This was another find in Western Australia while crossing Northern Territory and Western Australia from Darwin to Perth on Gibb River Road through the Kimberlys. During this 8500km journey we've met many nice and friendly people [^], visited countless marvelous places, saw lots of interesting local wildlife (and plants), took some 2500 pictures home and logged some 300 Caches Cool.

Cacheator Dad was somehow blind here, we finally found some 10m off Big Grin.

Thanks for the cache, we've enjoyed it very much [^].

A tricky path to the beach for geriatrics! After locating the prize and re-reading the data later, I reckon that the container has suffered a bit of "cache creep". TFTC, jim@chris

Singing, "We're all going on a summer holiday," despite the fact that it's winter, IolantheK and I paused in our little hire car at the start of the road leading to this one and debated exactly how boggy that sand might be. Cautiously edging onto the road, we discovered it was pretty solid, so drove happily along to the recommended parking coordinates, where only one other car promised a quiet beach. We loved walking along past the fabulous rocks on the beach (I do enjoy Broome's coastline) and followed a little gully up toward GZ, where we circled a little before spotting the cache. An enjoyable stop, glad we risked the road. TFTC, jim&chris. =^.^=

07-Jun-14
La Kedi and i are traveling across Australia and we have reached Broome. On our last day we headed out to finish collecting all the caches. This one we were a bit iffy about driving the car close to GZ, but it was easier than we expected. And then we had a great walk up the beach. Lots of interesting rock features. The cache was a quick find. TFTC, jim@chris.

05-Jun-14
We parked at Rendell car park number3, walked to the beach, then to the right until we reached the creek. Walked up that and it was an easy find. A very nice cache. TFTC

An earlier than expected finish saw us tracking down some of the local caches and this was the fourth for the afternoon. As usual with Murphy's assistance we took the more difficult route in, but managed to find a more accessible way out. Dropped a TB to continue on its journey. TFTC jim@chris Smile

Nice easy find this morning on the 'URK World tour'

All good with cache, full log to follow when back home on the PC.

22-Jun-13
A quick generic paragraph to start the log…This cache was one of the ones found on the VH-URK Kimberly-Broome flying trip of 2013. We left from Stawell, flew up to the Gulf via Thargomindah and Longreach, then across via Kakadu to Mataranka and on to Kununurra. From there, it was on to Broome, Halls Creek, Alice Springs and home to Stawell via Broken Hill. Around 4500 nautical miles (8340km), at least one cache in every mainland state and an awesome time.

The sign at the start of the road said it was closed, but someone came down as I was thinking if I should take the chance, so I decided to see how far I could get. There were a couple of small puddles, but nothing to worry the hired 4WD and I made it all the way to the carpark.

A lovely beach, totally deserted at the early hour of the day, so I had a nice walk and made the quick find.

As I was leaving, I could see water over the road just past the carpark entrance and I figured that was the reason for the closure, so it was the long way around to get to the Earthcache on the Point.

All good with cache, thanks for showing me this lovely spot

“1CADFAY”, (1 cache a day for a year).
Broome WA
Another slow start to the day as we were doing some research of information brochures to see what was left to do in Broome that we hadn’t done yet and if there was anything we wanted to see and do. Another place to go and visit would be the crocodile farm, but I’m not interested in seeing lots of wild animals crowded into little cages waiting to get turned into handbags and shoes.
One trip that I would love to do would be to fly to the horizontal falls and go in a boat to see them, but the cost is VERY high, about $700 per person, ouch!
We looked at doing a 220k each way day trip up to Cape Leveque but it’s gravel road half the way, I’m sure it would be amazingly beautiful but if I was going to do it I would like to take a 4wd camper and go for a few weeks to have a proper look around.
Even a simple camel tour on Cable beach will cost you min $70 for the sunset tour, and really why would you do any other time of day, lol.
So having come to the conclusion that we have probably seen and done what we need to, and can afford to, we decided that we don’t need to extend our stay and we can continue on in a couple of days.
We spent the day running around doing some caches, first on the list was “To Have and to Hold. To Find and to Swap, GC3QFVD”. This was a fun cache to do as it took us on to the beach, in our vehicle. On the way down to the beach we stopped to chat to some cyclists who had advertising on their shirts that they were doing a cycle tour from Broome to Cape Leeuwin. What a mission!
We then went off to look for the dinosaur prints at the Gantheaume Point, but the tide was not low enough again today to expose the rocks, so we had to make do with taking photos at the casting in the concrete block. We collected the information from the information boards for the Earthcache, “Dinosaur footprints, GC41WNY”, which I will send to the CO when I can get some time. Next on the list was the final of the multi cache which we had been working on “Oracle Jam's Broome Birthday Tour, GCTWVG”, we managed to find this after a bit of a scramble around in the rocks, lol.
Last one, “Broome Holiday, GCQQEX”, before heading back to the caravan for some lunch, which was meant to be a quick one, but ended up taking longer than anticipated as the road to the cache area was closed due to large pools of water across the road. This didn’t seem to be deterring anyone so we drove in from the port end of the road and parked nearby at carpark 3. After trying to access from the beach we decided to tackle from the road side, it was a bit of a scramble through the scrub but after a short search we found the cache lying somewhat out in the open, after signing the log we replaced the cache with a few stones around it to try to make it less conspicuous.
After lunch, which was a bit delayed from all the caching, we paid a visit to the tourist office to double check info about our next destinations, Derby and Fitzroy Crossing. We then went to find our last cache for the day, “Sandy Hieghts, (sic), GCYN48”. This involved a bit of driving around, finding roads that were not finished, turning around and backtracking, then once we got close to the cache area we managed to find a track to go up the hill to access the cache. Great views from up here but no camels to be seen, or any sunset today as it was raining by this time, lol. By now it was time to head back to the caravan for dinners and to settle in for the night again.

Unfortunately the weather around Broome over the last few days has left access roads to this cache closed.
I can return at a later date rather than walk 2-3 kilometres in the heat.

19-Jan-13
The road leading to this is currently closed from both ends due to weather

05-Jan-13
Weren't sure where parking was. We think it was down the dirt road, but the road had been closed because the rain had flooded it too much (and we were not in a 4wd :C). So we parked at the port. GPS was reading 1800m distance, but we decided to go anyway. Me and T went with my mum and little sister (who live up here) on a half hour walk/hike over the beach and rocks to get there. It was a nice walk, but probably a bit far in the end. Tide had come in a lot by the time we got back. But hey, what's a bit of geocaching without some adventure?

Beautiful quiet location - we had to share with only a diver and his dog - given more time, an ideal spot to spend a day strandwalking, reading, listening.

27-Aug-12
Very interesting look of the beach here, with all the small red rocks. The diver we had spotted suddenly cried out and hissed, then moved out of the water quickly. He appeared to be alright, his dog seemed happy too, so we could refocus our attention to our geocaching tour.
