Today we drove home after spending a week in South East Queensland. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in the Sunshine State, with near perfect and warm weather for the whole week, and a very high cache finding success rate. Another short walk and another quick find, has seen better days but I guess that's expected given its age. Thanks for the cache

First day of holidays for me, and i thought it would be a good idea to get some exercise knowing that a lot of eating and drinking is imminent. Today, we headed south to find a couple of older caches that will fill a spot on my calendar grid.I had two accompany me today. even greatjustgreat was up for a walk. From where we parked it was a minor 5 minute walk to GZ. The hidey hole was quickly discovered. The cache container is showing signs of age, only one clip now works but the heavy camo cover was carefully lowered to help keep the seal. Thanks very much for placing this cache all those years ago DAD78. Cheers

Davinells had a plan, to reach a milestone by the end of the year. But that meant some serious caching, so Ive come to Brisbane where I can cache until I cant walk anymore.Ive been at it for most of the day, Im pretty tired but Im a glutton for punishment and noticed this oldie not too far away. The sun is still just above the horizon so here I am!A quiet walk through the bushland and the cache was soon located. One of the clips no longer attaches to the lid so the container cannot be sealed. I covered it up the best I could so hopefully it wont get too wet.Tftc DAD78Find #4944

Out for the day with nikid1 playing on the southside & this little patch of caches looked like a perfect place for a walk. I'm really enjoying our walk through this great little patch of bushland & especially when there is an oldie to be found. A short search at GZ & our names were added to the log.
Thanks for the cache DAD78

Multiple logbooks to choose from when signing this geocache. I went with the option that was in the Ziploc bag. Seems like recent finders are using the nonprotected book and taking the chance it doesn’t get wet.

Back early last year, Bart took a COVID sojourn and I ended up with a DNF. Heading to an event on one of the bay islands took the time to look up a few caches on route. This was the first and could have been the last cache of the day if Joe Blake decided to greet us and it was only 50m from the car. But all well that ends well and found Bart was home on this visit. Thanks to all for keeping this cache active.

After an extensive search on our last visit we were stunned to basically find it this time in an instant! There you go... the joy of caching. Good location for a stroll except the snake ARF saved me from stomping on. Lovely spot. TFTF

Well it was about time we got a day of nice weather these holidays! I decided today I should make the most of that bright light that had been turned on in the sky and head over to the Southside to collect some older caches that I’ve been wanting to cross of my list for a while now. Arriving here, I was pleased to find this one after the previous DNF on this cache, as well as my DNF on the cache prior to this one.
Thanks for the cache DAD78.

This last cache stop for the day was disappointing. Spent way too long searching for what others described as an easy find. Noted there had been a fire through the area and the only piece of humanity found was a discarded red coke bottle top. Hope this oldie is there as this oldie couldn't find it!!

While in the area I thought I’d stop and have a look for this cache... a really nice day for a bushwalk, there’s even water in the waterway thanks to the recent rain...

Surprised this oldie doesn’t get more visitors... but it’s always good to read a woodyrothwell log, they bring a smile to my face...

Before everyone had to go on a caching hiatus (let alone work out what the word hiatus meant after hearing it on the TV news 10 times a day) I was making a conscious effort to add swag to caches. Anything that came across my desk that someone might find remotely interesting was pilfered and added to the geo-bumbag. Kids toys, swaps, treasure maps, diamond rings, stickers, stamps, prophylactics, I was hoarding it all to put in caches.

Some people might be asking how this calling or yearning originated, but seeing it's more likely that no one is, I will tell you all anyway. Not long ago, I found myself in a dark place. I was taking army men out of caches without swapping anything of equal value. To make matters worse, there is nothing of equal value as a green plastic army man holding a weapon that's been to war against plastic farm animals. They are worth even more is they are able to stand up by themselves without falling over.

This obsession led me down a dark road and I found myself needing to self-medicate with wine to sleep at night. I knew I was in too deep and so I joined a group: "We All Need to Know ArmyMen" or WANKA for short. It was there I found my calling and instead of taking out of caches, I was putting in.

