What an adventure to find it.Had to go off track to find it. Lovely lookout and seat.
Found after a search with my GOS hunting around all over the place. I was surprised to read in the log book that it has been found by accident on many occasions. It’s been a nice walk today on the Cunjevoi Waterfall circuit, though very muddy after rain yesterday/last night. Now for the walk up to the picnic area. TNLN. TFTC
A beautiful walk in to this one this morning. We got up early and drove from chinchilla to the bunya mountains today. We just have a couple of days in this area and the bunya mountains have long been on our destination list. It was great to do a couple of walks today, and this was the first.
There is track maintenance going on and it looks like there will be some new pathways eventually leading to GZ.
We were mindful of the gimpy gimpy which we could see a longer Shady Trail today but all was good.
At GZ we found two logbooks. One is the original and one is a later addition.
Both were in very good condition and totally dry.
Thanks Albyalbatross&Nicole

A nice walk to the cache, however the original path to said cache is closed for construction.
The alternative trail, following some fence lines, is very spikey (maybe where the CO came up with Big Sting cache title?) and very over grown.
Currently wish for a whipper snipper to trim the path..
Not a hard walk but current condition, I would suggest a higher d/t rating.
Cache is in immaculate condition, brimming full with swaps, tidy log books, very dry. The hidey hole and Camo fits almost too perfectly.
Quick read through the old log book, love the history..
Left a squishy ball, a foldable frisbee and small animals.
Took a giant moth.

Found with my dad Marty and Brother Laurence. Nice little hide! The big sting is my legs after walking here through the overgrown spiney plants!

Found on our way home (via Bell/Bunya Mountains) from attending the very enjoyable QOGM (Queensland Outback Geo-Muster) 2021 Paroo. Can't wait for QOGM2022 Murweh!
Picked up the tb here.
Thanks for the cache and taking us here albyalbatross&Wendy. Glad to pick up another oldie. Enjoyed the walk. I nearly lost my sunglasses again near gz as I went thru the bush on the way in. As usual, I try to make the find harder

After finding a few more caches in Bell early this morning it was time to head to Bunya Mtns and a few detours along our way with E_Smiley.
This was an enjoyable walk to GZ except for the constent thought that I might get stung by the horrible Gympie Gympie plant that I had a severe reaction from earlier this year. Nonetheless, finding an old cache was all that really mattered for us today, thanks CO for maintaining this so well.

Update log book and pictures of old logs. All good here. Left Geocoin.
Doing some long overdue maintenance and Dropped off BnJ's Gem City Geocoin
I was worried about this one as the track seemed to end about 600m from GZ on my GPSr map and also on my phone map. The contour lines also seemed to get very close together just above GZ. Thankfully, when I got to the end of the track, I found a sign pointing down a track to Chute #3 700m away. I was able to follow this sometimes overgrown path all the way to GZ. Thanks for the cache
Cool [^], another cache with the original logbook intact. I started off feeling pretty good after my earlier efforts this morning, but soon was filled with dread at the amount of unrelenting downhill I was covering. I planned to walk the circuit to Fisher lookout, so knew it wasn't going to be a stroll, but even so . . . so much uphill afterwards [xx(].
Well, I made it to GZ and the cache was a quick find. Leafing through the logbook I noted quite a few muggle signatures; even one from a ranger.
It would be interesting to climb down one of these chutes, but as I didn't have any climbing gear and I was on my own, I figured I'd only end up buried 10 feet into the ground at the bottom. Common sense prevailed, and I contented myself with a cautious peer over the edge and thought how hard those loggers were to do what they did.

Today being a bit cooler than it has been, we thought it’d be agood day for a bush walk and some caching. So we packed a picnic hamper, grabbed the back-pack and headed up to the Bunyas as there are a few caches up here we’d love to find.
Well this cache didn’t disappoint. We found an ammo tin at the end of a beaut walk and with views to die for at GZ. The well formed, gradual downhill path was easy to follow. Along the walk we saw hundreds of little birds in the grasses and shrubs. Such a treat!
Thanks for luring us out here with your cache... it’s a top spot. Happy to report all is good here and the log book and other contents are nice and dry.

My son found this by accident some weeks ago.
I didn’t know about geocaching before so this has started a new hobby for us.
While I was out trail running I thought I would log this one now we signed up.

