A disappointing DNF after quite an effort to get up those steps. Bushbashed around ground zero for quite a while before we gave up! Hopefully we will be able to nab some more today.
Searched for a while where my GPS wanted to have me search, but did not find anything. Just when I decided to give up, I sort of stumbled upon it just a little off my coords.
Thanks for the hide, Bird_boys!

Great walk never been to the lookouts but ended up on the track that we normally come down from the duck reach track. Tftc.
I've never driven into this side of the Gorge before (except higher up where the MTB tracks are).
After parking, I saw the cache was only 187m away - but then I looked at that 187m!!
After the down and then up again, I got to the excellent top lookout (the bottom one is quite blocked by trees), and then on to the cache.
Back down was slow and painful on dodgy knees, and keeping an eye out for a car park short cut, which didn't appear.
Thanks, and a favourite for showing me the views.

Hooley dooley! I think I'm going to expire! So glad I actually found this one as I was not keen to come back up here again. A very tough climb but I'm feeling like I've achieved something- even if I think I'm now dying! Another find by chance as I was in the general area but really had no idea what I was looking for until I found a photo that helped a little. Went too far down the hill and glimpsed something as I clambered back up to the track! I'd walked right next to it. Phew! A beautiful view - glad it wasn't summer time. Thanks for giving me a work out!
This cache was found at around 18:13 and brings our overall cache find tally to 9278.
This one took a long time to track down but I eventually found it just after dark. I found the cache about 10m from the posted coords in the end.
Thanks Bird_boys for the cache.

That's quite a climb with the geobub strapped on. Nice to tick this one off, TFTC
Another trip to the Gorge to find another cache I had not realised was here, and then to find another walk I had not realised was here...thanks for the great workout Bird_boys. I took the 4-wheel drive track back and then detoured along another track back to the road, so did a very big circuit. TFTC.
Tough hike up to this one. I did cut onto a fire trail from the top which might have been a little easier than the directions given in the description but was still a tough track into the GZ, and doing it in the dark with just a phone for torch and GPS probably didn't help the cause though. Would be a spectacular views back across the basin if the trees were cleared a little. Council should build a lookout up here.
Once at the GZ finding the cache didn't take too long.
TFTC
Cheers

Not Found after climbing up from the basin, not a bad effort for a mid sixties person.
Travelling around Australia and spending a few months in Tasmania.
Finally feeling well enough to cache, Mr Felix declared today was to be a full day out and about.
So having been in this area for 5 weeks we decided today was the day to visit Cataract Gorge and surrounds. Funny day overcast and cool 1 minute sunny and warm the next so jumper on jumper off was the big game of the day! [:o)]
This was a decent hike up to this cache. Mrs Felix sat in the sun enjoying her lunch whilst Mr Felix huffed and puffed and multi tasked by eating his lunch on the climb. On arrival at GZ he saw the nice 3metre wide track, but no idea where that comes from not where he started from.
Picked up TB.
Looking forward to meeting local cachers at the Event on 17th October.

Took the wrong path at first attempt. Did a u-turn and went up the other one. TFTC.
Bit of a hike up a non descript trail but then emerged onto a well defined one.
Now it's time for lunch!

Some time on my hands after dropping the girls off to school. With a bit of a chest cold, climbing all those stairs proved quite the challenge. Not sure about existence of any defined track beyond the lookout, only found a multitude of game trails. A bit of bush bashing was required to get to GZ. Superb views and a great way to spend the morning.. thanks..!!
Visited the Cataract Gorge today and went for a hike to claim this find. As suggested, started at the suggested coordinates and climbed lots of stairs. Soaked in the great view and paused a few times to catch our breath on the way up. Wonderful cache! TFTC.
Hmm, didn't get to GZ as the track beyond the 2nd lookout was, at least for visible first dozen metres was steep, wet, and muddy; and we were not suitably shod to press on. We'll come back another day.
In the meanwhile, despite many visits to the Gorge, over 5 decades, I've never been to those 2 lookouts, so the views were a bonus. Thanks.

Found my seventh cache! Really great hiding spot. Don't think I've gone beyond the second look out before this. Tftc! ^^

On our tour trough Tasmania we had a lot of pleasure and cool caches .
On Cataract Gorge all of us are going to make a hike. We even took the "sessellift" we know from switzerland very well, but it was a pleasure .
After that we went till the hilltop wich took us a while and it was really hot. Our Elfefurz did not like it as much as we have [xx(].
We even saw a echidna and some wallabys.
At the end we still could go for a swimm in the lake, while Dad went back for the motorhome .
On my way back without family on a higher pace anyway it went down .
Here also, my english has to get better [B)], but finaly found.

Nice spot for a cache and we loved the kangaroos and wallabies on the walk to the cache.

Today we visited the gorge and spent the whole day with investigating the area, chasing peacocks and riding the chair lift. After a short climb to the lookout it was only a short walk to the cache which was pretty well hidden and took us a while to find but in the end there is one more smiley on the map.
Thanks for the cache.

Nope. I spent a long time on and around GZ, but I just couldn't find it. A shame after climbing all this way up from the first basin
The tour up here did have som nice view of the swimming pool though.

