesome effort. Devilish Brilliant and Clever I like it Another one off the list TTBLNSL TFTC/TFTH/TFBUH - Crea 153

An easy solve thanks to the coords in the previous find. Getting to GZ is slightly more tricky and I wonder how long this will remain viable given the houses being built all around it. Also as a replacement cache it does not have the coords for the next in the series in it. TFTC!

We were in the area, so we called out to see if we may have luck finding it. The area has been cleared for housing, but the big rock is still there. We replaced the cache to keep it in play as it's an older hide..

Hoping the CO can check this one some time. Our gz backs onto a new housing estate and much mulch and rocks have been moved to form a retaining slope.

We didnt think we would find this one but had a quick Look. Attached is an image of current GZ..

I came to Springfield Lakes today for a few targeted caches. And being so close to more of this series, I headed down to Greenbank.
Even though this one wasn’t far from the previous one in the series, the road doesn’t through so I drove around, looking for the best access point. I thought access by a new development area would work but it was still being built and there were lots of trucks and tradies there so I headed to another spot, a bit over 500m from gz. I headed down the fire trail and getting closer, I could see that the housing development has taken over gz. I had a good look but the area is covered in dirt and broken rocks.
I’ve told the CO who has kindly let me log this as a find. Much appreciated. Tftc and series. Only two to go.

My third half day over here this week targeting these old caches. Jeepers I’ve clocked some mileage over these past couple of days. Today it was back to the Oxley series.
Well my GPS wanted me to approach though the new housing estate, and I couldn’t really see why as my map showed a perfectly good (dirt?) road. Well I decided I would navigate myself to said road and see what the issue was. Oh ok! So not exactly a road, but a fire trail. Parking the car under a nearby shady tree I hopped out and began my 500ish metre walk. As I neared, the grass got a tad longer, and then I had to go *through there*. I’m glad I didn’t make that approach in wet weather! Somehow my feet managed to stay dry, and I made it to GZ, which happened to be very close to the flags for the housing border. This area certainly has changed since the cache was placed, but it’s good to see it hasn’t yet changed enough to impact on this one’s survival. Progress, tho, hey?!
A quick look around I found the cache where I had overlooked on first glancing.
Well this is the last one for me for today both in this series, and for today’s caching efforts. Flinders will definitely have to wait!
Thanks for the cache Crew 153.

It's been a while since I've been out for a day of caching in the suburbs of Brisbane. After a quick trawl through my GSAK database, I had my eye on a number of unloved caches in the area and managed to rope in Crookedpete to team up with me today.

Crookedpete was grumbling today that I was making him walk through the mud and soggy ground to get to GZ when there appeared to be a far easier route from a closer street. Sadly the satellite map I had been looking at didn't show those streets existed, so I'll have to take that one on the chin.

I knew it had been quite a while since I last found a cache in this series. Going back through my finds I discover it is five and half years since I found the last one! With the coordinates for the remaining two now to hand, I hope it's not going to be another five odd years before the next find. TFTC

With a Sunday free of domestic duties and finally some wonderful Queensland winter weather, Seffnjarah and I headed out to Brisbane's west today, exclusively targeting unloved caches. There was certainly no shortage of targets!

This one was not yet quite unloved, but it is an oldie and being a little out of the way, Seff was very keen to grab it.

I have not yet done enough of this series to get this far yet, but happily tagged along. We seemingly took the very long route to GZ, which involved walking on the slippery wet creek flats with a dodgy jump over the creek as well. All was found in good order at GZ and the clue collected for two more of the series.

Today was out chasing oldies. I have been working on Crew 153 Oxley Series. I have found 7 already. 8 to go.

I Had a late start, first one found just after 1pm last one 4.15pm with hour drive home to cook dinner.
Of course I was looking for caches for challenge cache.

Plus one cache I park within 100 meters.

Thanks Crew 153 for bringing me to this lovely area on the Southside of Brisbane.

A day caching with the usual group (RoddyC, hatzofff, Snickersallan and grannysmith1947) to find the rest of the Oxley series. Started this series years ago and now keen to complete them. Also grabbing others along the way.

Another Oxley series cache and the lay of the land has probably changed since first being placed. Houses and new streets now close by. Took the trail down then along the track before making our way to GZ. Found quickly.

Took a different route back to the car via higher track behind the houses nearby.

Found on 9 November 2021 at 12.34pm. TFTC, Crew 153

Caching today with RoddyC patrol14 snickersallan and grannysmith1947 to continue some Oxley series and to pickup other smiles in the area.

Now where to go in. We took a trip around the blocks and took a short walk behind the houses. Still got shoes wet.