Have found a couple over the years accidentally, but thought we would officially start the logging today with this one being our first. Family effort, enjoying a weekend at Bunya
Great walk great view nice bench to admire it from. Found with muggle and muggle converted to geocaching. Great day out walking in the beautiful bush. Took minature torch left Mufasa. Tftc
Mr and Mrs CF headed out to try the walks on this side of the Bunyas. The vegetation was different and there was a lot more wildlife out here. At the top of the chute track Mr CF headed off down the hill to GZ. Enjoyed the views and pondered on the hard labour that must have been done to get the logs down here.
After making the find, I took a few minutes to look through another old log book. Looks like lots of muggle traffic here: rangers (thanks for leaving the cache in place), some random who thought he'd found a drug stash ("bummer") and a 15 year old boy ("my mum thought it was a bomb").
Thanks for bringing me to the area - a favourite for the location!

Up in the Bunyas for a few days and seeing how many caches we can get while out on the trails...this was the 4th...TFTC!
What a stunning day to go for a wander in Russell Park and find this cache that has been tucked away unfound for over a year! A cool yet sunny walk brought me to GZ and I soon found the cache in good order, safe and dry. I signed the log and returned it to its hiding spot. Now having a short rest before I continue my wandering. TFTC in this spectacular area of our country.
After a fantastic day at [Rural Challenge 2016](http://coord.info/GC6FDQE) yesterday, Team Canyonero still had daylight to put to good use. With Fangsoki at the wheel and Crew153 in Command central the Powerful Purple Paj headed this way, for this cache was high on today's must get list. After agreeing on a starting point we sacked up and headed out on the well maintained path. It was quiet today - we saw no other humans until almost back at the car, just the occasional bird squawk or rustle of a random lizard or small wallaby off to the side of the track. And the regular footfalls, huffing and puffing of us three old men.
We noted and commented on the random spot fires that have been through - some specific plant appears to have been targeted - but it meant the track was clear and easy to follow. A steady pace got us to the 'lookout' - well, ya cannae see nothin' at said lookout sonny jim! And then headed on down the chute track which we decided was once a logging chute back in the day. We noted here the fires becoming more prominent - and at GZ it was all black uh oh we thought ... but a 1 second look and the Ammo can was spotted, sitting pretty on top of a small pile of rocks at the edge of the burned out area. No way that wasn't spotted, and probably protected by the rangers doing the burnoff. Good to see.
So an easy find for us. We enjoyed the views, sorted through the ammo can contents and checked out the now archived coordinates presented on the lid, and signatured our names thereon. Once all returned we built the rocks around the container - although it still looks rather obvious - at least to a geocaching eye.
The views were fantastic. The track was amazing. The wildlife adorable, the company great, the container awesome ... a favorite of course. Photos below.
Thanks for placing this cache, albyalbatross&Wendy. Found in good condition.

I started caching a year before this cache was placed and I remember looking at the listing when it was published and hoping to get to the area to find the cache. Up until now I have not been to the Bunyas and when Fangsoki suggested that we spend the day in the area I was excited to get some of the oldies that I have been watching.
We found the correct access point and headed in. There has been a lot of vegetation control done along the path with evidence of spot fires to control some pest plants.
the final track had a pink tape across it but we decided that it was not intended to prevent our access so we continued on to GZ. The signs of the fires were very evident and we were a bit concerned as we approached the search area as the whole area has been scorched.
Pprime gave a call when he located the cache and we were surprised to see it lying in the open. The advantages of using ammo cans in the bush seemed to be evident.
We signed the log and covered the cache a bit more as the area is completely bare at present.
Thanks for placing this cache to bring us to this lovely view.

Pprime, Crew 153, and I were in the area and I expressed a desire to grab this grand old lady. It had been on my radar for quite some time now.
Our maps didn't have the track needed for this cache - but a map at the start explained it all. We knew where we were going.
We parked up and made our way down into the area. The place is not short on wildlife. All manner of wallabies were cruising about. There was a stark difference between the rainforest area and the nearby farmland as we made our way down.
On the way we noted some fires had been lit in an effort (we think) to control weeds, etc. We got nearer to the cache and started to worry as the fire-affected areas were not abating.
We made our way to GZ via chosen routes. Oh dear. It's all black ash. But then Pprime announced he'd found it. There it was. The happy ammo box - unaffected by the fire. We are unsure how it survived - but it certainly has.
We signed the log and re-hid the cache as found. What a great area to visit and a lovely walk. An easy favourite point from me. TFTC Albyalbatross&Nicole

Loved the location and the snake art

Out for a walk with Menstrietash, the path down to here reminded me of walking in Europe with the well worn groove of the track next to open fields, the carved red bellied black snake near GZ was a sign of things to come later in the walk. While I was busy hunting for the cache Menstrietash glanced over and said what about there and was spot on! TFTC