Wow, getting to this cache was hard work! Definitely prepare your legs for some climbing. Beautiful area. Left TB, took geocoin.
We trekked up the mountain for this but enjoyed the journey. Cache just off the track but not too hard if u can get the right tree. GPS very close to it

Our second cache in Tassie. We spent a wonderful time on this fantastic island with its nature, people and much, much more.
We went up with the chairlift and walked on a nice path. We had to look for a while and were not sure if we would meet a snake instead of the cache. But all went well so we finally were happy to log the cache.
Thanks and greetings from Freiburg, Germany

Zal and I spent 10 days touring Tasmania and it was the most amazing trip ever! We got engaged at Cradle Mountain and saw so many wonderful things. Even the weather played nice most of the time Thanks for the hunt, it is always tricky logging lots of holiday finds so apologies for the cut'n'paste log, Zal included more details
First GC.com cache in Tassie after landing early this morning. Found the way up and we saw an echidna on the path too! Glorious day at the gorge and great view on the way up. Cache found no worries. Cheers from Sydney. Dropped off a Geocoin too to start its Tassie Adventure.

Rated: for Overall Experience
TFTC ended up bush bashing until we turned around after reading the description. Nice walk!
Well, this one looked a lot closer than it was to our starting point. We followed the path, exactly as described and we were rewarded with the most amazing views on a stunning day. The cache was found in great order and on our descent, we were lucky enough to see a wallaby up very close. Thanks for the views and for the walk Bird_boys.
Visiting Launceston for the weekend with Tomstache, Glanville Girls and muggle grandparents. The weather has been fantastic and great for caching.

Oh My! After catching the chairlift across the gorge we fired up the GPS and found this one ONLY 200 metres away, so off we charged. We soon found out that this one was a more challenging approach than we thought and 200 metres was in fact a lot further when we were switching back along the trail. There was a beautiful view at the summit and the coordinates for this cache were spot on. Thanks Bird_boys.
Took mini-berrybender along this track for some exercise and let her find her first geocache. TFTC!
Loved this cache, really nice part of the state. My first cache in Tasmania too! Dropped off TB CBNG2V who's mission in life is to make it to New Zealand so hopefully a few kilometres closer now.

I think I got to this one via the "back door". After finding Little Knoll I faced a little dilemma. Should I plod ever upward to nab this one (after all I have to be closer than way down in the gorge) or return to my car back at the Duck Reach Rd T/O? Took the eagles dare & after getting to where I had to leave the track I had another little "oh no!" moment. Had I misinterpreted things & even though only 15m or so away was it WAY DOWN THERE?? But I needn't have worried - had CIH in no time.

Family swimming so thought I'd do the dash. But of a trek, but well worth it. Thanks for the cache. Antpadgem sydney.
Again my GPS decided it did not want to play today, so I had to rely on instinct. Don't see how the clue is helpful at all. TFTC
Just saw on the news there was a small bushfire right where the cache is. Please don't tell me the cache has gone ?
Found with Eminor93 after a great walk up the hill on a warm sunny day. We enjoyed the views from the lookout and with the instructions soon made our way to the cache. We spent a little bit of time at the wrong tree before quickly finding the cache elsewhere. Dropped off a geocoin. Thanks for the cache.
Was a big lovely hike to the top, but certainly worth it. Lovely day and no sign of leeches. DoorMatt found cache and dropped in a Geocoin. Tftc
Awesome walk! I really enjoyed the tough walk to the cache. Best walk I have been on for a while. I will award this a favourite point as soon as i redeem my 30 day premium membership. My highest terrain cache find so far!

Out and about on a rainy day. Great view even through the mist. A few leeches about, even took one home with us in the car! TFTC.
I found this cache after spending a couple of minutes barking up the wrong tree.
Thanks for the cache Bird boys.

Use to mountain bike ride this area quite a bit when I was fit and motivated. Nice to return and go for a stroll. Great place. TFTC
This one proved a challenge to our navigation skills . We eventually found the starting point and headed up. Then tried to follow a non-path from the first lookout but soon realised our mistake. Backtracked to the main path and continued following it to the main lookout where we took in the stunning views. Then onwards and upwards and we soon found the 4wd track and shortly after, the cache. Phew, what a journey and definitely worth our 3.5 terrain stars . The GPS had us a fraction off at GZ: coords that worked for us today were S.656 E.866. Thanks Bird_boys
I went up and down this hill quite a few times during the day. It would have been better to do a loop. Oh well found it in the end.
long long long way to the top, but i got the cache. Thanks bird boy for the hide
Straightforward easy find after climbing about a zillion steps. I used the fire trail to return to the restaurant road. Should have parked at the info spot and had an easier walk. TFTC
Quite a slog up the hill to this one! Nice little views along the way and then followed the narrower path up to the fire trail. Quick find at GZ. TFTC x
Found on a lovely walk around the Gorge before heading off to St Helens for the Australian Orienteering Championships.
Out and about In Tassie for a few weeks on holidays collecting caches. Quick find in a great area, thanks for bringing us here.

Decided to do a loop today with this one as the starting point, have done the walk to the lookouts a few times, always worth the effort. Did have to go off track slightly to find it. TFTC
Beautiful winters day.
2nd attempt at this one - we did have to leave the track a little

found on the way out from our very strange walk the hills allmost killed us lol

Great day to get the views.
After the find I followed the 4WD track back up to the sealed road as this was easier than climbing down all those steps for my old knees!

What a climb and what a view! Thank you for leading us to such a great spot in the Gorge.
We thought, this would be an easy cache... Wow, the climb seemed to be endless and the "jungle" was challenging. But we enjoyed the adventure nevertheless. We were so happy, when we finally found the cache. Thank you very much for this great cache and many greetings from Germany, team goatpig