Day three of our plan to complete the Oxley series and grab a few local caches in between. Set off early with RoddyC, hatzofff, patrol14 & grannysmith1947 and of course little Miss Millie.
Found a nice and easy way in to GZ where our group had a relatively quick find.
Well done CO on the good hide.

Came to the area to do two more caches in the Oxley series. Picked up a few trads along the way.
The track was dry, wondered what the area looked like when the cache was hidden.
Had to turn around as we got to a gate, from the wrong side.

Thank you for hiding this geocache Crew 153

Despite the recommendation of a 4WD, we had ventured out in the wrong vehicle and decided to give this one a shot in the Veloster. It hadn't rained in a while, so we were comfortable enough up until a certain point right about where GZ was. I jumped out and did the leg work, and found the cache in good nick.

Sadly my Oxley journey ends here for today. After 4wding down a muddy track and squelching across a puddle, I found there's a house right next door with a bunch of big and vocal dogs that alerted the owners to come out every time I got near. Gave up looking, too awkward. Maybe another time

It's been exactly two weeks since my last caching adventure and as you could probably guess I'm having withdrawals, so I jumped at the opportunity to join Chamad, Willis007 and TripleTurmoil for an epic LONG day of caching on the southside. Our day started bright and early at Browns Plains, then Greenbank, Flagstone then a short distance away from Flinders Peak to finish off the day. The goal for the day was to complete the Oxley series and grab a bunch of other caches along the way, considering we'd most likely never return it would be silly not to grab them.

In total I managed 30 finds for the day, not a bad effort I must say.

Highly advise you take a 4x4 to this one, especially after rain, we encountered a fair bit of mud to get to this one, but that wasn't an issue for Chamads beast.

Another one we could park close to, but we came across a fair bit of water just before GZ, which meant we had to get our feet a little wet. Once through the water and at GZ it was an easy find once again.

Out with Willis007, Nayfee and Triple Turmoil for another day of cache madness. The plan for today was to finish off the Oxley series of caches and grab a few extras along the way. Some areas we will probably never come to again so it was best to grab those caches as we passed by. With three of us living on the northside carpooling was the best option today. Then we had to grab triple turmoil, so a plan was hatched, a place to meet was organised and off we went. In all we completed the Oxley series; we did grab a few extras and then the highlight of the day an unexpected walk to grab a very fine alphabet cache. As always, a fun day, full of laughs and mischievousness, thank you.

Back on the Oxley series and both “tully” and “spring” are along an off road track. I would suggest a 4wd especially if it has been raining. While google says the road continues and comes out at the other end, it lies. Council have put up a nice big gate and some fencing stopping anyone from entering, which meant we couldn’t leave. So a 59 minute drive back and around to get to the next waypoint was the go, maybe we might pass some other caches. Both these caches were easy to find and in good condition. At one of them we had some water to encounter and Willis007 got her feet a lot wetter than the rest of us, all for the team.

Targeting the Oxley series today, along with some nearby caches, our super crew of chamad, Triple Turmoil and NayFee stopped by to collect the fifth Oxley for the day.
Cache was quickly spotted once we arrived at gz. The log was signed, off we went to grab the next one.
Thanks Crew 153 for the cache and the great series.

About a month ago Willis007, Chamad, Nayfee and myself started the Oxley Series. This could easily be done in a day but we are very easily distracted by caches nearby and some not so nearby. So, today (along with many other distractions) we finished off this series. It was a great feeling to complete it. This area was very wet and very waterlogged. Cache was fine. Willis007 had wet socks for the rest of the day though.

After signing the log, we continued on our way up the "road" to be faced with a locked gate :/ So...we had to turn around and drive back through the slush. Lucky we had Chamad's 4WD today.

I tried to drive direct from the last one but it turned into someone’s driveway. Instead walked 500m along an easement only to find a house almost on top of GZ. Thanks for the cache

It’s been over five years since my last find in this series... life just gets in the way...

Knowing I was going to be in the area I loaded up the co-ordinates I had and parked where I thought would be the best place to walk from... turns out I could have parked a lot closer... I imagine this locale has changed dramatically in the last 15 years...

Thanks Crew 153 for placing and maintaining this excellent series...

We collected the coords for this cache over 6 years ago. Today we decided it was high time we found this cache. Using google maps we parked at what we thought was the closest access point and walked to GZ. Well, what a surprise we got at GZ - so much housing development happening around here we realise we could’ve parked the car only 160m from GZ. Anyway it was a nice walk and, thanks to good coords, we soon found the cache in hand. Good stuff!