We were in the majestic Bunya Mountains for New Years along with a group of friends, celebrating the new year in style! Today we headed out along with catscatscats22 and Captain Terror and this one was next up on the list for us We continued along further from WOW and Little Mog Big View, and once again the track to this one was almost purely downhill which was a welcome treat We soon arrived at GZ where a quick search of the area revealed the trusty ammo can, so we added our names to the logbook and rehid the cache The heat was quick strong so we enjoyed a rest, before tackling the dreaded uphill back to the caraprk. We soon made our way back to the road, and up to where we had left Wall-E A great day out on the trails and a great area to be out hiking with friends [^]

This geocache is nearly 170 kilometres from home. However it is my 12th oldest unfound within 250 kilometres. I like old geocaches and I especially like Albyalbatross geocaches. And having found this one, there are only two such I've yet to find. It's a long drive from the southside of Brisbane to get "Auburn", nearly 300 kilometres away and "Minerva" which is 640 kilometres as the crow flies, for me now. They are, however on my list and I am incredibly happy to have finally found this one, the last geocache of any sort left for me in the beautiful Bunya Mountains.
A large group of friends, all geocachers, were together over the New Year break for a few days up here in the hills and as such, provided a perfect opportunity to grab a few smilies - this being a priority for me and my third 2005 hide for the trip. I had originally intended it to be my first find of the year, but plans altered and we're a day late. At about 11:00 Gaz of Gaz'n'Kan, Catscatscats22 and I set off from Fishers Lookout on the circuit via Cunjevoi Falls, Little Mowbullan and of course, here. It was a hot day, but not too bad going.
Having left from Little Mowbullan it was largely downhill to here, which was welcome, although doesn't mean the return journey is going to be downhill. We rested before the final push down near a Moreton Bay fig and signpost. After that the walk was gently downhill, but reasonably exposed compared to the rainforest and the sun was not making me any cooler. Onwards.
We arrived near the chute and parked up on the benches provided there. Gaz grabbed the handsome ammo box and the logbook was signed. Naturally, at this point a couple of muggles arrived, so we waited around until they left and we could re-hide the container. That done, views checked out, we're back up to the car. And this is a longer leg than the rest.
Slowly uphill, the whole way. Which after the rest of the circuit was more tiring than I'd expected. We stopped again at the great Fig for a breather and chat about the tree. Getting ever closer to the road we spotted damage from wild boards, huge Gympie-Gympie trees and a goanna.. who tried to climb one of the said Gympie-Gympie trees.
Eventually we spilled out at the picnic ground and carried on up the road to Fishers Lookout and the car. It took us about 3 hours at a somewhat leisurely pace to complete the circuit and find all three geocaches which are now along it.
My family ancestry is tightly tied to timber so I could appreciate the history here of logging in the mountains. A wonderful walk, thanks for this geocache and keeping it going for over ten years now, Albyalbatross&Nicole

Another weekend caching adventure with Swellerfungus, Crookedpete and TCC, this time we were headed off to the Bunya Mountains. After camping overnight at Dundabah, Swellerfungus and I headed out to grab a couple of caches previously found by Crookedpete. After catching up on their beauty sleep, Crookedpete and TCC joined us on a few walks that they had not already done. A quick car shuffle and a short drive back to the jumping off point and we were off on our way. We were impressed by the quality of the trails but unfortunately we witnessed quite a bit of damage done along the trails from the rampaging wild pigs (would not be the first time on the weekend we passed areas of their destruction). TCC was running out of steam by this time but he bravely soldiered on to GZ where a quick dose of chocolate had him raring to go again. No problems with the find here. TFTC
This cache was found on a weekend caching adventure with a lot of laughs and some good long walks at the Bunya's with SeffnJarah, SwellerFungus and my son, Tom (TCC).
After an earlier walk to Carbines Chute, we hit this circuit and collected WOW and Liitle Mow Big View. Young Tommy's legs had run out of steam, but with some gentle persuasion, he soldiered on from the track junction. Some chocolate whilst sitting near GZ revived him nicely for the rest of the walk back up hill to the car.
No trouble finding this one. After viewing the chute, we wandered back to the car. We got a few Big Sting's in these parts over the weekend.
Many thanks, Albyalbatross&Nicole

As the youngest in our group was starting to flag, and with the lure of some chocolate at GZ, we continued on and headed down to this cache. This was our second chute for today, and another example of the teratology of emotions I feel in this magical place. Such history.

