A quick multi before departing Cootamundra this morning. TFTC. A F.P.

27-Aug-24
Found along with FeliciaDaina. Took us way too long to find! Lol. The cache needs some TLC. TFTC

Not where I thought it would be but exactly where my new coordinates took me. TFTC Coota!

16-Jun-24
Heading home from bird banding at Weddins. Was quiet so I got away earlier and have me a chance to collect some caches on the way home. Spent a long time at the cottage trying to solve WP4 of the AdLab which gave me enough time to correctly calculate the coordinates for this one. Back to a spot I had already visited and spent a lot longer than I should have here. Reckon I looked there three times before I finally spotted - all good at cache.TFTC Team Horizons (another nice oldie)

16-Apr-24
Stopped to get a new NSW LGA for me. Trying to get my multi count up to 25 in NSW. solved and found with Mogni.Found with Mogni. Myself and mogni are headed off to canberra on the " I missed the Capital GeoBash Mega " holiday, since last minute family problems came in to play and we had to adjust our plans by a few weeks. On the way over we targeted multi's, wherigo's and puzzles to make sure we had 25 in each or at least close to that total ( or more ) as possible, getting as many new New South Wales LGA's as possible, the 17th most favourite point NSW cache and every cache size in New South Wales. In the ACT it was getting 2 of the 5 oldest letterboxes, oldest wherigo in Australia, 2nd oldest earthcache ( with a side trip to get the oldest earthcache of course ), and ACT oldest cache too. I also hosted a CITO and planned on getting every different cache type i could and eevry different cache size as well. I also needed 9 more virtuals this trip to get my virtual count over 100. Finally canberra was far enough away from from house to complete the well aged well travelled cacher 0 to 1000 kms with a cache every 10 km's ( i only need 7 more caches to complete )Leaving the ACT it was going via Victoria to get there last active web cam cache and slowly getting a total of 20 finds in each LGA i passed through if i had enough time plus also hosting a CITO in Victoria as well. A busy 11 days. Trust me by the end of the holiday you would have thought the 6 meter ladder weighed more than 13 kg's to amount of times it was used or carried up hills or over creeks. If your cache was found with a broken container/lid it was replaced or if the log was full it was replaced or a extra log if the container was big enough ( except for nano's, do your own maintenance on nano's.

16-Apr-24
Day 2 of mogni and sir_spectre visit the ACT. Today was a much more relaxing day, only travelled from Wagga Wagga Yass. We found abut 40 caches and 16 ad labs. Today we targetted some caches to help with challenges and high D and/or T. Lots of cache guardians were seen, the bulls made me the most nervous. Any caches that needed some attention got it.Thanks to Team Horizons from mogni RazzRed FaceBig Grin

Finally we are on our way to Canberra for the GeoBash. We set up camp in Coota for 4 nights and visited the town and some of the outlying places.Loved the Captains Walk - we have just been to Harrow and learned all about Johnny Mullagh so it was pretty cool to see him here. The container has seen better days and really needs replacing. Sorry we didn't have any with us on the bikes. Thanks for contributing to our holiday Team Horizons

23-Mar-24
Around town still for a few day getting a feel for this lovely town, and of course aided in this by following the trail of caches created by various people. With the necessary info. gained, we visited GZ and found the prize in a good safe and dry spot. Thanks for inducing us to follow the Bradman trail around town (along with an AdLab).

06-Mar-24
A bit of a hunt at the final before finally finding the container. Thanks for taking us to this piece of Australian history and tftc!

02-Oct-23
A fun short holiday with friends caching further from home base than normal exploring and enjoying new locations. TFTC

02-Oct-23
A quick find here today after a short solve in a likely spot. Cache and log however are not doing well as the previous finders mentioned. Unfortunately no spares with us today. Thanks!

13-Sep-23
Needs a CO visit. See attached photograph.

12-Sep-23
Found with Goldenwattle, Decrypter and Binliner while on a caching trip to Cootamundra. After having lunch in town we came to the listed co-ords and obtained the needed info. We then headed to the new GZ and had CIH after a short search. The log was damp and mouldy and the container could use a clean. G dropped off a trackable, but we thought it could be better off in a cleaner place. Unfortunately we didn't copy its ID. TFTC.

