We had intended to stop at exactly this point anyway so a cache was an added bonus. Not as many passing cars as I had feared.
No longer in a hurry to head north, due to all roads to Christchurch being closed, I decided to find a few caches this afternoon and then maybe have an early night - maybe a bridge would open tomorrow (spoiler alert, it didn't). Bruce and I were initially confused here and thought the cache was further up the road - was not expecting an offset cache with a trad icon (this could, and probably should be fixed up as it seems rather unnecessary). Anyway, nice find once I got my head around that. Very very windy today - apparently along with the road closures due to flooding, there were also wind warnings for the roads down here). TFTC!!!

This was such a nice bit of NZ information. Would not have really thought that much about the down under. TFTC
Yessssss! Found a much appreciated older cache that fills up a hole in my NZ JASMER grid. Easily found once I switched my brain on....
I'm not sure how many of these 45 degree ones I've done and I'm not sure if this is a new one here or not now but happy to have it signed off anyway. Thanks for placing.
Seems I DNF'd it on 01/Apr/2011 so deleted that log.

Cool cache found with Kittykatch and Joolay from Canberra on a caching tour around the south of the South island. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for us to enjoy.
Found with Kittykatch and Smittengranny on a caching holiday to NZ. Been an amazing trip . This was a cool cache but you have to read the description carefully. TFTC
Found with Joolay and Smittengranny on our roadtrip Queenstown-Dunedin-Hokitika-Christchurch. Very cool location !
On a 10 Day holiday of the South Island, we are visiting from Australia. Sl thanks for the cache.
Weekend trip to Oamaru and Dunedin for the Pink Concert so doing some caching on the way. TFTH.Sorry unable to sign as log wet.
Awesome place to have a cache! Thanks for the hide and making us stop, we probably would never have known just driving past... also our most southerly cache so far!
With Kiwitien. Have wanted to bag this cache for some time. Thought I better do it now as the one as 44 below had been archived before I got to it... Love the actual cache! TFTC
I got a few honks here as I was finding the cache so either they knew exactly what I was doing or else it was an acknowledgement of my good looks. Maybe. Thanks
Visited to trip Trackable so as cacher-sister can learn how to retrieve and log. Safe travels little guy.
We are on a road trip around the south of the South Island. Today we drove from Dunedin to Christchurch. THis one took us quite a lot of time to find. We were very confused at to where we were supposed to look. Turns out we didn't have to go very far at all. TFTC.
Warfi got out for this. Wet day heading home after a good weekend. Thanks for all who placed caches.
A quick stop on the way home from the oamaru geofest and even though the weather is miserable just have to grab a couple of caches. Tftc found with a couple of other cachers that had also stopped to find it.
I didn't understand what I was supposed to be doing (nothing unusual there) so was ages away from the cache when I heard a yell through the rain and a fellow cacher waving at me to come over. Thanks for that teammcdonald, I'd still be standing in the rain in Oamaru if you hadn't put me out of my misery. Good one to get too as we didn't have this cache listing month on the Jasmer Grid, which I hadn't noticed until now.
So all good here thanks to a fellow cacher, thanks for the cache.

An afternoon of caching before the Geofest wrap-up. Found a few, missed a few, had a good time.

In town for the Geofest.
After this mornings CITO it was an opportunity to complete some unfinished business.
I picked this up on my way north.
Thanks for getting me to stop here. I enjoyed reading the plaque and visiting the 45th parallel.

Yes, why is it 60m out? We stopped at the right place anyway. Traffic takes no prisoners here- busy road.
Found whilst here for the geofest with flipnz and RowenaD, thanks for all the geocaches everyone.
Something's just have to be done, even though there instead much hype about this cache I really thing there should be.
Having just given away a spot G3 messanger devices we packed up for the trip home, I mentioned this cache to my roadtrip partner who was keen to see this gz. Locating was quick and retrieval of the cache was as well, we used the caravan to block the view of what I was actually doing there. I got a few snaps as well. FP from me for a great gz.

Down in Oamaru for the Geofest with Aiden29 and Bertie Blowfish. Another big day of caching. After some lunch we were fuelled up and rearing to go. Vodka anyone?
Down in Oamaru for the Geofest with Jag50 and Bertie Blowfish. We had met up with Vistra to complete the Reservoir walk and were heading back into town to find more caches. Dropped off Vistra and after lunch we headed out for more. Nice to see the reason for the discrepancy between the distances.
I was down in Otago for the long weekend to attend the Oamaru Geofest. After flying from Auckland to Dunedin this morning, driving up to Oamaru, then registering for the event, I then headed North to find a few caches. I stopped for this cache on the way back down to Oamaru. This was a quick find at GZ. TFTC!
Day 2 of the Geo Fest Oamaru, travelling with UncleSamNZ, KeyLev, and NZTravellers signing in as SEAC17 to save logbook space, collecting caches with good favorite points along the way.....
Thanks to all the CO's for placing and maintaining their caches.

In Oamaru for the 2017 Geofest Our second day and a drive through to Omarama was planed and a lot of caches on the way. As it was the Geofest we bumped into fellow geocachers as well as a few muggles along the way. We were travelling with Keylev, UncleSam, Stik-a-Crane so to save log paper signed as Team SEAC 17.
Thanks to all the COs for the caches along the route.

Headed out for a Mad Mission with Team_Gaters and 8ManAfter we signed our logs today 'T8T' cos were dynatmite! I grabbed 8Man at 5.30 am and we grabbed TG just before 6am and we were on the road before 6am with the bikes on the back. The plan was to drive to Oamaru and then attend the events and thrash the caches hard. We wanted to do as much of the A2O as we could and as many PnGs that we could manage. We stopped by the event first and then we had to stop an grab breakfast at 10am. We grabbed some lunch and headed for the hills. Had a great time and worked our way back to town for the CITO at 6pm. Scored a delicous dinner in town and headed home. Got home just after 12am knocking out 620km and 115 caches. Good times!
Yahoo, half way to the south pole.
Cache 12 of 115 for this crazy day!
Thanks for the cache ridders76.