Army Amo tin in good condition. Watch out for the big black snake with white eyes.
We decided also to find the last cache on this walk. At first a found a huge snake. I was completely surprised but my Aussie friend he only gave me the hint that the picture of a snake on the close bench is telling me that there are snakes. After this little shock I found the cache and was really happy.
Did the full circuit with a detour into the Chute area. Love the colourfull signs around here. Thanks Albyalbatross&Nicole
found 7-9-14 sat and read the entries with the kids. beautiful view!! added our own entry and placed my anklet in the container.
Found with stairman1. The temperature was still chilly even after our hike up to the top of the mountain. Arrived at GZ then started the hunt. The container was extremely hidden. Sat down and read the entries in the log including plenty from muggles. Placed our names in the book then place it back nice and safely. TFTC
Found with goldielover. Doing the full circuit today. Loved the views along the way. Interesting to see the shute and wondered where they took the logs after their quick drop.

I started out from Fishers. There is a better way to come. Still I got there and uplifted a TB.[B)]
After organising with Brother Colin to head up to the Bunya Mountains for the day and a bit of a late start we managed to meet up here to grab this one. After a quick easy walk down the hill to grab this one we needed to get back to the cars! I am sure it was far flatter on the way down! TFTC Albyatross&Nicole
All set for a super long week-end in Toowoomba from Friday until Tuesday.
I am in Toowoomba to find all of the new caches in the area since I left town year ago.
Today's mission was to find a few caches in the Bunya Mountains with Kestal. [^]
We had set off in different car and finally met up at the parking spot for this one. Kestal and son and I soon were wandering off along the trail to this cache. Easy enough to get to GZ and a quick find. Did we really walk DOWNHILL all the way to this one ... Oh what a slog back to the car.
Thanks for the cache.

Took the scenic trip to gz this is one circut i hadn't done before not much evidence of the shute these days as nature has reclamed it tftc
Is there a new track to this cache since it was published? The description suggests a long and arduous trek.
Well what ever the explanation I thought that this was a rather easy walk. Sure it is 1.3km and downhill almost the whole way there, but at no point would I ever call the track steep or difficult. The round trip took me 45 minutes.
I kept expecting the track to plunge downwards at some point as I made my way towards GZ, but it never did, just a slow but steady descent. A nice quick find at GZ then the 25 minute walk back to the car.
I saw a cheeky little birdy on my way down. He would land in front of my then fan his tail feathers at me. He moved rather quickly so the photo is not the best

TFTC. Decided to tackle this one first thing in the morning. At times the downhill was extremely quick. Great wildlife was heard in the trees and we came across a huge python on the way to GZ. Everything is ok with the cache. Impressive historical site.
Our 12th & final cache of the Bunya mtns - so excited to have found them all in our 5 day stay - it's been great, mostly clear days so have enjoyed some awesome views and excellent walks. We took the shorter option from Russell park as it was late in the day. Nice thick rainforest, even Piccabeen palms here - must be too cold further up the mountain. Another awesome view and with some imagination I saw the chute. Took red monster dog toy for Jasper, left goose saucer. Realised on the way back that the big sting may not be referring to a tree but the ache in your leg muscles as you try to climb back up the track! #184 1630hrs tftc
Had found a few of Alby's caches years ago (as Georgie & co) and they were generally worth the walk, this one was no different.
I have been coming to this area for years however never new about this walk until now.
Nice spot and good history TFTC.

Enjoyed the walk to cache site. Started from fishers lookout and then down to the water fall which was running quiet well after the rain from the day before. Then from the falls to the log chute. A very nice walk it was very windy at the top but by the time that I had got to the log chute the wind had die down and the sun was out. No one else on the track so had plenty of time to find and sign the cache. A great spot and thanks for the cache as I would not have done the walk without a goal to reach. TNLT
Number 5 on my "walk on the West side " and what do you know the mist has PARTLY cleared. Certainly would have been hard work in the early days !! TNLN TFTC
This was a great walk in a less frequented part of the park. We did not encounter any muggles at all on this one. The chute was pretty impressive! Kids wanted to climb down it, but parents prevailed. Another brilliant find by Geokid #1. Loved the view, had a nice sit and snack. A few ticks about. Took a ball, left synthetic flower. TFTC
Wow, the shute was pretty scary. Very pleasant walk, never been down here before. Found cache quickly. Then it was time for the big sting ... well, it only hurt for the first couple of hundred metres, then my legs went numb, really ... TFTC Albyalbatross&Wendy.
Triumph! Found at 1515hrs. A lovely walk on a very tropical afternoon. I did the full circuit walk and had a really wonderful look around. Took TB and left necklace. TFTC
Awesome walk to a terrific cache placed in 2005. Really enjoyed it thank you Alby The area is well worth visiting. We noticed a few muggles found it including students from Japan who logged it in Japanese. This is caching at its best.
Left Mingo TB
John and Helen.
We did the walk around to the falls and to the Outlook and run into a brown snake that scarred the sh** out of us but this is caching.