Thanks for the cache Crew 153. All is good and dry here

With a bit of time on my hands and needing to stay close to Springfield hospital, I originally intended to go for a big bushwalk but then suddenly spotted some solved coords on the map for this series.
Wow, I can’t remember how long ago I found my last Oxley series cache: it would have been several years at least. Intrigued, I drove here, amazed at the size of the blocks and the modern grandeur of some of the houses.
There was temporary fencing blocking the road near the end, but enough was open to allow me to drive through and park about 100m from the cache. I had to wonder what this place looked like when the cache was placed. As others have mentioned, the signs of coming houses are ominous but I reckon the cache will be safe because of the rocks and proximity to the creek.
It took me a while to find but at last I spotted the container upside down on the ground. I would say it either got washed out or an animal got curious but in any case, the contents were fine. I replaced it as securely as possible, noting the new coords of course.
TFTC and I may send through a few photos to give an idea of the amount of development happening here. I’ll post one here anyway.

We were getting close to finishing the Oxley series and even when Google Maps told us to drive down a road with a big gate across it our spirits weren’t dampened. Only 500 metres to walk, surely we could do it.

We had read that the new subdivision was encroaching on the cache and they weren’t lying. Soon GZ will be at the back of someone’s property.

I thought there were zoning regulations that stopped unnecessary development encroaching on caches. If we don’t protect them then I fear the future of caches is bleak. At least the big rocks at GZ will stop someone setting up a cubby house. tftc

This was a really lovely spot. On the walk to gz we spotted a family of kangaroos. Then at gz i went one way and slow puncture went the other and she came up with the goods. Thanks for placing this cache here for us to enjoy

Sunday. Awarding a FP to this cache because we came across some lovely roos on the way to this cache. We spotted this cache quickly as co-ords were spot on. Nicely tucked away. Log signing duties performed, we noted the next co-ords. Love having this series give the next co-ords for the following caches and it is taking us all around Big Grin. Please note that the corrected co-ords for Oxley Boulder should read (on the front of the log) as S27 44.999 E152 54.001.

This was the 17th of 18 caches found on today's trip.

Thanks ***Crew 153***, for showing us this place. Smile

Another beautiful day in Brisbane - and not called into work still so out I head this morning in search of the Oxley Creek. I started my journey along this mighty creek nearly six years ago, today I wanted to find the source. I spent a bit of time trying to determine my approach to this one - as none of my several GPSrs could agree on what was a road let alone a track in the area. But with a plan in hand I pulled up at the correct entrance spot, and dodging a large number of equine-bourn muggles and several canines (popular place this) I found myself strolling along the back away from most of them. GZ was a quick find. All good here.

Thanks Crew 153 for entertaining me at this location.

After collecting a set of numbers for this one, we made our way to GZ. We needed to decide for this one, where would be the best place to park and to make the walk.
With a bit of searching, we soon found a large Firetrail and decided to make the walk in from there. Lots of housing construction nearby, and as always with this series, plenty of wetlands, swamps and water nearby with the local birds enjoying all of this.
I suspect there may be more than one way to get to this area, however we were glad that we didn’t have to walk to far as the sun was now high in the sky and it was starting to feel quite hot. Brisbane summer is definitely on its way!
Thanks for another in this series Crew153

I was in the area a few weeks ago and found myself over the other side of the Oxley Creek, which whilst on the required side for this cache it is not the way to grab this one. I thought I’d leave this one for another day which happily is today! ️. In a great twist of fate, a new geocache was published just up the road so after being successful with the FTF , I made my way not too far up the road to the access point. With no rain in what seems like forever and some obvious roadworks occurring, there was a red carpet approach to the cache with no water, foliage or fauna to worry about. Quite the walk in the park! Despite the cache not being found for quite some time it was in perfect condition. I signed the log, retrieved the next sets of coordinates and put everything back as I found it. Tftc

Drove out here with ODST 501 after finding another cache beforehand. Drove around to get to where we needed and discovered that the road we needed was closed off and we couldn't get to where the cache was, that way anyway. Found a place to park and went a different way to get to the cache which worked out well. A nice area out here and after a few minutes the cache was discovered, the log signed, new coordinates taken down and everything back as it should. TFTC, a fave for me. Smile

Found - like the previous log said, we had to park on Spring Mountain Drive and walk down an easement between two houses. This allowed us to access the 'green / parkland' area on the map that runs alongside Oxley Creek. We came across a random ride-on lawn mower sitting in this area - perhaps bogged a while ago? We turned right, walking behind the said houses and out onto a dirt road being constructed / upgraded (?) (not sure if ankakeca took this route because we didn't have to dodge any lantana). This road might be Tully Road?? And the photo on ankakeca's log is probably Oxley Creek! We crossed it (took shoes off and walked across) because it was flowing over the road today too. But it wasn't til just now that it occurred to me that THIS was probably Oxley Creek! And not just 'some water across the road', LOL. It was flowing quite fast and smelt bad. Then we took a left turn up a rough track, crossed a grassy/swampy bit and scrub-bashed a little before locating GZ. Probably a 400m walk each direction from car, as the crow flies - but we would have walked much further than that. Also, wear boots or be prepared for wet feet... the grassy section we had to cross was swampy (couldn't see the water til you stepped on the grass - then one's feet sunk!). Overall, we quite enjoyed this walk to GZ and cache was easy to locate. Thanks Crew_153.