On a caching trip with Goldenwattle, Decrypter and Trodectus. Found after a short hunt although the container needs a little TLC. TFTC Team Horizons

12-Sep-23
Found with Trodectus, Binliner & Goldenwattle. TFTC.

12-Sep-23
There was no problem with working out the multi part of this cache.
I had a trackable that wanted to go to Cootamundra, because Don Bradman was born here (I picked it up on the Isle of Man), so Decrypter, Trodectus, Binliner and I made a day's trip here, for me to drop off the trackable and all of us to find caches. What better cache to drop the trackable into than this one. Trodectus though then picked it up. Which was as well, as the log is wet and going mouldy. This needs a CO visit. TFTC Team Horizons.

23-May-23
Day two on our short trip north to find some better weather. BettyBoo3747, the geodoggies and I are heading to Cowra and back. Tonight we have made it to Cowra!.

We should have known these numbers as we have been to this place before.
A bit chilly this morning so no-one was playing cricket.
A few walking around looking at the heads though.
Thanks, Robmc.

23-May-23
#20936. Day 1 of a short holiday over the border in NSW with Robmc and the geodoggies. After an extremely chilly night (and yes, we were expecting cold nights) we started the caching day in Cootamundra before making slow tracks via caches to Cowra where we are staying for 2 nights.

Having wasted too much time circling the cricket captains in their newly installed positions for "the other cache" we gave up and did this one instead. On arrival at GZ a nice quick find was made. Container is cracked and needs a new log book because it is wet.

Thanks Team Horizons

After a quick visit to WP1, I had the final location worked out and once I got there I found the cache after a short search!

A quick straight forward multi with an easy find at GZ.

Thanks Team Horizons for placing this cache

17-Jan-23
I sorted out the coordinates and found the cache quickly and easily. Love caching in Cootamundra.

03-Jan-23
Brought here by a previous finder, who couldn’t remember anything of the cache, we undertook this multi at night and cache found, signed & returned.

11-Nov-22
Not there. Recent floods and landscaping happening now so all cleared out

Had us stumped. Even my cousin who’s pretty experienced could t find it. Had fun though I’ll share our adventure across socials later today @ArtOfLivingWithTrina #TheHolisticLifeStyleMovement

10-Aug-22
It's good to see the town making so much of one of its home heroes. TFTC

06-Jul-22
Found on the way home from our Wagga Wagga trip. I should've read the description more carefully because it would've avoided backtracking from where I had just came from! And also, I knew the birthday answer off by heart because I was born the day before in 1999. Dad was so excited that I was due on Don's birthday but I decided to come a day early, that's always a fun story to tell. At GZ it was a quick find, the container is broken seemingly but all seems dry. Nicely hidden. Took a PT. TFTC Team Horizons! This is my first time visiting Coota so I'm glad I was able to see the house.

27-Jun-22
e.gregory1 had previously found this cache on his previous travels so we detoured through town to this one, the cache was easily found and Container could do with a replacement

Day 6 of e.gregory1 and I’s trip to NSW for a week away collecting a few caches that we had planned out and the odd ones here and there.

Thanks for the cache

12-Jun-22
We had to give up on the AdLab at this location, because we couldn’t figure out the answer to question 4. This multi seemed an easier option and off we went after doing our sums for the GZ. SL at 11.14am Left: feathers pathtag #8819 TFTC Team Horizons - Don Bradman certainly is an Aussie cricketing legend!

05-Jun-22
The Don has been a legend since our childhood, but we always associated him with Bowral until today we realized he was born in Cootamundra. Collected the information at WP1, then did the sums and made a quick find at GZ.

It was time to move on from Wagga, so we said goodbye to good friends and set off on our way to Cootamundra via Bethungra. Its still bitterly cold, but thankfully today there were only a few showers and we managed to dodge most of them.
It was mainly traditionals today although we managed an interesting Virtual and a couple of multis.
All in all a casual day traveling with plenty of stops..

Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache Team Horizons.

Bathurst to Wagga on our way to the Mega at Wangaratta.
We had an overnight spot at Cootamundarra at the showgrounds. We have met up with the Snakepiters to continue our journey onto the Mega with.
We followed a caching trail around town which was a good way to explore this area. Certainlt a lot of history on Donald Bradman & Australian Cricket here. A surprise to find this & the Captains walk multi so close to each other.
Thankyou Team Horizons for placing this cache.