Cache by cache, I'm slowly giving back to the caching community. It's a long road ahead of me but I'm definitely finding it easier to sleep each night. I've decided to keep up the wine medicating because wine is just the shizz. tftc

Today I was lucky enough to be able to catch up with P'Prime to grab some old geocaches. It was an early start but something about early geocachers getting the finds...

This was the fifth cache for the day for us and there were an awful lot of birds chirping away as we made our way towards this one. I am quite a fan of hopping animals, wallabies, kangaroos, , rabbits.. they all hop.. sadly no bunnies here today, but we did find a geocache so not all bad. Thanks for the cache DAD78

A day out with the lovely @Net88 chasing oldie caches. After navigating in to an appropriate spot for Suzee to put her feet up, we put ours to good use and headed in to the bush. No Emus were spotted, but it wasn't long before we were at GZ and a surprisingly 'open' hide. Nice long lasting container though, and afterwards we left it well covered.

Thanks DAD78 for entertaining me at this location.

I tackled the three in this little patch of bushland this morning.
It was a 3.41 K round trip that was very enjoyable. It was also very photogenic with the little bridges and seats.
This was #2 and everything was dry and in good nick. I love finding these older caches that have stood the test of time. It was quite a walk off the path to get this one, but I had a natural feature to follow so getting back on path was easy. I looked in one spot before zeroing in on cache. It really is in great condition considering how long it has been here.
Thanks for the placement and maintenance of this cache DAD78

Out with Selva Girls today, we had done some nearby caches and then headed over to this area for a trip down memory lane. Selva Girls' family had owned and cleared land here in her childhood. We had some light left, so decided to see how many caches we could fit in before dark. We followed the tracks and soon saw a likely looking hide. Names added to the log, and back to the track to see if we could fit in just one more Razz Tftc DAD78!

My parents had purchased land near here when they got engaged. They owned it until the mid 70s when it sold. My grandparents had also bought land nearby at about the same time, but the developer had gone bust and the land was never developed. Who knows, our ate afternoon stroll may have taken across that same piece of land.
With some light still left in the day, stortigirls and I enjoyed our stroll to GZ. There, the cache was quickly located and the log signed. TFTC

Out and about this morning grabbing a couple of daily caches over this way. I parked up near the gate and after a short walk in I made an easy find of the cache container Big Grin
The log book was extracted and dutifully signed and dated. Then all was replaced back as found, ready for the next geocacher to trek in here and find it for themselves [8d]
Then I headed off back to my car and back home for lunch. Just the two caches for me today Smile
Took nothing, left nothing, signed log. Thanks forthe cache DAD78 Smile

With my holidays nearing an end, one last date was set to travel southside before having to rejoin the proletariat. The plan was to eradicate some rabbits and rats, collect some solved puzzles, and grab any others along the way.

Tackled this track on my bike, soon started to regret it when I saw the Hills Red Face. Love the big 50cal, don't see many around any more.

This cache is in good condition, and makes smilie #3201. Thanks **DAD78** for bringing us here. Feel free to discover our trackable TGQNRV .

Usually I am a list maker but today I was just driver and I had no idea what was on the agenda except for a select few...and this was one...very glad it was too as I also need it to fill in a Hidden Month. A caching day was planned, for today, with JC of Couchmen.
I mean, he's getting old & may NOT get out to play much soon!
We parked close by the trailhead & were just heading up the track when we were met by a lovely lady walking a beautiful white & caramel cross German Shepherd.
Well, I had to stop & have a chat didn't I?
Several minutes later it was back to business & the short trip to GZ.
A quick find of the rather large cache container.

Linden/6 & I were in the area again today after completing most of a series up the road a little while ago.

It was a glorious day maybe a bit too hot but we enjoyed our time in the bush anyway.

We had just completed the Rabbit Series so we headed along the road to pick up a few missing ones as we went!!

We were surprised at the hide location here and pleased that it was such a big container.

Bart was safe inside so we signed his log and headed off for our last of the day!!

After wanting to do it for a long time, today I finally made the move to grab the three geocaches in this bushland reserve. I started by finding the 2007 hide, then the 2006 and finished up with this 2005 effort - this geocaching trip just keeps getting better. I also noted without travelling overseas, this is the last of the DAD78 geocaches available for me to find. I became super interested in your hides after grabbing the two in Girraween National park, then realising the rest were in Brisbane's Bayside, 10km or so from home.