14-Apr-17
Access here was somewhat tricky. Luckily, we didn't follow Tully Road getting off at the other end would have been rather difficult due to development action. After driving the way around we found this end of the road fenced off and inaccessible by car. We walked along an easement between the houses and found ourselves in a floodplain which must have been inundated more than a metre recently. The direct way to the cache was blocked by walls of Lantana and starving mozzies chased us back to the car.
After applying heaps of bug spray we tried to get around the Lantana and finally found a way.
All good with the cache.

So I drove the long way round to this one from Oxley Tully, but I'm still convinced there is a track going through the farm? Probably used by a few locals "in the know" perhaps? But anyhow, it didn't take very long to drive over this side. I'd researched the cache location on Google Earth, and figured I could either park and walk in or drive the "track" depending on road conditions?
The track looked pretty good to me, and another reason even though I was feeling sick. I'd wanted to come and get this one in particular before the heavy rains set in. As I suspected (even more so now I've seen the lay of the land) that wet weather access to this one would likely be a bit of a drama Twisted
As I drove in on the track, I could see keep out private property signs placed along the road, but they all pointed back off the road to what I figured was a neighbouring property?
So I drove right up until the needle was pointing up off the road, and then went for a bit of a walk. Coords were ok here, and I found the cache hidey hole without any problems thank goodness. I was feeling even crooker now, but I wanted to press on and do the next one in the series. As per CO's instructions I adjusted the coords for the next cache to the numbers he had supplied me with Smile
Log signed I turned the ute around and headed off to find the next one in this series Smile
Took nothing, left nothing, signed log. Thanks for the cache Crew 153 Smile

I drove as far as I could and then walked. It took me a while to find as there were a few places it could be hidden. This one will have to be my last for today as the sun is coming down very quickly and I forgot to bring my torch. I will finish the last two another day(s). TFTC Crew153 and a great series so far!

Out with Nurseyjulie, finishing this series. After a false start to access to GZ, we drove around and found another way. We decided to park the car and walk to GZ so as not to damage Nurseyjulies new car. After a pleasant walk and a bit of a scramble, the cache was soon in hand. We added our names to the logbook, rehid the cache and headed back to the car to head to the next one. TFTC

Finishing off this series after some 3 years of starting it! I drove as far as I could in my new AWD but decided to keep it clean and hopped out and walk the track to the GZ. A few possible places here that the cache could be but I spotted it straight away. TFTC Crew153

Captain Terror and I had spent the morning running errands for a friend's birthday celebration the next day and after we dropped all our shopping at home he declared that he wanted to head out and grab a few caches. We had just found the previous Oxley cache and made our way to this one. The Captain drove the Subaru down the fire access track the sides being attacked by Lantana but eventually we declared the road too bumpy and we would just make do with our own legs.

We got to the cache and as the Captain was signing our names I heard one of the motorbikes getting closer. Hmmm. I started heading back knowing that the Captain is more than capable of catching up to me. Sure enough as I got to the clearing he caught up and we wandered back to the subaru which was being guarded by a 15ish year old on a dirt bike.

He warned us that the area was private and that people hang out there doing all sorts of illegal things. I explained that we just wanted to check the area out, didn't know it was private, and were leaving anyway and he seemed happy with that.

I don't see anyone else having this much trouble getting your series Crew 153 so hopefully the next few will be easier to manage. Thanks for the cache Crew 153.

Back in late 2012 I failed to find the access to this geocache. Net88 and I ended up at the back of some houses, facing impenetrable bush and wound up turning around. I since have done my homework and worked out where to go and where via.

Today she was with me again, but we were in her car. I was keen to grab the last 3 of the series I have left and tuck a few more 2005 hides under my belt. We'd just finished at Tully with private property scares, and onto this one where such things became a lot more real.

I found the access easily and the Subaru scooted along with only a few bumps and much lantana scraping the sides. Then the track got really bad not far from GZ. That'll do us, we will need to turn around afterall. With a pen and GPSr in hand, we hopped out to leg it to the geocache.

Somewhere in the distance we could hear dirt-bikes getting around. We wandered on and were only a few dozens metres from the geocache when I noticed the bikes were getting closer. Ugh, I hate dirtbikers at the best of times, let alone in a place like this.