25-Apr-21
Visited WP1, which there is now an Adventure Lab at also! But we couldn't log that because for whatever reason it is restricted to a certain order.... can't see why because there is no bonus cache, but so be it!

So instead we just did this old school multi! Sorted out the answer with ease, and wandered over to GZ for a quick find thanks to the previous finder and a little hint!

Couldn't miss a CCE by JohnoMawbs as he makes such an effort to come to the Canberra regoin on a regular basis. So fitzy_1965 & I teamed up with albida33 and kittykatch for a great day of caching.

Time to start heading home....but caching on the way...of course!

I love all things Bradman so it was a shame I was here when the cottage was shut....will have to come back!

Quick find once at GZ.

25-Apr-21

What an adventure. Found it, and had a great time.

The spot was perfect for camouflage. At least that's what I’d thought when you picked the spot. I couldn't imagine that anyone would ever be able to see it in these surroundings. So there it sat, confident that it was hidden from the world and safe from danger. Unfortunately, you had not anticipated that others may be looking upon it from other angles, and now they were stealthily descending towards it’s hiding spot.

It's always good to bring a slower friend with you on a hike. If you happen to come across zombies, the whole group doesn't have to worry. Only the slowest in the group do. That was the lesson we will all learn one day.

"Explain to me again why I shouldn't cheat?" he asked. "All the others do and nobody ever gets punished for doing so. I should go about being happy losing to cheaters because I know that I don't? That's what you're telling me?"

Thanks

Found during a week in the Riverina.

Visited a little place of Australian sporting significance. The garden near GZ is getting a little overgrown. TFTC

04-Apr-21
Found on a trip around inland NSW with FeatherWaite.

Our original intention was to attend the Mega event at Dayboro in Queensland, travelling up via Broken Hill, Bourke, Cunamulla and Toowoomba, then home via the NSW coast to Port Macquarie then on to Adelaide via central NSW. However, the Covid outbreak in Brisbane forced us to reconsider, particularly given that the Mega and associated events were within the area of concern and we may have had difficulty re-entering NSW to get home and then would have had to quarantine back in SA for 14 days.

The floods in the north and east of NSW also hampered our travel plans. But we were able to develop a new plan that took us on a very pleasant tour around country NSW, picking up some interesting caches along the way.

This was a tricky find for me. Cache container and contents ate in good order.

Thanks Team Horizons for the cache.

Smile A disappointing result here today, had a fairly good look at GZ.. Thanks Horizons

26-Jan-21
I did look, but the heat won out and I gave up, just too damn hot to be standing in the sun, anything you touched, almost burnt your skin, maybe next time I am in town and it is cooler.

12-Dec-20
Arriving into the cootamundra train station after a hectic day and a half travel south saw me with an hour or so to kill before the last leg of the journey to young, down the road a ways.
Left my backpack at the station and marched my way across town for a squiz at the museum, well at least the front yard.
Then back i sauntered through suburbia till i reached a likely looking gz.
Cache was found surprisingly quickly.
Thanks team horizons for creating this multi about this bloody legend oh-so-long ago and keeping it alive too!

30-Nov-20
This was our first find for the day after two disappointing DNFs. I’m not ‘into’ any sport, except, of course geocaching, so the museum was of no interest to me. I’m not even sure it was open, being a Monday. We ate lunch in the park the final was in. I’m sure cricket tragics would love the location. We appreciated it for the shade over the picnic table and benches. The cache was found with a bit of a search at GZ. Perfect location to hide a cache of this theme. We didn’t have time to do any more around the town this time, but at least I got one here!

15-Oct-20
Got some good numbers and headed over to look for this one. Lots of spots to check and eventually found the cache.

Thanks,

Not too difficult. Enjoyed the captains walk. Cache OK

15-Jun-20
After escaping quarrantine we've been enjoying wandering the slightly quieter roads and towns, so took passage through Coota today, and of course there's 99.9 reasons to visit Coota, so prised by a couple of places while in town... Like most places, they were essentially muggle free which made my calculations and cache find quick and socially distant. Thanks for the hide Team Horizons.