I had thoroughly enjoyed my walk to this one from the corner of Emu and Kiwi Streets. The pathway is super well maintained and now has 7 bridges to cross and 3 benches that I saw. An easy 800m walk, highlighted by ample wildlife, even if at times they were blending in until I was within a few metres. A Wallaby slamming from park into top gear gets the heart racing when it's so close.

Since I'd seen the listing I wondered why the geocache was named this. Well, after heading off the bush and getting to GZ I made the find. Pretty well hidden from muggles, but obvious enough. What a handsome beast it is too! And, I see it's just passed it's 10 year birthday! Inside the theme made sense. I noted it seems the book bought at the corner store (according to the barcode label) set the theme here. And an original logbook! I had a grand time flicking through log entries and added my own. Seeing as it was about 15:30, I thought of the quote:
Homer: See that, boy? Why aren't you making any business deals?
Bart: I'll do it this afternooon!

The geocache was all replaced as found and it was time to head back to the car. A patch of bushland that was appealing and not one I knew about. A lovely walk, plenty of wildlife and basically, a top way to spend some time on a Sunday afternoon. This, is what geocaching is all about. Thanks for the hide and keeping it going all these years DAD78 Smile

So this adventure started a few weeks ago with Wombles and Co talking about doing her 25differentD/T challenge. 1/2 of Scattsmadhouse asked to come along for the day as well to pick up some caches. So this morning (early) we started our day, along with mumma (barbbowman).

Happy to say we completed the 25D/T's and were home just as the sun was starting to go down.

A few weeks ago some fellow cacher friends were talking about doing 25 caches in a day to meet the needs for a challenge for one of the group. Finding an area with 25 unfound caches were soon compiled and the plan was in motion. Today we ( barbbowman, bubba and wombles and co) were all up and on the road before dawn , eager to find caches and help wombles get her 25 caches.
It was a nice little walk through the bush to this cache and a pleasant surprise to find such a large hide. We had taken a different entrance to get to this cache and collected another in the area on the way.
Creatures that hop were everywhere as we drove in. Slow down , we wouldn't want to see any of them get hurt

Bubba89 had been awesome enough to work out a list for me for the 25 D/T challenge so we planned a whole day out with an early start! The 4 of us (Bubba, Barbbowman, Ree of Scattsmadhouse and I) met up before the sun was up and set off for the day.

Nice to find a cache this size, dropped off a TB.

A late night dash for the cache of the day. It was pitch black dark and without a headlamp the trip would have been one big massive scramble.

Found the container easily as it was partially visible. Great to see the original old logbook still in good shape! Some black humour in the first entries there. Razz

All in good shape in the container. Tried to cover it up more so it'll be shielded from potential bypassing muggle eyes. On the way back tried to reverse-follow the smartiephone compass and almost managed - went just enough sideways to meet a creek, not the trail... Red Face Luckily I had an idea which way I had gone so the trail was soon under my feet. Smile

TFTC, DAD78!

A nice easy run today of about 20 finds. The run was mainly a clean up run, going from location to location, picking up a few that I had not done in certain areas. Some great hides included in the mix. Appologies for the late logs, I have not been well of late, and am catching up.

Another ammo can in a good location. TFTC.

26-Nov-13
Well I was going to cheat and drive around from the first cache just off kiwi st, but once I was in the bush I thought it's only 800m or so whats the point in going back to the car. So I wandered down the track, past the danger asbestos sign then turned off and headed in through the bush. Just in case, I found myself a large whacking stick and took it along for the ride. Thankfully no nasty no legged critters, just a large kangaroo that decided to take off once I was within patting distance and scared the heck out of me.
I love finding ammo cans in the bush, theres nothing better I reckon. I pretty sure this is the first one of this size for me too. Added my name to barts book and dropped in a TB.
Thanks DAD

Slight concern at the DNF log, but nothing to worry about, walk right up to the hide and pulled it out. I was already in mind that GPS may not be spot on so was looking before hitting GZ, and in the end caught it on the way in.

In other news on the way out disturbed a snake on the way out, that little fella took off like the wind. Obviously more scared of whoever was making such a racket then anything else.