And then one went past. Thankfully he didn't collect a Subaru bonnet on the way through and spotted us in the bush. Ah well. I made the find for us and recorded the last two sets of co-ordinates. Replaced, back to the car we go. I for one wanted to get out of here without being accosted.

A few dozen metres from the car, the dirtbike pulled up and waited. Oh, this should be good. We got closer and the kid on it (he would have been lucky to be 16) started telling us in his bogan yokel accent how 'over there something something private property something people smoke weed there something bike'. Net and I both made some vague comments about how we were looking and not driving further and the kid gave us some blank stares before motoring off. Yeah, great chat buddy.

We had the car turned around no problems and made again for the road. Our timing on the last bit of this series has been positively woeful. As a result this did wind up being our last find for the day, but I was happy to have two more Oxley series under my belt. And nightmares of blunderbusses and 'bacco chewing rednecks never came true. Thanks for this geocache, Crew 153 Smile

Caching today with DiamonJS working through the Oxley Series. We passed by the fire trail on the way to another cache, so on the way back we decided to try the fire trail but it would not be a track to take a 2WD GeoFalcon along! So we walked. Mrs RoddycC moved in for the kill and had it soon enough. Cache name comes from Spring Valley Road, perhaps? Found at 3.15pm on 3rd July 2015. TFTC.

After a gentle hint as to how to approach this, it was an easy walk down the track and a reasonably quick find was made of the one we thought we couldn't get to with a major walk. TFTC one more to do but that will have to wait till next I am in Brisbane with time on my hands.

07-Jun-15
I managed to completely balls this one up. Despite being told by two people to follow the fire break, in my wisdom this is not what I do. I seem to recall the last time I came that I turned up at a trail between two houses to a fire break. I need to go straight ahead. There is a creek straight ahead. If I go right and cross where there is an imaginary line to Tully Road this way is inaccessible. If I turn left and follow the fire break along I get further from the co-ordinates and the firebreak doesn't lead anywhere. It turns out that it does lead somewhere. It turns out if I follow it around a corner and cross a barrier that horses need to climb over so that cars can't get through that it leads to a fire trail which leads directly to the cache. This is not the way I go. I decide that I need to cross the creek at the narrowest part. This means visiting the swamp monster and walking in terrain no man has ever been before. All the while I am thinking am I getting soft? Two blokes, a wife and a kid came here yesterday and they didn't seem to complain. I carry on. The swamp is getting swampier. The grass, weeds, and bushes are getting thicker and taller. I am talking I am still pulling farmers friends out of my hair. It was getting late but I really wanted to get this done so the sun is going down. Not sure if this was a good thing or a bad thing. I guess I am lucky it was too dark to see where I was actually walking. Half way through I wonder if I should abandon project. Ahead I could see a large electricity tower. Usually electricity towers have a clearing underneath so I only have another 100m of horror to get through. Yep, there was a clearing. Yep, there was a nice fire trail that I wish I walked in on. I sign the cache and walk back along the fire trail to my car. This is when I remember that I should have picked up some co-ordinates for Oxley - Flinders. Crap!!! I didn't pick up the co-ordinates. With a good read of past logs we seen where they came unstuck, Tully road is not the best way in we went all the way around and came in from a fire trail. cache found out in the open but all good inside. info taken for the next tftc

Out today with Geo wife & Forbiddenground & his Geo son for a trip around the series to finish it off and make it to the final with any luck. Oh Yeah an unloved find!!!!! We loved it. Found, replaced, creek crossed, slop dodged & on our way to one I have been very much wanting to get to..... Tftc

At cache Tully I recognise that this was now private property and somehow I need to access Tully Road from the West.

I turn up and my GPS-R claims it is a road. 2wd accessible my butt! If I owned a tractor I could not access this road!

I decided to try an alternate plan of attack. I decided to walk a nice mowed fire break behind houses and possibly cross the creek somewhere.

I managed to cross the creek. It now starts to turn knee high muddy and no council work here. I start to wonder if this is the terrain experienced in Papua New Guinea.

Now, I have given this a good college try. I am still 200m from ground zero. Everyone has there limits. It looks like this one is mine.

It is possible I have taken the wrong entry, but I guess I will never know.

How nice to see kangaroos. Lovely stroll I. To this one. I could have driven by car in but it is only 5 weeks old so my wife would have murdered me if I broke it. Glad I didn't have to bash through any lantana. Tftc.

Smile!!!!!!!tftc!!!!! After a very unsuccessful attempt the other day all I can say is DO NOT TRY TO GET THIS CACHE VIA THE SAME ROAD AS oxley -tully as the owners of the property don't want anyone comming up there!!!!! After a bit of fun with the owners of the property the other day I went right right around the other side to be confronted with lantana land. Yes I should have used the fire trail but the adventure seemed like a thing to do. So into the lantana I went and across the creek since in parts it was dry. Up on the other side found the fire trail and found the cache Smile. All good with the cache!!!!