In the area for the geofest. Had planned to head to Omarama today. There were sooooo many caches we knew we were not going to be able to stop for them all so ran a filter on the pocket query for high favourite points (or solved puzzles) and targeted those...we were not disappointed!
Stopped in what we thought was the obvious spot without consulting the gps only to think we were still 50ish m away. Read the hint and realised the instincts were correct and cache was soon in hand.
Thanks for the cache.

#2,945: Binge Smiley!
What an adventure we had today! TheWanglers, Team_Gaters, and I headed out at dawn from Christchurch with four goals in mind: 1) Find Many Caches, 2) Get TG to 7,000 finds, 3) get me to 3,000 finds, and 4) Have Fun! Needless to say, all were accomplished in spades. It was only my second 100+ day ever, and had us driving, walking, running, biking, and even crawling to make the finds. We were also able to find at least 6 different cache types, and attend two events, in order to catch up with old friends. Thanks to all the hiders, but most of all, thanks to my partners in crime! We signed all logs as "T8T", sung to the tune of AC/DC "TNT".

We set off from Friendly Fielding next day did some Christchurch caches before heading towards Omaru what a lovely place to cache, some of the places we have been and seen today have been beautiful, so glad caches take us to areas we would never of dreamed of going. Thank you for placing a cache here we signed the log and placed it back exactly where we found it. cache all good. TFTC now off to enjoy the area of Omaru and its creativity. amazing
A nice early start to the day, North Otago was our target for the morning and then hunt out a few more around town.
Even ran in to several other cachers along the way, Thanks from the McCutchan Cache Clan for putting these caches out.

Rather a SIGNIFICANT find this one! so very glad that we took the time to stop, even though we were on the wrong side of the road.
TFTC. Very cool. #299 on a day of adventures and caching with my mini geocaching birthday girl.
We finally stopped for this one having gone by many times on trips to and from Christchurch. Nice to knock this relatively old one off.
I have driven passed this GZ app many times and never looked or noticed these signs before... I will probably look each time now. Good cache
It is day four of my Oamaru solo camper van trip . Sadly I have to go home today. Back to Christchurch via a few geocaches.
Thanks for making me stop. I felt geographically centred.

Halfway between the south pole and the equator, that's quite impressive for someone who normally lives halfway between the north pole and the equator. Touching this stone we felt like explorers. Anyway, we like stones, huge ones and small ones. Thanks for making us stop here and for the nicely made cache!
I have been planning this trip for a while now as I had some airpoints due to expire and wanted to go somewhere for Wellington Anniversary Weekend. So I've made it a 4 day weekend and come down from Palmerston North for a caching road trip. I have two goals for this weekend, to get to 2500 caches before 23 January as that is when I took up caching last year and to get caches on as many latitude minutes as possible that will hopefully qualify me for a challenge cache in the Manawatu. This is day 2 - Oamaru - Palmerston - Ashburton.
After spending the morning on a quick run to Palmerston and collecting a couple of must dos in Oamaru, I'm now heading back north to ashburton.
On my way to oamaru, I collected caches on the southbound side of the highway, so am now collecting on the northbound side. Cache was quickly in hand here and I could head on my way. Tftc

Heading south for a wee family holiday. Family caught a cheap early flight down to Dunedin this morning...and will spend the day exploring Dunedin attractions...whilst I drive down to meet them...and find a cache or two along the way!
Took a bit of searching. The area had been 'weed whacked' and I eventually turned up the cache knocked asunder in the nearby ditch/culvert. Signed and replaced at the base of a fencepost....Niceone. Cheers!

On my way from Dunedin to Christchurch i just had to do a stop here, as i drove along here today. Even if i would go straight up the longitude and then in 90 degrees the longitude west, i would be at the place were i come from in Germany. Had to go a bit more north... so very far from home. Still an impressive waymark worth a cache, my name in the log and a favorite point from me.
Thanks for showing by placing and maintaining this cache

Stopped here once before and cache was MIA. New container this time so found and signed.
A memorable spot and a nice milestone in our ongoing journey to log our southernmost cache.
Day 2 of my impromptu trip south to Dunedin. Planned entirely at the last minute on Tuesday, for travel on Wednesday and Thursday. I flew down from Christchurch and picked up a free rental car, then started the fairly indirect route back north, via Oamaru to stay the night. Knowing I wouldn’t have time to get every single cache (who would), I decided on a fairly all over the place list of caches I thought I would be doing well to get to. Thanks to all the CO’s along the way. Nice landmark for a geocacher. TFTC (2753)
This is my third 45 degree one this week! And probably my last for a very long time...
Interesting cache to do with visitors from the northern hemisphere. They now have the challenge to go back to get a similar cache in their hemisphere. TFTC.
Haven't stopped here for years, so today (New Years Day) was a nice opportunity for youngest Gruffalo to stop by for the first time. Quickly found the cache and signed the log before heading back home after a great day out. TFTC!
Haha! Stopped here for a road trip photo op and then thought there MUST be a cache near here.
Jess.daphne and I were on a road trip back to Christchurch and what better way to spend some time than hunting for a cache or two? We had a great time stopping and hunting for them. This was a quick and easy find. Tftc!
Traveling with Injeanious from Chch to Dunedin for a weekend visit. We found the most caches in one day ever, for us going down, then did even better on the return trip heading back up State Highway 1. TFTC!!
We were quite puzzled to begin with but the hubby found it in the end. Thanks for the cache.
