-moge- and I continue on our road trip through New Zealand. First up north, then as far as Stewart Island. Old caches in particular are on our radar, but of course we don't waste any that just happen to be there. This was one of them. Thank you very much for storing and caring for it!

Cool hide, easy find thanks

Out of town on a caching mission with Kiwi Does Stuff, made a plan for the few days up in Auckland and hit the road. Making our way back to Rotorua through Huntly and grabbing some quick park and grabs along the way. Parked up right next to the cache and had to nab a picture and be discreet around the near by muggles. TFTC!

31-Mar-24
Day 2 of our out of town mission with Reschedule. Decided we would head into Huntly on our way home to bulk up numbers.

16-Nov-23
I'm back in New Zealand for first time in four and a half years. After spending the last few days in the Manawatu, I'm heading back up to Whangarei, but I stopped in Cambridge last night to break up the journey. I've got no time commitments today until I have to be at my friend's place in Auckland, so I've planned a few caches to search for on the way. A quick find thankfully as it is locat3d next to a rather smelly ditch.

16-Oct-23
Quick cache while having lunch along the Mighty Waikato River

24-Sep-23
It was very quiet along here today, no doubt a result of SH1 having moved slightly to the east, but made it easier to find this without feeling like 300 motorists were watching you instead of the road.

24-Jun-23
My 52 card pick up mission was curtailed due to miserable rain, so I pushed on to Waiuku via Huntly.

This seemed a nice roadside stop to keep numbers ticking over. The rain had subsided and the Huntly power station stood proud across the river.

I normally go cold at the mention of aggies when caching but this stop was nice and straightforward.

Thanks McCutchan Cache Clan

Stopped by for a quick find on my way to Auckland for a ten pin bowling tournament. Thanks McCutchan Cache Clan for the cache.

18-May-23
What a shock to see Huntly so empty. Before the bypass you would be lucky to find parking when driving through.
The cache is all good. Thanks for the placement.

06-May-23
Found after a bit of a hunt. Tftc

04-May-23
I parked up at the near by rest area and headed off for a walk, keeping my fingers crossed the rain would hold off (which it did).
This was first on my list and was a nice straight forward find thanks to the hint.
Thanks for putting this here

Perfect hint, quick find .

06-Feb-23
Quick find on our way home. We explored the surrounds and after all the rain it looks like the water was quite a bit higher than it usually would be. TFTC .

The Container was on the ground. Now it's hanging again.
Thanks for the cache.

Labour Weekend has historically been a minimum 3 day Team SEAC all out adventure so a little while ago I started planning some fun for us. After a walking day yesterday, today was a driving one and more about the numbers and clearing out an area we have had our eyes on for a while. Ended up being a massive day (left home around 8.30am and got home at 1:40am!)....it wasn't called a Mega Mysterious Weekend for nothing. Enjoyed the fun with friends...just like the 'old' times.

Higher or lower path??? The highs found it.....it was slightly whiffy where we were.

Thanks for the cache.

23-Oct-22
Last year, Team SEAC members went on a road trip down to Cambridge to clear out as many of the caches in that town and its surrounding areas. On the way home from that trip, we stopped off in Huntly to do the night cache. After completing the night cache, we vowed to come back to Huntly and grab as many of the caches in that area as we could. Today was that day.

We pulled up in the safety of the rest stop and got out of our cars to gain our bearings. There seemed to be two routes that could lead us to the cache. One of our group had already found this cache and recalled one of those routes. So, some of us went that route, while others went another route. One group found the cache and the other didn't, so they headed to where the cache was to witness the formalities.

The log was signed as Team SEAC in order to preserve log space.

23-Oct-22
Day 2 of our Labour weekend caching mission, and also happens to be a significant day for me yearly...... Our group decided to head down Huntly way for a good variety of cache types and then head inland and back up to Auckland.....some of use a little jaded from the impromptu high elevation gain hike yesterday, we eased ourselves into search mode.....

Signed is as SEAC to save logbook space and allowing us more time to enjoy the area which surprised us as to how many scenic places are hiding in Huntly....

Thanks to all the CO's for hiding and maintaining caches here.....and to mother nature for the awesome weather we had......

TFTC.

Out with Team Seac for another day of adventures. We did a full day of caching on the Saturday with a long hike! And decided to head down to Huntly for the day. I really enjoyed my time around here, and would like to come back again. Some us finished at 10pm, some finished at 1amish!

Sorry for the generic logs. Thank you for taking the time to place this cache.

Out with KeyLev, HeMaLuDy, Stik-a-crane, NZTravellers, LiverKiwi, NurseDr. All logs signed “Team Seac” or similar to save log paper.