Out with GT54 finishing off the Oxley series. GT54 previously attempted to find a way in without success so we had an idea of the approach that we needed to take. We parked to the West and headed down the park towards the cache. Finding a way in was made difficult by walls of lantana. We tried a few routes without success. Dr THR and Mr GT54 were studying the map and had just spotted a firetrail when Mrs THR yelled and waved "found the trail". Yes...now we can make an approach. Up the path and then Mr GT54 and Dr THR made the final approach...through the wet and up. TFTC and bringing us to this location Crew153

cache find #1389. Out caching this afternoon with The Hunting Rabbits, and doing some more of the Oxley series.
We parked the geo tug on the road and walked down through the easement, and through the scrub until Mrs HR found the fire trail, and then made our way closer to GZ.
It was Mr HR and Mr GT54 who made their way to the cache location, which they found in no time at all.
Just as well as we were planning on finding the next cache in the series before night fall.
Thanks crew153 for taking us to this cache location. TFTC.

Firstly let me congratulate KUW for managing to get his car so close to GZ! I am stunned! EITS and I had the luxury of Zoomin Shroom the Nissan Patrol 4wd, and still got extremely close to getting bogged in one section of the road. Being solo, late at night, limited phone reception at best and in the beasty that I know you drive, I take my hat off to you.

Well EITS and I had the most fun at this hide. As most night cachers know there is an increased level of difficulty and terrain when searching by torch light, and didm't that prove true tonight. As we pulled up in a spot that looked like Zoomin Shroom woulndt sink to the gunnels in mud, we took off straight towards GZ. ughhh, not only water...not only mud....but STINKY MUDDY WATER! And all in my sand shoes!

Ok time for Plan B: Attack those wayyyy over head high bull rushes and reeds. If....I....Can...just get enough of those reeds under my feet......oh wait. More STINKY MUDDY WATER and this time it's EXTRA stinky!

Plan C: Continue through the reed parallel to the watercourse looking for an alternate.

Note EITS tries Plan D: back out to the road and further down the track for a far more sensible plan of attack, following a dry elevated section of scrub that I am sure would be easily the route to take in the daylight hours!. (Just as well she found a dry track because she needs to dry her shoes as she is not getting into Zoomin Shroom if they are still STINKY MUDDY AND WET!

Finally I followed EITS and we made the cache find with no problems at all!

An enjoyable bush bash out, with a few minor scratches to the car and a fair bit of mud too boot. Off to the next one not too far down the road. This is what geocaching is about! Fave Pt for me!

Woo hoo. So this one was fun.

Initially I tried coming from Tully and came quickly to the "Private Road, Owner has Shotgun" sign. (Is that bango music I can hear in the background). I decided I would skip ahead to Boulder.

Later then I was coming back from Boulder and I notice the access to the fire track from the other side... ooh.

Now, I have one of those Urban AWDs. Nice for mounting curbs to get to those sort-of parking spots, or occasionally going over a traffic island to make up for a navigational blip. I'm not sure they were really ever meant to go up marshy tracks. A second thing to note about my car is that it is a write-off. A hailstorm a couple of years ago managed to dent every dentable part of it... long story there, but the upshot is that I'm not scared to scratch the paint a little.

So it looked like time to test the muddiness of the track, the AWDiness of my car and the scratchiness off all that lantana. To my little surprise and great joy all went fine and I made good progress up the track I'm not sure I'm going to tell my truly beloved about.

It probably deserves a little more description: firstly it was a dark dark night and so everything out of the headlights was invisible; this was less of a drawback that you may think because after some recent rain the vegetation was often shoulder high either side of the track; the track itself went through firm, to soft, to mud, to water and back; and in the middle of the track the weed had also grown to about 3 foot.

The GPS counted down and then started counting up again and I came upon a spot firm enough I was happy to stop. So I hop out and start following my magic arrow. It quickly leads into the swamp (not for the first time tonight Wink). I figure I could probably walk back up that way and around probably get to GZ.

I knew this was probably my last cache for the evening and I was getting tired so I went for the straight line. It is only fair that on the creek series I should really have to walk through it at some point...

In any case after getting wet I started up the dry hill and quickly followed the magic arrow to the cache. I signed up and took the clues and then realised I had forgotten to take a way-point for where I left the car. D'oh. Yes one of the first things to learn about night caching is that you need to take more way-points for getting back to where you came from.