Woke up early this morning in my "luxury" accommodation in Cootamundra. Had a little bit of time to do some caching before starting my course at the rfs. Decided to tackle two multi's in town and gather some more cricket knowledge. Had fun and made quick progress.

10-Dec-19
Found during a road trip from Brisbane to Adelaide with five days travelling and four overnight stops, via Ballina, Armidale, Tamworth (staying overnight), Bylong, Sofala, Bathurst (staying overnight), Cowra, Young, Cootamundra, Junee, Wodonga (staying overnight), Echuca (staying overnight), Kerang, Ouyen, Pinnaroo and on to Adelaide. With limited time for stops along the way , we targeted one or two caches in each of the LGA's we traversed, and a few extras at the overnight stops to boost the tally. Thanks for the cache Team Horizons!

Heading back form the QOGM event in Queensland we were zig zaging our way back with one of our aims to have another go at this one.
We had looked for this one quite a few years ago with no luck and unfortunately weren't keeping good notes back then then so we had to do the multi again which wasn't a real effort as a lot of it came back to us.
As soon as we got to gz we remembered the area well even though it has had a big clean up and we started our search again with no luck.
We phoned a friend who told us that we were definitely in the right location so we went back and tried again this time laying on our back and sure enough the torch picked up something different and we had the container in hand.

Many thanks Team Horizons, a favourite point from us.

15-Sep-18
Very excited to be on the road heading to the Queensland Muster in Barcaldine caching all the way. With plans to catch up with family and fellow cachers in NSW first we headed up through some uncharted areas seeking out great locations with a variety of different hides.
Being a cricket fan we just had to attempt this multi . It was great to see where Sir Donald was born with the added bonus of a cavhe.
Thanks Team Horizons for the historic multi.

Whilst on our way out to grab a Grain Train near Stockinbingal, (I The Geocacher Big Grin) swung by this cool homestead of a Cricketing Great we all know and love to grab me the required info for the final Smile. Some hours of waiting for the damn train which let us down by leaving way too late saw us let it go and return back to Coota where I (with solved co-ords in hand) dropped in to make a swift find of a cache in great condition. Have a Fave Point for this one and for where it led us to and what it showed us Smile The Muggle and I love Cricket bigtime. SL at 18:22 on Wed. 4 Oct. 2017... The cache and contents are doing well. #3355 23 of 23 today.

I tried to gather some likely suspects for a trip out to the coast today, but was particularly unsuccessful being father's day and all. So I decided instead to head out past Yass to Bradman country - Cootamundra via Binalong. It started out as a lovely warm spring day, but a change came across with some very strong winds, but it stayed warm, hitting about 23C - the warmest I've been since about April !

I didn't have time to visit the museum but got the info I needed without having to get out of the car. GZ was a bit of a mongrel spot. Left the trackables there as the previous placer is from my neighborhood.

TFTC Team Horizons.

A fantastic clear day. Warm for winter. Took me 15+ minutes at GZ checking every one of the myriad possibilities. Tough hide with so many options!
I'm a sucker for Bradman. Loved his work. Such a record over two decades. No one comes close. Voges was averaging over ninety, looking a little Bradmanesque for a while there, but then finished with an average of 61. It goes to show how hard it it to maintain such a massive average. Hussey averaged 90 briefly, but ended his career with an overall average closer to 50. After his 204 not out against South Africa in 2002, Gilly was averaging over 60 (and had the South Africa press comparing him to Pollock), but finished his test career on 47.60. And there are many other stories like these from other countires. 42 scores of 50 or more in 80 innings! No one else comes close. A whisker away from three triple tons. And his 270 against England in 1936-37 which not only turned a test match but turned the test series (Aus were 2-0 down before the test but ended up winning the series 3-2) is considered by Wisden experts as the best test innings of all time. I could go on and on, but I'd better not. Suffice to say that I was quite happy to visit Bradman's birthplace!
Left a geocoin and a travel bug, seeing as how I get some points for the next souvenir by doing so.
Thanks for the cache, Team Horizons.