Thanks for the cache

We overshot the mark but needed ro go back anyway. Good view of the power station. In a previous life I worked for a chemical company that amongst many other things, provided the chemicals for cleaning the boilers there. It was an annual event and all hands on deck for monitoring. Thanks for bringing us

Think there's a new fence

23-Jan-22
Stayed the night in Huntly at the campground on Lake Hakanoa. A delightful place with lots of caches around for us to look for. Sadly only found a screw on the fence. Searched the ground in case it had dropped but just found glass. Will watch.

Quick park and grab on way home

07-May-21
Nice quick park n grab thank you

12-Apr-21
My son asked if I could take him to Tatuanui today. I jumped at the opportunity as I knew I could collect some solved puzzles and start my scientific souvenir journey. I left Whangarei on Sunday to stay in Auckland that night and break the trip up. I was very lucky to pick up 3 ftf's on the way down to Auckland.

Today we left at the leisurely hour of 9am to avoid peak inner city traffic. It was a nice drive down and this was our first leg stretcher and first cache of the day. Great views over the power station. An easy find, thanks Smile

05-Mar-21
Nice easy find.

31-Oct-20
A very quick and easy find on my way home from my road trip following the "Mega that wasn't" in Auckland over Labour weekend. TFTC.

20-Oct-20
Thanks this was either a missing date for Kiscardi or myself. Slowly filing up my months of finds.
Two weeks in the north island caching. What fun and we are so lucky to be able to get away what with COVID this year. And understanding families.

20-Oct-20
Quick find today while travelling around the North Island with NZ Bozzy. Mainly on the hunt for TMTG caches but also misding from my jazma grid.

24-Apr-19
Found a brown fence and a missy fence before I found the white one.

22-Apr-19
On my way back to Auckland tonight I stopped to grab this one. Initially I walked on the wrong path but after a quick course correction I soon had the cache in hand. So the log book has been signed and the cache is nicely back in it's spot all ready for the next geo hunter. Thanks heaps for taking the time to set up this cache. I really appreciate your efforts in doing so. TFTC.

27-Mar-19
A quick find for us this morning thanks to the hint, we were conscious of all the traffic driving by but no-one was paying any attention to us! The cache is in good condition. TFTC pyschrn/MCC!

23-Mar-19
Found last Sunday on way back to Auckland but forgot to log it.

17-Feb-19
We could find this geocache during our trip through New Zealand. Today drove to Auckland and visited the city. Along the way I was able to log this old geocache Genesis Power. It fits perfect in my Jasmer. Once we arrived in the city we took two other interesting caches. First one was Baaa and Bunnies. The previous geocaches couldn't find it but after the cache is rehidden it was perhaps easier. We were happy to find this one. Last one of today was the virtual on top of One Tree Hill.
Thanks for all caches!

27-Jan-19

12-Oct-18
Day One of a 12 day, 3000 km road trip around the North Island with the primary objectives being the Taupo Ultra Marathon on the 13th and my first ever caching Mega event in Wellington on the weekend of 20th & 21st. With thousands of possibilities for caches to look for on the way, I had to be very selective and decided to concentrate on special types, solved puzzles, ones that would fill missing spots in my statistics grids and those with good numbers of favourite points, plus maybe a few extras that were close by those.

The weather today was decidedly grotty, with wind and frequent heavy showers. Perhaps this contributed to the big accident that closed State Highway One at Puhoi and necessitated an almost hour detour. Whatever, it put us behind schedule and with the less than pleasant weather, I decided to reduce the number of caches searched for on the way down, to make sure we got to Taupo in time for the safety briefing.

This was one that would fill an empty spot in my placed months grid, so with the sun making a brief appearance, I pulled in off the busy highway. With the good hint, it wasn't long before the cache was located, the log, which was very full, signed and all replaced safe and secure for the next finder. TFTC

We took the nice little walkway through the bush instead of walking beside the busy road. TFTC

08-Aug-18
Another quick drive by grab. Tftc. Smile

10-Jul-18
A crew from BOP and Jag50 and I teamed up to become BOPnJam and hit Huntly to get numbers for the Hidden Creatures souvenirs. The weather played nice for us and we had a pretty successful day with only a couple of dnfs. Our caching day was drawing to a close but not before we stopped by to grab this one

08-Jul-18
Out for a day's caching with Team BOPnJam. What? there are lakes in Huntley!!!!
We went for a wander around the lakes and the rest of Huntley and found what we could find, only a couple of DNF's for the day, pretty happy and not so late night.