Well at least here I had an easy trick to get back. Step one, listen for the frogs, step two walk downhill into a swamp, step three use the car lock fob. Aha, there is the flash of the lights! Nice.

One more fun drive back and I had done the Spring without sinking completely into it.

Thanks Crew!

We checked Google maps for the fire trails and best way in to this one. We chose what we thought the obvious (and best) way to this one and followed the road as far as the Private Road Keep Out sign. Hmmm .... A bit of a rethink needed here. We tried another approach without luck. Maybe there is another way in but we didn't find it today.
We collected the coords for the next cache at the last one so we decided to skip this one for now and move onto the next.

Hmmmmm why does Mrs PJATPAC always end up knee deep in mud?????? Ok, we'll maybe not always but it definitely seems to be a theme. At least today I had some more appropriate foot wear on. GUMBOOTS!

Mr PJATPAC has done quite a bit of the Oxley series on his own but today was a family affair, dogs included. We had completed a few of the series today and this was to be our last for the day. We tried a few approaches but as mr 2 was asleep we decided it would be a one parent adventure. Until Miss 5 insisted on coming. The gumboots were the deciding factor that it would be mummy to hit the trail today. Mr PJATPAC was just in sneakers.

Miss 5 and I were off following the trails of a few horses. An endurance horse ride has been based in this spot since I was a kid and the arrows were still up from this year's event. One puddle... Fine, next puddle... A little deeper. Third puddle.... Miss five went in up to her shins... Her gumboots were only ankle high. Whoops!!!!! After we fished her out and emptied the boots we continued. Another puddle.... We headed around this one. Hmmmm.... a creek crossing. Ok kiddo, saddle up, it's piggy back time. Hopefully mum's knee high boots would be high enough. They were but only just!!! A few qmore puddles and mossy crossings and we were within 50 m of GZ. all that stood between us and geo glory was yet another flooded lowland... Saddle up again and across we go. We made it to the safety of the rocky ridge and began the hunt. Thinking I knew the MO of the CO I poked around the usual haunts. Oh dear lord, please don't let me have come all this way and not find it. A call back to mr PJATPAC to check coords and I knew I was in the the right place. Miss 5 followed me about then "Muuuuuuuuuuuuum" one leg was thigh deep down in a hole. After fishing her our again, I stopped and thought a bit more. Of course!!!!! Perfect spot, there it is. Log signed, swaps were swapped then it was time to head back out. We learned many tricks on the way in so followed back the way we came. Carrying miss 5 proved easier by this point. We may have accidentally herded three stray cows out as we returned! Relieved to see the rest of our team we flopped into the car.

Thanks Crew153 for another adventure!!!!! We really loved it
Mrs PJATPAC

This was the next stop of the day for Net88 and I. With the co-ords out of Pub and a DNF on Tully, I was sure we'd find this one. However, it was not to be. I went with the age old favourite of take the shortest route in. This seemed ok as there was a nice easement into the bushland. Along a bit further and with the GPS displaying 300m to go we had three options. 1) Lantana. 2) Wide creek. 3) Long grass. None of these options appealed a lot and I'm sure the heat of the day had something to do with our decision to leave it here.

Having now looked on Google Earth with the corrected co-ords, I see there is a much smarter way to get to the cache, so next time it shall be Smile

Out with Brother Colin on a huge day, collecting a milestone each, and getting this series done as well Cool

BC had been thwarted by this one before, so had a pretty solid plan of attack today. The object was to get across the creek, but neither of us liked the idea of swimming as it looked pretty murky SadTwisted Wherever we checked it seemed too wide and unappealing. However, up a little further we spotted a fallen tree near a narrower stretch, and a few convenient logs placed by "He Who Builds Bridges" gave us a pretty nifty way across [^] Cool A bit of a stroll brought us to GZ, and we made an easy find Smile Noted the clue for the final 2 caches. Out today with my friend Michael (ac16221a). Smile

We found what we thought would be a good place to walk in to this cache. Quite close too. After making our way down the hill through an access between houses we crossed through the long grass with it being only slightly boggy underfoot. Then came the lantana, which was not too thick, but the creek stopped us. Looking a bit deep and wide we turned around and only 100m from GZ. Sad

Might need to look at a map or two to work out how to get to this one. Big Grin

05-May-12
Had a few 4 legged friends escort me along the property line. Oh, its a bit muddy down here. Nothing the goretex shoes can't handle tho. Ah yes, back into the long grass, but there is a good track to follow. Almost managed to leap the creek. Landed in shallow enough water to keep my tootsies dry though. More long grass. More soggy bits. Yes, there it is Smile

This one sorted the men out from the boys... or the Fangsokis from the Lokipagans as it were Razz

We arrived at what we believed to be was good parking and made our way in. After a few aborted attempts to traverse the wet ground, we all made our way along to a path.. to a creek Sad