Found at 1400hours today on weekend adventure with Pantsman80 and families. Found the easy and shortest way in. Great walk downhill to GZ but what a walk uphill to get back to car. Easy to find when at GZ. GPS was right on the money. TFTC TNLN.[^]
They were starting to fall like flies now youngoldfella and I were on a role and what a role it was. TNLN
Interesting bit of history. Definately worth the walk down to the location. Great views. TFTC

Nice walk. If you do the loop with the falls and have a 9 year old, it can be done in under 3 hours. If you go straight and run down and clamber back up, it can be done in under 1 hour!
A beautiful picnic area which we took advantage of to have our lunch. The walk was quite strenuous since it was so warm and we needed a cup of tea and a break afterwards. Lovely in the shade of the trees. Thanks albyalbatross&Wendy
This was our second attempt at this one mainly because when we made our first attempt the waypoint I had in the GPS was incorrectly entered. However both of our walks to this location were extremely pleasurable and today was the best because we scored the find. In fact this was Mrs Xusia's first find. Lovely location - beware stinging things.
Took nothing. Left butterfly brooch.

[We did not know from where to set out for this one... but we accidentally found a lovely picnic area, with a map pointing to what looked like appropriately named places. We set off with great confidence, despite noting the significant descent required (and consequent ascent required on returning).
I confess I thought we we heading to ]Stinging Tree Hole[, but as it turns out, we weren't. We walked quite some way in that direction, which (being wrong) made some of the younger folk quite crabby.
We eventually backtracked and realised our error. The three gals in the group decided that they had gone far enough with only 100m to go but all the lads went on, found the cache and whether they made swaps? Well I don't know. Probably.
With the big detour that we made, the legs muscles had a real workout. BUT having said that, this is a wonderful and must-do cache. Great spot, great history, great commune with nature!
Thanks Alby & Wendy.]

The Big Sting was "BIG" but a wonderful exercise in finding inner reserves......
The males of the tribe completed the last part of the hunt whilst the women absorbed the peace of the caching moment
from the top of the last steep hill! True aussie bush walk, loved it.

Well the Pirate & I, left the Galley wench and Mrs Spud in the car to have a nanna nap [|)], as at this stage we had walked a mere 15km's over the Bunya Mountains and the poor old soles felt they could not take another step. Whilst we did this one. We almost took the wrong way in after reading signage at "Lookout Fischer" but looking at previous log notes (thanks Belken), we made the right decision and headed straight to the cache a very interesting site, and a pleasant walk. Thanks for the hide TNLN

The first of 8 for today. Arrived at cache at 7:45 am on a glorious morning. A very refreshing walk from close timber to open and back again. After reading about the shute certainly wouldn't want to be in the wrong spot at the bottom......[xx(]

10:18hrs a lucky choice for us we picked the way in and out with no trouble. Must be losing fitness because the little walked out was hurting my legs a little. TFTC.

Hmmm ... seems a bit of a red herring thrown into this one but somehow we managed to take the right option (twice) and had a very nice walk into the cache.
Thanks for a memorable walk.

At last, this cache has been conquered! Have been watching this one since it was originally posted and like a previous cacher ended up at the bottom of Mtns on the western side. Ran out time to go all the way and didn't realise till sometime later that the co-ords were wrong. Finally got the chance to get up here again. The first of three finds for the day.
Had been here before many years ago and always remembered the sudden transition from rainforest to open eucalypt forest.
Great spot.

Could not find the way into this one. Looked like we had to climb through thick bushland to get there, so we left it.
We stood at Fishers Lookout and a board showed a walking trail from this point to a "Stinging Tree". We were in a dilema because we knew that a 2km round ridges walk to this tree would not take us the required 6.3km as the crow flies - as per the posted co-ordinates.
Alby has been placing caches for many years so we trusted the cache placer and came down off the mountains to a small township of Bell where we then attempted via many roads to find anywhere wihere the "Trails are well maintained".
We did get within 500m of the posted co-ordinates and the fences, private property and gates deterred us from going any further.
One of us got it wrong ????

It seems I ahve gottenone of the digits wrong in the coords. Will have to walk in this weekend to check them.