08-Jul-18
Out caching with Team BOPnJAM. The aim of the day was to clear as much of Huntly as possible.
Another quick park and grab to boost the days total.
TFTC

08-Jul-18
Another big trip planned this time in an effort to obtain all the Hidden Creature Souvenirs. Team BOP (Davidson clan, McJandals, Frogybecaching, TNXPro & myself) joined with a couple of Westies (Jag50&Merlot58) to fill up the van and clear Huntly off the caching map Smile We signed the logs as BOPnJAM for expedience and to save on log space.

I had a DNF here a couple of years ago which quickly got sorted out and replaced. Now I'm finally here to turn this into a smiley. A nice park and grab to end our time in Huntly. Cache found quickly thanks to accurate coords and a straight forward placement. I really enjoyed our time here - so much so that'll I'll have to return because there's just a couple we didn't get to. Cheers McCutchan Cache Clan, TFTC.

We joined up with a team from the BOP and Merlot58 to collect caches for the Hidden Creature souvenirs. Signed the logs as BOPnJAM to save room on the log. Another quick park and grab and our last find in Huntly before heading North.

08-Jul-18
Out with teambopnjam for the day caching plan for today was to do the pick up 52 trail and all of Huntly then we headed back to Hamilton via highway 1B collecting caches and a few in Hamilton then home to bed we were home by 10pm so not to late . Great day only had a few DNF for the day so fairly happy with that.

Tftc

08-Jul-18
With Hidden Creature souvenirs up for grabs. A plan was hatched with our Westie buddies. We were all ready for a stormy rainy day but the weather gods were good to us today with no rain until getting home at 10pm. A fun day was had by all and many thanks To all the COs for giving us a reason to come here. We had a nice mixture of cache containers, types, DTs and hides. We signed as BOPnJAM to save room on the logs. Please excuse my cut and paste logs in advance due to numbers. Cheers

04-Jun-18
Coming back from a trip to the manukau heads. This was the last grab of the day. Lol that was a tiny log. Tftc

01-Apr-18
Hayleyfcy pretty much did all the work on this one. Was a bit sketchy right beside SH1 with lots of traffic, but we were shielded by some foliage.

01-Apr-18
Log a bit small for size of cache. We went past GZ as we didn't read the hint or description and thought we were looking for a power box haha. Then it clicked that it was the power station. Duh. Dropped the cache when putting it back, phew thankfully was easy to spot. Tftc Smile

30-Mar-18

No luck here today

26-Nov-16
Having a flight home from Auckland this evening I took my mum out for a nice lunch, said my farewell and slowly cached my way north along the river. I decided I had time for "just one more" before heading to the airport but despite looking from the path side and then climbing under the tree to look from the back I could not find anything hiding in the vicinity.

21-Oct-16
4 of us couldn't find Sad

21-Oct-16
Met up with some other cachers, so there were four of us looking. Had a good look at the suggested location, but no joy. There has been some recent pruning of nearby vegetation..... hopefully we were just blind, and the cache is still there!

15-Oct-16
2nd day of my trip to New Zealand to visit my sister in New Plymouth before heading to the mega event next weekend. So I thought I should get some caches between Auckland and New Plymouth to make a line on the map.

It has stopped raining at this point so I pulled in a little further south before walking back, and almost getting cleaned up by a high speed postie on a pushbike tearing down the footpath at the blind corner at GZ. A quick look, decided to get in and get dirty and the cache was in hand quick enough. Thanks to the original hider and McCutchan Cache Clan for taking it over.

03-Oct-16
Found this with the team "Naki 4" (Blenheim Bear, 2Bulbars, TMNinjaTurtle and myself) on our mission from Huntly to Hamilton on our hunt to 120. Was a long day but pleased to have it completed! Thank you for the cache.

Looked a while for this and couldn't find and gave up. Then we were told about a walkway so back we went and after getting caught in a tree and inhaling a sand fly (protein to keep me going) this decent size cache was in hand. Thank you for the placement.

03-Oct-16

Found this cache during the Naki 4 team (Blenheim Bear, 2Bulbars, Teenage Mutant NinjaTurtle and That’s Neat) run on the 120 caches in one day on the 3rd Oct. Many thanks Mission accomplished, this one is a wrap. TFTC! Blenheim Bear

Out and about today for a spot of cache detection around the North of the Waikato. Heading back up North now. I have been meaning to do this one for a while, but having been saving it to break up a trip on the way back home. Since it seems to have a habit of going missing I decided I should get around to earning the smiley. I parked up in the close carpark and walked to GZ via the footbridge bridge, pausing to take in the power station. It was letting off a lot of steam today. Anyway, once at GZ a look here then a look there and then the cache was in hand. Cheers for the cache placement and maintenance efforts!

Coffee man just packing up,and boy the chips smelt nice. Pukeko loved the chips that were being feed to them by the car in front of us. Lovely views across to power station. SL TFTC