There was no way of getting accross without getting one's footsies wet. I threw caution to the wind and just trudged on through. Lokipagan weren't so keen. We were not that far so I decided to go on and sign our names. 20m from the cache was just as soggy again. Up to the knee at one stage Sad

But the cache was soon found and ln good condition. I collected the co-ordinates and moved on back to meet the Lokipagans. I got wet feet out of the deal - but also got us a smiley Big Grin TFTC Crew 153 Smile

**These are the correct coords for Boulders**
This was tough going after rain... We found *a* fire access trail and headed in the general direction of GZ. The ground was rather soggier and we carefully picked out the path of least mud. That didn't last too long before there was no path of least mud. Loki baulked and Pagan ended up carrying her across the worst of it Wink. naww... We continued to follow the (very overgrown and barely recognisable!) trail until that was cut off by another one of those raging torrents Wink. It was feet wet or nothing this time I'm afraid so after some discussion, Lokipagan's were going to give this one a miss for today but Fangsoki was keen to see it through to the end. He kindly signed the log on our behalf in the spirit of "keep as many shoes dry as possible" Big Grin. As we waited, we managed to bring up a satellite map of the area and realised we should probably have come in from the reserve via another fire trail. Apparently feet would have been wet even coming from that direction though. Not a cache to do after rain without waders! Thanks Crew 153

Found with Stairman1. Why is it we always make it harder than we should [?] Sad. After grabbing Oxley Tully we thought it would be an easy path to the cache. We were wrong Sad. After heading through a private property gate, then heading through another gate that said trespassers will be shot (thought I would make it sound dramatic) Razz, we decided to turn around and head back to the main road. After taking another road which lead to nowhere and taking a few wrong turns, we finally made it to the fire break which was only a 500 metre walk. However the sun was setting and I wasn't keen to walk through the long grass. But Stairman1 want to push on so we headed in. Luckily I didn't see any snakes, only lots of thistles and lots of green sticky plants.[:(!] After a short busbash we arrived at the GZ. We quickly signed the log, grabbed the co-ordinates for the last two caches and headed back again through the long grass, the thistles and the sticky plants to finally arrive back at the car on sunset. We will resume this series tomorrow. Thanks Crew.

Out today with Ant24, Geobub and Claire_geo on what was our third attempt to finish this series.
Claire_geo and Ant24 made an attempted at this one and made the trip to the left of the waterhole, decided that we obviously heading in the hard way and returned the car to try and find a better way in. After much driving, even a trip back to 'Tully' to see if there was a way in from there!!! After much searching we decided that it was time to move on to the next cache.
After finding 'Boulder' we thought 'What if we went in through there?' Claire_geo and Ant24 made another attempt from a slightly different angle and came up with the goods!!!

Didn't work out the correct approach for this one straight away and, after a bit of driving, decided to go ahead and do 'Oxley - Boulders' - there were serious rain clouds looming and we were rained out last time! Came back after doing 'Boulders' and found another entry point. We were still working off the sheets we had printed when we first began the series, the updated information about the access points is very helpful though the reference to a 'local entertainment venue' had me confused. Mr Ant24 & I went in and found this one, once again got covered in cobblers pegs (for the 2nd time today!) and ended up with very wet and muddy shoes - should have put a spare set in the car! Almost there with this series and definately seeing countryside I never knew about Smile TFTC Smile

Found at 12.20pm. The hardest thing about this cache, as other people have suggested, is finding the correct way in. Found the fire trail alright and then it was off to the right and follow the geotrail. After that it was plain sailing. Left a coin and took TB. Off to Oxley Tully now. TFTC

This was a great cache! I, like silver sovereign however wore shorts and my legs now resemble something that has been attacked by a wild beast...oh well... took us a while to get in but after a bit of a hunt and a few wrong turns (and some subtle suggestions from alitoops that we could either forge the creek or find a narrow part and jump over it) we made it in. Good hide, Took coin, left nothing. TFTC!

I did not attempt this one during my last attack at the Oxley series. When I was here last time, it was just too hot. Much nicer today... [^]

Silver Sovereign and I took far too long to get the GZ for this one. We did a complulsory lap of the pond to the left before finding the right track. The grass is nicely grown and the track is not so obvious... Red Face

Once we managed to head in the right direction, the find was had and we could sit and do what cachers do.

I would not risk the track in a car though. Apart from being a little soft in places, the bushes and trees to either side of the track have grown to the point where they will leave some lovely scratches along the duco. Plus, I cound't see an easy place to turn around so it would be an interesting reversing job.... Surprised

I took nothing but left the AJAYHAWKFAN Geocoin.

Cheers