Found by Aussie Train Driver 18/07/17, find number 1095.
I had some time to kill whilst staying in Cootamundra this evening which provided a good opportunity to find a few local caches. I made the necessary calculations and loved the fact that this cache took me right back to the other multi in town which I was yet to find. The container was located after a few minutes. TFTC! Very Happy

01-May-17
TFTC. We had arrived in Cootamundra around lunch time and settled into the nearby caravan park. After lunch I went out solo as Linda has no interest in cricket. A good walk too find the data required (even though I could have used Google). A quick calculation and headed to GZ. A quick find exactly where expected.

15-Apr-17
I am far from a cricket fan but do love a bit of history. But we didn't have enough interest to spend hours at the WP. The final did interest a little more and we spent some time admiring the POI's after locating the cache.

Thanks for the cache.

On holidays and today travelling from Canberra to Grenfell and travelling through various towns. I apologise for the generic comments however, logging this after at home after my holidays were finished. All caches were great to find and thank you to all CO's for their caches and locations. The day had come to head out on another geomissin with Rapidlywild, weather was awesome so what better way to spend a Saturday then go caching out in the country side.

Nice little multi and interesting to see where Sir Donald Bradman grew up.
Quick find at GZ where more interesting information was close by.

Plans were made with one of the FurfacesLL ladies to do a country drive through some towns in a big loop and clean out a few areas. Main targets of the day were Cootamundra and Junee Smile

We had plans to leave at a certain time, however, I foiled those plans when I woke up late, however we still left at a reasonable hour Razz

Interesting to see the home of the Sir Donald Bradman, geocaching has taken us to many places of names of people we know all about. This was another one where we enjoyed obtaining the required information and learning a little more about Sir Bradman. Once the required information was obtained, we made short work of locating the cache at GZ Big Grin

Log signed and cache replaced, off we go towards the next cache. Thanks for the cache placement Team Horizons Big Grin

After going to the Captains Walk had to go to the Don's birthplace.

Very interesting museum which is well worth while ($3 admission).

Info was grabbed and the coordinates took us to a familiar location.

Unlike the cache at the Captains Walk this cache was found quickly.

Thanks Team Horizons for the cache - think I might favourite this one.

[font=Comic Sans MS]Hi there Team Horizons. We found your cache "BRADMAN" at 1:18:00 PM today. This cache makes our find count 12024.
[Blue]
Today was our second day in Cootamundra. The day started off with thunderstorms, so we only attempted one cache before retreating back to our caravan. The weather cleared in the afternoon so we grabbed the opportunity to polish off the remaining caches in town. Today we ended up logging 9 and DNF'd 0.
[/Blue]
Coordinate Accuracy: We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking. Wink
Cache Condition: The container and log book are in good shape.
Took: Damp and mouldy papers.
Left: Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt,

Out spending a couple of days with my eldest daughter finding caches in the Yass/Bookham/Cootamundra regions. An interesting multi which took me back to the other multi which I just completed. Find 126 plus 1 DNF for today so far. A great start to 2015. Thanks Team Horizons.

Even with the risk of bad weather, we headed out with Roostaman, to pick up some caches.

Collected the required information, and soon had a GZ where the cache was located quickly.
Many thanks for placing this cache, Team Horizons, for us and others to find.

Asa bit of a cricket tragic I had to get both cricket themed caches here. I'd been to Bradman's birthplace many long years ago (the 70s) when it was just a private house. We were out the front taking pics when a dishevelled bloke staggered out clutching a tomato sandwich and told us this wasn't the house. He put his sandwich on the letterbox and pointed to the shed behind the house and said that was where Bradman was born. We had to take his word for it. Not even a sign back then.

I got the info and found I was near the other cricket cache. Yes I do wonder how the other one got through. In any case it was a quick find.

Thanks!

[:(!] Went for a weekend caching run to do the ES Series (Endangered Species Power Trail), after spending the night at Burrinjuck Waters State Park (I recommend it), I was once again on me way back to my abode and picking up a few caches along the way and this was one of them, parked the geocar as close as possible to GZ and walked in from there, gathered the required information and transposed the figures into the formula, then entered the co-ordinates into my GPS, then I was off once more to the final location of GZ, parked the geocar as close as possible to GZ and walked in from there, on arrival at GZ the cache was located and it was in hand in a matter of minutes, once the fog had lifted, the sun was out and it was a marvelous day for caching after experiencing the previous day of miserable weather.

CoolCoolCool I love it CoolCoolCool
